See some german team have signed a young Scottish boy Oliver Burke for 13 million! I was going to say I'm shocked but nothing about transfer fees shock me anymore! The worlds gone absolutely bonkers!

Brilliant player who will definitely suit the bundesliga. Could of chose a better club but the money has probably swung it for him

Forrest could probably got double that had they waited til next summer and other English teams noticed him.

Agree0 Disagree2

29 Aug 2016 09:03:05
Think a lot of bigger clubs were looking at him but he choose Leipzig as he's more likely to play weekly. Think he may have looked at Gauld going to sporting Lisbon and hardly featuring. There's a name to fling into the hat as the marquee signing lol.

ok guy, we have a couple of days in the transfer market. No matter who we sign let's get behind our team HH.

Anyone watch 'The Holy Goalies " performance for Bournemouth against Crystal Palace yesterday . Boruc was outstanding and I only wish he could return to Celtic, if only to reignite his friendship with a certain team who we play on Sept 10 th HH.

I agree, I am not sure if Rodgers or Cetic mentioned a marquee signing, even if they did some of us hyped it up over the top.

Great keeper but pretty sure that Boruc has never played against The Rangers.

Question to all.

Where and when did BR or PL actually say/ use the words " marquee signing". I think it's all getting carried away now and its hype generated by us, the fans, not by the club. The only information i can find on past quotes is that they hope to bring in at least 1 more signing. That could be anyone.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

What about Marco van Ginkel can't get a game at chelsea good quality and age.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

28 Aug 2016 21:04:34
Lots of people getting excited about a marquee signing. Why?

Season tickets are sold out. We have qualified for CL group stages. It is clear we will win the league at a canter. We should be looking at winning at least one domestic cup as well.

If you are PL where is the business sense insspending £10M+ (Fees, wages, taxes etc) on a marquee signing to appease fans.

The only thing I can see happening is getting Roberts on a permanent deal if city will sell as he will fit our business model of buying potential and selling at profit.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2016 23:14:53
It's to progress keep improving from a position of strength that's why.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Aug 2016 00:56:28
Yeah i agree why get yersell's aww moist about some possible top quality player like the club has not seen in over a decade (larsson was the last in my opinion) when were playing well and in the champions league just keep hoarding the money and give it to the prawn sandwich munching panty wetter's in big bonuses.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2016 01:04:59
And one marquee signing does that?

Suppose it will get us closer to europes elite eh?

If we are dominating domestically and getting into the CL on a yearly basis that will keep the board happy, and year on year PL will let us all know we can spend 6/ 8 million on a player and most fans will be daft enough to believe it.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2016 06:41:19
No it won't your right but what it does is gradually take our team to the next level. We don't have Arabs or Chinese investors backing us so that we can go out and spend 200m every transfer window so we have got to do it one at a time so that we can continually qualify for the CL and maybe get into the last 16 and with continued investment we could even make the last 8 that's what we should be striving for as a club. improvement year on year. rant over.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2016 20:32:49
I'm going to put a name out there! Gabriel Boschilia!
He is a 20 year old attacking midfielder who plays for Monaco, very much a Brendan Rodgers type of Player, very like Philippe Coutinho who Rodgers brought to Liverpool, and like Coutinho before he signed for Liverpool his career has stalled a little, he has been on loan to a few teams last season now back at Monaco but not getting game time. Very talented boy just needs game time and the right coach who believes in him and gives him a roll in the team. Wouldn't cost millions but could be worth a fortune!

