Sorry for the guys suffering them, but there are better centre halves out there.

We? Really?
Most people I've spoke to or seen on here called it like it is with they 2.
Couple of carthorses.

McKenna is a bit different I think. His teammates expose him terribly, I think he's a better player than many people give him credit for. Is he a Celtic player? Not sure, but I think big Cosgrove would be decent if he played in our team. I don't think he'd be an automatic choice but he adds something that could benefit us. HH.

Bob the titanic turned away from the iceberg quicker than McKenna. Did you see the goals ross county scored? Never a Celtic player.

Am I the only Celtic fan who couldn't care less about 10iar? Don't care about the number just want to win the league every year and would be disappointed if we only made 10, if it's to beat the 9iar by the zombies then 9iar would beat that as we would have done it twice to their once, we have also done 8 twice 7 twice and 6 three times to their once, for me the double treble and the treble treble are far greater achievements and not sure if that has been done anywhere else in the world whereas 10 11 12 or 13iar is commonplace, 10iar would not even be a record in our own city as Glasgow City have 13 and counting, and as everyone knows the greatest ever was the big cup which the sevvies will never match, hail hail #lawwellout.

29 Feb 2020 19:45:42
Couldn't care less about 10 in a row🤔

All that matters is winning the League. Europe is merely bonus games to see how far we can get as we'll never win either the Champions league or the Europa league.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 20:02:43
10 in a row is massive it's never been done and think of the hurt they'll feel knowing it will never be done again.

29 Feb 2020 20:05:27
10iar without a decent shot in the champions League or a Europa League final in those ten years is merely a reflection of how poor Scottish football, .

29 Feb 2020 20:08:53
paythesacepainter are you for real mate 10iar does not matter. were you about when that lying cheating mob were doing 9iar. the humiliation we had to endure. i will die a happy man knowing we have done something they will never emulate.

Celtic to win 10 In A Row is massive.
Maybe then I can relax and be better motivated for European games Ed. 😂.

29 Feb 2020 20:34:25
Robroy did you miss the bit when they have never done 9 twice 8 twice 7 twice 6 three times the big cup or the double or triple treble, if you want another comparison we are still alive.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 20:46:08
How can you say you want to win the league evert years but 10iar doesn't matter? That is a bit of a contradiction is it not.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 21:02:09
paythefacepainter. let's live in the now. not the past. i want our young supporters to know what winning is like. we all know they are dead, but the officials of our game won't confirm it.10iar is the biggest thing since 67 but it will live for eternity if we do it. mate the treble treble is is remarkable and the quadruple will be mind blowing but let's do 10 please and they will implode.

29 Feb 2020 21:23:44
Jonbhoy not a contradiction at all, want my team to win every competition we enter not interested in 10iar.

29 Feb 2020 21:48:00
10 in a row aswell as having the European Cup in the cabinet will end them as Sevco will never achieve either👍.

Gutted that they got the Petrofac cup. We’ll never match that😂.

29 Feb 2020 23:01:27
Let's say we do win 10iar. Yes it would be nice to have the upper hand against the Sevs but then what? I mean how does it really improve us because our league is 13th or 14th best in Europe and when we come up against average Euro opposition we still fall flat more often than not. I won't ever say we don't want 10, 11 etc. and I do see the attraction because it would demonstrate our domestic dominance but as was said before that's not what attracts top players. It's the prospect/ potential of European football that will bring quality to the east end of Glasgow. So many fans are obsessed with 10+ and I absolutely get it but it isn't the be all and end all as far as the success of our club is concerned. HH.

Trying to work out if this post is a wind up? If not, it is up there with the most entitled things I have ever read on here. The day I stop caring about winning leagues, breaking records etc. is the day I'll start supporting that other lot.

League for me everytime I also only think about Europe for the players to get spotted and puts up there value up as all our players are assets.
I like the idea that not many rangers fan in there 20s will ever remember or have won troghys in there short lived lived.
Long may that continue. Rangers fans on the other sites are still going on about how they beat us. I actually don't care we are not there problem team, as it's hard to predict that game. there problem teams are the rest of spfl which they nievly thought where pushovers. These are the teams who are beating them and the teams who are knocking them out of the cups. Let's not forget these are also the teams Celtic don't take lightly as this accumulates points and the team at the top of the league at the end of the season is all that matter as this guarentees Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 14:44:21
It's beggars belief that some folk don't care about European football or trying to compete in Europe.

Do yous not realise European football plays a big part in us signing players like dembele, Nitcham, Eddy? These players don't come to Scotland just to win medals.
Do you think we would be able to ask for 15m+ for our players if we have no aspirations to qualify and compete to best of our ability in European football.

Don't forget the world knows of Glasgow Celtic because of the lions exploits in European football not just winning in Scotland 👍🏻

Rant over, on to the St Johnstone game.

ryancelt mate i agree, but we are so close to putting that lot in there box with 10iar. when we accomplish that then push on and be a real dominant force in europe.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 16:32:47
We will never get a better chance to get 10 in a row so as far as I'm concerned europe can take a back seat. Just my personal opinion and I know others won't agree with that but Europe will be available to us for years to come.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 17:28:14
We wouldn’t have the quality of players we have, that have gave us the chance to do 10 in a row if it wasn’t for us qualifying for Europe season after season.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 18:08:14
The fact is we have had consecutive CL football for almost a decade and in that time have had some brilliant talent.
However we have often been caught cold in qualifiers or else take a step forward and two back, due to lack of investment in the squad at the right time, so we can build a real quality squad; especially when we sell a 'star man' every year and then downgrade.
Anyway, when own Board don't even see us as a CL club, what chance do we have of making serious progress and improving our reputation?
A good run in the Europa, seems to be our limit these days?

