Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

Patrick Roberts is free to Middlesbrough in January. Should we be looking at bringing him back or has he gone backwards . My only fear is that is Neil Lennon the right manager to man manage a player back to his best when he was with us last.

He’s still a young player who has a bright future.
Paddy showed he has the ability and I think he would be worth the risk.
The rumour was that John Kennedy didn’t want him in the summer due to his training efforts.

Cork Paul, I also read that earlier but as my old Mum used to say, you cannot turn the clock back. It's a no from me.

29 Dec 2020 00:36:24
cork paul if paddy had wanted to stay he would have yes a cracking player but would we take him back?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Dec 2020 08:44:33
If paddy produced what he produced first time then it's a no brainer. ripped it up here.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Dec 2020 09:25:03
I would take him. There aren't many alternatives that I can see. Biggest problem is he hasn't played since he left us. Under the Lenny regime he should be fit by 2023!

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Dec 2020 10:08:10
His name comes up every window and he would be an asset - as he proved in his previous time - but seems to have struggled ever since? If he wanted to play for Celtic, he could have stayed; so I reckon he still wants to try and cut-it down south where the money is.
As for not turning the clock back; I said the same about Neil Lennon and quite a few disagreed.

Agreed OAB, Roberts was superb in his first season on loan with us. The second season, from memory, he was mainly injured due to hamstring problems.

Since departing Paradise in 2018, he's played with;-

* Girona - 19 games / 0 goals
* Norwich - 3 games / 0 goals
* Middlesbrough - 12 games / 1 goal

NL, as I've said on here before, was a cheap replacement for BR.

Moving forward, I think we can and should do better than Roberts and NL, in IMHO.

30 Dec 2020 03:10:55
Not for me, He's done nothing since his first season with us. Was too injury prone 2nd time back and can even get a kick of the ball for a rubbish Middlesbrough team.

I'd try this against the Arabs before the Klan.

Hazard
Ajer Duffy Juilen Taylor
McGreggor Soro Turnbull
Johnston Edouard Griffiths

Right in about them and in their faces from kick-off to the last whistle.

I would play the same lineup as this Saturday
Hazard
Ajer, Jullian, Bitton, Laxalt
Christie, Soro, McGregor
Turnbull
Griffiths, Edouard.
That team will win both games.
But Celtic could be in trouble if we play Duffy, Brown and Frimpong on Saturday.

28 Dec 2020 17:06:21
Duffy? Are you mental? Better off with my cat in the team. Duffy is an unmitigated disaster. No way should he play again for us, and definitely not at Ibrox, he's utter rank.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 17:29:27
Totally agree Buzzbomb.
That's our strongest 11 at this moment in time.

Magicpole as I says in an earlier post ‘I know I know’ before I even said it. And I know where you’re coming from I can still see him playing them on side in the first game and the keystone cops defending against Ross County if I remember. But I just think he could give us a bit of dig against them who will be well up for it and he’s also a threat at set pieces. I could be 100% wrong and he could have another howler but my gut feeling is to try that formation against the Arabs with a view to playing him against the Klan. But I take your point. It’s all about opinions.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 20:14:39
A threat from set pieces is an interesting point JFP. Especially with quality delivery from, hopefully, Griffiths and Turnbull.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 20:25:32
Buzz I would go with your team but put Taylor at lb.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 21:25:23
I just don’t see how we are going to cope with Sevcos aerial threat at set pieces. Our CB’s and Hazard give me the fear when a decent ball is crossed in and hate to say it but their delivery on either side is generally on the money.
I do think they can be got at despite their defensive record with Griffiths and Edouard up top they will take the chances that Hibs and others failed to convert.

28 Dec 2020 22:33:21
GGGG
Our players can’t give away too many cheap free kicks.
I don’t think Madden will give them the 15 free kicks Beaton gave them in our own half in the October match.

29 Dec 2020 10:28:22
Id like us to play 4231 with brown and soro protecting the defence.
Hazard
Taylor julien duffy ajer
Brown. Soro
Turnbull mcgregor moi/ christie
Eddy

Could even drop eddy back play griff upfront with eddy behind picking up the ball move mcgregor instead of moi/ christie.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Dec 2020 13:36:50
A threat at set pieces but a liability in central defence, if the opposition exploit his defensive frailties, panic might grow throughout the team and there might not be many set pieces to exploit.
I would rather he got the defensive side of his game sorted out, than him being picked because he is a threat at set pieces.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 12:47:20
maybe we won't see ajer at all against the sevvies, if he is to be punted in the january window maybe the club don't want to risk him being injured.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Dec 2020 12:55:40
WB I think he’ll play we’ve more to lose on the second of January than a transfer fee and Ajer has been on form at right back.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 13:01:25
Why would he not play he's played every game up till now.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 13:49:43
I think Ajer and eddy will play and will be punted in the window.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 14:40:12
Not a chance if that was the case we should have done it in the summer. eddy showing signs of form no coincidence when he pairs with the griff. and ajer has been playing well recently.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 15:24:39
They both wanted away in the summer, that’s why they didn’t show a leg.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 15:27:30
Ajer has been back to his best the last few games and although Eddy hasn't been scoring his usual quota, he looked very sharp and a lot more comfortable with Griff alongside him recently.
It would make sense to keep that winning team together for Wednesday although he may want to give Jullien a run-out to give options for the Sevco game and although I would like Soro to continue; like the Cup Final I see Broony coming back on Saturday.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 16:15:02
When did ajer say he wanted away?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 17:23:27
JIC, where have you been, he is one of the 4 wantaways who started to feck about the day after we won the 9.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 17:33:24
I would go for Christie or Ntcham leaving in January. Ajer in the summer alongside Julien Edouard Duffy Laxalt. A new Defence will be needed.

