Makes good reading for those in denial!

Today is a black day in the history of Rangers Football Club and it is also a stain on the history of Scottish Football as the 140-year old institution comes to an end with the rejection of the CVA by creditors officially today. But with all the rhetoric of the titles from Rangers 1872 being transferred to Rangers 2012 - can the newco really claim these?
Two days ago Charles Green said: “The history of Rangers is not going to disappear just because HMRC decided to do an about-turn on what they have been suggesting over the last few weeks. This club’s history and traditions are based around its fans, their support and their loyalty and we’re going to ensure the new structure preserves that.”

While Rangers manager Ally McCoist said back at the start of May: “….make no mistake, we wouldn’t lose our history at all. We wouldn’t allow that to happen. If there is a team playing at Ibrox in blue shirts, it’s Rangers. I think I’m right in saying we only became a plc in 1899, which was 27 years after we were formed. Nobody really recognises that change, but there have been changes all the way down the years. Rangers are Rangers and that would be the opinion of the vast majority of people.”

Now there has also been the peddling of the notion that Celtic should not be able to claim their history pre-Fergus McCann era because the Parkhead side named The Celtic Football and Athletic Company 1888 ended under the Canadian’s tenure. However it became a subsidiary of Celtic FC plc, that change in name also heralded the most successful share issue in British football history raising over £14 million. The club was re-branded and renamed Celtic Football Club plc. A massive difference from the saga surrounding Rangers Football Club 1872, whose timeline started in 1872 and was broken in 2012.

Some fans of the Rangers persuasion may think that Celtic’s timeline was broken, but at no time did Celtic ever enter into administration or liquidation unlike Rangers, all that happened was a re-branding of a name nothing else.

Scottish football has a number of clubs who have ended up the same way as Rangers – going into liquidation and then being reborn as a newco – Airdrieonians, Gretna, Clydebank and Third Lanark.

Third Lanark went into liquidation in 1967 and has only re-emerged within Scottish football over the past few years. The current reincarnation of the Hi-hi’s cannot lay claim to the 15 trophies won by their fore bearers.

Likewise Clydebank formed in 1965 and went into liquidation in 2002, saw their history wiped out and consigned to history books, while they saw their registration bought over by Airdrie United under Jim Ballantyne after the Lanarkshire club’s previous namesake Airdrieonians went bust.

Neither Airdrie United nor Clydebank lay claim to the titles of their forebearers, neither do Gretna 2008 whose previous namesake Gretna Football Club were liquidated in 2008 and reborn as Gretna FC 2008 Ltd.

Of those clubs that went into liquidation a total of 18 major trophies have been consigned to the history books and have been honourably laid to rest along with the defunct clubs.

So what makes Rangers so different? They aren’t.

They may have won significantly more trophies than those clubs listed above, they may have had a long and successful history but that has all ended in 2012 whether they like it or not.

THE Rangers Football Club 2012 has now been born and awaits acceptance of its bid to not only join the SFA but also the SPL. June 2012 is the formation date of the newco and it currently holds no titles and no honours. Fans of THE Rangers Football Club can no longer claim to follow the world’s most successful club. The 54 championship titles, 33 Scottish Cups, 27 League Cups and the European Cup Winner’s Cup are not the property of THE Rangers Football Club 2012, despite what Duff & Phelps, Charles Green and Ally McCoist peddle to the press, they belong to the now defunct Rangers Football Club 1872.

Former Rangers player Alex Rae commented this week in a column in the Daily Record, and is very apt: “We can now say that 140 years of history have effectively come to an end.”

I think we need to stand up with the same verocity as we did with the spl vote. Newco fc have not been punished at all for any rule breaking apart from the 10 point deduction and fine for going into administration. They should be sent to div 3. There are still answers needed such as the penalty for taking sfa to court re: transfer embargo. Spl sanctions re: dual contracts. We cannot take our eyes go the ball. For football integrity we need to keep these points in the media. Thank you for the site ed {Ed007's Note - Thanks, your're welcome.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have Italy in a bet to win Ed007 and its nothing to do with Jordan lol !!

The Germans seen to have given up although I only seen the 2nd half.

Is anyone else getting fed-up with all this counting the passes made, same last night & the stats from the Italy v England game. I seriously do not care..I like goals not being told there was 366 or whatever passes. Mrs E {Ed007's Note - The stats part of the game bores me to death Mrs and can be manipulated to suit anything. It is when people use the 'assists' one to back up how good a player is that annoys me, there are too many factors for it to be accurate.}

Getting really fed up with this garbage now. Get this mob resigned to div 3 where they belong, someone tell them the truth about their liquidised club so they are under no illusion they have died along with their history, and then forget about them for the 3 years they say it will take them to return to the top flight. That will leave us free to talk about who we are going to sign to help us get a crack at the CHAMPIONS League.