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 18:47:17
a real dominant force in europe . our European record is utter pish we've been living off a result for 53 years , 10 in a row or 4 trebles won't change a thing.

29 Feb 2020 20:14:01
deep river boy. we have a terrific european pedigree and for you to say otherwise is totally dis respective to our great club. for a wee diddy club from scotland we do ok.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 20:50:23
Our record over the last 25 years in Europe has been fairly good considering the league we play in and the budget we have.
If we didn't have European football we wouldn't attract half the player's we do, especially the young foreign players.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 20:55:49
. wee diddy club., isn't that a tad more disrespective than me pointing out our pish euro record,

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 21:13:44
every body refers to us as wee diddy clubs and you confirm this when you say we only have 1 european date 1967.we are a huge part of history in the european footaball history.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Mar 2020 12:55:46
Nobody refers to Celtic as a wee Diddy club absolute garbage. Our history proves this.
Does that mean man utd Chelsea and a few other are Diddy teams as they have Lost there way. Europe will take time with our small budget but I also enjoy those night to take scalps.
We punch so far above our weight it's frightening I also know it can crumble as history shows us this.
English football wins everything first off sponsor money, second big wages, third which is most important is many English teams have some of the best European players playing for them the main league is over loaded with foreign talent and not that great local talent. What happened to that rule teams must play at least 6/ 8 boys from your own country. Last year's final in Europe which I did not watch but was told to go check the team sheet, there was only one English player on the field for a team that's English that's the difference. I want Celtic to stay Scottish which I think they are Scottish majority to make sure we keep getting local talent with a little mixture of players from around the world.

So to lift the gloom after Thursday, here is the good news
It frees up our midweeks and allows team a whole week between games to recover (I know clutching at straws to cheer me up lol)
Laugh number 2 according to my ex bear pals, some Sevco fan sites are calling for the derby on the Sunday to be POSTPONED to let Sevco "concentrate" on the two Euro games each side of Celtic game to "help Scotland's coefficient".

Interesting reading everyone's take on Wednesday night. My own opinion for what it's worth is it was simply down to player performance levels. We had a couple off pass marks, 4 or 5 who were just poor and a few (mainly at the back) who were awful. I don't think the formation would make much difference when the players don't turn up like that. We played well in 1 out of 4 halfs of football. You perform like that at that level off and you are going to get found out. This St Johnson game is not a gimmie either, I hope they are quickly back up to speed on Sunday!

This season we have went on runs of fourteen domestic wins between the Livingston defeat to the Ibrox result; followed by ten straight domestic wins since the winter break. In between, we won our EL group in style and lifted our first trophy of the season.
The team have played very well in many of those games, but when we did lose games - (Cluj in the CL. Sevco at Ibrox and now Kopenhagen) , it was really hard to take because of the importance and significance and most importantly the timing.
There have been numerous post mortems on here after Thursday looking for reasons, culprits and blame with a lot of bitter disappointment and anger, that is hard to shake. However,
The players will be feeling it just as bad as us and the media circus surrounding Sevco going through, will motivate them all the more to go and fight for those two remaining trophies.
Our CL exit was very similar to Thursday night, the way we failed to turn-up and the questions about selection; but if we can beat Rennes and Lazio, we should have been able to handle those two, so the attitude and application must always be consistent and 100%.
One last point would be the need to add quality in key areas in the summer as there are a few here that cannot reach the heights.

Edd ave got a question you may be able to answer if not mabe the other members may know. Who was the last player that we signed who walked straight into the first team starting 11?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Forster? Jullien? Bolingoli? Elhamed?}

29 Feb 2020 20:22:36
Loss of Elhamed has been biggest blow to our back 4. He looked a real Quality player. hopefully we haven’t bought a player who can’t handle the demands to play at this level.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Feb 2020 22:35:30
Julien and Bolongoli didnt, neither played in CL qualifiers. Forster did but he is on loan. We needed a CH in Dec and instead signed a CF and CM who might come good next year.

29 Feb 2020 23:28:20
The worrying thing about El Hamed is his stats. About 200 games in 10 years. Brilliant player but really? Who does the due diligence at Celtic? Hope I wrong but.

I am still in shock from Thursday night no one saw that coming and it should be a wake up call for everyone.
We are all to blame
The supporters for believing the game was already won.
The players for believing the same and not putting in a shift on the night they thought we were playing a championship side.
The management team for tinkering with the formation and thinking they are tactical geniuses/
The directors for not investing in quality players and choosing cheap options and not buying a Left sided central defender something we have needed since we sold Van Dyke.

29 Feb 2020 10:34:46

I don't think you can be over confident in any European tie, even though it looks good on paper.
The revenue we have lost due to bad performances, bad tactics or whatever must surely cause concern within the club.
Thinking AEK Athens last season and Cluj this season, games that we could and should have progressed in.
Now Copenhagen have been added to the list as well as us spending £5.5 million on two players in January who can't get a game?
Sevco will probably earn more money from their last 16 tie than we will from winning the league?
Would that be correct Ed?

I know it's irrelevant now, down to our amateur game management but the way Eddy took his penalty was beyond belief. For someone so young to stand infront of 60,000 in the last 5 mins to keep your team in Europe and chip a pen down the middle (when not having a good night) . Wow, this man has ice running through his veins.

Stevie, I totally agree with you regarding eddy. Unfortunately results like this are the reason he will be off in the summer. I think we have to enjoy him while we can, like the rangers defeat at new year he didn’t seem to hang around after the game, just headed off down the tunnel. I think he hates losing, which is a good trait although watching him this season, like van dijk before him he seems to have outgrown our team. And being honest he deserves to be showcasing his obvious talents at a better level than ours ( unfortunately ) . I’d love to see him for another season in the hoops though .
