Wanyama and Matthews look really good signings, both played really well in second half

DazzaBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, Wanyama's the size of a tank and played well, especially first half, Matthews played well, the two strikers on trial didn't show anything, Pletikosa was suspect at first goal - kicking good though, Sammy blasted a sitter over the bar, Mulgrew ok, Maj caught on the wrong side a couple of times. That's it, good night and God Bless....Miko

It is becoming fairly clear that nobody will agree on the issues of songs sung at matches. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the matter, however perhaps someone can enlighten me as to what exactly football has to do with religion and politics and what makes people who sing about It think that football stadiums are the right platform to air their opinions on It. Both clubs have condemned the songs so It clearly is in no way meant as a way of supporting either clubs. Surely If people feel the need to air their opinions in a public domain they should organise another platform to air these views. The clubs don't want It in the stadiums and neither do the vast majority of fans.

Aye the Hoke Pokey (or Koki as Celtic fans were going to sing for Mizuno) it's been suggested had some vague roots in the Catholic church (as no-one really knows how it started). Some politician suggested it was sectarian to sing it at football grounds. Moron. {Ed007's Note - Michael Matheson suggested that it was anti-Catholic. As you say, Moron.}

i think the Scottish song and the bottle of whisky Hundred Pipers should be banned as it has the derogatory H word at the beginning i think its a vague attempt to insult us Rangers Fans i wont even mention the two closet tims called the proclaimers with their sectarian anthem 5 Hundred miles lol

what do you think Ed

Tony {Ed007's Note - Did you know The Proclaimers aren't even related? It is all just an act that was thought up.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The proclaimers offend me can i get a new law banning their songs??... that is how it works these days isnt it? get offended, complain to someone, get offensive thing banned and made illegal??

Correct J-mac, it's a social issue, on our streets, in our schools, at the f*ckin bus stop, etc. Education is the key....Miko

Re: Miko u say education is the key .... if 5-10 yr olds are at the stadium and they are hearing these songs that their fellow peers and in many respects people they look up to are singing these songs what education is this ? if the songs are never sung the young uns will never replicate them. This is the impression you want them to have?

I really don't want this site to become a political minefield and I don't enjoy having to talk about sectarianism etc. But someone comparing an orange walk to the Pope's visit? Dear oh dear, behave yourself. Orange walks celebrate williams victory in the battle of the boyne. The battle of the boyne happened because catholic king james was overthrown because he was seen to be giving british catholics more of a say in matters they had not been entitled to before. The most frustrating part is that lots of the people who follow the marches wont even know the general back story of it but just attend because they are protestants. As a catholic I feel a massive sense of resentment when I see marches go by as I have been born and raised in Britain just as they have, I pay my taxes and I contribute to society etc. but I can't marry into the royal family or be prime minister because I am a catholic. Now how anyone can say this is remotely similar to pope benedict saying a mass in scotland is beyond me.

People are far too easily offended nowadays, its getting totally blown out of proportion tbh, last nite at ibrox i heard a soldier was booted out because he sang rule britannia, now that is a total joke.im guilty of singing rebel songs at games and i dont apologise for it either, scottish society has always been sectarian so why dont salmon and co deal with this instead of listening to what fans sing.

If you dont want it rammed into your son sit in the family section mate, sat there for years without hearin any songs never mind celtic or ira ones as you put it. Theres your solution to your dilemma, so stop moaning now eh? Its your prerogative how you parent but dont try to shame me cause i dont fall into your line. Life aint a bed o roses, maybe the wee man needs to learn that
jamie mac

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Correct J-mac, it's a social issue, on our streets, in our schools, at the f*ckin bus stop, etc. Education is the key....Miko

Agree0 Disagree0

We both have season tickets and i wont let ignorant gorillas like you go against what the CLUB have asked and is that your answer dont like it ... move somewere else ? painting a lovely picture of yourself Jamie

Cant believe you answer was if u dont want your son to be offended by offensive songs is to move. I and he have just as much right to be there as you (well i dare say if u ask celtic they would prefer me and my son to you). I mean if your that confident that what your doing is all ok then gimme your seat number ... well forward all this stuff on to celtic and they can decide whether your still entitled to sit there and sing along with the songs (as you admitted you do) then eh?

pfft move to another section of the stadium ... you cant hear the songs there ... such nonesense

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellow tic fans surely you can back me up here ..... what do you all think.