Ed, was just wondering if you were aware of any sell on included with Daryl Murphy.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - We were lucky to get shot of him never mind any sell-on fee!}

28 Aug 2016 19:49:57
We need to be looking away CRM the EPL, as we know it's the most overpriced and over rated league in the world, so even an average player is going to be too expensive to buy and will blow our wage structure - we have to look at other leagues, scanadanavia, Croatia, etc. If we purchase there we're more likely to get value for money and hopefully we can get use or relationships with EPL to get loan deals, not my first choice but it's sadly the way of the game, they do well and their off we just have to accept that.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

28 Aug 2016 21:05:11
Signing a player who fits into the team and the squad is the most important thing, where he comes from is of secondary importance . We have in the past shopped in the so called "cheaper" markets without getting much value for money . So far B R signings from the English market do not appear to be over priced, probably because Brendan knows them well and they are tailor-made to suit positions the fans and more important B R wanted quality.

Agree0 Disagree5

28 Aug 2016 19:22:53
I'd be looking to sign Talisca (Benfica) though! Quality player and available 6 million!

Marque Player get it out of our heads we aren't signing one.
We might spend 2/ 3 million on a player or 2. PL has the money set aside for his bonus, as someone said or net spend is about 1.5 million and not forgetting the players we have shifted off the wage bill.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

28 Aug 2016 19:32:48
Exactly BRFA! no idea why anyone's disagreeing bud! This marquee signing is made up bollocks! I said it a few weeks ago that everyone looking for a big name player will be really disappointed! This from people like skinnybhoy about a big name player coming in if CL is secured is a utter nonsense! It ain't going to happen! But we'll still all be on here on Wednesday nite counting down the transfer window wondering who's coming in! Well it ain't going to be this big name marquee signing! No chance!

Agree5 Disagree4

28 Aug 2016 19:56:01
BRFA, I agree, my comments on Nasri came from seeing on various sites that he was in the frame for the last week, And was a loan signing as he would not go anywhere near France and had no lovers in the EPL because of his attitude towards English systems. If we spend 5/ 6 mil on 2/ 3 players who the mgr thinks will bring us on then great, it is only on here that we have comments about marquee signings, wages are no problem these days so let's see.

again fans are listening to pl bull. we are not signing a marque signing. another pr stunt to buy time then make up a lie saying "deal couldn't get through in time". mind 3 seasons ago january window?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2016 00:31:28
DN 30 I would like to think that the club who I have supported for 50 years wouldn't lie to me . I imagine they could have had a number of good players in mind and tried to buy them and they simply chose another club or their club wouldn't accept our valuation .
That could happen any number of seasons, it could be we are not presenting an attractive enough package or not prepared to pay enough.
That isn't telling lies which I would find it hard to forgive.

Long time reader. First time poster.

Evening lads.

Seen Nacer Chadli is allowed out of Spurs, very powerful, skilful player, worth a shout? Loan with option to buy? He's being touted to WEST BROM. I mean come on!

Also. the fees going around today down south (£8million for Vydra from Watford to Derby and Daryl Murphy £3-4 million to Newcastle) shows how much value Sinclair, Dembele and Toure were.

Cheers all. be gentle.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

28 Aug 2016 15:41:32
I'd take Patterson from hearts. Solid defender that can play a bit, and like you say rg96, would be cheap as chips.

Could do a job for us on domestic level easily.

Think he's scored against us against a few times. think he's a bit of a luxury player and that's why he's used off the bench at times. I've said since seeing him about 3 years ago I'd like him at Celtic. Think he'd be out our price range though.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2016 21:34:24

Too slow, doesn't move enough on pitch, I think he would find it difficult to fit our very mobile attack . Would be happy to move him on.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Aug 2016 15:59:00
I'm not sure where people get this bags of ability crap, he does 1 thing, stands far up the park n tries 2 roll the defender turn, like a bus, and then shoot.
Patrick Roberts has bags of skill, never much been a fan of commons due to his attitude, lack of work rate n he has now caused problems under Lennon n Rd, shouldn't still be at Celtic, 1st 1 out the door he should have been in my opinion.

I said on here 2 seasons ago that if he could knuckle down and behave then he would go on to be a Celtic legend. step forward Leigh Griffiths, not only is he behaving and scoring goals aplenty, but class off the pitch is now shining bright. Very touching gesture for young Kieran McDade. Pure class, Celtic class. Well done Leigh, this club is now in your bones and we salute you as one of our own.

