Really feel like we will regret letting Sviatchenko go, there's a really good defender in him imo. Gutted.

Not enough pace. Reads the game well but there are better defenders out there.

I don't think we can say on the one hand that we want the team to be strengthened, then on the other hand complain when some of the fringe players start being sold.
I don't think that Sviatchenko is a bad player, but he's no better than the players already here
To strengthen the team we need to bring in players who are better than we already have. They should be able to walk into the first team and make a difference. Keeping players who are taking a wage but will rarely play in the first team jus doesn't make a lot of sense in my opinion.

Erik is a very likeable character was always positive about the club. He was fantastic under Deila but sadly when given the opportunity by BR he looked slow and more often than not was getting caught out. Nothing but respect and admiration for him with his statement today. Others have left with a chip on their shoulder, taken the huff and slated Scottish football. Eriks statement says a lot about him and that's why he was and always will be a likeble character to the fans. Good luck to him hope this seasons title win is the 1st of many at his new club.

Bang on there Gerry. He wouldn't get in the side. Best yo get some money back and get him of the wage bill. Our squad will need trimming to bring in the quality we all want. Similarly a mate was on about Henderson moving to Serie A and have we let a player through the net. He never put a foot wring really but at the same time didn't make the position his own. We've got to be ruthless. I wish Erik and Liam both the best of luck but we're looking to be better than Midtjylland and Parma.

The man that matters B R didn't fancy Eric and unfortunately that is that.

28 May 2018 23:02:29
Totally agree. Prior to Ajer's emergence, I thought Sviatchenko was the best centre back at the club. If, as rumoured, Boyata gets a new deal, it will make this decision all the more unbelievable.

Spot on JimTim.

I posted before about Bitton, because I think he’s a good player and clearly loves the club. I’d be disappointed if he left because he wasn’t getting into the team but I also don’t think he’s as good as Ntcham brown or Armstrong. He’s one of those I wanted us to keep for when Ntcham inevitably moves on. However you just have to hope we have players of similar quality lined up instead of relying on players who can’t quite make the grade.

@Rich, i think qualifiers start 17/ 18 june but could be wrong.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The draw for the first and second qualifying rounds takes place on 19 June. Our first game will be 10–11 July with the second leg being played on 17–18 July 2018. The first leg of the second qualifying round will be played 24–25 July with the replay the following week on 31 July – 1 August.
The draw for the third qualifying round takes place on 23 July with the games being played 7–8 August & 14 August 2018 - I've no idea why there's only one date for the second leg.
The play-off round draw is on 6 August and the games played 21–22 August 28–29 August.}

When does the qualifying rounds for the CL start and are we seeded for any of the rounds?

You can tell is is pre season when.
My ex bear pals want to meet for our Sunday pint.
looking forward to hearing all their pie in the sky transfer targets and their £10000000000000 budget lol.

27 May 2018 12:37:21
I wonder what there actual budget is 😂, surely we should have 10x whatever they have. I’m hoping to see more developed players in our squad next season. We’ve built a foundation of young players with massive potential such as Ajer, Dembele, Ntcham, Tierney etc. Now to strengthen the spine of the team and find that last piece of link up play going forward. I don’t think that the striker position is of problem (if wee keep Dembele and sign Édouard) . I think the wings need a good upgrade as Forrest and Sinclair are not good enough for European football. Both had good seasons in a sense. Even though Sinclair was off the boil and Forrest couldn’t keep up his form all season, pushing them back into squad players is where I see them moving. We need players to be playing at there best all year round, you don’t find that in our current wingers. Defence is also a problem, a new CB, RB and keeper plus two wingers would see me over the moon. Also we have Callum McGregor who is a fine example of a utility player.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 May 2018 12:55:07
I agree with a lot of that Ken. If we signed Edouard (and kept Dembele) , and quality for the RAM, CB and GK slots I would be over the moon.