Do you think Jamie is right and I should move my son and I's seat so not to hear IRA chants and songs .

Or Im right and should be able to sit werever i buy a ticket for and people like him need to start listening to what the club asks.

Agree0 Disagree0

I kinda see where jamie is comin from even if he is wrong.

it has to be said tho if Lenny has come out representing the club and asked us not to sing they songs we shouldnt be singing them end of.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're BOTH right buddy, can we move on from this before it starts to get offensive....please?........Miko

Agree0 Disagree0

So the answer to the problem for those that dont want to hear songs of no relevance to a SPORT, is to move to another section why dont we just supply everyone (players included) with earmuffs upon entry so folk can shout , sing whatever the hell they like?? ban pitchside mic's so folk on telly cant hear, and put the stadium in a biig bubble so no one outside can hear? There no one offended all done

Like tony says in a diff post, someone will take offence at anything if i said i worshiped lentil soup and started a lentil walk i would offend someone who preffered tomato soup its time all this sort of crap was kept away from a SPORT its about enjoying the game between two hopefully close teams with the best one coming out on top end of, no need for all this republican army, religious crap that comes with it. Fair enough you can have banter, hes fat, hes ugly, yous are crap etc etc etc etc etc but when it gets into the realm it gets to in scotland ( not just the old firm) its beyond the joke

Evinguu

Agree0 Disagree0

Shouldnt even be an arguement.... IRA songs and chants should not be sung at games. Young fans are our future. It seems this guy needs to move with the times

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys like this need to get a grip, folk that sing these songs are doing our club no favours what so ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can you not give it a rest mate and take your boy to the family section the clue is in the name.
i mean i would not buy a house in a street that orangemen march up and down would you?

Oh, my last word on this sectarian crap....I don't care what the Shame sing, I don't find it offensive at the football, not at all because I don't care. People are over sensitive......we're up to our knees in fenian blood, blah, blah, blah. Lot of p*sh, it'll always probably be there in the fixture and I believe that others believe the Old Firm fixture would be poorer without it. Controversial, I know.....what offends me is when dobbers draped in orange are lawfully allowed to march down the street and celebrate the massacre of thousands of Catholics and I've to pay for the policing. Eh? How can politicians condemn this behaviour at football games, yet allow these neanderthals to disturb the peace on our streets. They say it's their right to do so, aye right then I watch these morons when they march, they are all beer swigging neds that couldn't string a sentence together if their life depended on it, lol.....Miko

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Miko i understand that you might not be, the point im making is i have a 5 yr old boy and i dont want this crap rammed into him ..... i take my bhoy to support my football team. None of the stuff you mention absolutely none of this belongs at a football ground. Would this be acceptable at a primary school course not so shouldnt be allowed somewere that people of the same age group are encouraged to go. Celtic themselves condemn it this is all you need to know there should be no arguement after that

Agree0 Disagree0

You have a point there Miko but should remembrance day be banned in case it offends the Germans as 10s of thousands of German civilians were killed during bombing raids should the hundreds of mourners be arrested for marching along with the funeral procession of Highlander Scott McLaren, of the 4th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland in case it offends the Muslims and should The Ancient Order of Hibernians be banned from marching in case it offends the protestants what im getting at is no matter what anyone does there is someone out there who will take offence.

Tony

Agree0 Disagree0

One more thing Miko you say you hate the thought of your money going on policing the Orange March and i agree with you on that one. but how do you stand on your money going to the millions it took to police Pope Benedicts vist to Scotland. {Ed007's Note - The Papal visit was an official State Visit, the cost of policing it was £1.4 million with the over all cost to taxpayers estimated at between £10-12 million, the Catholic Church contributed between £9/10 million.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly, who is this? Secondly, what about sectarianism on our streets? This is a social issue pal, so should we not start on the streets firstly? Surely your kids venture onto the streets too.....I knew I should've stayed well clear of this but I couldn't help keeping ma fat heid oot

I understand your point about the kids, but this is a social issue, not a football one. You seem like an intelligent chap, so educate your children....sectarianism is a wider issue, it's more prevalent on our streets, schools, workplaces, etc, on a daily basis. Why? Because it comes from the home

You'll never shelter them from it, so educate them

I hate this subject my friend, don't want to fall out over this, it's a highly emotive subject and I'm not mentally equiped to deal with it, lol. You seem like a decent, responsible human being, so fair play to you.....Miko

Agree0 Disagree0

Awww, for f*cks sake Tony??....Miko

What's the Pope's visit got to do with sectarianism pal? Does the Pope offend you? The Pope's visit was held within the arena of a Park where people had the CHOICE to observe.....nuff said....Miko

R@ngers will not parachute into Europa if they lose to Malmo, they'll be completely eliminated from Europe.