When have they ever listened to the fans K-Dot?
It's not about the fans. Never has been and never will be. And most certainly not Celtic or their fans from here on in.
I know it's not what you want to hear,or even contemplate thinking about, but you were warned to be careful what you wished for.(Not you personally)lol.
Money...Power...Influence.
You only have to look at the Church for the perfect business model.
Rangers/Celtic/SKy- Money- power - influence.
SFA/SPL/SFL -Greed- Power-Influence.
Do the sums K-Dot.It's simple arithmetic mate. No Rangers,No Celtic,No TV money.
No sponsorship, investment. No league worth having. It looks like us bears weren't the only ones in denial.
I take no pleasure in this,i fear for our game unless these reconstruction proposals are brought to fruition.
Your post started off about the fans.
Rod Petrie of Hibs was the first to condemn us, according to this leaked report, these are his proposals. Wonder what the Hibs fans think now,if this is true?
P.O.B.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are wrong P.O.B.

The game cannot be held to ransom by the finances that one club brings to it.

If it means that all clubs, including Celtic, need to downside for the good of sporting integrity, then it will be a price well worth paying and we will have a far more enjoyable league and when Newco get back into it working up from Div 3, I will welcome them.

What do you want to do, continue with the old model where "Rangers" and most other clubs in the SPL are struggling to operate finacially. That's what the proposals amount to.

That is what you are advocating we continue to do.

We must have a league that is capable of survival without the finances of Newco.

I genuinely believe that in the longer term we as a country will have a far stronger product.

So what you are basically saying is that "Rangers" can run up huge debts and operate outside of the rules, then liquidate the club, and come back in another form debt free and be back in the SPL within one year. WHERE THE MAJORITY OF THE OTHER CLUBS IN THE SPL STILL HAVE DEBT.

Oh yes, these debt ridden clubs really need a debt free Newco.

Stop peddling the myth that the SPL needs Newco to survive. It doesn't. It simply needs to adjust accordingly.

Alright fellow tims, I've got to say all these so called rangers men coming out and speaking is not helping there cause one bit! They just make themselves look stupid and make more and more people hate there club!
You've got Donald Findlay in the papers today saying "the clubs who oppose rangers into the spl are being narrow minded. The stance is payback for rangers for the arrogance their success of a number of years because there is always a lot off envy towards a team who continue to win" do u not mean cheat there way to success Donald?
Then there's sandy jardine talking about players rejecting the newco "what they've done is seen as an opportunity to maximise there income" did these guys not take a 75% wage cut on the promise there club were not going to be liquidated? All they've done is pay duff n duffers fees!
Then theres obviously John browns interview last nite "This stadium that I was proud to play for, don't give Charles green ur money, give it to me and I'll put it in a bank account" aye right John dream on! Good luck with the lobotomy bomber!
We've also had Mark Hately, Andy Goram, Ally McCoist, Derek Johnstone spouting absolute p*sh every day!
These guys are not helping there cause one bit! Do the rangers fans want Brown and Findlay to be the voices off there new club? I would be ashamed to be a rangers fan! It's just music to our ears! keep it coming u bunch off fools!

There is a report that the SPL clubs will form a breakaway SPL2 if the Division 1 clubs do not accept Rangers. If Celtic have any part in this I will be utterly ashamed of them. It's okay for SPL teams to lob them out but not for Division 1 teams to think they should start at the bottom, no way. And I hope Celtic have nothing to do with this accomodating charade.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I am a wee bit disappointed The Celtic have been so quiet during all of this and presume they have been biding their time for one reason or another. However I hope we do take a strong stance and flex our considerable muscle and not bow to this total 'Cut-Up' job of appeasement.
Saw big 'Elvis' - Stephen Pressley on earlier condemming SPL/SFL and saying what many other managers are thinking. This re-organisation is nothing of the sort and a cheap conjuring trick, conveniently accommodating the ghost that was RFC.

