What the hell were Celtic thinking about staging this silly under 17 cup final tonight . I've said before it surely can't be for the money . Or can it . Reports coming from Parkhead are claiming flares and smoke bombs being let off in the main stand . Main Stand! . Police escorting rival fans along London Rd . I thought I'd seen the last of this crap . He'll mend you Mr Lawell if it really does go pear shaped tonight . DH

Believable0 Unbelievable0

DH, a silly under 17 game?

It's the highlight of the social media and high school calendar.

Can't believe your having a rant about flares, that's blasphemous these days. Grown men and woman are boycotting the game because they aren't allowed to play with these toys. You either play with fireworks or wet your pants and have soup, you do not under any circumstances just watch the game. We need to understand these rules lolz

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it was the right decision to play this match at celtic park as this is the only opportunity for the police and authorities to plan crowd control as when we meet at first team level we will be talking about 50/60 thousand people and this match infront of 8000 might help to plan for that day?

Agree0 Disagree0

@Jim1972 "help police prepare for 50-60000"
Sorry but last night's crowd I believe was housed in only one stand, so it should have been easy for police and stewards to search people at turnstyles even employ sniffer dogs, the police failed miserably.
I do not care who had the smoke bombs/flares they should have been stopped from entering stadium with them and if it was me, I would also have refused whoever carried them entry also.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dnt know what the fuss is to be honest, 3 arrests out of 8000 people. Its only because it celtic and sevco it bein reported, any other event 3 out of 8000 is a success.

Agree0 Disagree0

@tim my point was that these matches have always been high risk but no one truly knows what might happen when we meet at first team level and having seen pictures of rangers fans being escorted to the match that doesn't augur well. Let's not forget no matter what we the celtic fans think about them they are convinced that they got a raw deal and I don't expect it to be like matches from 2 years ago I will liken it to when Hugh Dallas helped rangers win the league, that night was a poisonous atmosphere or it could be worse? As for smoke bombs etc I assume that searching 5-8 thousand people would be too time consuming and possibly cause more hassle at the gates

Guys now I wasn't a fan of him before we signed him and I wasn't happy we did sign him. But behaviour aside as there been plenty on it already, I have been impressed with Griffiths ability. More so we now have a partnership again with him and Stokes. Now I not sayin they will take the CL by storm because I don't think they will but then again I think it would take 12-15m to buy that.The other positive for me and DN30 will luv this we have seen the emergence and improvement of Stokes.Your thoughts guys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree stokes has came onto form but ma problem with him is he's so inconsistent in performances. He can score a hat trick like yesterday then can be a ghost the next 3/4 games. He's a great spl player but I genuinely don't think he's cl level

Agree0 Disagree0

Rayman, the underlying problem I have with stokes is he is inconsistent and his european goal tally is shocking.

Agree0 Disagree0

These are no pressure games in a one horse league and if we cast our minds back to the shocking CL campaign and the lack of cups this season it is very clear that we need vast improvement.
Griffiths is untested in Europe but Stokes has been very mediocre in CL.
I am not saying he has to go but we do need a couple of quality creative players to compete in big games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stokes needs to stay away from days out in Belfast n knuckle down in training to improve his fitness n consistency.

Agree0 Disagree0

@jungle remember we used to get the same stuff about a striker we had in recent past, can only do it in SPL, won't make it down south etc etc, think his name was Henrik something wonder how he got on lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Did anyone except Rangers fans actually say that? I can't remember anyone of any note saying it. It's a hideous comparison for you to make right enough.}

Tongue was firmly placed in cheek ed, was merely pointin out people tend to criticise before they are prepared to give players a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Of course you were.}

@rayman but larsson had already proved he could score in europe with feyenoord both domestically and in european competitions

Agree0 Disagree0

Its early days but it looks like Griffiths and Stokes are building up a good partnership. They could well be the answer in Europe .

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts on the green brigade banner which was allegedly aimed at Leigh Griffiths. A bit of hypocrisy if you ask me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - What makes you think it was aimed solely at Griffiths? You must think it was relevant (and agree with the sentiment) to his situation to arrive at that conclusion. To me it was no more than great quote from Willie Maley used by the GB to highlight the overall drop in standards at the club.}

Without my specs I struggle to make out their banners or indeed any fans banner that sit across from Jock Stein stand.

