? Is jordan larrson any good.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

28 Jul 2016 09:32:59
Dave Jordan Larsson is always going to live in the shadow of he's father! But yes he is a descent footballer, this is his second full season playing for Helsingborg and he has become a first team regular scoring some spectacular goals. Take into account he is still only 18, I think he has a bright future in the game however he will probably never reach the heights of his father, but let's be honest he was world class! I think Jordan will get a decent move in a few years, and if he keeps progressing could be a good good player!

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 22:43:46
I feel we are missing a top quality midfielder than can boss a game a can pick a pass. I have no idea who I think would be a good fit. Any suggestions?
Also a top class older striker used sparsely and too help our strikers out, got it with Kolo for the defenders.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2016 23:12:54
We could really do with a ball winner. A natural DM. Somebody who can properly sit and protect our backline, let's face it, they need it. Picking up loose balls, chasing the midfield for 90 mins. I base this position on quantatative analysis. On this basis, this time last year, I was suggesting Kante. This year, it would realistically be Gueye at Villa. So for me we're in for the wrong player.

Agree1 Disagree3

27 Jul 2016 23:24:26
We need a new CDM like wanyama! On another MF bentaleb is available from Spurs! Not too sure how good he is though?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 23:42:11
I thought about him when I seen that the other day SOS. He looked a fantastic prospect when he first broke through. I think the form of Dembele and the emergence of Dyer kept him out last term. Not a real ball winner the way I see it but very good at turning defence into attack. For what he'd cost though we'd have to offload Bitton/ Johansen. Both of which I'm clinging on to.

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Jul 2016 00:19:33
I don't know how good he is mate! But we been a new CDM urgently the middle of the park was a mess tonight except brown!

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Jul 2016 02:58:49
is that not why we bought young Ajer, he is a natural CDM, that was the position he played at his last club and in international games. I think BR played him at CD as he had no other choice at the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2016 07:16:39
I thought Bitton looked good when he came on. A good footballer who can keep the ball. Maybe slows the play down a little but great sub to bring on in a situation like yesterday's game.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jul 2016 09:07:48
I agree HT. We were far too rushed in the first half. Bitton was a great decision.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jul 2016 09:19:22
When he tries Biton is first class, but totally picks his games and has looked really lazy for a long time. Maybe with him being dropped he now realises he needs to get the finger out, but agree played some lovley passes when he came on last night, chased his man and even muscled another off the ball which I have not seen from him in ages.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2016 13:01:56
Agree again Tompo. If he did the basics with 100% effort everytime, he'd be a player.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2016 22:41:45
Yes Bitton certainly upped his play last night . I might be wrong but he seemed to have a smile on his face , as if he enjoyed it .
I am not sure 30 mins away in Europe in a difficult game& surroundings, but what will he be like on a wet windy night in Ross County.

Has anyone else noticed that a certain bookmakers has been happily bigging up the newest team in Scotland and been mocking ours at every opportunity.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

28 Jul 2016 07:54:52
I have indeed Gordo87 but I'd imagine it's mainly because Celtic fans are among the easiest to get a bite from on social media and any publicity is good publicity as they say. I wouldn't take it personally, they dish it out to them as well.

28 Jul 2016 10:58:02

I haven't noticed any pro-anybody stuff, just the daft wee memes slagging us whenever we get beaten so maybe I just haven't seen it. I'm sure we'll be the ones laughing at the end of the season a yway mate!

27 Jul 2016 22:00:24
Lets boycott the Daily Record, dross reporting, everything negative. Has any of them watched the game? Let the blog know how many of you are up for it? Positive action required. Hail hail.

27 Jul 2016 22:36:23
I'd never buy the sh*t. I just read it online - don't tell anybody but I even skip their survey. To be totally honest it just gives me a laugh. The "journalists" and even ex celts alike. The phone in comments from the zombies are sometimes even the highlight of my day. Some of the absolute guff people spent time waiting in a queue to spout. I like the Celtig blogger though Daniel Cole, usually find myself on the same page as him.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Young Chubs (Danny) doesn't do the blog any more, JT, the guy doing it now is a (swear) zoomer. Btw, even reading their stuff online generates income for them too from advertisers etc.}

27 Jul 2016 22:44:59
Lol zoomer that's quality.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Jul 2016 22:58:57
Really? Jeez, could have swore it was him the other day. Gladly take your word though. Lost me on 'zoomer' big man. I know from my own work that a 'hit' is worth something. I thought it was only if you clicked on an add though. Again, correction accepted. I'm still doing that for this site btw, bit concerned as to how some of them relate to my search history though. My lass keeps peeking over at me on this and there's just big pictures of horny local singles (rofl)

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - The last time I spoke to Danny on Twitter he had stopped doing it and that was a couple of months ago now.
Ed001 is trying to scrape money to cover costs by using preset adverts from GoogleAds etc whereas the Record are selling advertising space on the amount of hits they get - that's how it was explained in idiot terms to me a while back.}

27 Jul 2016 21:55:44
I must be the only person who thinks we played well today. Considering the pitch, good team we were playing, travel issues etc. I was more than pleased. I know O'connell is getting all the praise along with Roberts and deservedly so. But I also though Brown had an excellent game. Just a pity our keeper is murder.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

27 Jul 2016 22:20:52
I also thought we played well.
I was worried after the goal went in and thought this could turn into a 3 - 0 job but we remained disciplined and kept our heads up.
Going a goal down in these games can throw a team either way which normally for us turns the worst way. however we kept focus and got that goal which psychologically puts us in the driving seat.
Nothing fancy or anything to shout about but given the distance traveled, pitch, heat and playing a team midway through there season and top of there league I think we should be reasonably happy.
Delighted to see some youth in the team and it's only BR 3rd game and i'm optimistic about the season ahead.