Having just been alerted to the news of newco being allowed in to Division one,i feel i have to ask what our fans think. My first point is how amazingly quick the SFA,SFL and SPL can organise this cheating.Normally this lot move with the speed of a sloth, citing members getting together and meetings to organise is very difficult. It would seem the possible vanishing of the zombies circumvents these problems. As it stands, they are bending over backwards to allow a new team, with players leaving every day and unrest from fans and ex players,to avoid the punishments that are laid out in their own rule book! John Brown, the latest saviour to pitch up down Govan, claims Green told him things that forced him to quit, but he cant say what yet.Why john? Are you not engaged in a battle for hearts and minds?Or did Green tell you that your scouting was rubbish and your jacket was on a shaky peg? During last nights ibrokes rally, amid verses of derrys walls and the praising of an exposed sectarian bigot, findlay, brown constantly used the term "we" and "rangers".Some body tell him please, its over your "rangers"will be no more soon, why carry on with this farce? You are trying to take over a new company, why wont you say it? There was an angry mob atmosphere, with at one point the hotel Mr Green is staying in was shouted out, very silly in these times i thought. And this is what Scottish football is smoothing a path for?All this and not even mentioning the oldco sins that they seem to think they can walk away from without punishment!Do they have a licence yet? Why should the police and ambulance service attend their games when they have been stiffed out of bills? Grow a pair.Third division,no sanctions,no oldco backlash,no punishments.Third division and start again like any other club would. Its in the rules, apply them.........green jhedi

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Agree with the majority of your points GJ,however you continue to cross over from one continium to another and dilute the consistency of your posts.
After a pleading rant of "It's over, somebody tell him please"...etc. You then digress by associating the "Oldco's sins" to your argument.
The Cash cow scenario apart, it is blatantly obvious that "Rangers" in any form are not wanted. However the difference between wanting and needing something is often a difficult concept for people to grasp.
You correctly point out,and i couldn't agree more with you regarding the 3rd division,no sanctions,no backlash etc.
However it would appear the authorities think differently than either of us.
I wonder why?
P.O.B.

Agree0 Disagree0

Green Jhedi, when I first heard proposals I was angry like yourself.
But as ED007 says, no agreement reached yet by SFL.
This is all kite flying by Regan/Doncaster who should have the honesty to tell everybody what their plans are.
What I find shameful is the blatant attempt to get the smaller clubs on board with promises of money.
But then I took a step back and thought,
how can Sevco field a team with only 13 (at most) players. Do they have the funds to bring in new players. Then ask yourself what half decent player will go to a lower league, probably on a reduced salary?
Then as our ED007 says the paperwork needed for newcorpse is nowhere near ready, so they have more hurdles to overcome, despite Regan/Doncaster's help.
I believe no newcorpse anywhere next year. hail hail Timalloy

@POB:See what you mean about the timeline mate,my fault as it is a bit confusing. What i was trying to point out is if brown continues with this "rangers" nonsense,he has to acknowledge the trail of debt left behind it.As i have said before, newco should not have any punishments on them as they have done nothing wrong.Brown seems to be under the impression that rangers will be the same entity he played for,it will not.For it to be "rangers" he,and any other ex player, should have made their move when admin started,as i firmly believe liquidation could have been avoided, even with the BTC still unknown. On your authorities point,we all know why they need a new form of rangers in our leagues, but i am starting to get the feeling that there might be much more to come out...........green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

The authorities and Newco are playing a dangerous game here and it's not doing Scottish football or Newco any favours.

When I say Newco, I mean Charles Green's consortium, because his agenda is different from Newco supporters.

The authorities and Green are clearly driven by financial reasons.

To their credit, the majority of Newco supports want to start of in Div 3.

Like the majority of other Scottish fans I would happily welcome Newco into Div 3 so long as they are voted in democratically, which I think would happen.

There are many diffuculties facing Newco at present, but the one of timescales may be the one that causes the greatest difficulty. The 28th July is when SFL teams commence playing, with 2 weeks of cup competitions, and then the league kicking of.

The way things are going, we may not see a team ready or able to play in the league next season.

I would like to see Newco take control of the situation because the authorities are unable to. And for Newco to say that they want to play in Div 3, make the application and hopefully get voted in and get on with it.

The authorities and Green's consortium need to listen to Newco and other clubs fans - for once it seems we're all in agreement.

K-Dot.

Agree2 Disagree0

Fair points well made K-Dot.
It would have been considerably more poignant had you been a bit more frugal with the "Newco" over indulgence.
But i think everybody get's the point.

Agree0 Disagree3

P.O.B. - where have you been, "Rangers" are dead.

Newco do not have a football name, are not registered to play in any football league and are not registered with the SFA.

