Just chatting to my little bhoy and he asked me who I thought player of the year was. I think I've just made a case for virtually everyone!
Who would everyone say?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Broony. Captaining us to a (hopefully) treble and an undefeated season, not to mention the way he has played and dominated the entire game up here considering people were saying he was finished last year.
He's been with us 10 years now and I know there's people that won't like it, even in our own support, but Brown has the chance to make himself a Celtic legend in the coming years, in fact if he becomes just the third captain in our history to lift a Treble I'd have him up there nudging McStay's perch in my own wee Hall of Fame.}

29 Apr 2017 23:07:13
I would give player of the year to BR I know he is not a player before any one steps in but what a difference he has made its nothing more than miraculous and to be honest the full team deserves player of the year for me.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Apr 2017 23:25:09
I TOTALLY have to agree with ed. I was asked yesterday by a currant bun in work who my POTY would be, and when I said Brown he looked shocked! 'No Sinclair or Dembele'. naw mate. I actually WATCH fitba'!

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It just seems that Brown's been the main cog of our on field successes and he's developed into a top class midfield general. The way he looks after himself there's no reason why he can't play on for years and get even better under Rodgers' tutelage.
Broony's here for 10 in a row!}

29 Apr 2017 23:26:21
I wouldn't disagree at all, but as I said Brown, I also thought how it could be Sinclair, Armstrong, Dembele, Teirney. God, what a season the team have had!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - We've had contenders all through the team but for me their leader deserves the plaudits.}

29 Apr 2017 23:51:14
Without doubt Scott Brown Ed. Immense.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Apr 2017 00:14:17
Moty awards will take care of BR 😉.
I can see eds point about brown his passing and leadership has went up a level this season. His interviews have been class as well. It's usually the goal getters that have the crown so SS has to be up there- what a signing. Never gave it much thought but broony should pick up at least 1 player or players player.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Apr 2017 00:37:53
I think Sinclair just edges it. 25 goals in 22 different games is some record. He turns up every week. No surprise that Dembele had his dip in form when Sinclair was injured. He brings the best out of other players.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Apr 2017 00:38:26
I should have said. last season I though Broony was dun! Thought we had good service from him and when BR said he was integral to the team I thought he was putting on a face. I would have taken £3m for him at the start of the season. THANK GOD I KNOW FLOOK ALL! LOL HH!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - :-D

30 Apr 2017 11:32:17
A lot of broonys success this year probably stems back to when BR met him during the summer for a chat at his house. BR would of been instilling another level of confidence and self belief. also I think broony seems smarter on the field in terms of position and picking passes might be down to the extra work he's doing on the coaching side of the game.
Long may it continue!

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Apr 2017 09:21:16
I agree ed, love broonie, I always stuck up for him, but where is the genius who used to slag him and blamed him for everything wrong in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - To be fair there have been a few posters gave Brown pelters every season on here.}

30 Apr 2017 09:41:59
No one gets near mcstay for me ed.
Him and my dad are the 2 reason I fell in love with celtic.
But broony has been a great celtic player and a fantastic captain.
He's had his ups and downsee but has always came back stronger with his head high and chest out.
He's my player of the year.
He's our beating heart.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Apr 2017 17:22:35
I can't believe he is the same player. He was always decent but he is up another few levels now. Great season for Brown as for so many others as well.

Did anyone notice the BBC stats re possession - they had it at 52/ 48. I guess there will be a drug raid down there.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Apr 2017 22:39:03
Yeah saw that, yet Sky had it at 63/ 37 which I actually thought was probably wrong aswell.

That's what I thought, Murdoch! When I saw the BBC stats, I nearly choked!

Was Griffiths hit with a battery after Boyata's goal, or was someone trying to hit him? I saw him in the background of the celebrations holding it up and complaining but i haven't heard anything about it. Although im sure Police Scotland have their hands full dealing with them.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

29 Apr 2017 21:18:48
Then tita giving it monkey noises at Sinclair that's what gent should be looking it if any our fans did that they would get battered up j down but hey ho the we are the people brigade aren't open to others that's why we are who we are.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 23:09:57
It was Garner who threw the battery at Griff. but he missed.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Apr 2017 00:18:36
Guys I'm not sure the battery came from a Hun as it looks like it's a Duracell and there a bit pricey for that mob 😜.

an honest opinion please bhoys n ghirls .
had a slight difference of opinion whilst watching the game with the family . it concerns the goals scored . the kids and mrs reckoned griffs goal was best . but my outlook was this . 1st goal well taken PK.
2ND great strike from lg but keeper should be doing better .
3rd mcgregor good composte didn't panic . 4th good header can't argue . but for me apart from the fact it was big lustig, his goal was sheer beauty to place it in a corner like he did some off the better strikers don't score these types off goal . put any keeper you like in goal today and his strike can't be saved perfection .

my main point is i wonder if they wrecked their own bogs?

Agree3 Disagree1

29 Apr 2017 21:13:30
hillairious they had two stewards on both sides of the posts at the celtic end to stop celtic players tying scarves to them, pity they couldn't have used the four stewards to catch the racist giving sinclair the monkey chants and the knuckle draggers who threw missiles at the celtic players.

Agree2 Disagree1

big jozo's tackle on miller is a thing of sheer beauty. Watching it again it looks like km has been hit by vauxhall corsa.

IMO Miller should have been booked for diving.

That tackle from Simunovic was worth, alone, the 5 million that torino were offering.