Sorry bhoys hope I've not jinxed it lol.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 22:25:20
Oconnel lost his man at the goal watch it again although CG never covered himself in glory either.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 23:15:30
How can U say CG is murder! He kept us in the game at times!

Agree0 Disagree4

28 Jul 2016 00:00:49
Kept us in the game? Made a howler. Scrambled back to tip one over the post after being out of position, then made the easiest of long range saves look like Roberto Carlos had hit them. He is dross. He saves a few shots. That's what he is paid to do. He is no better than most goalkeepers in the SPL. Probably worse.

Agree2 Disagree1

28 Jul 2016 00:44:21
I M O Craig Gordon is at the level of goal keeper we can expect . We know we haven't got a team of European best and I would say Gordon and the rest of our first team fit into the same nook, all are at about the one level . We have no reason to believe that Gordon should be capable of carrying out all functions of goal keeper in an excellent manner .
For what is worth, I thought the whole team performed quite well in a good working man's way . great substitutions by B R with all three giving us something extra . I thought Forrest pulled their defence wider creating room . Briton was nothing like the Briton of the last half of last season, strong on the ball& used it . Even Rogic contributed well in his 15-20 mins . Looking good for the home leg .

Agree0 Disagree4

28 Jul 2016 03:05:32
I Was hoping for a win but a draw wasn't a bad result considering they got draws at home against Benfica, Atletico and Galatasaray in the group stage's last season

In their CL run last season including their qualifying rounds and group stage they only scored 2 away goals. I think we will take them at home no problem next week.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 21:02:25
the one thing iv noticed a big difference in is player actually throwing themselves into a challenge. they look into it and up for each other. i think its made a huge difference in the way the team comes across?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2016 22:40:45
Can't say I've noticed a huge difference in that just yet. By comments from the players, they seem reinvigorated by BR. I'm just going to wait to praise him on what he does but if the players have decided to automatically respect him then that's more important. I noticed that he's improved team bonding etc though, which can only be good, so perhaps you've realised more than me.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2016 00:45:44
Jim Jim, hope it isn't too long until u have to praise B R and team.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jul 2016 09:24:21
Performance and result were really good, it is still early days and we seem to be progressing well with each game/ week. JimTim is right in the sense that we can't proclaim br to be the Messiah just yet, Rd got through these early rounds no bother, it was the next round where the level of opponent will be much tougher. However it just shows when the board allow the managero get rid of who he wants, which means the troublemakers can get weeded out, I think that has helped big time with mulgrew away, commons reported to be not wanted, thankfully, forrest I'd punt as well and I think you see the difference straight away in allowing your manager more say, that was lawell who has been causing that for a number of years now, stick 2 finances pistol Pete as he is great at that.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 20:40:00
If we qualify for the next round is that the last qualifier before the group stage?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Yes.}

27 Jul 2016 20:37:44
Ed do you know if the draw for the next round is this Friday like it was with the last draw?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The draw for the play-off round is a week on friday, the 5th of August.

27 Jul 2016 21:03:23
Of course. They'll need to figure out who's in CL and EL first.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 19:57:16
Well happy good result, should see us through, then if we don't make any signings before the next round we only got ourselves to blame, Keep The Faith.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2016 19:45:22
Good result guys, tho at the moment we are no more than decent.
But looking forward I think this could be the best possible time for us to make the CL.
I know the board haven't always backed the team but this time if we make it I think they just might.
The signs are there with the BR appointment, Kolo, Dembele and bids for Sinclair it shows intent for me and that's without CL money.
Also the added benefit of making it is the experience for the players and possibly magical night's at CP. added to that is more spending on better players can only be good for us and would hopefully set us on our way to 10 in a row and dominance in Scottish football.
So for me our next 3 games in Europe could be our most important games for a long time as if we do make it, it could build momentum for years to come.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2016 19:10:09
Couldn't catch the game today due to work but got to say i'm pretty happy with that result. They played 3 home games in CL last season against Athletico Madrid, Benfica and Galatasary and didn't lose any of them (3 draws) . They also knocked out Apoel Nicosea, HJK Helsinki and Maribor to qualify so obviously no mugs. let's just hope we can see it through and put in a performance at paradise!

Skinny I'm hearing Celtic are not prepared to pay Villas asking price fir Scot Sinclair. They are starting to look elsewhere. Balls on villas court.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2016 00:55:33
Villa are holding out I M O to make Sinclair ask for a transfer so that they don't have to pay the % due to him on transfer and any other benefits written into contract .
Celtic looking else where may cause Villa to soften up, if they feel they are going to have an unhappy player on books.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2016 10:21:02
Not really read anywhere that Sinclair is desperate to leave, although your theory would be correct if that was the case.

