28 Dec 2012 23:39:09
When our new 60, 000 stadium was fully complete the average attendance that season (98-99) was 59, 224 and season ticket sales was over 53, 000. We never left the Premier League therefore ticket prices were in line with that...not 3rd div football.

The season ticket sales according to last seasons certified accounts was over 42, 500, I believe they are up this season on that.

In Season 2010/11 (to make it fair) matchday revenue was:-

Celtic - 43.4m
Rangers - 31.5m

Celtic fans alone raised £9m from the Fergus share issue, Rangers fans £5m.

When The Rangers Football Club finally arrive in the SPL we'll still be here.....waiting, BRING IT ON !

Mrs E

PS - who would like to wage a wee bet that when they do arrive, they have the highest wage bill on Scottish football ?

Believable12 Unbelievable12

Well said mrs E.
buying success with money beyond their income. Normally from impossible to pay back bank loans coupled with dodgy offshore tax evasion mechanisms.

Agree8 Disagree9

BoS bank loans Lloyds said were unbelievable and Lloyds would never have made. Was it mere incredulous incompetence? Or corruption?
Either way they killed that club.

Agree5 Disagree8

The £9million raised in 1995 would be equivalent to £14million today .

Alright Eds and Celts, bored on a Friday night, but was just interested in what pricing for away days is like for you lot, we have got QPR, bottom of the league QPR I might add on Sunday and for my ticket in the Upper Tear, 50 quid, plus 30 quid for the coach down there I wouldn't mind but my ticket to old trafford in a few weeks is only 43 Quid ! Chelsea away cost me over 100 quid for my ticket, to get down there and something to eat and drink, Spurs was almost as bad. Its becoming beyond a joke and the average lad on the street is being priced out of going down here, be interested to know what Its like up there.
JFT96
Smithy {Ed007's Note - Evening Smithy. I haven't been to an away game in a couple of years but teams put their ticket price up when CFC are visiting. The £85 prawn sandwiches at Chelsea sums up everything that is bad with English football.}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Ridiculous isn't it Ed. I love going though so you end up paying crazy money and because we sell out are allocation everywhere we go, and are a big team, we pay, along with United, City, etc top prices everywhere. For instance last year, my ticket at Arsenal cost 55, whereas Sunderland fans paid 20. How is that fair? The fact that top of the league United charge less for one of the biggest games in the world than QPR who are bottom of the League, because they are based in London is unbelievable
JFT96
Smithy {Ed007's Note - Fans of the big clubs have been getting ripped off for years, I would hate to count up the money I have spent following CFC over the years. Even the price of flights to Europe shoot up if we are playing away.}

Agree4 Disagree1

My away game attendance is not great either Smithy and the last away tickets I bought were £26 for the Kilmarnock game at the beginning of April.

That's helluva expensive to watch your team ~ Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree2

This season been to Dundee utd & Aberdeen £26/27

Dundee utd - no to bad restricted view far away left hand corner couldn't see a corner come in.grub ok stadium ok

Aberdeen - piss hole, worst stadium in Scotland dear hole for everything.

Add £27 to a fuel bill from Glasgow not shy of £80 for 90 min of spl dross.

Know a few boys from town that just save up a few quick and just go down south to a Newcastle or arsenal game costs alot more but when you count what you pay to see Celtic home & away for 5 games works out your in money.or of your like a f1 fan like me 10 away games to follow Celtic can get you tickets for a Grand Prix and a holiday lol

Working class man always gets hammered really wish we done what they do on German football (excuse Boxing Day lol)
Lenny

Agree0 Disagree3

The home game in the CL against Barca (arguably the best club side in the world in recent years ) was £28 . St Johnstone away was £26 . Motherwell was £25 . I don't know how much the Edinburgh clubs charge now but remember them being OTT and near enough the same price as the old club from the south side ........DH

Agree0 Disagree1

ED: tell me it was a typo? £85 quid for a sandwich.I hope you were being ironic but as a frequent visitor to London i wont discount it out of hand! I remember getting charged £8.50 for a Corona last year.............green jhedi {Ed007's Note - Here it is GJ the £85 has still got VAT to add to it...

http://goo.gl/hPEjl

Agree1 Disagree2

Yeah I know Ed, down here almost all teams have category games, and we are always category A, so get charged top prices every other week. Why can there not be a set price for away fans? Thanks everyone for your replies, whilst we are on prices of Scottish teams my ticket to Hearts away in August was 45 I think, which is even about double what you pay haha. Obviously happening to you as well, It's clubs taking advantage of the fantastic following both our clubs have.
JFT96
Smithy {Ed007's Note - It will just get worse as they try to squeeze every last penny out of fans. Scottish and English clubs worry too much about TV deals than keeping their paying fans (customers) happy.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Just read my first post back through, how bad was my spelling and grammar? Haha, tear instead of tier? Horrendous from me that. You should have just cut the post Ed!
JFT96
Smithy {Ed007's Note - Don't be daft Smithy, it still made sense :-)

