Steven Caulker next?

29 Jun 2016 09:41:42
Never seen him play . is he any good . is he better than the boy Duffy whose linked. . or is toure the best option.? Maybe we'll get a pleasant t surprise and someone better we didn't expect will arrive.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 22:30:33
Still in a bit of shock about BR first signing when you consider the amount of top teams that had a eye on him shows great ambition definitely worth the wait one of Europe's top prospects on a 4 year deal.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jun 2016 00:31:04
Dembelle is a 19 year old prospect, let's not put too much pressure on him, and expect him to be a superstar,

Agree1 Disagree2

29 Jun 2016 07:47:55
True mate but at least he's been playing and done good for himself. I've actually never seen him play but have read about teams after him for 2 years.

29 Jun 2016 08:24:28
I love how bbc sport have played this signing down by literally saying he's replacing Scepovic. This is a coup and we should be praised for bringing this highly rated player to Scotland and using it as a point to big up our league.

Agree2 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 09:29:14
The fact we are getting 1 mill for Scepovic (not to mention loan fees for last year pretty much recouping what we paid for him) and have signed Dembele on a 4 year deal is some outstanding buissiness.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 21:50:48
Delighted with the doumbelle signing and actual excited and think toure will be a solid contract.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

29 Jun 2016 09:30:25
I think Toure could well become a fans favourite. has done well at every club he has been at and has played at top, top level for a long long time.

Is there any news on what's happening with nick powell after his release from manu?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Blackburn have held talks with Powell.}

28 Jun 2016 22:08:15
Powell hasn't proved nun recent years that he has anything to offer Celtic.

28 Jun 2016 23:26:01
Was looking like he could have been a great player a few years ago aswell maybe he just need the right team/manager to get back on track

Have you heard anything about a move for Andrija Zivkovic Ed? I thought he was Benfica bound to replace Gaitan. This would be another incredible piece of business if we pulled it off.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I thought he was going to Benfica too until I seen your post. What a signing he'd be but I just can't see it happening. I don't know why the Benfica move didn't happen but here's what we've got on him:

Andrija Zivkovic has been of sustained interest to Atletico Madrid and Chelsea with Real Madrid, Valencia, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Spurs, Benfica and Cagliari all watching the player. Chelsea were looking to sign Zivkovic last summer and send him on loan, and Real Madrid has made similar advances that were also rebuffed. But it was Atletico who were probably best placed to complete a January deal - but could not get by complex ownership issues involving Pini Zahivi needing to be resolved first. He has recently popped up on Arsenal’s list of youngsters again.}

28 Jun 2016 22:01:26
Has his deal fell through with Benfica?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've no idea, I thought it was done and dusted.}

28 Jun 2016 22:23:57
I thought it was done and dusted too but read an article earlier which mentioned that the Serbian press have linked us with him in the last few days. Doubt it will happen but its the type of signing we should be trying to make. Sometimes feel we are scared of being turned down so don't even attempt to sign players who might actually be within our reach. Hopefully today is a sign of things to come.

Agree0 Disagree2

29 Jun 2016 04:22:47
LM67, I've sensed that fear of rejection for quite a long time. My dad always told me you're not a loser for failing, but you're a loser for fear of trying. This is the type of signing we should have been making all along. Every window there seems to be deals where I scratch my head thinking, 'why weren't we in there early for a piece if that? ' Well now there are a few clubs that will be looking at us kicking thenselves. By the sound of what the lad has to say as well, he didn't need to be dragged up to Glasgow. Just goes to show.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 08:58:13
Is this the guy that people call the serbian messi?, not seen much of him but heard he's the dogs danglers, not been this exited for the new season in decades.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 19:22:25
I must say it really is exciting times ahead. For me though this excitement should have started 5 years ago. Not putting a damper on anything lads. Just think of where we would be just now if we pushed the boat with wages and players we wanted to bring in.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

28 Jun 2016 22:15:26
Maybe it would have worked out well for us, and maybe not . What we have started this year, is still in the planning stage, things look good but as usual in football there is no guarantees . The good thing about us starting now is we have the excitement of hoping for success . That will sustain, us early in the season and hopefully we will have the success we all yearn for .