Celts supporters do sing sectarian songs, heard it home and away. So do the Shame, only they're more frequent because they don't have any songs, lol. Sectarianism should be highlighted and eradicated, but don't give it too much credence lads.....we certainly shouldn't be arguing amongst ourselves about it. It is a minefield shaunybhoy, thats why im not havin folk tellin me im the problem with my singing especially seen as it is not punishable by anyone other than the happy clappers. FOS Is not as in your face as ROH but has entirely the same undertones. A country fighting back against oppressors, will the nameless one condemn the tartan army for beltin this out? Cant pick and choose who to have the problem with Imo

By learning bout my country i ment historical events not songs of self determination bud. By parenting i ment bein taught right from wrong, i know many irish folk and rebel songs but still know right From wrong, it is possible without bein sheltered as a child. Also, is it not possible that those who take it too far are jus thugs who would use anything as a tool for anarchy? Suppose you dont sing flower of scotland either? Its on the same lines in parts lyrically jamie mac

Believable2 Unbelievable0

To a degree you make a fair point J-Mac, although I wouldn't compare FOS with ROH, there are varying degrees of resentment/anger (for want of a better word) in the lyrics. It's coming down to opinions on what is too offensive/aggressive etc.....and that's a proper minefield eh mate.

I have had the upbringing you condemn- never had a fight over it, have held the same job for 10years and am successful in life. Maybe the problem is parents these days rather than music jamie mac

I'll admit, I'm a rangers fan, but I come in peace, I just want to ask you guys/bring something up..

I see you're calling Ally "The fat Paul LeGuen" but what would be worse.. If he was to win us the league/decent stint in Europe and possibly one of the 2 other cups?

Wouldn't that make you guys look like fuds for branding him that? Cos LeGuen was the s*ittest manager to grace Glasgow.

So basically, are you really confident you're gonna win the league and if you don't you wont have a manager and you'll have been beaten by a "fat Paul LeGuen"

I am genuinely asking a question, not having a go or anything.

For the older members using the site- the songs you are condemnin Would have been sung(In there worst state)by a majority of you when younger, it must have been wrong back then too So stop moral highgrounding, its continuing to get better. You are All part of the problem also
jamie mac

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Wow wow wow jamie i was the one pointing out this yesterday (im the one u said was on a crusade?) I have never sung any IRA song whatsover (i was brought up a prod but im really an aethiest i suppose) i can asure you i have never uttered a song that could even ve considered offensive or in bad taste, as I said i take my son to the games and this is something i dont want him knowing .. not just now anyway at an age were he cant understand it so please dont not refer to me as part of the problem .... folk that sing these songs are ie YOU as u admitted yesterday.

I think there has been a massive over reaction to last nights defeat if i'm honest. There are some fans calling for McCoists head 2 games into his reign I mean that is an absolute joke. Of course last nights defeat should never have happened but look at Strachans start a 5 nil loss to Bratislava and a 4 all draw with Motherwell. Celtic then won the league that year by about 15 points. Edu is a joke shouldnt be wearing a Rangers jersey. I agree with Jamie Mac (for a change lol) we need younger fresher legs in the middle with some creativity because we seriously lack it Davis cant do it all on his own. One slightly positive note from last night regarding the fans. There were about 6 drunk guys sitting a few rows back from me and started to sing the Billy Boys and 3 guys in the row behind me stood up and told them to stop it then the police had a word with them. First time I've seen a bit of self policing at Ibrox it's a step in the right direction. Rant over sorry about that ED lol

