Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would never sign anyone based on a World or Euro's performance.

There is a reason why these guy's are playing for lower league sides

Evening ed ( folks)
Can anyone tell me what happened to the boy denilson played with ronaldo, Carlos, etc Brazil late 90s early 2000? Know he went to Spain world record price but can't remember much about him after this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He totally flopped at Real Betis, then really had mediocre performance's at Bordeaux before lowering himself to the MLS and sure it was somewhere ridiculous like Vietnam.

Agree0 Disagree0

He didn't do very well did he?

Agree0 Disagree0

Was there not a rumour a few years ago we were looking at him, sure I seen it somewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure it was when we were looking at hiddink for manager but we opted for Martin o neill. I'm sure Denison was playing for betis at the time and hiddink was betis coach. Might be wrong

Gents I know we are just starting pre season and Ronny and JC are just bedding into the club but I'm a bit surprised / disappointed we have not done anything in or out in the transfer window . Not even a rumour . We have clearly got the finances, I'm a realist I don't expect massive multi million pound signings but we should be making moves I believe mr law ell and the board have done a great job and will not slate them for keeping our club stable in such hard times financially but we do need to improve the squad . Hopefully we will hear something soon!

Celtic Always!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

One of the reasons we haven't heard any rumours is that Celic always try to conduct their business privately . With a World Cup on the usually nonsense of us been linked with every Tom, Dick and Harry isn't needed to fill spaces . Its a bit unreasonable to expect Ronnie to know what players in what areas he needs to strengthen to improve us . It's better he takes time and makes up his own mind., rather than other people buy or arrange to buy players for him . I don't care how long he takes as long as he gets the right players in, so that Celtic can have a good run in Europe .

I get what u mean mate we all like a bit of excitement but he's already said no one will be brought in before the KR games! Lawwell won't sanction any real money as the usual patter until CL qualification is guaranteed and still no real cash spent! But give Ronnie time he needs to learn where we need to add to suit his tactical decisions/ formations! I think we are in for a treat with his coaching and style!

Cheap manager ruled by Lawwell with zero budget, accept it.

Agree0 Disagree0

He might well be a cheap manager ruled by Lawwell, but so far I am loving what I hear. The most worrying thing for me is that the players are talking about the difference in training - why in the name of God was Lennon/Parker etc not doing passing drills, or more passing drills? I've been shouting about this for years, and it makes my blood boil, the primitive methods used by guys like Allardyce, and obviously Lennon, it should be outlawed. You only have to look at england during the world cup, the ball retention/skill level is truly appalling. Looking at the Argentinian Chile coach shows what progressive coaching is all about, it's never been/never will be about spending fortunes, it's about vision and imagination. I have always said the coach is the most important person at a club, it all stems from him. The coaching and scouting. A coach should be able to make players/teams much better, regardless of how much they cost/how good they are initially. I was thinking about Porto last night when watching the Columbia game, they are just a machine when it comes to bringing through world class players, recently - Falcao/James Rodrigues/Mangala etc etc, these are guys who are worth £50 million, we bring through guys that can't control/pass a ball. Hopefully there are big changes in store, we have a lot of average players, and we do need more quality/should be able to spend, but we need to do it properly. Hopefully a better structure is put in place for the next 20-30 years. No offence to guys like Chris McCart etc, he has a good reputation, but not for me, and I said this 5 years ago, we need top progressive youth coaches in place. If we spent £20 million on phase 2 of Lennoxtown, and revolutionizing the youth setup/coaching, scouting etc, I would be happy, even if we didn't spend much on ready made players. I want all the football dinosaurs chased out of Celtic.

You're wasting your time Paul, I'm sure there's a coaches badge with your name.on it somewhere.

I'll stick to marketing, and leave the coaching to Ronny/the 2 Johns. I know I go on a bit, it just makes me so mad that clubs like Porto/PSV/Southampton to name a few, clubs who are no where near as big as Celtic, can produce world class players every year, or players who are sold for multi-millions. There's the lad Memphis from PSV with half of Europe chasing him. Southampton have just brought in £50 million for a couple of their players. Yet we have Celtic fans on here saying we have a great youth academy, we don't even have a good youth academy. Well it might be good compared to the other mob, but they are hardly an example are they? Compared to the top clubs our youth academy/youth coaches are poor, that's my opinion, and I've been going on like a broken record about it for years. That's why I wanted John Collins in, even when certain fans where moaning, I knew he would help get the standards up - if that's the only thing you can hold against someone, that he is a hard task master, well that will do for me. I wish we had him years ago, and the manager has impressed me so far as well. The point I was really trying to make was that is it not a bad day when a young Norwegian coach is highlighting how bad we have been doing things for years? His record at bringing through young kids at his last club is sensational, hopefully with the extra funds he can produce some top top players for us, and I mean players who could go to a Barca/M Utd.

All of a sudden after a few positive statements to give the new Management team a lift, we now has a complete different coaching, football drill and ball control and use . I think and I hope that there is very little different this year at least, as Ronnie still much coach the team in defending and stopping crosses and defending set pieces . We also have to coach and make best use of our attacking set pieces . Great football with goals coming from flowing moves is great, but will we score enough to qualify and be comptitive in Europe . We have plenty of good young players and a strong first team squad plus money available, please Ronnie use all your assets sensibly and well by playing winning football that is good .

T T S
Any purchases by Ronnie over the next week or two would be likely to be a complete waste of money .
However, if it gives you an opportunity to criticise Lawwell, I suppose at least you will be happy .

Agree0 Disagree0

Im pleased with appointment of Ronny, even if he is a cheap option. However what I will say is, if adopting cheap option approach does not work again then I can't see too many supporters accepting same tactics for next manager

Agree0 Disagree0

If you ask me the Celtic fans just accept whatever the club does.

Celtic know the fans will follow and that's why we don't have big name managers or even big marquee signings.

I got fed up watching the same old guff and didn't renew my season book. I miss the bus trips to the games more than the actual footy itself.

I hope RD and JC bring back some quality football, attacking would be nice and if he wins a treble in the first year then what a way to shut people up.

Agree0 Disagree0

You might be right Kev.
However don't forget in times when there was more money about a club from Govan signed marque players and also big named Managers .
It isn't the size of the manager's name or his reputation that will make the difference to Celtic's future results . What we want is that our new manager gets the results and re-create the long founded belief in the Celtic way .
I wonder what the Celtic fans can do if they didn't accept what the board does Should they organise a march from the Louden to the Stadium and display green white and orange cards at home matches .

Agree0 Disagree0

I will always accept what celtic do why, because I'm a celtic supporter.killy.