Great result bad game, I wonder how manyof these players will stillbe at Celtic park in two years time, Given that Rodgers stays that long. KT and Griff, Dembelle and perhaps Roberts.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

27 Jul 2016 19:11:02
Really think it was a bad game? I imagine it would have been good for a neutral, should any of said have tuned in . . .

28 Jul 2016 00:59:29
Great result, great game, what I wanted was to bring that lot back to Glasgow with us in the game . I don't think the actual quality displayed by either side today had any importance, as a Celtic supporter I want us to come through to the next round .

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 18:42:50
So a few thoughts for the return leg next week, regarding defence.
Does Toure come in (not match fit) and has not yet built a rapour with team mates.
If Erik is fit do we then keep young Oconnell in place or keep with experience.

Thoughts Guys

B R has the decision to make and I will back and support what ever decision he makes.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 18:41:14
Very happy with that result. But we got away with murder. Hate to flog a dead horse but the few times Efe messed up could have cost us the tie. Scott Brown is a liability. all he does now is chase the game and give away fouls. ref was a c@nt but would never expect anything else from an Italian. I expect to win at home but got to say I'm tired of this shit. having to play so many rounds to get into the champions league proper. This competition is as corrupt as the British government.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2016 19:07:40
BEst post of the afternoon: who can disagree with any of these controversial points (I actually thought Efe was decent) Broony had a howler, ref was on the take, and UEFA and White Hall may be in cahoots. Tell it like it is, Fraserbhoy!

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2016 01:09:04
I wonder if someone hates to flog a dead horse why he has to flog the dead horse . Neither the two centre halves we had today would be in our top 3/ 4 centre halves . We should be very proud of how young O'Connell performed, one of our own that we have trained for yrs. We had problems with 2nd centre half position and B R must have tried various combinations in his mind before opting for the unreliable Ambrose Ambrose stood up well and made minimum mistakes and if he should leave Celtic now at least he should leave on a high.

Well done bhoys, great result to come from behind away. Never seen the game a was working n couldn't get away, listening to it on the radio was murder but am glad a did. Got to celebrate like a loon in front of the Paris buns on the site, which was nice since a was getting pelters (not without reply don't worry) for most of the game. Added bonus was that a had Griffiths anytime and 1-1 only had a fiver on it but still up £80 hail hail.

If we're looking for a new keeper then this guy would be worth a shout.

Youtube him. Vladimir Gabulov

Unattached and has a decent pedigree. Gordon appears to lack confidence, is a bit indecisive at times and whilst he's not a bad shot stopper his overall game is occasionally suspect.

27 Jul 2016 18:39:25
I am relieved and happy with that score after losing an early goal. OK we rode our luck a bit, but we are due a wee result away in Europe.
Obviously we still have a lot to do and need to get our best defenders fit and playing together, but we have a chance and I would have taken that result any day.
Unfortunately these qualifiers come too soon and a few managers (and players) have been caught out too often, but if we can negotiate this tie and get another couple in the door, then hopefully we can see the back of Forrest, Ciftci and Ambrose etc and a goalie is a priority for me.
I appreciate this is not easy as players hold out until late in the window for the best deals and CL football is usually an attraction, so we may well have to try for the group stage with what we have in order to improve the squad?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 18:49:03
Yeah that first time he skipped by . . . rapido! need to watch out for that. But the positioning and read of the game prevailed from such a young'n: no slight thing keeping Emilio on the bench (I know) but this lad has hardly put a foot wrong since coming in to the first team. When can we last say that about a player?

{Ed007's Note - If we get through this round yes, even if we go out the CL at the next stage we'd go into the EL Group Stages. The losers of this tie, hopefully Astana, go into the EL play-off round so could still end up with no European football.}

27 Jul 2016 19:14:13
Tough tie given the stakes Ed, no doubt. That must have weighed a little on the team today and the more credit to them. That's as I recall from our recent overseaas misadventures - but thanks for confirming. How you keep all this straight I don't know.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's a bit of a struggle at times.}

27 Jul 2016 17:19:51
It's only a good result if we follow it up with another good result next week. We ALWAYS look vulnerable in defence. Even the Imps gave us a scare or two at Paradise. Kolo can only make a certain amount of difference, he can't defend against everyone on his own. I know injuries to a couple of key defenders isn't helping us at the moment but if my heart comes up my throat any further I'll be spitting it out.
Anyway, I'd have taken that result before the game. We're still in it but we have work to do at home.

Agreed, but so much negativity. This team qualified last season and had some decent results, just look at the daily Rangers negativity to a Scottish team getting a result! I believe that positive minds will create a self worth feeling and build a team spirit. We have spent the last two seasons criticising everyone. The past is the past, ONWARDS AND UPWARDS.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 19:14:42
Islandbhoy I thought we played well throughout at times had masses of possession and kept it well and if we went forward and didn't find an opening went back and kept it. Didn't have lots of chances however Roberts tore them apart, specially 1st half and chased down a ball the defender tried to jockeyout 4 our goal, took it off the defender and played a perfect pass 2 Griff who took a touch 2 move it on2 his left n banged it. As for their goal Gordon mostly 2 blame flying out like superman, he was actually past the player who headed it in, almost at his 6 yard box n the boy who scored was roughly half way between the goal line n 6 yard line. Fair enough O'Connell should have been tighter 2 the guy but 4 me Gordon was in no man's land.
Other than that they had moments here n there n a chance at the end when Ambrose didn't follow his man n O'Connell had 2 on him n Gordon had a few saves 2 make, no more than u would expect in European games but overall I think most had a good game, brown I think looks sharper with each week and stood up for -kt at the end when the guy just smacked the ball of him. Bad loser, n Broonyjust walked over n shouldered a boy down n stood up 2 others doing what a captain should do in my opinion -kt had a whippet up against him but handled it brilliant as the wee man always does. Roberts outstanding again as well as O'Connell and Ambrose played well 2. MacGregor dembele, and Griff at times were quite quiet however overall I think 1 1 is a great score n I haven't seen anything g 2 worry about at home. A full Celtic park and I can see us scoring 2 or 3. Hail hail.