P. S. Ed, i really appreciate your input, great site.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate, you're very welcome.}

29 Apr 2017 19:47:11
How the hell the commentators were saying it was two footed is ridiculous - it was the best tackle I've seen this season! I just wish Griff had scored rather than hitting the bar seconds later.
Boyata was excellent as well.

Over the moon about the performance today but who else thinks we should have really punished them today with more goals and a clean sheet? I've never seen such an easy season against our so called biggest rivals. We have absolutely dominated them!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Apr 2017 16:06:09
Totally agree! I text one of my mates to say I was almost (almost! ) disappointed when it was 4-1! That is obviously only because we were so far better. I honestly think that 10-0 would have flattered them. It was a brilliant performance, but could have been so many more.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 16:20:37
Dominant performance from start to finish n no more than to be expected for now and forever playing sevco. At least now surely the must know their place but I'm sure the gullibillies will follow follow blindly.
Problem for them and everyone else is we won't be as good as this season, we will be even better and stronger with a few key signings, Roberts being a must.
Boyata was absolutely outstanding today n has got back to the form he was always capable of, whole team was immense but he's been one for the boo bhoys, not any more.
Here we go 10 in a row, by the way did onion jack ever show up again or did he do walking away too? Haha salary's punditry was hilarious today, him and see tanner were they gutted much haha.

It's amazing a year on from the 2-2 draw and penalty kicks defeat that we are at last turning our huge advantage in revenue, class and resources into performances, records and trophies - all thanks to a phone call from DD to BR and the start of the Rogers Revolution.
This has been one of the most memorable, dominant and entertaining seasons I have ever seen in decades.

I have watched Celtic since 1964. My first game. I have watched many Rangers V Celtic games. For the first time ever I felt sorry for Rangers. They are finished as a force in Scottish football. Today was the end. I have never seen 2 games in a row where either team just passed the other off the park. It looked like the first team playing against the under 17 squad. don't get me wrong Fantastic stuff from Celtic. But today told a story. And i am worried.

So why am i worried? Well i don't want the Celtic board to think that there is no need to invest. By the way there is no need to invest on the domestic front. But if we are to progress in Europe then funds are required. Now our focus can only be on europe. There is no domestic challenge. Rangers are now as relevant as St Johnstone or Kilmarnock. Today the rules changed maybe for ever.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 16:08:52
I have never ever felt the slightest tinge of sorrow for them - in either of their forms - and don't think I ever will. Their abhorrent fans and the bile that spews from their players - most notably Miller at the moment - ensure that.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 16:26:16
I will never ever feel sorry for that mob ever! I will never forget the day they won the league at CP and the walk back to my car through Alexandra Parade was like walking up the Shankill Road. Even in victory they were trying to attack Celtic fans. Absolute scum of the earth deserve all they get!

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 16:26:20
No sympathy here. I am absolutely delighted. You, like me, sat in the old Jungle watching those cheats hammer us during the Brady and Macari era's. Do you think they felt a pinge of sympathy? F@$k them. COYBIG🍀🍀.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 16:34:05
How can u feel sorry for them, listening to the bile they sing? They deserve every pounding they get. Roll on next year and a record score, make them suffer. KNOW YOUR PLACE RANGERS!

Agree4 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 17:02:08
Feel sorry for THEM r u having a laugh after the racist chants and gestures from them! there is no place for them in Scottish society let alone Scottish football.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 18:04:17
If the shoe was on the other foot we would not appreciate them feeling sorry for us - as if that would ever happen.
Like you I went to my first game in the early 60's (1962 age 6) and there are always peaks and troughs that bring out every emotion possible following Celtic (or any other club) and we should always relish and appreciate the highs when they come without feeling guilt, sorrow or pity.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 23:38:01

Welshboy spot on Lustig is just one of those foreign players who get Celtic and grow to love us. He's as green and white as you and me and the same can be said for our captain. As Mr Stein said 'Celtic maybe weren't my first love but they'll be my last' ☘️.

as a gers fan im embarressed. not about the result i knew that could have happened take it on the chin and move on. embarressed about that guy doing the monkey sign towards sinclair guy is to stupid to realise when doing that he's also doing it to all the black rangers players also. n the only knuckle dragging ape is him. i've know time for racist sectarian pricks like that.

Both Padre Pedro and Fat Sally (Sly tv) think that Sevco performed better today that last week. I suppose that it's subjective to your expectations. Conversely, Brendan states that he is disappointed that Celtic did not score more goals. I think that Brendan has the greater grasp of reality.

What an incredible performance from the team! Truly one of the best displays from a Celtic which I'm the main is the same as last year's! All the talk of TRFC investing to compete with us but some really good buys to bring in quality players will widen the gap further. Brendan Rodgers is on the verge something very very special.

Best fans? Wonder if the sfa will drag them over the coals for the fan who ran on to confront broony? Or the monkey chants at sinky? Or the object that Griff showed the ref that was flung at the players celebrating? Whilst am moaning why were they flying Israeli flags? Did we not get fined for Palestinian ones?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Apr 2017 17:36:48
I agree, political statements shouldn't be allowed in football however we flew Palestinian flags against an Israeli team which was obviously done in part to aggravate them. Also it was in Europe and the situation is far from as simple as 'Israel bad, Palestine good' as the majority of our fans seem to think.

Just wanted to add one further thing on the Barton saga, apparently he had been gambling for 10 years while a footballer, his time up in Scotland he was still gambling and the SFA only gave him a slap on the wrist with a one game ban and a small fine, but my question is, why did he not admit to his addiction then, was it because he got off lightly by our SFA, but when the English FA hammered him, he suddenly admitted to his addiction. Something not quite right.