Agree1 Disagree1

ED; ! thats it. Goin to the game tomorrow , dont think i'll be moaning about price! I dont know how they get away with this london crap.............green jhedi {Ed007's Note - I am not a fan of London, and us conspiracy theorists know the truth eh GJ? ;-)

I'm sitting here reading the paper (granted it's a day old ) but i cannae believe what i'm reading the Govan pieman has quoted " teams are starting to fear coming to Ibrox" ffs Sally 4th tier of Scottish fitbaw with 2nd biggest wage bill in Scotland, i should think Elgin , Peterheed and the rest of the plumbers and binmen playing in your league should maybe we could get a doin here. Secondly i see the Pantomime season is in full flow with the Sevconians going to fill Hampden for a meaningless game, in denial springs to mind, a bit like thousands of Elvis fans packing out the SECC to watch an Elvis tribute act, fantasizing that he's still alive......Stevie...(Elvis fan)

Believable8 Unbelievable5

My mate who's a big bluenose tells me that in every game, and i think he has missed only two away, that at vital points Alexander has saved a cert or the other team has missed a sitter. This positive spin has now become laughable.Lets hope it continues............green jhedi

FIFA release:

Rangers go under
14 June
Rangers' perilous financial position had been an open secret but there was still shock when, after 140 years of history and a world record 54 league titles, the club was consigned to liquidation in mid-June. The Glasgow giants were subsequently reformed as a new company and granted entry to the Third Division, Scotland's fourth tier, which they currently lead by nine points with a game in hand.

So THE CLUB was consigned to liquidation. Not the company. After 140 years and 54 titles.... Why mention this at all unless it has stopped?

The club was reformed (which means started all over again).

Granted entry to third div fourth tier. NOT relegated or thrown out SPL but new club reformed and granted entry.

Finally the header 'Rangers go under' NOT Rangers holding company but Rangers the football club.

Believable11 Unbelievable3

Look Jim Traynor has written in the DR about five times (its easy to source his previous articles in any public library) stating its a new club and the old club with the history is being liquidated.

The BBC and STV HAVE ALSO PUBLISHED THE SAME STUFF.

Agree8 Disagree0

Only the more sensible fans of The rangers know this to be the truth. Thanks to a compliant media the new company/original club nonsense has been allowed to morph into what seems to be fact.I think when BDO get to the end of the liquidation, which might be years yet, the truth will be undeniable.........green jhedi

Agree6 Disagree1

Reading the article in its entirety, as say, a neutral from France, Italy, Spain, etc.... One would instantly believe its a new club with a new history starting. The old history being lost with the liquidation of the old club. I'm sure that's how FIFA intended the reader to understand the situation.

Agree6 Disagree1

Newco Rangers does not and never has played in the SPL - Lord Nimmo Smith.

Ergo NO SPL titles. No European history. No football history at all. It's a very basic easy concept. Why duped and self deluded Rangers fans listen to the mendacious Charles Green is anyone's guess. Seems like a mass psychological experiment.

Agree8 Disagree0

My Father in Law was over at Christmas and I invited him to the game on Saturday (today). No he said Rangers are on the Telly, playing..... He stopped, because he could not remember who they were playing, and up to point didn't care. "Rangers dying has ruined my life, " he said. For the first time I felt sorry for them. If it makes them feel better that its the same club then what's the harm. Ardrie fans like to pretend that they are the same club.

Maybe I'm just going soft in my old age.

Agree0 Disagree0

If they are the same club & history, would they not have the stars on the shirt big and bold for all to see.

Just a comment about the other night at the dundee game, yes fans were out of hand and it should never have happened but it was a minority out of the fans that travelled 4 were arrested dont know actually figures but the is a very little percentage.

But let's talk about we're other parties failed, 1st the police and security either fans entered drunk in which the shouldn't have been let in to the stadium in the first place, or if they weren't drunk and accussed of being drunk it happened inside the stadium in which the security didn't do there checks right. 2nd inside the stadium surely the security should have noticed and disposed of the fans before it got of hand.

I am not saying the fans aren't at fault but things failed that night to allow this to happen, it has been blown out of proportion by the press, and PL has given an apology but I am disappointed in the fans that stood us up.

And also to all the fans questioning or support and also or behaviour, our on national team has benefited from us when they got the top deck in the San Siro I think it was instead of the bottom deck, we have been given awards left right and centre for our behaviour and supports clubs have been created all over Europe where we have been.

I personally don't condon what happened but the blame shouldn't all lay with the fans things could have stopped it beforehand

Cumby Bhoy

Believable2 Unbelievable4

CB 4 fans cause trouble and its a massive spread on the s*n!

The thing that gets me is the Dundee chairman said noticed drunk fans but still let them in ?! Also like you say police should have done more the thing that got me is 2 guys got kicked out of the Dundee utd earlier this year stone cold sober and all they done was bless them self and got hounded for it !

IMO the police saw it happening and didn't react to it quick enough if at all

How 4 fans can bring shame on Celtic as much as the press is making a meal out of it I can't understand....