Well done bhoys!

Considering the circumstances I'd say let's give huge credit to the team. Yes there are areas of improvement but on the whole the effort was there and that's something that was missing from a lot of the players last season.

Another pleasing thing for me is the unity in the team. I love seeing all the players celebrating a goal and backing each other up at the end when there was a bit of needle!

Let's get behind the team, be patient and encourage all the players at Paradise.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

That team unity is something that has been lacking in recent times. Hopefully it only gets stronger. Early days yet but BR seems to have spotted that as an area where we were poor.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2016 17:08:44
substitutions played a huge role. Big ups the manager. Biton, Forrest (despite some slackness) and Rogice allowed us to tack control of the midfield game at the critical juncture.

27 Jul 2016 17:39:52
Massive result without a doubt but we rode our luck big time! Young O'Connell will be better for the experience and showed some encouraging signs, although, still has a lot to learn. Hopefully, that is the last we see of Efe in a European tie because is simply too error prone. I'm still scratching my head as to what McGregor brings to this team and despair at the thought we lose Liam Henderson to Hibs when he is clearly a superior player. No disrespect to Stuart Armstrong but I'm not convinced of his pedigree at this level and thought we had more penetration when Rogic came on.

27 Jul 2016 17:02:04
After a few poor passes and some nervy moments in first 10 minutes O'Connell came into the game and played pretty good. Generally there was really poor marking at set pieces which cost us the clean sheet today. Last 15 minutes Celtic out played them and Biton and rogics fresh legs made the difference. Looked like big Biton was up for it getting stuck in for a change. Celtic are now favourites.

No comments about O'Connell at the corner . His man got the goal but it's Efe and Gordon to blame.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 16:56:49
There goes the Ambrose bashing again, the faintest of touches he got or didn't get, couldn't tell due to the angle but he certainly put the striker behind him off otherwise he was scoring so well down Ambrose, poor from Gordon but he has pulled off a few decent saves mind, still prefer a new keeper. Roberts quality for our goal and tore them apart, specially 1st half, good finish from griff, ref has been woeful though. Hail hail the celts r here great score n well down Broony at the end there sticking it to they twats n standing up for wee -kt who had another great game as did O'Connell bar the goal although felt Gordon was more at fault. Anyway part 1 of the job done.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 16:59:10
I agree but my point is the corner should never have been conceded and realistically any keeper worth his salt would have punched that cross clear. Gordon is unable to command his area.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 17:05:46
Almost agreed with everything you said there shaw. But c'mon brown was getting away with a yellow but to his usual self he couldn't help himself to it.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 17:12:07
Ambrose pulled a shift today, looked decent moving forward and held the line. Not sure why Gordon went at the corss like that, so there's a few errors and to single out Efe isn't quite fair. Good show today: we're still warming up and while they're still in it, I reckon Celtic Park and another week of training will see us through.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 17:15:36
Efe should have cleared but he's not at fault for goal that's GG fault.
I'm not an efe btw but harsh to blame him for everything.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 21:59:01
If u watch the move prior 2 the corner 4 their goal ball gets played across slightly behind Ambrose who goes 2 clear but seems 2 take a slight touch, ho through his legs and actually away from the striker who was almost 6 yards output with a clear strike at goal, the ball then goes out from lustig or O'Connell so Ambrose does alright and as a defender first thought should be get the ball away from goal and deal with any set played from there.
At the corner we set up fine but O'Connell doesn't stay tight 2 his man however if Gordon stays on his line he probably saves it, and if he comes out I'd expect him 2 b closer to the ball then he was. Ambrose nowhere near so no blame for him, although I couldn't help but laugh at that twat Michael Stewart in commentary well with Ambrose on the park it causes others 2 make mistakes. Wow, just unbelievable.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 22:08:16
Yayo, for me I didn't think brown did 2 much wrong, I feel his fitness and performances are starting 2 get better and for me he kept the ball pretty well so I think we will see Scott back to form we know he is capable of. How many times did their players do ours? lustig in the 1st few mins could have been yellow, the left back done Roberts 4 or 5 times n the ref never even had a word so 4 me brown did no worse challenges than anybody else.
As for at the end when I played football someone starts on 1 of your players you make sure u back him up, specially the captain n do u think Roy Keane or Roy Aitken would have stood by and watched someone take a liberty with one of their players, absolutely no chance and good on brown n the others who stood up for a mate, lustig, button and even Griff who was pushed by the way n yet no booking for that, only cards for brown n the boy who smacked -kt with the ball.