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 19:05:47
Ok ED : I know this is a long shot, but here goes,
after the loan spell is up we might, just might have a chance to sign Patrick Roberts.
I don't see PR getting anywhere near the Man City 1st team.

Thoughts anyone?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've had the same dream mate.}

28 Jun 2016 21:31:33
cprs1 and ed that might not be such as far fetched a shout as we might think especially now that wee Roberts ex Fulham mucker Dembele has signed for us and the young fellow seems to be enjoying it here. And now that it seems like the purse strings seem to be getting loosened we might be in a position to make a bid for the bhoy.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I never thought we had a chance in hell of getting Forster on loan for the second season never mind permanently signing him so fingers crossed. It was good to see that Roberts spoke to Dembele and shows how much he's enjoying being up here. He's got plenty of time to go back down south.}

28 Jun 2016 18:57:19
The excitement is immense around Paradise these days. New Regime, new positive approach, time wasters chased, quality signings coming in with Dembele the first hopefully. Even Lawwell has caught the bug and is loosening the purse strings.
And for a laugh go on the dark side pages, some are asking why the breadman never tried to sign him (honest they really are THAT deluded)
others are saying he is a "young unknown player" but best quotes were from my ex bear pals who in all seriousness told me "that Celtic signing Dembele, was on a par with them signing the Liverpool guy Rossiter, who everybody wanted also".

Oooft he made a few appearances wow, bet u googled that Ryan because like the rest of us you'd never heard of him.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 22:19:56
Because of his medical condition he has to rest up after playing . Instead of him doing the running for most of Rangers signings who are in their 30's, they will do their best to walk for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 22:58:30
Wow a goal in the cup against boro! God with him Barton and clint over the hill every other team would be aswell not even bothering to turn up on the first day of the season! Haha! Went over to the other mobs page and the signing of dembele has well and truly brought them back to earth! An actual quality player in his prime! And he won't be the last! and like Tim said, theyr actually suggesting Jose warburton would have had a chance in hell of signing him! It's actually scary how deluded this mob are! Hahaha!

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 23:25:15
Stating a point the guy with no knowledge said he hadn't played a 1st team game for Liverpool a only pointed out he had! don't see the problem.

28 Jun 2016 23:11:28
Ed001 around? are you aware of a medical condition for rossiter? had a quick look online can't see anything thought you would know?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he has had a few injury problems but nothing that bad. It was mainly considered to be due to growth, as he is still just a kid. He was pushed a bit too hard too early, due to being outstanding in the younger age groups. With him being physically small and immature, it took its toll on his body, but it should not affect him long term. Mostly it just halted his progression.}

29 Jun 2016 07:18:22
Cheers ed that's good to know 👍🏻.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 18:56:43
Excuse my ignorance but is Dembele any good? Never heard of until a couple of days ago? I know he is 19 but surely not another 'project'.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jun 2016 19:25:16
I'd go as far as saying he's the most promising striker I can remember us signing. He's rapid, strong on the ball and has great feet. He can operate in the wide areas comfortably too. He's started to score goals and his return was very good for a minging Fulham side. He'll have an impact domestically no doubt. But although talented, is still a project. I'm not going to say he'll take is to that next level (CL) straight away, but there's no reason he can't. What we've got here, is a player who in a couple of years, the way he's going, we could only dream of signing. In fact i'm still pinching myself now to be honest.

