Jelle Vossen is meant to be deciding today whether he's staying with Genk or not so hopefully we'll get an update on that at some point. Obviously Janko negotiations are ongoing too but apart from that it's been pretty quiet over the past week or so.

I think this is the 1st close season in years I am not worried about not losing a top quality player. Yes we could lose VVD and I his biggest fan but would it be such a loss? I don't think so even though he has everything in his locker and I hope he goes on to bigger and better things. Lustig/Boyata could fit in there no probs. Even Johansen could be replaced with Henderson/Armstrong/Commons and I can't see anyone else leaving that we wudnt want to go. So all things considered I going into this season very optimistic and confident of seeing good football.After all that's all we want to see win lose or draw. Just 1 thing Ronny, make sure we get to the Champions League, pretty please lol.

I've give up on the whole club in just over a year. I've had the acknowledgement of my leg wetted in the jungle but I hate where Gcfc are going and the Bassas that are running it

I don't share your optimism regarding van Dijk. He is by far the best centre back we have had since the O'Neill days of Mjallby, Balde, Varga etc. It took us about 8 years to find a centre back anywhere near Mjalllby's class, is it going to take us another 8 years to find a replacement for van Dijk? He is an outstanding player, no other centre back like him in the world. How many centre backs chip in with 10 goals a season, including free kicks and runs from their own half? We'd miss him badly

Your statement above is false, when Mulgrew was POY in 2011/12 we got 93 points against 92 this year. He scored 9 goals and assisted in another 9 the goal difference was 63 compared to 67 this year and the goals against was 21 compared to 17 this year but it should be remembered he had a competitive servo to fight I think that would stand anyone in good stead as a defender. Also his record in Europe was better and he did not have a player as good as Denayer along side

I think once the VVD/Denayer partnership got going properly, it was one of the most solid, reliable and composed centre back pairing we have had for decades.
The success of last season was as much down to them - and their protection of Gordon - as it was to our attacking options and the magnificent Brown and Johansen.
We will really miss them and it is an area we need to sort out quickly - or the CL will pass us by again.
Lustig is a class act, but is injured far too often and we will never get an extended run out of him. Boyata, I know nothing about, but he will need time to settle and I will not even mention Ambrose and Mulgrew at centre back.
I think (all being fit) we have a very good outfield squad; however I would like a quality striker, goalie and as I said, the centre backs sorted and settled.

@JJ u might not want to mention Efe and Mulgrew but they were a big part of the team that got us to the CL remember.

Van Dijk is better than Mulgrew. That's unquestionable

ED007 according to what I have heard both Boerighter and Scepovic have been putting in a shift in training which is good news in Scepvic's case as it was reported last seaon he was a poor trainer, do you think Ronnie will include them both in his euro squad? Boerighter has competion now from Forrest, Mackay-Smith, Henderson and Scepovic will need to displace Griffiths, Stokes and possibly a new striker

{Ed007's Note - I still think Scepovic could be away before the close of the window but if Boerrigter is fit he'll surely get a run out during pre-season to see how things go, I think talking about him getting in the Euro squad is jumping the gun a bit.}

boerrigter wants out, he knows he has no future at celtic.

Good he is just a drain on the club finances

I think Scepovic (and Stokes for that matter - with all his baggage) could be replaced easily - even with other Scottish talent Like Russel, Cifci or Allen and Boerighter has never really made the effort or impact to deserve a jersey