Dez

Believable3 Unbelievable1

To be honest Des,i'm getting tired of the whole scenario.
What the hell are the SFA/SPL playing at?
They have consistently passed the buck and delayed decisions on so many fronts, then want to jump in at the last minute with this proposal, when in all likelihood it will be too late for the start of the season anyway.
On closer examination you will see it's not a case of "bending over backwards" in any shape or form.
They are merely resetting everything back to ground zero. RFC to be punished...fair enough, but we are repeatedly told RFC does not exist.

As i understand it Charles Green is being held to ransom by the authorities.
He is being asked despite his cva proposal and SPL application having been refused to accept liability for DM and CW's misdemeanours.
Apparently further condtions of the proposal is that he also agrees to cessation of any court cases against future sanctions yet to be decided.
They are effectively holding a gun to the guy's head. It seems unfair to hold a new owner responsible for the actions of others, however i wonder if there is more to this than meets the eye.
Is this another test of C.G's resolve and financial sustainability?
Then there is the old chestnut of the "Cash cow" debate raising it's head again.
The appelate committee had other options open to them, expulsion being one of them, but cosidered this too harsh. Why? The punishment either fits the crime or it does not!
It's the same old story... Money.
Nothing to do with bending over backwards to help anyone down Ibrox way. Nobody wants us..But it would appear they can't do without us.

This is the article ed....jiggythetim: The BBC today report that the Gang of 10 SPL clubs have agreed a plan to re-write the rulebook of Scottish football in order to parachute Sevco into the second tier of Scottish football. They also report that Hibernian, Rod Petrie, briefed Charles Green of Sevco of their conditions to accept his plan. These conditions involve paying Rangers football debts and fines.

The plan involved the most almighty reorganisation of the league structure in order to gain enough support from lower league clubs to entice them to agree to place Sevco in the First Division. They also want to take YOUR money in perpetuity to buy votes from lower league clubs, and have included a provision to allow them to vote for a share of home gates – all to establish a club called 'Rangers'.

Crucially, the SFA, led by president Campbell Ogilvie and chief exec, Stewart Regan, have colluded in this scheme by not instructing the Appellate Panel to convene to consider Rangers punishment after the Court of Sessions told them to do so 30 days ago. It is expected the Appellate Panel will suspend 'Rangers' from football for a year when it convenes.

The Gang of 10's plan would require Rangers to withdraw their objection to the initial Appellate Panel ruling but it would also require the independent judicial overview of Scottish football to end before action is taken against the club for illegally registering players for over a decade, or for improper use of EBTs to scape social taxes, both of which are likely to expel the club.

Disciplinary rules cannot be changed because 'Rangers' are about to be punished. Leagues cannot be restructured to allow a team bearing the name 'Rangers' an easy passage to the top. This is no longer sport.

The utter stupidity of this scheme is staggering. They are making plans with a man who owns a stadium but who cannot call on any supporters. They are about to wreck Scottish football for a company who have yet to establish their financial viability.

Your money is being bargained away by every club in the SPL apart from Celtic. Are you happy about this? Will you continue to pay for Sky TV or ESPN? Will you continue to buy tickets to attend away games? Will you ever attend a League Cup or Scottish Cup game again?

Celtic paid their bills and conducted their business fairly and properly. Be under no illusion, these changes will destroy the Celtic you recognise. Forget your Champions League trips, you'll be scraping the bottom of the barrel with 'Sevco Rangers' in a few years. We cannot be exploited in this way.

It's time the entire edifice of Scottish football was brought asunder, better that than be subject to random acts of destruction. I cannot support any operation funding this enterprise so I'm cancelling Sky Sports and ESPN.

I don't get involved in the usual tit-for-tat stuff. But - and I'm not being funny lads - having just watched the 'Brown Bombers' impromptu rallying 'speech' at Ibrox yesterday........I was cringing with embarrassment.
Seriously, the finality of the whole situation is really hammered home by only 1000 fans(?!) turning up to hear a rambling, gruff, amateur 'speech' about title deeds. How the 'mighty' have fallen indeed.......bizarre.
Anyway, here's a thought Ed. Personally, I will be surprised if Sevco can get a team playing anywhere next season, as it is such a mess to be sorted out in such a short space of time.
If that turns out to be the case: Salmond and Holyrood already stuck their oars in over the 'Old-firm' last year. There are no more of these fixtures in the foreseeable future. The statistics (how politicians love statistics) will be there in black and white on life without the fixture. I wonder if politicians will be 'banging the drum' to get Govan Sevco saved/reinstated to there 'rightful' place after umpteen £million of Police, Ambulance, A&E, Court and Social Work savings are announced to the general public next year.
It may not be the SFL clubs who have the final say after all.......................kbt1978