Hope they get hammered as this isn't the Celtic way !

Lenny

Agree2 Disagree0

@ Cumby Bhoy; I think the Dundee press officer alluded to the fact that drunks were let in to stop trouble at the gates. That would be mistake number one.If someone is that drunk that should be enough to eject them, is that not why the police are in attendance? Mistake two was to schedule the game at night, Most people would be off all day and it seems buses were arriving in Dundee from lunchtime. This may have been better thought out, but as you say we have an excellent reputation so maybe the authorities thought we could be trusted. This is in no way a defence of what happened as it was a disgrace.............green jhedi

I see sand dancer is in the news saying rangers told him not to bless himself. That's quite a few players over the years have stated this. The club Denys it. I don't believe players just make this story up. No rangers fan does.
Actually, anyone who takes offence at a catholic or orthodox Christian blessing themselves is a religious bigot. There's no grey area here at all. All over the world players bless themselves on a daily basis, its an established long cultural practice in world football.

Any club instructing players not to bless themselves is out of order.
Novo, and the two Italians regularly blessed themselves before and after they left rangers (every game) but not at Rangers, why? Sounds like a human rights issue and one for a complaint to compliance officer.

Agree7 Disagree2

Religion has no place in football at all imo be it catholic, protestant or any others, all it does is stir up trouble.

i see it's pats on the back all round for sevconians regarding attendances '' again '' . i tried to post this over there but never made it on. at their 18 home games {10 in league} an average of 45, 000 = 810, 000. lets give them another 90, 00 for cup ties . 900, 000.... we have 22 home games at 45, 000 = 990, 000 , cup ties league + scottish , assuming we reach both finals , and why not 300, 000 . we have had 6 home including juve in cl ? 350, 000 . away league games we average 8k x 22 . they average 3k x 18 . over the season our tickets average about £25 theirs half of that .. can anybody , anybody please explain to me how they are the best supported team in scotland .. shammy

Believable9 Unbelievable3

@ Shammy; You know better than to present facts and figures to the seat counters!.........green jhedi

Agree7 Disagree2

Gj, i know mate but they keep going on and on and on and on . the fact is . celtic will be watched by double the amount they will this season paying double the price . so in effect thats times four . and that doesn't even take into account the away crowds in the champions league , which would be another 200, 000 ? . shammy

Still no replies from sevco . pathetic. come guys argue the numbers and tell me you're best .. shammy

Agree1 Disagree1

Your facts are based on assumptions and you play away games in bigger stadiums than we do... The biggest point i will make is that all the rangers fans are still turning up even though they are 4th tier (which celtic fans predicted wouldn't happen ) and celtic fans dissapear in there thousands after dropping a couple of points never mind 3 leagues. Rant over case closed.

I've read there was trouble from the fans at the dundee game . what i would like to know is if these fans where drunk/pissed How did the police let them i'n . How much is payed to the police for these service's . Dundee should ask for a refund , the police did not do there job properly , withhold the money and get an explanation they should be held accountable . geo a tim merry christmas and a happy new year .

Believable2 Unbelievable5

There was was always going to be trouble, it's a disgrace that the game should be played on a public holiday at that time though that is no excuse these fans should be banned if the reports are true. Dundee FC and the police were not prepared and they must have known of possible hassle as fans had been drinking in Dundee all afternoon

Agree3 Disagree2

Guys we should not even attempt to defend this . there is no excuse . it does not matter how drunk i get , i would never behave like this . if this is about being allowed to sing rebel songs , everyone should be allowed but not at a football match.. i had one of the best days ever in the players lounge in dublin with the green brigade . rebel songs all night long . but that's where they should stay . pubs and private parties where they cant cause offence to others .. shamy

My post. I'm a proud celtic fan so don't worry about that. I don't want our fans to be compared to newco fans. I'm proud of our support and have one of the best reps at games, so for anyone who brings our rep into disrepute, ban them. We don't need fans like that to tarnish us. The police should not have let drunk yobs in, granted, but they should have more damn respect for our club and carry themselves with class every time they represent our club. It's disgraceful and not something I will EVER condone.

Rangers football CLUB is dead. The rangers football CLUB is less than a year old and will win its first title if it wins sfl div 3.
Rangers football CLUB were spl runners up last year and qualified for UEFA champions league prelims. They did not take up that place.
Anybody disagree with that ?

Believable10 Unbelievable6

Well they were always the rangers football club, just never refered to it

Agree1 Disagree0

The place wasnt taken up due to the company being in administration and therefore no uefa licence

Agree4 Disagree2

Apart from the did not take up the place bit, they had no choice about as they are a new club with no account

How can we disagree with that mate?

Are Aidrie Utd the same club as Airdrieonians?

This was an exercise to see how many of the 'green army' are on here. 50% it seems. So much for us being obsessed.

Agree0 Disagree1

When will celtic fans realise that no matter how many times you say it we know in our hearts that we are the same club and have a great history and we dont care what any other team has to say about it and we will not change no matter how many times you try to convince us.
