Hey Ed, been away on holiday for last couple of weeks, how are you?

Just wanted to make a quick note on Lisbon. I asked on the site a few weeks ago what was the best way to get to Estadio Nacional, and I got there, 15 minute taxi trip. But unfortunately they were conducting a police training session on the pitch, and tourists werent allowed in. I even got into trouble for sticking my foot through the railings to at least say I'd been inside the stadium. Still a good experience but gutted I never actually got in.

Danjam {Ed007's Note - That's a bummer Dan, I hope you still had a nice holiday though.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I did, cheers, Ed.

Doing what the classic football fan does on holiday: Scrapping about for a shred of news about Celtic :-P

ed do you think celtic play better with or without samaras i feel they do better when hes in the team {Ed007's Note - I think Samaras really improved over the course of last season. We know now he is never going to be a CF and he seems to cause teams problems when he plays out wide or deeper in the centre. I still think he needs to be more consistent but overall I think the team is stronger with him in it.}

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Dead right ED.I thought from the start today his attitude was spot on.More importantly he seems happier on the left and dont forget he can go it alone as well............green jhedi

Agree6 Disagree1

Well, Sammy eh? I know players, teams and circumstances can change but is Big Sam becoming one of the 'older heads' we need around CP? Maybe he'll go in the next couple of years, maybe he'll stay for the remainder of his career, or most of it. If he keeps up this energy and determination then i'd be happy to see him stay with the Hoops for the remainder of his days. TRP.

Agree2 Disagree1

Samaras played really well yesterday, he went by there full back with ease and tracked back occasionally. When we bought him we made the mistake of giving him the number 9 shirt. He's never a striker and should have had the number 11. Out on the wing last season he looked a real threat, and with Forrest on the other wing we look good going forward. We really need someone for them to cross balls into, someone like Johnny Russell would do for me. I don't want Lawell to bust the club but i do expect some players in this season. Waiting till after the Qualifiers makes financial sense, only if your worried we won't get through!

DazzaBhoy

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree about Samaras; as soon as you understand he is not a striker/natural goal scorer and accept his other strengths.
I was a slow convert to be honest.

I liked the look of Lustig at centre half today. Hope we stick with that team for Helsinki game on wednesday.

I remember NL saying when he signed that he's a right back but they fancy him as a centre half hopefully he will be another Mulgrew and makes Centre half his position.

Also anxiously awaiting news on possible injuries today as commons would be a big loss for us. I think Helsinki are going to be a stuffy, well organised outfit and it might take something special to break the deadlock and Commons showed today he is the man to score this type of goals for us.

And could someone tell me if Forrest is injured as he wasnt involved today which would be another concern. {Ed007's Note - Forrest was just rested today.}

That was a great game and we should have got a win, wanyama looked the best and hope we keep him which I'm sure if we get into cl but if we miss out he may be gone to a big epl team. I think we should give him a pay raise sooner rather then later so he may like to stay a bit longer but we should get a new record fee and sell on clause.
The one thing I did not like was how empty the park was, i am truley shocked at that given how it was to celebrate our biggest award. After seeming that even thought it is preseason I am worried of how empty it will be this season, I only hope that is was just a one off but if that continues then the supporters should hang their heads in shame I would be crossing the sea to get over and support the club. We have a great team and I think they have some big times ahead for us and we need a full house to lead the way, we still need a striker and cb but I can see us opening people's eyes in cl.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Its the Glasgow fair mate and half the cities on there hols, couldn't make it myself as Im just back the night.

Agree1 Disagree0

The problem with arranging these games is they always arrange them when it's the Glasgow Fair so a lot of people would have been away.It would have been better to arrange the Inter game on 25th May.

I've not enough money for yesterday friend, shall i hang my head in shame? TRP.

