big debate on the dark side page about how many of their players would get a game for us!

Here's my old firm (or celtic/sevco) select for 2013/14!

Forster
Lustig Van-Dijk Ambrose Izzy
Ledley Brown Mulgrew
Forrest Commons
Samaras

Think you're delusional.

Mathews would be in ahead of Lustig

Subs. Zaluska
Mathews
Biton
Rogic
Atajic
Balde
Pukki

You changed your selection as you said youd prefer wallace to izzy, why change it? Not want your fellow celtic fans to get upset and dispwn you?

Gaz.

Manager - Neil Lennon.
The alternative isn't a manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bench:zaluska kayal mathews
Rogic stokes.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only one who might make the bench is Wallace.

The only others I know from playing the SPL are Templeton, Law, Black, Daly and the goalie. Templeton was showing potential at Hearts and maybe at one point but he doesn't seem to play and the rest are a No.

@3 who said wallace b4 Emilio gaz?

Come on Mrs E you've obviously forgotten about that footballing maestro Slugger McCulloch. Stevie

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaz- I said i'd take wallace as competition for izzy, izzy would still be my first pick.

What about taking that defender Cabalero I think his name is. I heard Charlie knocked a head off the dummy wall when practicing free kicks at Lennoxtown today.Stevie

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh I forgot about McCulloch Stevie, eh he's also a No!

The only one is maybe Wallace.

Obviously this is only my opinion and some may not agree, but what fun would it be if we didn't vary?

I'd seriously punt Stokes, I think he's utter dross. Folk say Sammy only turns up in Europe? At least he turns up somewhere cause Tony is an average SPL striker at best who if it wasn't for the fact being an Irish Republican would've been witch hunted out of Paradise a long time ago!

My reasons behind saying he should be the next striker to go is based on him and Pukki being too similar to be played together. Stokes has been at Celtic longer than Pukki, and (again in my opinion) hasn't really improved since he got here. He rarely beats the offside trap, and/or struggles to stay on side when a team doesn't play with a high back line.

Also, how many goals has he scored in Europe, domestic Cup Final's or against the Deady Bears? I can't ever remember him scoring in a Cup Final or against Them, only time I can remember him scoring in Europe was a brace at home to Rennes in the Europa League a few years ago?

I just feel it's time for him to move on and give someone else (hopefully Pukki + Balde doing the Little + Large role) their opportunity in the Hoops.

I'm with you on Stokes, I don't think he's good enough for the spfl never mind anything else. He'll be lucky to get 20 goals this season which is very poor for a celtic striker - especially one who doesn't offer much else to the team.

I don't think there'd be a big queue to sign him tho, no point in selling him cheap for the sake of it. As for pukki/balde - I'm getting tired of having to defend them - they deserve a proper chance, which for me is 18 months. one year to settle in - new country, new culture, demands of the club etc. then half a season to prove themselves. Either could go on to be a celtic legend if we just give them a chance. I was delighted for balde getting a goal at the weekend, and he took it well.

What I will say though is right from big pierre, through cadete, viduka, larsson, sutton, hartson and even madonald & hooper we've not struggled for 30+ a season strikers. I don't see any of our strikers getting close to that this season. Assuming this is a one-off I can live with that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree: Big Sutton claimed that Mulgrew was our version of Rio, in my opinion Stokes is our version of Rooney and not just his fringe., .,

@2 HA HA HA HA Sorry man but that's the funniest thing I have heard in year's and I like Stokesy

@3 tommyboy haha to me or big sutty?

Agree0 Disagree0

Saying Stokes is our Rooney is laughable. He couldn't lace a very off form Wayne's boots!

We're definitely missing a 20+ goalscorer, I think we really need to push the boat in January rather than leaving it to next summer.

Folks
I'm hopefully heading to the home game against Hibs on 14th December. I phoned the ticket line but they don't have anything on general sale just yet except the hospitality packages and they don't know when they might have. Any ideas when they could be available?

Sorry folks, but I have to agree with BBJ further down. Balde looks a terrible signing at the minute and an awful lot of money for someone who looks like he only took the game up a year ago.
Pukki does have talent, whether that talent is up front for us is another matter, but i'm still confident enough he can be a good signing for us.
But Balde? I would really like to know how he was scouted and how the price tag was reached, as at the minute I would be astounded if he ever becomes a first team regular.

Just some thoughts for the future, the following players are out of contract next summer:- Ola Tovinien, Scott Allan, Craig Gardner, Lee Griffiths, Tom Ince, Kevin Doyle, Shane Long. This group would improve the squad no end, the offer of long contracts with CL football as an incentive little risk ( Griffiths excluded but he seems to have settled and Stokes is just as unpredictable). The following could be bought cheaply Gary Mackay Stevens, Kevin McHattie, Stuart Armstrong, Graham Dorrans, Alex McCarthy, Tim Vyrynen, Pontus Jansson ( swap for Bangura) All of these are better than our singings of the last two years ( Ambrose and Van Dijk excepted) . Also what does Neil Lennon think of Johnny Russell now. For January what about loan offers for Darren Fletcher. Alex Buttner, Wilfred Zaha
Just some observations maybe more end of contracts out there that you know of

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't be stupid mate. The continued downgrading of the squad will continue. Ledley replaced by Craig Bryson or Dougie Imrie, Samaras replaced by Amido, Forster replaced by Jamie Langfield. And the usual suspects will hit us with the "Do you want to end up like Them?" guff because we demand like-for-like replacements.