27 Jul 2016 15:38:59

I mind when this 'banter' page used to be full of banter and a good laugh. Nowadays it just seems the majority of the posts are utter garbage to let off steam during what must be that time of month. It's not even August yet and all we see is complaint after complaint. Buying the right players takes time. Finding buyers for underperforming players takes even longer. All you girls in twist your knickers and get behind the team. And as for the poster who would rather not qualify for the champions league? That's just ridiculous. The buzz about the place, the experience for our current players, the potential of higher quality players willing to sign, the money involved to help us improve our squad. Let's just ditch all of that and concentrate on the betfred cup then yeah?

27 Jul 2016 13:34:44
Well said mikeybhoy.

The only thing I would say is leave the betfred cup alone it's a prestigious tournament lol.
How anyone can say they would prefer that to the CL is crazy.

Support the team and celebrate the result, don't care who we play but if it's a choice between Dortmund and Ayr I know what I would be more excited about.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - And Dortmund would rather play the 4th place team in England than Celtic - we're the same as Ayr Utd to the elite European clubs and always will be.}

27 Jul 2016 13:57:47
That's not how I see celtic but everyone's entitled to an opinion.

Seen many an interview with world class players ie Messi, iniesta, xavi, pique, pirlo to name a few and they rave about celtic.
Not sure they compare us to Ayr utd.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It's not an opinion, it's a fact, otherwise we'd be involved in the breakaway league talks. Soundbites during pre/post match interviews hardly counts as raving about Celtic btw, and anyway, I'm talking about the men who run the clubs and run football - the people that matter.}

27 Jul 2016 14:13:09
Well said mikey, I've been on this forum for yrs and stopped posting due to the constant bitching and whining of the so called greatest supporters in the world, I remember the old guard on here, that would always be like that, banter and patter, these days it seems that if you say anything positive there's always someone actually critisizing positive posts. i actually fear for teirney as if he has a few bad games the (real fans) are on his back, same as forrest, same as brown, seems like its a seige mentality for some.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 14:24:11
The more negative you are the more welcome you are made . In my old age stupidity I thought that Celtic forums should support the Celtic club, and be a site Celtic fans could go to be cheered up and lifted.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's plenty of other forums you can go that are full of starry eyed idiots who'll tell you everything's brilliant.}

27 Jul 2016 14:36:04
Not sure what facts back you up Ed if any and we would never be involved in breakaway talks but that's a reflection on the league not the club. The breakaway is purely financial and that's a fact and again not a reflection of the club.

Sorry if it's not to your standards or the people that matters but Ayr utd think your missing my point.

As I said earlier the CL could be taken out our hands by the big guns so at least then you can be happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If the breakway league is purely financial why isn't a club that Messi, iniesta, xavi, pique, pirlo rave about involved?
The Celtic board have taken the CL out of our hands but you keep blaming everyone else if it suits.}

27 Jul 2016 15:31:36
Who am I blaming Ed? And for what?
I'm saying i love my team and yes I big us up so what.
Are we in the same league financially as man city etc of course not but are we a smaller club not in my opinion you think different clearly but that's your opinion.

Your losing focus of my point IF the breakaway happens I'm sure Barcelona and Messi will be there remember g14.

I also don't blame the board for taking the same risks the gers took, never have never will.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've no idea what you're talking about. YOU are saying Celtic are a bigger club than Man City, I'm telling you how the people running the game see it, not me.}

Liam Henderson to Hibs? Every time I've watched him he has been good - great. Clearly the lad needs games and doesn't look like he's part of BR's immediate plans. However I think we need to send him to a better level, at least the SPL, to further his development. A season in our own league, or even a superior one, would be a much better level to gauge where he's at in terms of playing regularly for us.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2016 09:16:27
Henderson should not be going anywhere.
He's been out enough.
He's won medals at both his loan deals.
He's played and had an assist against inter Milan
He is good enough.
he should be further up the pecking order at park head
If rogic and johansen rumours are true then that's 2 out of midfield
She scott Allan out because he isn't good enough and that's 3.
Henderson is going to be lost to us if this continues.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Jul 2016 09:17:41
I agree JimTim although for me this was the season I wanted to see Henderson break into the 1st team and I believe under Rd he would have. I like how he plays and he links midfield to the forwards really well, even if he didn't start every game with the players that we have got rid of, as well as those that should be moved on, commons, Forrest etc I think he would and should have got more game time as I think he is a quality player and offers way more than allan. Who Rd didn't even want or rate.
Heard the rumour that rogic may be on the way out which I don't agree with either, think he could develop into a real star for us just like Henderson.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 09:28:37

27 Jul 2016 10:07:47
Fair points all round. On their day, Brown, Bitton and Johansen are better, or perhaps more established and just a safer bet for a new manager? However in terms of consistency, I've never seen Henderson have a bad game. Under RD I'm sure he would have came through bigshaw, as would Nesbitt. Throw Armstrong, McGregor, Ajer and Allen in the mix and it's an area we really need to just be ruthless and trim. Problem is nobody stands out as first name on the sheet along side Brown. For me, getting him back on form, it would be Johansen, whilst McGregor and Allen are the easiest to depart with. If we can get decent money for Bitton and Johansen, fair enough. That would leave us with money for a first choice CM with Brown, with Armstrong, Henderson and Ajer making up the numbers in that dept. They're the 3 for me that looking forward have the most potential.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Jul 2016 10:34:35
Bigshaw I am a big fan of rogic but heard he wants to leave. If that's true then punt him.