People need to stop with this crowd nonsense.This is the latest stick the media will use to beat the Sevco drum with.You know how it works"we told you ,need Sevco etc".We are,as a country and indeed a planet,going through a momentous time with regards to financial restraints.Even some people i know,with season tickets,will be picking their games next year due to a variety of reasons,mostly money.One of my friends who lives in Dumbarton is starting to find the cost of getting to and from the games a pinch,i'm sure there are lots more.As a support i dont think our loyalty can be questioned,but lay off the crowd numbers,some people are having a tough time just living at the moment.Petrol,snacks and maybe a pint pre match adds up nowadays..........green jhedi

Agree4 Disagree0

I did not know that there were events taking place in town as I am not from there. And gj your right about ppl going on about the crowd and all but I thought that given the historical aspect of the match and how it was to reconize their achevement. I know times are tuff but like our songs have survived through famine and depression I know we can get through this and show all that Celtic and their support don't bend. Like I said I hope that when the season comes around I'm sure the fans will come out in numbers sing our songs I just hope we don't get all caught up in the dead club doings cause we should focuss on Celtic and the new spl. No true support should hang their head in shame if they could not get to the park, I hope it was a one off, but like gj said they will be looking at the numbers in the stadiums to say we told you this and that. I want to shut them up by ppl making it to games to sell out and prove to them that they are and have been wrong, I am going to try and make it over for a couple of games to help shut them up.
We are Celtic through and through and we need to forget about them and whoever or whatever they say or come up with to try and tarnish our club. This year more then any other we need to show up and show them all they are wrong and that the dead club is of no importants. Again didn't mean to upset the true supporters that didn't make it to the game.

big fat sally believes rangers have paid for the crimes of oldco no not really lets face it if proven in the tax case against oldco dual contracts would mean rangers wrongly so rightly so be stripped of all trophies won in that also all the prize money etc should be handed back but sally is so shallow he only sees the back of his arse maybe he should go to the toilet more and rid the crap he speaks if this was celtic who were in the mess he and co would want celtic finished altogether just a sore loser like is crap team and the only players who want to join this puppet team are players near the end of playing football or no one want them other then local pub teams etc so wake up sally eat your cornflakes and remember cheats always get caught let this be a lesson

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Why is the SFL website for div3 The Rangers FC showing founded 1873 and all the old Rangers club history? The old club is being liquidated. Also tabloid this morning showing their new signings wearing the old badge and five stars breaking trading insolvency law, when are they gonna stop being SPIVS and get honest?

We'll make a lot of friends along the way I'm sure and while our former friends have the difficulties they are going to face Rangers and the fans will have an enjoyable few years walking through the divisions." -Charles Green. Nothing like modesty is there ?

Paddy Malarkey

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Plus its barking mad. Does he think Celtic will make less money playing in the SPL and in Europe than newco will "walking" through the lower leagues? If its a tough few years for the SPL then its a hell of a lot tougher for them.

Agree4 Disagree3

Aww, we no fwiends anymore?
TRP.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think they will miss the money from the derby aswell more than we will.Sure the extra cash would be nice for new players for us but they also need to split any SFL tv deal with 29 other clubs.They will be bankrupt within a year anyway due to their wages.

Hope all your books and accounts are in order bhoys. No ebts or extra cash payments ...and all players legally registered
in all games.We all know what happens if you don't. The same goes for all clubs. Learn from us. I hope no club has to put thru what RFC have and I believe we still have a mountain to climb.

Good luck to all in coming season.

Just listend to that complete idiot Traynor on BBC radio Scotland ! this man is the biggest hidden Gers fan out of the lot. He has for weeks now bombarded us with his doom & gloom nonsense if NEWCO are not allowed this or that in the next few months. He is a complete and utter bluenose who will stop at nothing to save "his real" team. I for one will no longer buy the Record or the Sunday Mail from now and hope that all true Scottish Footballs fans do the same . Boycot the Record everyone until they get rid of these "liars". I am also away to mail the BBC about the total biased slant certain of there radio presenters are at present using, this NEWCO are 3rd Divsion hence give them the same coverage of rest division.

My daughter checked that the TRFC(IA) top that she bought would be in use thruogh the season and was told that it would be and that "The only thing that will change is that there will be no SPL badges on the sleeves". Legal ?

