£18m for this new hotel but is it just me or would anyone else rather see that money spent on improving the playing squad?
Yes it will obviously improve our revenue but will we ever see the benefits as the board never spend anyway.

Irishkiwi bit of a non comment bud how can development to paradise not benifit our club they will obviously budget for it plus we have racked in 60 mill in 2 years that'll go along way to pay for it and the playing squad is doing good we will strengthen Brendan will make sure of that so to be honest I personally think your post is stupid bud hh.

Racked in 60mil in 2 years? But how much of that has been spent improving the team? Not enough. Celtic are a football club and some may disagree but I'd rather celtic football club was run as a football club and not as a business to make the money men more money which is becoming more evident.
You as Brendan Rodgers if he would rather an £18m hotel or £18 to improve the playing squad I think that's a no brainer answer.

IrishKiwi : clubs these days are a lot more diverse than just football . £18m is a lot to us be long term it will bring us even more money: plan over 3 years CL money and that's just £6m per season.

I hear you when you want spend money on players but they have got to be the right players. Big Chris was saying recently that there would be lots of championship defenders who would be happy to come north to Celtic. But these may not be good enough. BR said he tried to get players in during the window but they had to be better than what we already have and you would not want to upset the harmony that clearly exists within the squad. look over the river and see the trouble expensive outsiders can cause without actually improving the team. Could you this serco side is any better than last year they spent a lot more than us.

As in any big business there are different sections with different budgets. Stadium and property comes from a total different department to the playing squad. Even if the 18 million wasn't going on the hotel it wouldn't be going on playing squad.
It would be going on some other part if the infrastructure of the club.
People keep mentioning figures like 60 million as if that's a profit.
It's not.
The accounts were published recently and although there was a profit it was nowhere near that sort of figure.

Whos to say the 18mill even comes out of the pot for signing players. i trust the board and they will have done there homework there will still be signings calm down irish.

We need to wait and see how much we spend in players. If we don't then this to me isn't the best way forward. We've spent £5m on players with two lots of CL money banked.

I am all for this increasing income streams, but, people will fill the hotel to see a better team. We need to strike a balance and £5m is way short of that. As I said, let's wait and see if we invest in the players we need to move forward.

We need a full back, another centre half as a minimum. An injury to either Boyata or Simo and we are back to square one.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - The hotel plans have nothing to do with playing budgets or wagebills but I suppose some people need to find a negative to keep themselves happy, even if it's not true. Should we cut back on improving and investing in Lennoxtown and the academy because we're needing a CB, even though we've got, Sviatchenko, Ajer and Lustig, Tierney and Bitton who can play there? How about cutting back on CP's maintenance and improvement budget to offer Roberts EPL wages? Think of the savings if we stopped paying for stewarding and used volunteers, any other cost cutting ideas just so we can spend more money on players? Make the Celtic View black and white maybe?
Will all the people who will use the stadium because of it's location near the velodrome etc not stay there if Celtic don't buy a better team - a better team than winning a treble and a 56 (?) game unbeaten run? What better than that do you realistically want? Maybe we'd have beaten Anderlecht 4-0 if we had spent £20 million on the team.}

29 Sep 2017 10:24:37
We can't bank on the cl money coming in every year, the teams we're playing in qualifiers are getting better, the club are moving in the right direction and the grounds have been upgraded to an unbelievable level. The hotel and museum will improve it even more and bring in money to compensate the time, if it comes that we don't get to the groups. Upgrading the main stand will bring us more revenue too but I'd like to see more done to accommodate disabled fans, I don't think it's right that the most vulnerable fans are the most exposed to the elements.

29 Sep 2017 10:37:20
Rogers says he still needs that match winning type if players. I will go with his view.

As for not investing, again you jump in with what you think I said rather than what I actually said.

I welcome the increase in income streams, but it has to be balanced by improving the team. I don't think £5m to achieve Rogers own stated objectives is that balance.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - And what has any of that got to do with the planned hotel complex? Nothing - the hotel and the playing budget are nothing to do with each other. It helps if you know what you're talking about before you actually do talk, you should try it.

I am all for this increasing income streams, but, people will fill the hotel to see a better team. We need to strike a balance and £5m is way short of that. As I said, let's wait and see if we invest in the players we need to move forward.