Jimtim i can't agree with you saying let mcgregor go.
He is a good player and seems very under rated in my eyes.
Every squad needs a utility player like him.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 12:11:39
Kev83 if any player wants 2 leave I usually wouldn't b stopping them however rogic was quality last season, scored some belters, and important goals, the Kilmarnock 1 nil game most notable I think. Anytime I read interviews/ reports etc he seemed 2 b really happy under Rd and over his injury problems and a regular for the Aussies (think back to under Lenny n he was nowhere near the starting 11 even when fit and folk questioned the signing especially when he went out on loan) . Either interest from other clubs/ rumours of interest have unsettled him or possibly br has come in and doesn't fancy him as a player. I find that strange as I think he offers more than Forrest who should be gone 4 the part he played in the commons clique (they play a different position but essentially both are forward going players and you'd expect your forwards to have end product in terms of killer pass, finishing and crossing, Forrest for me isn't good enough and should be trying to be more like Patrick Roberts, Scott Allan can go too just not Celtic class that's why Rd barely played him)
As for Henderson I don't see the point in another loan, every time he has played 4 celtic he has never looked out of place and I'd have no fears throwing him straight in as I think he's quality.
Agree with JimTim on McGregor to an extent, he came on leaps and bounds thanks 2 Rd as before that he was just bang average and another not fulfilling potential, still has some way to go as I still think at times he goes missing in games but if he keeps working hard could become even better but needs to show more in big games and Europe.
I do think going forward that with brown out of the way, I'm talking mid to long term I'd like to see our midfield being Armstrong Henderson and Ajer with Roberts and dembele from wide as forwards cutting in, all dependant on formation the manager goes for, although I'm basing that on the assumption that the board are looking to offload johansen (for me always a starter) and bitton by the sounds of it, if we can't get Roberts permanent then nesbit, and McGregor in there 2 and let these players develop playing for Celtic instead of being punted here and there and never really coming back and making it.
We then have good youth waiting in the wings and add a bit of experience and maybe 1 or 2 top players here and there but we need to try and get back to the days where our team is mostly Scottish, last season Rd had 9 Scottish players out against think it was Ajax and on here everyone was slaughtering us for getting beat but for me I was chuffed to see almost a full team of Scots, didn't enjoy the result but despite the result I want to see us progress our own born and bred players as shown with Tierney they will play for the jersey, not there for the money and give 100% and actually have talent and can play if given the chance by the manager and backing of the fans, rather than booing and shouting abuse at misplaced passes, it happens and encouragement will help them more.
Most of Europe is waking up to the fact money doesn't grow on trees and they need to start developing their own and if it was good enough for big jock it's good enough for me. Sorry for the long winded rant haha.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Jul 2016 12:52:58
Bigshaw like I have said I am a fan of rogic and would like to keep him on for years but if he doesnot feel the same it's his lose.
I would love to see a team built entirely from our youth system one day. But I know that's a pipe dream.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Jul 2016 13:46:44
I agree kev83 on both points although as for a team built from youth I think with the lack of money and quality for what you pay now is as good a time as any to start it, the building blocks and modernising the club has been done under Rd so let's hope that continues and br is made to continue that on. If we don't then we might as well sell lennoxtown and just buy other teams best young players, if we don't produce our own there's no point having this so called state of the art facility. Again I'll go back to big jock but it didn't seem to bother him or Celtic teams of the past where they trained.

So here we go with the annual toys out the pram blame game . Why is everyone so desperate to make the champions league to play against team's with 30 or 40 times our budget or more, it's a horrible competition that the big boys have designed to make sure they are the only ones that can win it , look at the list of winners from the last 20 years all elite clubs from nations with Europe's top tv money . The competition means nothing to me and if you offered me a quarter final spot today or a league and cup double then i would take the latter everytime.

Woop de doo we beat Barcelona, and yes it was a great night and I was cheering as loud as anyone that night, we play them again on Saturday and if we beat them again we win exactly what we won that night, nothing diddly squat, the record's from that season show once again we got papped out on our arse when the elite clubs got serious . I'm not asking you if you would rather win the league cup, I'm asking if you would rather win six in a row or make the quarter final of the money grabbers league , if it is the former as it would be for me , then tonight's game is not a big deal and is nowhere near as important as some of you are making out, I wonder where some of you were during the 90s when I would have given anything just to win a league title , are you old enough to remember when big Pierre scored against Airdrie to win our first trophy in SIX long years, I celebrated much harder that night than I did when we beat Barcelona, did some of you just start going to the games when martin oneil took over?