KenlikeEh
I think we should go ahead and buy a new team from goalkeeper out to leading attacker . The few players we have such as Tierney and Brown and Forrest and maybe Ntcham and McGregor could serve as back up players .
Really this seems to be how some reckon our transfer market should be about.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 May 2018 18:50:53
we have to strengthen going forward Chris. Everyone has there own opinion and that’s fair enough. Our defence needs revised and our attack needs something fresh. The middle of the park seems tight at this stage and is the most competitive place in the team, that is for good reason as Ntcham and Brown are solid together. anyone could be replaced by a player within our price range, it’s just findinng that player and there availability.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2018 22:05:59
their only budget is season ticket money ken they have no other income they are up to their neck in loans.

27 May 2018 22:09:57
their as skint as me tim, jamie's got more dough than them just in his bookies account lol.

Agree4 Disagree0

28 May 2018 22:37:32
So KenLikeEh You are actually agreeing with me . The facts are too many changes and too many players brought in reduce dressing room harmony . The strong team unity that B R and his players have created in Celtic may come under pressure and we may well struggle to match this season's success with so many new players .
Brendan will want to improve this season domestically and in Europe and he certainly won't achieve that with a crowd of newcomers.

What are your opinions on Ramos' tackle on Salah last night?

I thought their arms got tangled but then Ramos trapped his arm so he couldn't pull it away. He then gave him a small tug so they both went down and while falling, he twisted his body to make sure Salah's arm was under him when they landed.

It was very dangerous and could have easily snapped Salah's arm, was worthy of a red card in my opinion as it used excessive force.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2018 09:36:25
Totally agree, he knew what he was doing and ‘done him’
I know he is a hot head but a simply fabulous defender.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 May 2018 10:20:59
Don’t think he was trying to injure him. Its a physical game and when they both went down someone was likely to get a sore one. Looks bad in slow mo but in real time it happened in a split second so I doubt Ramos had time to think “I’m going to do him here”

Thought Ramos was the best player on the park by a mile. So much so he’s concvinced me to put some cash on Spain this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2018 11:12:20
Never a red card just very good defending, something our own defenders should learn.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2018 11:26:45
There's a picture that appears to show Salah grabbing a hold of Ramos' arm first and then the injury was to the opposite shoulder from the way he landed. He definitely wanted to leave one on him though, no question.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2018 11:57:08
I am not a fan of Ramos, he's a big dirty b*****d that gets away with murder but that wasn't even a foul last night. He won the ball and then they got tangled. Salah was pulling as much as Ramos. The way they fell was just bad luck for salah.

27 May 2018 12:35:21
He knew what he was doing! It was deliberate.

Never liked Ramos although no question about it he is a winner. However I can’t take to him, a big dirty so and so.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2018 17:08:46
He’s a wonderful defender of that there’s no doubt but he knows every underhand trick in the book. The second I watched it I thought it was deliberate and iv watched it a few times since and am still of the opinion it was ment.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2018 18:04:37
Ramos certainly committed a red card offence against Salah last night . Can you imagine the outcry that would have arisen if S Brown had tangled in such a way .
Ramos has history of committing red inducing fouls . The ref was too cowardly to card a Real Madrid player so early in the game .

I was delighted with the result even though I used to have a soft spot for L'pool, my two sons in law redicule Scottish football and call it a pub league, so they will have plenty to look forward to next time we meet up.

Agree0 Disagree3

27 May 2018 22:03:21
Fabulous defending you must be kidding right? He is committed I will give you that but he is and always will be a thug imo. He is an assassin and he took out Mo Salah and with it Liverpool's chance of winning.

Its not that he pulled Mo Salah's arm its that he deliberately held onto it and trapped his wrist and then as the above describes landed on top of it and then pulled his arm. It was one of the worst I have seen and I was surprised Salah got up and carried on after it for a few minutes.

It was simply disgusting, it reminded me of the tackle on Larsson which to this day I still believe was deliberate by the french assassin. goes unpunished as experienced defenders just make it look accidental.

big hartson at his peak would have knocked ramos about for 90 minutes.

Agree4 Disagree0

28 May 2018 22:43:49
No chance, everytime big bad John would have neared him, Ramos would have rolled around in agony and roaring in agony . Hartson would have to stay away or he would have been off before half time.