I await the day a fan waves the Jock Stein quote:
' Surely there are enough Celtic songs without introducing religion or politics or anything else'

or a Willie Maley quote of:
'Celtic Park where a man is judged by his football alone'.

Meltdown lol

Agree0 Disagree0

What about a banner saying" we know who broke the seats at celtic park and sorry we didn't tell on the wee boys at Motherwell " or " sorry for bringing a political banner or f. Uefa to European matches " then I will bring a banner saying sorry to rangers fans/players/referees for some bad chants. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

In all workplaces, our behaviours (timekeeping, attendance, attitude, personal probs, etc) are taken into consideration. Well at least any job I've ever been in has. Per se, my quarterly bonus is made up of 20% performance + 80% behaviours. Football is one of the highest paid occupations in the world, they're in the public spotlight all the time and are supposed to set an example / be role models to young kids who watch them week in, week out. They're also an ambassador for the club they play for - whether that's on the pitch, in training or out for the night in town.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim are you seriously suggesting bringing a banner judging the fans. Oh ah, now that I would pay to see.

HB, I’ve always been in agreement with what you are saying – totally. Just wondering who was singing ‘Leigh Griffiths he sings what he wants’ on a fully televised game for all of Scotland to hear when we were away to Dundee Utd. Now this 'sings what he wants'?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know if you'll see my banner from the jock stein stand though as I was going to put my apology on the back of a postage stamp. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't speak for those at Tannadice, I wasn't there as it was the week after I came back from Hamburg and needed to work that weekend, but I heard the vast majority sang that backing him for the Hearts going bust song. Tbh, I think that's farcical that he has been punished by the club for singing a tongue-and-cheek song but they've remained silent over a derogatory song he sung the same weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest HB, I think Celtic can't say much whilst there's a Police investigation going on with Griffiths.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed if you notice I said “allegedly aimed at Griffiths” but anyone who doesn't think this was aimed at him is either extremely naive or just plain deluded. The green Brigade should concentrate on their own actions that tarnish the clubs name instead of slating a boy that’s made a couple of mistakes. Don’t get me wrong if he hasn't learned his lesson and steps out of line again then he has to go! I’m just hoping that he knuckles down and realises what he’s got before it’s too late.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So you personally feel that the banner was relevant to the Griffiths' situation OR did you just read what other people said about it and you need something to whinge about? I myself think the sentiment could be directed at a number of people currently connected to the club.
As far as I know the GB have not publicly said who the banner was directed at and NL himself isn't sure it was at Griffiths, it's good to see you're keeping an open mind though. You say others are naive and deluded - yet you're the one admitting to jumping to conclusions.}

Well ed if it wasn't aimed at Griffiths then it was extremely bad timing due to the circumstances. So what you're telling me is that you don't think it was about Griffiths? What other players do you think it was about? I also don't see what part of my comment where I was 'whinging' and if that's the case then all you seem to do is 'whinge' about Griffiths.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Try to look at the available facts, people are only assuming it was aimed at Griffiths but why did it need to be aimed at anyone in particular? It could have been aimed at the sections of the custome... I mean fans, board members like Peter Lawell, our very own Tory lord Baron Livingston of Parkhead, James Forrest running about pubs with his banger out, NL chatting up young women on social media (then turn out to be a guy!) etc etc.
Or it could just as easily be seen as a generalisation, just like 'Celtic jerseys are not for second best...' Which player do you think that would have been directed at if there was a banner saying that?
You obviously see a problem with Griffiths' behaviour to jump to the conclusion it was about him, but as the old saying goes, If the cap fits...}

Personally I think the banner was solely aimed at the Leigh griffiths incident otherwise why have the banner also saying "celtic welcome refugees from a club founded by immigrants" or something along those lines. If the banner is meant to mean something else then why not get their message out to clarify we mean everyone? Not just Leigh

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Wasn't the 'refugee/immigrants' banner separate and been used before.}