We'd just be as well chucking it listening to you fab. Porto (under Mourinho) won the Champions League the year after Seville. Athletico have been in 2 finals and have brought in more money with selling players than they have spent. So in comparison to what Man City/ Chelsea, or PSG they should have no chance according to you. It's also bizarre you chose to say that straight after Leicester winning the league, surely to God that shows that shows that you should never stop dreaming. Just because we were rotten in Lennons last year, and the 2 under Ronny doesn't mean we can't improve. I think if we could get money for Johansen, Biton, get rid of the chancers like Commons, who only spoil the atmosphere, and the dead wood then we can get better. The more I think about Toure the more pleased I am - he looks in great shape, he only turned 35 a couple of months ago. For a centre half that's not old, especially one who doesn't drink alcohol and eats well. If we can add another 3/ 4 players of quality then who knows! Bottom line, - we shouldn't be losing 6 goals to Barcelona, or losing 5 against Juve just because they have more money/ play in better leagues. When we beat Inter in Lisbon we were huge underdogs. When we lost against Feyenoord in 1970 we were huge favourites. That's how it should be - nothing is a given!

Porto was more than 20YEARS AGO and you use athletico as a stick to beat me, a team from one of the elite leagues who regularly buy players at 30 and 40 million pounds? Then you go back to Lisbon and Milan when the only thing that remains the same about those competition's is the trophy you win at the end of it, I would love it to go back to those days of one off knockout ties but it won't, why because it's all about the big elite teams making money , oh wait I think this is where I came in .

Fab are you saying win league but don't enter us in europe as we don't want beat by better teams?

Oh wait one more thing you say we were rotten in Lennons last year and ronnies two, so when we were good, how far did we go? The last 32 . You keep dreaming and I will enjoy the titles and cups that we can and do win, while you enjoy dreaming of real toying with us at the bernabeu or the glory of Bayern only beating us by one at the Allianz, and if you really lucky we might get a result at home against one of them and finish second in the group, oh the joys .

For those even discussing this I'm confused and surprised after the abuse Rd took from so called Celtic supporters as unless br wins the treble, qualifies for the champions league and plays attractive football then he's out of a job at the end of this season as going by the majority of posts last season that's the least that was expected, unless of course br is given more time because he is Irish.
For me I enjoy european nights so long as we're competing. If were not then it doesn't interest me in seeing us getting pumped, however I want to continue to dominate domestically while improving the squad etc year by year to help compete in europe, be it el or cl. how well we do in Europe is down to mainly how well the board support the manager as well as players actually playing for the jersey, anybody not should be dropped and sold, sacked or let go immediately.
If you look at the games we failed in last season, namely malmo, Virgil was at fault for at least 2 goals which cost us qualification yet he was given no blame, anybody who disagrees watch the games back as he was caught sleeping at 2 corners we conceded from which if we didn't concede we would have qualified, then he had the cheek to leave due to no champions league football.

And what's Pierre scoring against Airdrie got to do with it? I've been going to the games long before that, - off the top of my head that was the year after my favourite player Paul McStay missed the penalty against Raith Rovers. Those were dark dark days, and if it wasn't for the maestro then we really would have been as well chucking it. Is it too normal to want to do well domestically and even OK in Europe? Oh and by the way all the fans, are yourself included I'm sure are still talking about the Lisbon Lions 50 years later, - I don't know many who are talking about a few Skol Cup's we won 2 or 3 decades ago! So yes Van Hooidonk scoring that goal was great, I still see McKinley's cross, and Peter Grant on his knees at the final whistle, and Tommy Burns smiling, it doesn't define me as a Celtic supporter though!

Absolutely not deep river the problem I have is with the idiots who think tonight is the pinnacle of our season and start recrimination and abusing, Dermot and peter lawell if we don't qualify , its not tonight is a bonus for winning the league last year, if we make it great, if not then so be it, it won't be the end of the world, now if we don't win the league I will be devastated , that's the important one imo .

I'm not even going to discuss it with you fab, - there's something far wrong with you. You're even making things up now - Mourinho was only at Porto for a couple of years and it wasn't more than 20 years ago, well not in my world! And I was meaning relatively when I mentioned Athletico (compared to PSG, M City, etc) You're actually embarrassing yourself now. Away and splash some water on your face and sort yourself out!

And yet now all these years later delphic the definition of our season is whether we can win the annual game of Russian roulette to become cannon fodder for Barcelona and real, yes I would rather WIN the league cup than be in the champions league just to make money but that is not the point, the point I was trying to make is that all the people further down the page who have started calling out our chief executive and the board already, before we have even kicked off, are treating this game as the be all and end all of the season, it's not .

And I'm pretty sure if we don't do all the things you mentioned some idiots will be on here and on the phone ins demanding his sacking , as sure as night follows day .

I'll make it a little more simple for you! Porto won it the year after Seville - that wasn't more than 19 years ago. They won it in 2004, that makes it 2024 in your world fab. You've cheered me up if nothing else! It was going to be a long day at work, I'll just think of you and it'll cheer me up. Thankfully I didn't read your post earlier though, otherwise I wouldn't have got out of bed, - I would have just stopped living, knowing that there was never any chance of surprising anyone, punching above my weight or doing too well. Ambition - how stupid of me!

Sorry Porto won it 14 years ago, real, Barcelona, real, Bayern, Chelsea , Barcelona, inter, Barcelona, man u, ac Milan , Barcelona , Liverpool, PORTO, ac Milan , real, Bayern, real, man u, real, Dortmund , juventus . A list of the world's richest clubs? A list of the clubs who make the most tv money? Could quite conceivably be either but no it's the teams who have won the champions league in the last 20 years, no coincidence that the same names would pop up on all three lists, and since Porto won it they have re invented it to make it even more impossible for teams outside the big leagues to win it and are looking at ways to stop the teams from the smallest countries even getting in it . It's a competition for the sole purpose of making money from mugs like you for the biggest clubs and tv company's , while your day dreaming of Lisbon and Porto they are stealing your cash . Get it back to a two legged knockout competition and we can all start dreaming.

