Every time I watch Scotland Robertson is pants kt streets ahead, very strange and Clarke is bang average.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Mar 2021 22:21:22
Scotland are suffering from what I used to call the David Beckham syndrone, but henceforth will call the Scott Brown syndrome, or maybe to be more correct and in anticioation of future Scotland selections will change that and call it the Andy Robertson syndrome, this phenomenom occurs when you name a player as team captain, because he is the best player in his position, he is hard working, honest, a leader on the field, there is no argument with him being captain and first name on the team sheet, but then this happens, the captains abilities wain, someone else comes along who is a much better player in the captains position, so that is the dilemna all these managers seem to have, as they tear their hair out, aaaaargh how can i drop my team captain?, so they dont.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 22:24:33
Clarke is the messiah and must be the next celtic manager.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 22:24:52
I have not watched KT recently as I do not watch Scotland or the Premiership, so accept things may have changed.

That being said, I have always thought Roberston was better than KT going forward and KT was better at defending, which is not to say I thought KT was bad going forward as that is not the case.

Because Scotland won't dominate games like Liverpool, then I am not surprised to hear that KT is playing better than Robertson is.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 11:51:19
Robertson is only better going forward in a good team who play him in. KT is far better at taking on his man and so is far more effective for Scotland.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 21:02:08
I used to think Ryan Christie was a great wee player i can see why a large section of our fans don't want him. He is really poor now.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Mar 2021 21:36:28
Christie and John McGinn are two of the most overrated players in Scottish football history!

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 21:44:21
He was of many of our players that have regressed massively over the last 12 months, would love to know what’s happened to these guys.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 21:58:38
Playing wide hasn’t helped Christie all season.
His confidence is low and he looks a shadow of himself.
Ryanspappa is right because Christie is one of a few.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 21:59:19
He just seems to run about like headless chicken at times. We be best shot of him get in 3-5 million id be delighted.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 21:59:49
Neil Lennon is what happened! 😩.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 23:04:32
Christie is not an international class player, but McGinn is world class, can't say I was impressed that much with Chey Adams, but might be worth persevering with, if I was manager I would always have LG ready to come on, off the bench, and don't forget, Israel are a decent team, so a not bad result for Scotland.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 07:45:06
Aindih
Think your using the words world class very loosely. Pele, Maradona, Messi-John McGinn 🤔🤔🤔🤔.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 08:27:39
Mcgonn is top drawer no argument.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 20:13:03
What a total mistake we made by paying £5m for Barkas instead of signing Marshall for free.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - And then people could moan that we took the cheap option and signed a free rather than investing in a GK.}

28 Mar 2021 20:40:23
That’s true if you don’t take into account Marshall’s mistakes for the goals Scotland have conceded this week.
First goal on Thursday and tonight’s goal.

Ask, anyone who wants Steve Clarke at Celtic is a moron.

Agree4 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 20:54:02
There has to be so reason for barkas being so poor. Report where it true or not are saying not been able to be or see his family during the C.V. it a major factor for his poor form. Not sure how true that is but surely he can't be as bad as he has been this year. Big decision now for the new management team to stick or twist.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 20:48:52
Jonboy, the gift of hindsight is a great thing.

However, all the club can do is scout a player properly and if after they have carried out their due dilligence and they think he is good enough to play for Celtic then they are correct in trying to bring him to Celtic.

From what I have seen of Barkas before coming to Celtic, I would say that he looked like a good goalkeeper and had performed at a high level.

Unfortunately, it has not worked out for him so far but one think is certain, the boy does have good ability.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's what I'm saying on the other thread with you, LAW, I don't doubt that Barkas is a good 'keeper but do you think people who have seen him play for years in Greece would say that he's a bad 'keeper now or just made a bad move for one reason or another?}

28 Mar 2021 22:00:36
I would imagine the people in Greece would still rate him as you say.

Obviously I am surmissing here but my guess is that the 10 in a row was massive to Lennon and he got the players either too hyped or too scared and that impacted on them. The fact we got a psychologist in during the season, would suggest there was something mentally bothering players.