Don't know about any previous but on Sunday it was at the centre of the top line of the banner that was displayed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's still a separate banner altogether that nobody has had any issue with, until now.}

The created by immigrants / refugees welcome two-stick is always in the GB section.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whose got an issue with it I only when you put the 2 banners side by side you can easily assume it relates to the Leigh situation

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It seems there's a hell of a lot of assumption going around the support these days, I suppose it takes the spotlight off the important issues at the club.}

As we all look to see who Celtic will sign for next season most of us are wanting players of EPL if not Champions league standard I would go long with that but two Scottish players I would like Celtic to sign are Robertson (Dundee United) and May (St Johnstone) both I am certain would strengthen our squad.
I believe our scout Mr Park recommended one or both to Lennon previously and we could have signed both for under £1m, now I believe with their higher profiles it will take about £2m+ each.
We could maybe try another way and offer our promising young players like Atajic, Fisher or Henderson on season long loan deals as a sweetener. This would also give these players regular SPFL experience.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I want Armstrong before the pair of them tbh mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Tbf, I agree with Timalloy. Robertson would challenge (if not dislodge) Izzy from LB and May again would do the same for both Stokes + Griffiths. I'd like to see Atajic given a run of games as well, with service I reckon he could bang them in for us!

Agree0 Disagree0

Atajic can't even get a game at Shrewsbury and you want him in Celtic's 1st team? May, Robertson and Armstrong I would not be unhappy with but if they are not better than what we have (Robertson-Izzy, Armstrong-Biton, May-Griffiths) then I don't see the point as I reckon these guys would cost the best part of £6m. In my opinion we need to be going quality over quantity as we have enough numbers and need to cut them not add to them. Only sign players who are going to go straight into the team even if that means only 1/2 signings

Agree0 Disagree0

And d'you know why that is Marty? Because Shrewsbury's backroom staff criticized him as he arrived in a very unfit state, as did George at Accies!

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely he'd be fit by now and in the team if he was Celtic class. Even an unfit Celtic class player should get straight into the Shrewsbury 1st team

ED007 do you get the impression that Lennon has changed his mind regarding Norwich now that they look like being relegated?
The only other job I can see for him in England is Leeds and they too are in lower league.
I want my Celtic manager to be concentrating on bringing in new players and planning for Champions League rather than touting for jobs in EPL. If his mind is elsewhere then surely he should be honest with us the fans or even Lawwell could thank him for his 4 years service then show him the door.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I still think if the right job becomes available he will be off. Do you think NL should be working for the BBC during the World Cup or concentrating on the CL qualifiers?}

28 Apr 2014 13:43:47
I did not know he was working for BBC, no he should be doing what Celtic pay him for and prepare team properly for CL and bring in better players.
We the supporters deserve honesty from Lennon and the board about who will be in place come July.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aston villa maybe if lambert gets the boot in the summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon Norwich in the Championship will be his level. Can't see any English clubs to be screaming for him to manage them?

Agree0 Disagree0

A return to Leicester City. Possibly by Xmas if they struggle on their return to the Premier League.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, that's shocking that Lenny will be working for BBC or anyone else this summer. We probably don't know the extent to which he'll be involved but if it's anything other than his own time then I'd be disappointed. Perhaps he wants to use Rio as a shop window to show off his footballing knowledge to any potential employer?

Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think there is anything officially agreed yet but Lennon has certainly been approached to work as a pundit for the BBC at this summer's tournament.}

28 Apr 2014 12:02:02
Thanks for the Rangers/Sevco page Ed. If you could continue to redirect the 'junk' about them into that folder you'd be even more of a hero. Perhaps the option for people to "Post Rangers/Sevco junk" down the side too (?) just to make it even clearer that this is a Celtic page. I don't mind joining the occassional persecution of them but it was too much on here.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Every post about them will be put on there Jim, posts all come to oue editing suite no matter where they are posted from and we decide what page they go onto. I suspect there will be a rise in the number of posts about Sevco soon enough and it will be best to keep them seperate from CFC stuff.}

28 Apr 2014 13:14:13
ED007 if you are going to have a dedicated page for them surely you must get the correct title for that particular page.
THE CHEATING B@~~~~~S PAGE