How are they making money from mugs like me? I might be a mug, but I spend money on what I want, and when I want it! You're obviously just in a bad mood, is it the time of the month? I want Celtic to do as humanly possible in every single thing they enter! They got to the knockout stages during the years you mention so I don't have a clue what you're raving away about. I'm not demanding they win it, purely they put up a good show and do justice to the club. You're one of these primitive, intransigent fans that isn't interested in anyone else's thoughts, and that's cool, but I live in the hope that we can do well again. We know about the monopoly of top teams/ top leagues - you're telling us things the 10 year old kid in the street knows. In life things change, there might be other opportunities with teams like Porto, Ajax, Benfica, Olympiakos etc etc. We're not the only huge club with the same pressures/ restrictions, but it's alright to keep thinking and hoping there might be better days around the corner! If it doesn't happen that's fine, - that's how life works. There's being pessimistic, there's being realistic, then there's being you!

That's who your comparing Celtic to a once proud club, feared throughout Europe, now reduced to scrambling around far flung corners of Europe trying desperately to bag a restricted view seat at the big show by the very competition that you think is so great, I give up end of thread .

27 Jul 2016 12:12:14
Fab. Your saying you don't want us to enter cl because we will get beat 🤔.
So if we enter transfer talks with a player and they ask what are our ambitions are we say, oh were looking for a title push and league cup semis.
What about European football, nah that's not for us we don't like getting beat so we don't bother.

How can we slag the board for lack of ambition when your just as bad.

27 Jul 2016 12:55:07
No tick never said anything like that, please read the posts I have made on the thread before commenting, I said it is a overrated , overhyped competition , which the people further down the page should not be using as a gauge to judge our season , if we qualified it would be a bonus and people should stop bumping there gums about peter and the board spending money to get there, just to play couple of glamour games in a competition we have no chance of winning , our sole focus should be 6 in a row , even if we qualify, we should rest players for the league games, after all as everyone else seems to think it's all about the prestige of playing in it even though it would be almost impossible to win it .

Fab1888 read my post at no point did I say Rd got sacked, he quit because of morons who call themselves Celtic supporters constantly giving him abuse no matter what he did, good bad or indifferent and felt with the current squad couldn't do much else (funny how br comes in and is allowed to get rid of whoever he wants, you can guarantee lawell has had to give away some of his power in those circumstances) . We were cheated out of a treble in his 1st season in charge (Inverness handball shame as well as Craig Gordon selling the jerseys again, but no doubt that's rd's fault that lawell signed a goalkeeper who wasn't good enough for us even in his hey day) and in his 2nd the same happened again pretty much against county we were robbed and the players against newco let themselves down and the fans more so by putting in a woeful performance despite which we easily should have won that game, but missed chances Roberts and Griff at the end both should have been goals. As every decent manager says it's small details and that's what happened there but clowns will tell you different. All this despite several trouble makers causing issues behind the scenes to the point where some players were playing for the manager and others weren't giving a toss, if they worked in my work they'd be sacked immediately. I certainly don't think we went backwards under Rd, we had European football in both seasons and his record is no worse than Lennon's, despite Lennon being given a better quality of player, he won 3 trophies out of 6 which 4 someone who was given utter dross players, Allan, ciftci, ckrichards, etc as well as being given no influence over who came in and who left, which allowed trouble maker commons (he who threw his toys out the pram under Lenny as well) to stir things up to the point one of our best players in Kieran Tierney almost took things further, as well as having to modernise not only our football club, youth structure, ethos and mentality, sports science, diet etc I'd say he did a great job under those constraints not to mention having parks pet Collins forced on him and getting no backing from the board.
I agree with you that any bad performance or result will be widely criticised however already people r giving more leeway to br than Rd ever got, ed007 already made this point however since Rd joined Celtic it was it we lose this game he should go, if he plays Ambrose he should go, if he doesn't do a treble he should go same as relating to Europe to the point where last season folk were on here saying these next 3 games or this next month is make or break time, that was happening constant. I can't think of many other Celtic managers who took more abuse than Rd.
I was at Celtic Park, can't mind who we played and I was literally arguing with folk for shouting abuse at our manager, I thought for a minute I must have been at the asbestos dome, then next thing some twat giving it about big Isa, hey you go with him as well hen, total embarrassment some folk even claiming to be Celtic fans while doing that.

Lachlan B R may or may not have to use Efe Ambrose tomorrow evening, he would be very foolish to ridicule or condemn Efe on the eve of the game .
After all very many of the Celtic supporters have done their best to destroy Efe's confidence .

Personally I can't believe we are at the end of July and we haven't gotten shot of Ambrose yet.

That said, he does have the potential to good. Remember when he first came? He was one of our star men. So much so that when he flew back from the African Cup of Nations he was straight in the team to play Juve that night. We were all relieved big Efe was back to marshall the defence, Juve didn't have a hope in hell of scoring!

Then the game started.

He's been horrendous ever since!