This, added with C.V. restrictions and moving to a new country, would no doubt affect a player mentally. This is what I think happened to Barkas this season. Personally, I would not try and sell him this season and would give him another year to prove himself, assuming he wants to stay and rectify what happened this season.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I totally agree about giving him another year under a new regime to regain his confidence with a clean slate. Between the YT videos and the fact Stevie Woods scouted him for 18 months and really pushed for his signing tells me that there's a good 'keeper in there. And don't forget Woods and Hammond convinced Lawwell to part with £5 million for him.}

28 Mar 2021 22:26:53
Agree with all that Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 22:27:22
Jonbhoy genuine question what are you basing that on. Marshall has been piss poor the past 2 Scotland games, cost us again tonight.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 23:08:56
cant make up my mind if he is a good goalie that has gone bad or is a bad goalie that had a purple patch and now is reverting to type, might just be a confidence thing, but sometimes you never recover when your confidence is dented, as in Frank Haffey.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 23:12:47
Followed Greek football for a long time and imho Greece has never produced a good goalkeeper. Hence why the current No1 is a German lad!

Celtic should have kept Craig Gordon and reinvested the £5M on a centre back, but in saying that they would have probably bought Duffy!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 08:19:18
I have seen Aek Athens a few times at my brothers house and Barkas look liked a great keeper I was delighted when he signed, I think as previous posters have said, being away from home and not seeing his family along with being stuck in his house on his own has probably played some part in his poor season I think he should get a clean slate and have a complete do over.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 08:31:29
OK mitigating circumstances but for god sake make a save son. anything just make a save . the first time I saw him my first reaction was he doesn't fill the goal and he doesn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 11:15:06
Mally, I agree he has been shocking this season and he needs a massive improvement.

While I think he deserves another chance, I do not want to risk going into next season with the 3 gks we have and we need to replace one of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 19:59:10
Just watching the Scotland game and the lad Dasa at right back has caught my eye a few times. Seems solid plays for Vitesse Arnhem and 28 years old ticks all the boxes for me.

Steve Clarke is horrid. Walter smith was more adventurous.

Any new manager is going to be given a certain budget that he will have to work within.

He may also be told that he can spend a certain % of any fees from players he sells.

From this budget he will have to prioritise certain areas as he may not have the resources to cover all the positions he would like in the first window and it will probably be a 2-3 year turnaround.

With this in mind would you want him to spent a significant chunk of that on Lewis Ferguson when he comes in?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Mar 2021 18:58:23
No, I believe we have better young MC who if given a chance could do a job for us.

I’m terrified that the board are going to hire Keane give him big money chasing the automatic CL spot. Rather than now take the opportunity to build everything around a modern counter pressing style of play. Which a don’t think Keane is capable of doing.

Hire Keane, my boy can pay for his own seat.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 19:01:39
Better than spending a big chunk on the likes of Kouassi and bayo.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 19:27:19
IF he comes in. I think more teams than us will be looking at him, including Sevco.

Aberdeen could also do what they did with McKenna and set a ridiculous price tag. A midfield 3 for them of Ferguson, a brown and Mcrorie isn't too shabby.

I think this will could be a record window for fees in and out.

If we sold Ntcham for £4M and could get Ferguson for £3M I'd be happy with that.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 19:32:40
The market prices due to the C.V. will be different now. Even if he was 5m he is worth it. Look at what we paid for ajeti, barkas and polish paddy.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 19:34:38
Kev you no getting on the podcast chats?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 20:06:38
LAW, if signing Lewis Ferguson uses up a significant chunk of the transfer budget the new Manager will get then next season will be worse than this one.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 20:08:36
Plenty a few more names we could add to those two Kev83 where we've wasted a small fortune on duds.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 23:12:50
O'Donnel might do a job at right back.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 16:59:46
No sell on fee and would be on decent wages but we could do worse than look at a few of the following free agents to add a bit of experience to the squad:

Asmir Begovic- GK - Bournemouth
Sergio Romero- GK - Man Utd
Romain Saiss- CB - Wolves
Danny Rose - LB - Spurs
James Mccarthy- CM - Crystal Palace
Robbie Brady- LM - Burnley
Josh King- CF - Everton
Dwight Gayle- CF - Newcastle

One or two of these could be prudent business. My two picks would be Begovic and Saiss.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Mar 2021 17:14:49
Begovic is a great shout Del, 33yrs old and has plenty of good games in him.
Don't know anything about Saiss, 6ft 3" and at 31 would add experience.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 17:30:57
Saiss still gets plenty of game time at Wolves Pedro. Left footed centre half. Stocky build, not the fastest but by no means a carthorse. Good positioning and awareness. We could do a lot worse in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 17:38:13
Let's hope if you're aware that players like this are available shortly, the incoming Manager is too 👌.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 17:38:26
End up having to replace the lot within 2 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 17:53:29
You're on fire 🔥 Kev.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 18:03:41
Every player on that list you could easily get 3 or 4 good years out of them.

Even if they need replacing after 2 years its only 1 or 2 players. Its highly unlikely any club will go out and sign 5 or 6 players aged 29 to 33 at the one time.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 19:02:54
Del bhoy that is the same rubbish we hear everytime some old has been from the EPL heads North.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 20:58:24
Kev, would you rather stick to signing prospects like Kouassi, Bayo and Klimala?

Goalkeepers at 33 are hardly past it. Between them over 150 caps at international level. You don't get to those numbers by being a bad player.

Older players we have took from down south in the last 3 or 4 years have generally done well, Forster (31) , Sinclair (27 or 28) the clear success stories. Duffy is the obvious exception but I feel for the boy as a combination of factors seemed to go against him coupled with personal circumstances has made him one of our worst signings in recent history. If you go further back to the likes of Carlton Cole and Kazim Richard's I'd argue the players I listed are of a much better calibre than those two.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 01:21:25
We would do well to get Romero. I mentioned Saiss a few months back as a stop gap for a few seasons good experience and wages aren't to high currently either. If Griffiths was to leave in this window I'd take Gayle as a replacement he'll score for fun in Scotland.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 08:54:27
Del Bhoy the players on your list being from the premier league will probably be on significant salaries, so, do you think they would be willing to take a massive drop to come here.

I think his most iconic moment was his celebration when we scored against oldco.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 15:05:27
Not so much a favourite moment. When Browns sister was dying of cancer and his game had dipped big time, the fans and the press were slating him left, right and centre. Throughout all the turmoil he never complained or made excuses. He done his best to manage his personal struggles and get back to form and I really admired him for that.

In the huddle for the Invincible treble. "We don't lose this game". Warrior.
On field always loved the last minute winner against Hamilton. Home game against them you expect a cricket score. 95minute winner most of the crowd had chucked it.

Well done on another cracking podcast last night guys! In terms of the Lewis Ferguson question, I think there's nobody better to take him under their wing than Scott Brown so do you think there could be a possibility of buying him and loaning him back to Aberdeen next season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks, Kev. It's a no from me, if we sign Ferguson get him in our squad.}

28 Mar 2021 12:17:41
Fair enough Ed. Can definitely see the benefits of that if we get a manager who can develop him properly. Either way I'd be all for getting him in.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Me too, Kev.}

28 Mar 2021 12:37:03
And on the subject of family allegiances; I've worked with Scott Brown's old man and he didn't come across as overly fond of Celtic lol so for me it doesn't make a difference.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That won't be an issue for the Ferguson family, Kev.

28 Mar 2021 13:22:45
Personally i don’t think he’s that good, the majority of the time I’ve seen him, he’s either getting booked or sent off . I can’t see how it would improve the team going forward, the same goes for Alan Campbell . To improve we surely have to be looking at a better calibre of player than these two . I’ve seen quite a few people putting forward Campbell, so basically to we look to Motherwell to get our centre midfield pairing . We will be fighting to win back our title this season, we need to make a statement with our signings to show we mean business . The Sevconians will definitely sign more players now they are champions, and we will need to show our mettle to try and get it back . 20 odd points is quite a deficit to make up when we are losing 50-60% of the first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 13:54:11
I am in agreement with you Quinn, really do not rate him as a footballer.