Strange how the MSSM who incorrectly linked us with D Graham and Fletcher didn't link us at all with Dembele. Surprise Surprise they didn't say Rangers 2012 were in competition for him.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 18:53:58
I've never seen dembele in action just the you tube today . he looks good but very raw . where does he fit in? Do you think we are going g two up front . is he ready / good enough to oust griff as main striker or is he a project? The supposed interest from epl could mean we're finally going in with enticing deals for players at this stage of their career rather than sitting on the fence and seeing them become too expensive . hopefully this is a new strategy . anyway good luck to the boy and hopefuly get a glimpse of him on Thursday along with young ajer.

Anybody hear that clown Alex rae trying to put a dampener on us signing dembelle, givin it we'll need to see if the boy settles, some players don't settle at all n he is French he might not settle. Away n geez peace ya wee clown he settled in London no problem, a know Londons different from up here but come on if he can settle away from home as a young teenager it won't be an issue for him to settle up here. Excellent first signing! Fantastic feeling that our club is finally showing the ambition we've been craving for so long. That should shut up Lee Wallace who claimed that we're playing catch up lol. He's the biggest signing of the summer in Scotland so far without a doubt.

28 Jun 2016 18:45:40
I'm still tryin to figure out how it's even possible for Scotland's champions to be playing catch up with a team who's just came out the 2nd tier! See Wallace has been taking lessons from Barton on how to talk utter pish! Really happy with dembele signing, think it's a great signing! A proper goal threat to challenge and help Griffiths! Excited about the Dembele Bhoy. But in the meantime, am I the only one who thinks that the SPFL players in general will give Joey Barton a rough ride and will wind him up in a way the English leagues can't. I think the good old Scottish humour will have his blood boiling in every game. lol.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

28 Jun 2016 17:46:33
I don't think its scott brown he should be worried about, i'd imagine the rest of the players in the league are itching to get tore in about him physically and mentally on the park. He will be lucky to get an old firm game with suspensions.

28 Jun 2016 17:51:40
Bhampot, yes I think so too. Broony is not necessarily his biggest challenge, it's the lads from the lesser clubs who will taunt him and take him to the edge of exploding. I suspect his fake French accent from his time at Marseille will be on the list! lol.

Being a Celtic fan of a certain age, I am not going to rejoice until the boy Dembele actually signs a contract with us. But if he becomes a Celtic player tonight the excitement will be palpable and well done Brendan Rodgers for making this happen.
My Tim pal gave me a few facts which are interesting, first of all the clearing of the decks of Stokes, Scepovic, Kazim-Richards and Cole. My pal reckons that has shaved about £40k off our wage bill, added to the £500k we are due for Wanyama there is Dembele's fee and wages covered.
Also Rodgers salary has been covered by the sponsorship of Magners on the back of our jerseys, circa £2m yearly my pal estimates.
Add on £1m for Scepovic, the extra 10,000 season tickets money AND our main sponsor Dafabet money and the club is in a very healthy financial position.
So, and it galls me to say it, but Well Done Peter Lawwell for doing what you do best looking after Celtic FC finances.
If we also make the CL group stages this season that will be the cherry on top of the cake.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 18:24:00
Having just seen the signing confirmed, I am delighted we have managed to fend off other interest and convince him to wear the Hoops.
I was a big critic of Lawell for the direction the club was taking since 2012, the apparent interference in team affairs and replacing our prized assets with cheap imitations.
However, the whole club seems to have given itself a shake and hopefully are focussed on making up for missed opportunities to establish our superiority.

Alright folks, first time poster. I was wondering, what's going on with Izzy? Seen that he's in the squad for the pre-season tour. I was under the impression he was off to find more first team football.
So if he's leaving at the at end of his contract (July 1st, I assume) then why is he over there?
Fingers crossed on Dembele, kids got potential.

Not only did England get beat off a country with 330000 people, they had the dream start of an early goal.
Icelands goals were well worked from open play with no hint of contention.
The only people to blame were the English players, management team and FA.
ITV commentators have to be the worst ever, people wonder why no one outside of England supports them!
Just wait until the merry go round of a managerial appointment followed by the same dross players saying 'how things have improved' etc.