Paddy Malarkey

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Could be legal as it is just RFC for the badge, and not the crest they've had on their shirts for years. A bit sneaky by Sevco and RFC though. Don't know if they will be allowed to have Tennents on the top.

This is a very complicated issue as Sevco are attempting to pass themselves off as RFC, something that under Scottish legislation should not be permitted.

Hi ed mate. IMO i think we need two decent CB'S, atleast one with experience of the CL, we can do without a CF till the last day of the transfer window, we get enough goals from our forward line and our midfeild to get past a club like HJK but i think we will suffer in the CB line against a better team in the next stage if we dont get anyone in with CL experience and big and stonge. Id play big vic CB till we get someone in. John mensah would help us alot out, i think we should move for him and ciani and sell ki, and use the funds for a big strong CF. Keep up the good work ed cheers HH.

note todays papers about mccoist saying gers have been poorly run
over last 10 months. the problems they find themselfs in have been
years of bad management yet they wont criticise david murray.
as for charlie greens statement that new gers are and always will
be the old gers . then do the correct thing charlie and pay the debt of the
old club. you cant have it both ways

NL wants Rangers striped of titles and says it would be a moral victory (slysports). Why does NL not concentrate on being a manager and keep his opinions to himself? We have yet to produce a decent "moral victory" for our fans and we havejust watched St Johnstone bite the dust. Are we ready? I am not convicend

In light of McCoist's statement tonight we can surely expect the newspapers tomorrow to be carrying front page stories of the disgraceful comments or does that only happen when Mr Lennon is involved. The man cant sneeze without it being challenged yet this coniving, deceitful, spiteful excuse for a man gets away with spouting whatever he likes. I wont hold my breath.
Stevo dundee {Ed007's Note - It's a good thing there is no more Rangers Stevo, their fans would turn on McCoist in a minute. They hated people speaking out against the idiots running the Scottish game. Remember their reaction when NL done it? McCoist is lucky, they would be calling for his head for constantly moaning, and banging on about how he should carry himself with some dignity and stop whinging about the SPL/SFA etc. In a way Scottish football has already moved on since Rangers demise, a manager now feels comfortable to speak out against the authorities without facing the wrath of the old Rangers supporters. Who would have thought change for the better could happen so quickly?}

Believable11 Unbelievable3

This just says it all about him

'No one is denying that Rangers were badly mismanaged for 10 months. Nor are we disputing that we should be punished for that. We have been. We accept that punishment and want to start putting the past behind us and move forward'

10 months...what an absolute clown lol. Aye Ally, all RFC's problems are down to the last 10 months. If any RFC fan buys that statement, they deserve all the heartache they've had ! Mrs E

Agree8 Disagree3

I agree with OP. McCoist should stay clear of these type of comments and concentrate on managing his team (assuming there are enough players). Same for NL regarding the "moral victory" comment. Concentrate on the job you have and leave the club statements relating to league and officials etc. to the club executives who have the authority to represent the club at the highest levels. (not that I disagree with him)

Agree4 Disagree1

Normally, I wouldn't give a balloon like Sally the time of day, but the statement he has come away with in the Daily ****** is hilarious! How this clown is getting away with spouting this bile is beyond me. He has, and always has had difficulty in accepting the truth about his rotten institution. Well here it is Sally, you have not been punished, apart from a tiny fine which you probably still haven't paid yet. You find your bunch in the 3rd division because a gutless organisation don't have the balls to send you to where you really belong, out of business! You are moaning about a transfer embargo when your institution has left a debt to it's creditors and me, the taxpayer to the tune of over £100 million. "Moral Integrity"? You couldn't even spell it mate! So, see the prize money you talk about, let's share it out amongst the people who you have also put out of business Don't give me that old Pony about being punished, you haven't got a clue about how you really should have been punished. I hope I don't bump into you because I'll tell you exactly where you should be. Now waddle off and enjoy your lower league adventure and leave us to fly the flag in Europe. (that's the big place over the water that you won't see for a while)