He is good at putting the boot in but that is not what Celtic need when you see how our team get refereed.

I will ask my questions again as they are valid when we are talking about Ferguson.

1. How much do you think he would cost us if they wanted 5 million for that donkey McKenna?

2. Whose position would he take? McGregor? Turnbull? Soro?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 14:29:16
Surely if we have learnt nothing from this season it is we need strength in position all over the team. U said who's position would he take but what happens if any of those u mention get a serious injury like forest did this season. So are we to go into the new season with just mcgregor, soro and turnbull? Ferguson for me would be a great addition to the squad and provide great competition in the midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 14:41:07
Being honest he's never really stood out for me likes a wee kick. ad beooking fir better and this has nothing to do with the kids family, couldn't care less I just don't think he's what we need young turnbull is far superior. slightly different position but no for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 14:58:59
@Ter - I agree that we need strength in depth but we actually have loads of depth in that position.

N'tcham, Rogic, Henderson, Bitton, Robertson, Shaw and Connell.

The reason I asked two questions was to highlight that unless you thought he was going to be in the starting XI, then we would be paying a lot of money for someone to warm our bench.

Personally, if we are going to be spending big money bringing in a midfielder I would want them to be better than what we have and going straight in to the first team. However, this is not an area I would be tackling in the summer as we have plenty of cover and strength here and other positions, more in need of attention.

This summer is going to be a massive rebuild for us with people leaving and contracts ending. Therefore, I think it is important we focus on the areas that need it like GK, LB, RB, CB, Wingers and strikers.

We are going to be bringing in at least 8 players in summer if we want to address the deficiencies in our team and add cover.

p. s. I reckon Aberdeen would want somewhere in the region of 3 million or upwards for him. I personally do not think he is good enough to warrant that kind of fee.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 14:45:05
I agree with you Ter. We need a strong squad to compete on all fronts and help when we lose players to injury or suspension. I think he'd be a good addition and he's got a strong mentality. He's a bit rash and hot-headed but so was Brown when we signed him (and for about 10 years after) . I haven't seen any of Campbell so can't really comment on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 17:45:42
LAW, of the seven players you've named;-
* 3 will hopefully be away in the Summer - Rogic, Bitton and Ntcham
* 3 are untested youngsters who are not showing any signs of getting anywhere near a start in the first team
* 1 is still to join us.

We need a squad of players whether that's Ferguson, Campbell or others as there will be plenty existing stage right.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 18:04:09
You may be right Pedro and if that happens then, yes we will need to bring someone in.

However, my point still stands, does Ferguson make the first XI before Turnbull, McGregor or Soro? If not do you want to blow a lot of money on someone who is going to be on the bench or would you prefer to spend the money elsewhere?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 19:44:15
For me LAW he could go straight into the team. Of the guys u named above apart from Shaw who is unseen l think he is every bit as good or better in most cases.

28 Mar 2021 22:29:54

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks, Richy. I think the latest Howe stories/rumours are being driven by the betting markets and still no pics of him in Glasgow is there?}

28 Mar 2021 12:38:25
With the way things seem to be going every manager in work out work will be linked to the job i don't think they know what they are going to do apart from laugh at all the press stories being printed. The board are just waiting to see how low the press will go for a story haha and in the meantime the celtic fans are kept waiting just like we have for a performance on the park too. The clock just keeps going i will be astonished if we name the new set up before the end of May even into June the way things are going.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 12:38:36
I thought the market's reacted to the rumour. Though I thought they would of reacted again to a quiet day he howe went out again and keanes odds shortening. Instill think the 5/ 1 on Keane just now is a good price. However, I noticed that they pay out on kennedy if he there 10 competitive games. He will be there 9 if in to end of season, and over 10 if wins a few Cup games so that is probably the most sensible bet at this stage. (As sensible as betting gets)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I meant that because Howe is now the bookies favourite all of a sudden stories pop up about golf with Desmond or Lawwell and he's in Glasgow etc etc.}

Pedro. Will a new manager want ferguson and Campbell do we buy them before one is appointed? will he like calmac turnbull soro shaw or youngsters like Henderson Connell mcinroy robertson. I'd imagine any new guy would also have a list of players he would like in these positions? .