Good points from yesterday another 4 goals shared around the team and late goals too. Last few season we never looked sharp in the last 20 so great to see that the team look a bit fitter.

Main point is McInnes at Aberdeen. Can anyone tell me if he has ever complimented us on beating them? The guy is full on excuses. 2 decisions went against us, yes when you were already 2-1 down. The squad were suffering from a sickness bug, yes but didn't you play Motherwell in exactly the same circumstances last season and blow it? Plus that was near enough your strongest team. The guy is an absolute balloon.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

We still managed to win many games late under Rd, Kilmarnock with the rogic goal n big Virgil's winner in the 2 1 game up at the sheeps den when we were down to 10 men to name a few. People seem to forget history.
It also helps that we are now signing a better calibre of player, and lawell isn't saying who comes in and who goes.
As for McInnes I don't even listen or read his comments, he's just bitter and a sad little sevco supporter/ sympathiser however our nearest rivals were firmly put in their place yesterday so I'm sure he was heartbroken the little slug.
Hail hail.

I don't see anything that would remotely suggest he would walk straight on the team? He's an average player in my eyes.

Always good to put a few goals past that lot. Totally dominated apart from a couple of moments at the back when again there was misplaced passes that put us in needless danger. This game should have been done and dusted by half time. i thought overall we passed the ball well and kept possession well. Another amazing strike by Griffiths and a lovely gesture too i hope his family find comfort in what will be a very difficult time for them. One thing i notifed in the 2nd half was sinclair was being sucked into the middle so we weren't using the width down the left. Fantastic to see Paddy back and he was lively and made some great runs amd unlucky not to score. Agree with Man of the Match thought Rogic was the one who took control of the game, Brown was far to deep yesterday but its been a gruelling couple of weeks. Have to say the Green Brigade were brilliant. Finished the day back at Bellahouston, Biffy not my cup of tea but they are certainly good at what they do! Nice wee walk in Glasgow Green then back to the Burgh. All in all anothet great weekend, been coming here for 30+ years and never tire of this great city and great people. HH.

Good result Stan after hard week. Would love to see us burst the bank to sign Paddy. The laddie is a phenomenal talent. Thought Grifiths looked a bit lonely and stranded up top. Sinclair looks a real talent but drifted out the game. Early days but Dembelle ain't shown me jack rubbish as of yet. Looks cumbersome at times. Toure is definitely an organiser at the back but don't see any of our centre halfs commanding their area and getting their head to every ball ie. Paul Elliot or even Bobo, Stubbs, McCarthy etc.

First half Forrest played well but 2nd half he went missing, agree with Stan regards Roberts, once fit has to be a starter as I feel he just gives us more than Forrest.
Have to say I felt when McGregor came on he kept things tidy n actually got his foot on the ball, it allowed rogic 2 go n play n 4 me we looked more secure.
Agree with u 2 old bhoy Forrest did well with his goal and assist but we need that 4 the full game, the wee man just needs to find consistency as he definitely has pace, he can best a man, cross n score when he is on his game, maybe a confidence thing which I'm sure the sports science, introduced by Rd n with br n his staff there is hope they can help improve forrests game n psyche as well as I do think he is a confidence player.
Loved the game yesterday, always enjoy playing the sheep n beating them, we were comfortable for most of the game n there r a lot of goals in our team, still think another striker needs added and there is still 1 midfield place up 4 grabs, specially with johansen leaving. Be interesting to see who comes in.
Here we go 6 in a row.

In the first half when we were all go and on the front foot Forrest was very good but should have scored a second . In the second half we were struggling to get procession and Forrest was off the boil . When P Roberts came on his speed and work rate against the Aberdeen defence which was itself tiring shifted us on to front foot
We are very lucky to actually have both these players.