So according to you the hotel will only be used by Celtic fans to see a better team, how can we improve on a Treble and 56 game unbeaten run? £5 million what, I have no idea why you keep mentioning £5 million.
You do know other people except Celtic fans will use the hotel and it's facilities don't you?}

29 Sep 2017 11:01:35
I personally am all for the hotel which will pay for itself in revenue and can only add prestige to our great club, i remember when they had great plans for casinos and floating pitches etc, we could only look across in envy now with pl at the helm this will be a well calculated move which will take nothing away from the player budget, bravo pl bravo celtic, lovin it right now, hh🇮🇪✌️.

29 Sep 2017 11:37:36
Thats what i was alluding to ed, there will be grants and sponsorship as well as other investors, the playing budget will be left alone or rodgers would be off me thinks, and as you say loads of people will use it not just celtic fans.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Spot on mate. There's basketball that gets played at the Emirates, so I'd imagine the visiting team, fans and officials will choose to stay right across the road, business conferences are held all year round there as well and people need to travel into the city centre for their hotel and I'm sure the Scottish Open Snooker tournament is held at the Emirates as well.
I think your run of the mill Celtic fans will find it difficult - and pricey - to get a room for a Friday night because they're going to the game on the Saturday because I don't think the hotel is specifically aimed at your average Celtic fan, it's part of the regeneration of the area and it will probably make more money from it's location next to the Emirates than being next to Celtic Park.}

29 Sep 2017 11:50:37
Some people will never be happy honestly it's frustrating to read negative posts on here we as a club are in the best shape we have ever been and yet the negative Nellie's still find something to moan about actually acting like spoilt 5 year olds lol if you can go through the week without a drama away over to the crumble dome plenty of drama there to fill your boots, hh.

Not sure how it works on the Celtic hotel but a lot of the hotels have landlords and are leased out for a number of years by the chains . Full proof money earner and hotel run by hoteliers.

I think they try too hard to be accepted as unbiased professionals. I remember hating Davie Provan, my whole family did. But in Davie's case he was prob telling the truth we didn't want to hear. Charlie is just thick tho. Andy a total sell out which makes me wretch. and who gives a feck about Coyle?

Not sure they will, but if Scotland Qualify for world cup which runs from mid June to mid July, think our chances getting to CL group stages would be really tough, given the amount of international players we would have in the tournament.

Bayern are like an ageing superstar, their best days are behind them, they are there for the taking, if you play them the right way, whatever that is, but in a report I read in the paper PSG were happy to let them have possession then hit them on the break, which I thought was an interesting observation, don't know if it's accurate, as I haven't seen anything of the game, but Celtic have fast forwards as well, and it might be a way to play in Munich, I think the PSG score in Glasgow was an abberation, PSG weren't that good in Glasgow, Celtic were that poor they made PSG look good, that's my opinion, and I won't accept PSG as being an exceptional team until they beat a team that isn't starry eyed to be in their company or have too many players the wrong side of thirty.

Agree0 Disagree2

29 Sep 2017 09:50:21
This to me us the worst time. The players feel that he played the wrong players and tactics. If this us altered they will have something to prove. To think we can go and beat Bayern Munich at home is to ignore the basic facts of our relative positions.

A draw would be a brilliant result.

As I was saying . The central defenders were superb and the full backs put in an amazing shift at both ends of the park.
Scott Btown was immense (again) doing a double- shift until Ntcham eventually got going - and he really came onto a game.
The front players did more than their share chipping in with a goal-apiece and the subs did their jobs to ensure a fantastic result.
A 3-0 away win in the CL - even when we took time to get into our rhythm = superb!

Believable9 Unbelievable0

I thought most the outfield played really well. Tom Rogic couldn't seem to get involved and influence things and Sinclair was quiet as well but at least got a goal. Always a threat on the break. I was particularly impressed by Jozo and Boyata who, like Ntcham, started a bit sloppy but came onto a game as well. Hopefully that's a kickstart into what I've been saying could be a really good partnership. Any win away in the CL is fantastic but to think we still could have had an extra 20% in us is even more encouraging. I don't like to rely on other results but unless Anderlecht can shock Bayern or PSG or give us a hiding at home, we look pretty safe to drop into the UEFA cup, which would be Progrès and was a personal target of mine. Delighted with last night, sore head today though.