Ferguson still has 3 years left on his current contract.
He signed a new 5 year deal in 2019.
Aberdeen will be trying to build a team under their new manager.
We seen how stubborn Aberdeen were with McKenna, when they asked for a crazy transfer fee.
I don’t mind paying £3 million, similar to Turnbull who with Ferguson are both Scotland U21 players.
I think Ferguson will continue at Aberdeen next season because Aberdeen will demand at least £5 million and no club will be willing to pay over the odds for a player who isn’t a full Internationalist.

DRB, don't disagree but I can't double guess what any new potential manager may / may not want.

CalMac and Turnbull should fit into any 'system' and I'd hope that any manager worth their salt would rwalise this and build a team around them, using any transfer funds to build a defence and forward line.

Although he's not had his best season I'd take Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen as he'd bring a bit of bite to the midfield.

I have no idea how much the next two would cost but in the Europa League they really impressed me:
Alexander Bah - Right back from Slavia Prague.
Nicolae Stanciu- Attacking midfielder also from Slavia.

Slavia's big centre forward Sima also looked handy enough as well.

I'd push the boat out to sign Elyounoussi permanently as well.

Get Ben Davies up here as well as he absolutely strolled most Championship games I seen him play.

Fair points Buzz on Ferguson, wasn't aware of his contract situation but agree Aberdeen would be asking silly money.

Some interesting shouts for players Del except for Elyounoussi, for me he's got ability but I'm not convinced he's got enough heart for the fight we will need next season.

doig from hibs should be the first.

I think Elyounoussi could take over from Edouard as the main man. Under the right manager he could flourish.

Doig is a great shout for LB as well.

Haven't seen much of Doig, do you think he has the minerals to make the step up?

I agree del bhoy. There's a definite class act in elyonoussi. If new manager could get him fired up I think he flourish. Little glimpses here and there of top notch player He seems to have everything technically. Just requiring some fire in belly and motivation as drifts in and out of play. Think he capable of being main man if he wants it.

I think we need be looking at better than Lewis Ferguson Turnbull has had some good displays. But seems to me to tire around 60 mins Which would explain his being subbed most games. Against Sevco he was treading water trying track back. Don't think we should be hailing him as some sort of saviour automatic pick As yet he has done little. Some nice moments I like him but want see him dominating games Stepping up and taking game by scruff of neck but to do that I think he need be much fitter I think squad player going forward like a rogic of old.

P73, Turnbull seemed to manage 90mins okay at Motherwell before he singed for us? 🤔

Do you think subbing him for Sicknnote Rogic in so many games this season is inspired coaching?

Pedro71 I think if he is struggling track back which witnessed with own eyes against sevvies. After 60 mins. Being subbed a necessity Not inspired. 90 mins for motherwell not enough for us As said I do like him. But feel he has to offer more. Reading through some of posts about him most fans got him down as unstoppable superstar. I hope that this will be case in future. But it is hope. At this point IMO he needs get fitter and has everything to prove to show he can become undroppable. As said I see a luxury type in rogic of old fashion.

I know we can still win the cup and give Broony another trophy for his impressive haul but I'd rather give him some of our youth players on loan so that they can continue their development under the watchful eye of Broony. He can get them ready to challenge for the starting eleven. Must say Im looking forward to next season even if a little apprehensive with regards to recruitment. On the bright side can't see thjngs being any worse than this year ( hope that doesn't come back to bite me)