29 Dec 2020 09:15:05
On the moon or watching a different player hh.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 08:39:42
Everybody debating whether we go with eddy and griff for sevco game. but equally who do we play in the back 4 . ajer julien Duffy Taylor. Or will he keep ajer at cb huge calls glad it's not me.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Dec 2020 10:24:31
My back 4 would be

Ajer julien bitton laxalt.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 10:26:52
It’s a tough call mally. Me personally I’d
Stick with the same team as Boxing Day
And the same formation with the diamond
But hopefully whatever team/ formation
Lenny selects we at least turn up!
as the last few have been murder to watch 🍀.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 10:29:23
My friends we must go with Frenchman Eddy and griff upfield and a back 4 of Ajer Julien Duffy Taylor. Bring laxalt on later on in game to add more hard graft and keep driving at the rangers.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 10:39:21
Keep Duffy away from the starting 11, and I think most of us will breathe a bit easier.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 10:47:39
Eddy and Griffiths up front for me. Taylor at left back. Before I say it (I know I know) but I’d play Duffy at centre half beside Julien and Ajer at right back.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 11:34:30
The last time we played them frimpong had a mare at rb tgats why maybe put ajer there and pair julien with bitton or Duffy. as av said huge call but 3 points against utd first.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Look at the team that started the last derby for us when everyone lost their mind, how many of them will start on Saturday?

celhun

28 Dec 2020 11:42:54
Ed that’s quite something as a statistic I can only see one. Ajer.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Ajer is a definite starter and it should be at RB but McGregor will start as well. Barkas and Duffy are maybes and Lennon's BIG decision is whether Brown stars but the rest can only hope for the bench at best unless Lennon falls back to 4-2-3-1 - which I don't see happening - and Moi would be the LW.
If Lennon sticks with the 4-4-2 diamond (I actually call that 4-3-1-2) and with everyone apart from Forrest available I expect it to be a very different Celtic team that rocks up at Ibrox in both personnel and attitude to the one above.}

28 Dec 2020 12:09:04
Ed I never noticed McGreggor but it’s still an amazing statistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

28 Dec 2020 12:34:02
Unfortunately I think he’s def going to bring in brown at the expense of soro. Personally I’d prefer to go with the three from the weekend with maybe eddy out left Christie or frimpong on the right and griff up top.
I know eddy isn’t going to track tavernier too much but we only really have Johnson for a left sided slot and he’s never played well against them. Eddy out there may worry tavernier as if he goes forward eddy could hurt them from that area if he picks up the ball and runs at them.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 13:04:18
Agree ed ajer definitely may be brown with soro eddy and the griff Callum turnbull julien a think he'll go with Taylor Christie and young hazard as well no crowd should help him. but let's win on wed with no Injuries 🤞🤞.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 13:06:12
I’m usually wary of playing new bhoys against them as many players don’t cope with the atmosphere. But there is none with no fans so I’d play Soro. Browns heart is still a big miss though.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 13:56:53
The only 2 definite starters from the October game are Ajer and Calmac.
I also think Laxalt will start on Saturday.
My back 4 would be Ajer, Jullian, Bitton and Laxalt.
Jullian and Bitton were our CB’s last September when we won 2-0 at Ibrox.
I’m looking forward to the game now and I can see Celtic being too strong.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 14:46:52
Taylor has to start over laxalt for me. Laxalt flatters to deceive and brings very little to our left hand side.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 15:04:26
I agree Kev, Taylor has to start and so does Soro and Turnbull.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 15:09:01
Lets not get ahead of ourselves we have United first but team to face that mob for me would be
Hazard
Ajer
Jullien
Bitton
Taylor

Christie
Brown
McGregor
Turnbull

Grif
Edouard.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2020 17:03:59
Rich leave the midfield as it is, we are starting to build momentum with the 4 that have started recently. A bit more energy, a bit more urgency, a bit more speed, a bit more of everything really so why would you want to change that?

Now I love Brown and all he has done for the club but I'm afraid the other mob have the measure of him now. It's a no brainer for me like.

Imo we are still putting to many men in the box at set plays hh.