Just seen that 'Newco' have been relegated to Div One by the SPL (further to discussions with SFL).
Regan & Co have done a Pontius Pilot and passed the buck to the lower league governing body to do their dirty work - with Sly Spots influence, no doubt a factor in this. I wonder how the other divisions feel about a club suddenly appearing in their top tier and gaining preferential treatment AGAIN.
The SPL is a cowardly and incompetent shower of sh*te and should be replaced with more honest and 'Untouchable' legislators.
The whole sorry mess stinks of corruption.

Tbh this was always on the cards. No one wants them so they get a year in div 1 & if they fail to make it they make 1 big league ?

Balls in rangers court now just about right now they have 11 players & 2 are gk. end of the day the old firm is finished as rangers are nothing more than a ICT team.

Last night one thing that ticked me of it when he said to the crowd "you are the investors". This patenly not the case. I doubt any of the assembled "fans" were investors. They were customers. It is not their season ticket money that ran the club. There was a £15million per annum short fall. That works out as each "fan" being subsidised over the last 10 years to the tune of £400 per annum. This subsidy being made up of stolen taxes, money syphoned out of MIH, "Investments" by Davve King, ENIC, Joe Lewis and Ellis a 27million pound sting on ticketus and ripping of about £30million from other traders and football teams.

If you look at it like that the fans are to blame, they got what they want, they just did'nt pay for it.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Ooofft! If you look at it like that your completely off your rocker!
Going by your definition you are a Celtic Customer??...Bizarre!
The rest of your post is equally bizarre.
Imagine Rolling stones fans being held responsible for all of Keith Richards and Ronnie Woods actions down the years.lol
You are a complete rocket mate!

Whats factually incorrect? Which of the fans have got stiffed in the liquidation. How many of them put the money where their mouth is and invested in the club. Did they not benifit from their club stealing £100million of creditors.

Rangers and their fans are not the victims in this. Your stupid post just illustrates why everyone hates you.

i was told at work last night by a guy who was a season ticket holder at ibrokes for 30 years , has bought a season ticket for cevco, and has lost a few quid as a share holder of oldco.that newco will be in admin by the end of the month. not saying he is a great source, but he has been right about a lot of things in the past 4 months , he thinks his club is gone forever , in any shape or form..shamrock

Whyte = the colour of their faces when they realised their club was screwed, and one half of the colour of glasgow. Green = envy, the feeling they have towards all other clubs who have their history and are ready for the new season and also the other colour of glasgow. Brown = the colour of their keks as they move from one disaster to the next and the colour of their wall behid the fan.

Turns out Sandy Jardine was the warm up act.Have you seen the
Brown interview on sly pure comedy gold.Every supporter who invests will
have their own club[how many new rangers are there going to be ?]
apparently there may be a stumbling box ? brown was standing outside
Ibrox the stadium he was proud to play for. The best of all hands up
all those who think at the start of the interview he almost said "every
F***er who invests instead of fan ?...col

You forgot to mention the part where he mentions winning nine in a row!
Would that be the tainted nine in a row??

Why is 9-in-a-row tainted?

Just watched the brown rally at ibrokes.Nice to see it starting off with a chorus of derrys walls, and donald findlays name getting the loudest cheer. So thats the demography taken care of.Why does brown keep rattling on about the title deeds? Go to the land register, scotland john im sure the info will be there. He also defended findlay, exposed sectarian abuser,by claiming he should have been supported instead of being shown the door! Long on rhetoric but short on pertinent facts for me.And by the way john, your club will be no more soon,if you dont know that i suggest you should not be anywhere near a financial transaction,so give it up with the heart tugging "oor team" stuff..........green jhedi

Totally agree GJ; This knuckle dragging bigot and his sectarian followers have no place anywhere near football and the 'sabre rattling' nonsense is just a very un-educated person rallying the other lost-cause brigade to belch out some bile before they are forgotten.
There was plenty opportunity for a proper fans-led consortium to intervene, but with all the scandal and allegations still pending; it was never a viable or sensible 'investment'. I think most decent, intelligent fans have grasped this as the meagre attendance last night has indicated. It's pretty sad really.

It was a comical speech green jhedi, was waiting for him to rip off his shirt and pound his chest. Let him control the club, would be even more fun to watch than it is just now.