To true Roberts will leave end of season (hope not) Forrest playing well, will be with Celtic for as long as wanted, so will get game time. at the moment deserves a place.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed a significant improvement in Forrest. I know he has been hampered by injuries and his attitude has been bad as well, but this season he has been quite good.

He has scored more this season already than the whole of last season. Just saying.

He's playing very well but come September 10th I hope he is on the bench with Paddy Roberts back in the team.

Forest is doing what he should be and little more imo, he's playing well but drifting in and out of games.
He also really needs to work on his tracking back.

Overall big improvement but needs more.

Players are human. Some are primadonnas, some are arogrant, some are genuine, some are fake etc etc etc. It seems (hopefully) that all forrest needed was the arm of br around him and his ego massaged, he looks a lot happier and playing like he is also.

He's still a bit of a fair weather player at times which gets on my nerves. When we're passing the ball about and playing well he's always looking for it but when we're having a sticky patch quite often he goes quiet.

Forrest has his strengths but fighting to win back the ball from the opposition isn't necessary one of them, he does however track back to cover when the opposition has the ball. We have to wait to Nov or Dec to see how he copes in bad weather for B R .
For one of our own some people are very reluctant to accept him as a good player .

cheeky wee bid for tiote from us?

Tiote is a clown and will only commit numerous fouls and collect a pack of red/ yellow cards, while contributing very little.

If James MaCarthy requires an operation then we should turn elsewhere for a strong forceful midfielder who can pass. We can return for James in January.
On Yesterdays match Biton did little new or creative he slow down play and is a poor defender. When running back he makes bad tackles giving fouls away ( fatal against good teams example Grittiths great goal)
Also he will get yellow cards and could then see us down to ten men not worth the risk.
Macgregor did well when he came on and is a fine player at home but lacks bite in away games He failed in the no10 role in Isreal.

I've been a long time critic of Bitton for all the same reasons but until we get one (or two) better quality midfielders than him, Armstrong and McGregor - we are limited with best of a bad lot.
I have also said on here that Brown is more influential and potent without Bitton to 'cramp his style'.

Keep hearing how the board has backed BR but if you look at what's went out and what's came in money wise it's nothing. We signed Sinclair for around £3m, got £1m for the add on from Wanyama sale and just received £2m for Johansen. I assume when BR took on the job he would have been promised a good sizable transfer kitty and I'm expecting that will hopefully be spent in the next few days.

Hoping for a good few million being spent before the window closes too mate. Has to be on the right player/ s though with the money we have wasted in the past on rubbish we can't seem to shift even now, all confidence in Rodgers signing what's needed though 🍀.

Callum Paterson and Robert snodgrass? IMO opinion that's the 2 names that would make our starting 11 elite.

Paterson? He's been okay at hearts, hardly going to command a starting place at Celtic.

Don't think I would go as far as Elite Snodgrass is decent Paterson is spl level but I would accept them as they would be good addition's to the squad.

28 Aug 2016 02:23:07
Callum Paterson and a elite don't belong in the same sentence! Average SPL player at best! Really don't know how this Paterson fan club started to be honest! Just don't see the fuss! Snodgrass is a player I'd love at our club, but don't think he'll be leaving the EPL any time soon! Maybe one day.

Didn't snodgrass pick up another injury today and go off. Not a big fan of lads that pick up injuries as regular as there pay checks. We are not arsenal and can't afford players on decent wage on physio bed.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he crashed into the post on a sopping wet pitch sliding in trying to score. I would think he probably has really bad bruising or maybe broken ribs, not really a regular injury as such, just bad luck. But it is not something that will make him weaker, in the long term, like a ligament injury, for instance.}

28 Aug 2016 02:54:11
I bow to your superior knowledge but every time I have seen Patterson he has played well, and I think he is a cracking wee player.

28 Aug 2016 12:29:37
Neither would be a regular starter, both are bang average and we have better at the club already so thanks but no thanks.
Anyone who comes in must be better than the player in that position already, those 2 in my opinion are not Celtic class.