Remember fellow Bhoys, an animal ( in this case the bears) is more dangerous when wounded and by god they will be wounded from that debacle last night and we all know when they get their feathers ruffled they can be a pretty hard bunch to get by all's fair in taking the mickey, i would expect the same if it was reversed. But we have to hope we dont slip up in our qualifiers for europa although were in a better place than last year for them. Looking forward to our own next competitive game i think we should get commons out on the left, broony on the right and kayal and Ki in the middle, Ledley looked like a spare part against hibs out on the wing, and theres no way we can drop ki or kayal in the middle for him or broonie Get loovens out completeley how this guy is a pro footballer i will never know hes in the same mould as gary kenneth well at least kenneth can header the ba ll whats happened to rogne ? he had a poor poor game against the gers but hes young and he does look the part would like to see him given another chance he would do well in beside this wilson fellow who i think through pre season and the first game he looked relitavley accomplished. Although still to be properly tested heres hoping therse friendlies give everyone a chance to get back to their best

U being serious drop ledley? ledley should be in the middle of the park next to kayal it showed last season there the best central midfield pairing we have

viewparkbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

After ki plays arguably his best game for the club how can you drop him ? just dont think ledley is much use on the wing at all and feel we need a different option to him out wide hence why i suggested putting commons out there and putting brown on the right but there are so many tactical neuances for out there at celtic with the players we have, i can see why he put ledley out there, to try and release izzy when he got the chance and so we werent left short going back due to sproule being out there, just felt we could have coped with someone else out there. That said, lenny will prob go for kayal and ledley in the middle next time out as they were the best pairing last year like you say, just trying to say i think ki deserves his chance as when he has a good game i feel he can bring more to the side than ledley, albeit ledley is a more steady performer game to game :), so many ways it can be done would just like to see Ki get a real chance to stake a proper claim to the position rather than ledley being an automatic pick.

Hope this makes sense lol i am good at not making any lol

Tony, our co-efficient can still be dragged back up if we both enjoy some decent results in the Europa Lge can't it?

My own opinion is that I'd like to see you's get knocked out and drop in with us, purely financial reasons, in my mind it's defo gonna mean Whytey ain't partin with cash now he's got no windfall on the way......I may be wrong but I can't see it. That in turn gives us a better chance of winning the league if you's don't strengthen the squad. Seems reasonable.

Shaunybhoy {Ed007's Note - Are you sure Rangers go into the Europa League if they don't get past Malmo? I thought it was the losers of the next round of CL qualifiers that drop down.}

i would feel the same as you shaun the only pleasure i get out of celtic getting dumped from europe when we are still in is the fact that we get more tv money

as for qualification to europa league this is what i can find

Losing teams of the 3rd qualifying round enter the 4th qualifying round of the Europa League, while losing teams of the 4th qualifying round enter the group stage of the Europa League, and third-placed teams from the group stage enter the round of 32 in the Europa League.

as we are in the 3rd round it looks as though we could end up in the 4th round of europa

A get what your sayin tony mate, but surely you must have expected two victories? A was bein flippant mate, i know there will be twists and turns and we will see(if We qualify) what effect thursday european games has on us. I just think that rangers could do with some younger legs. Mcculloch and edu cant ever be described as creative leavin it to davis. We tried that with mcgeady under mowbrayNuff said

I expected to pump Malmo and i thought it would be close against hearts not that bloody close tho as for Edu i would rather have Emu in our midfield i am trying to be optomistic but it is proving to be difficult my main concern is last night it was not working but the worrying thing is we had no one on the bench who could change things ppl like Novo etc

Duh-rrant and McMoist are your club legends but they aint fit to manage that club, whereas Lennon has done a magnificent job and is beginning to conduct himself in the manner a Celtic manager should, and he's built a squad that's capable and has the respect of the dressing room.

ff sake m8 we are 2 games into the season and you think we should get rid of McCoist it took lennon a season and a half to win one cup and got booted out of europe at first hurdle and he is a f*cking legend now say this to me at the end of the season and i might agree with you

A think you should be concerned with the warnings your team has recieved on the park in the the last 100 odd hours tony rather than dishin them out. A would never say"we messed up but its ok because so might you" i dont care what rangers do, the league is already in our hands, we only need to equal your points from now in, already Hes just a fat paul le guen, just a fat paul le guen, wee joke

Im not dishing out warnings jamie i am just thinking about some of the post our own fans have posted 4in a row we will pump hearts who are Malmo etc football has a habit of biting you in the ass but its a bit early to say the leagues is in your hands now lol we still got a lot of twists and turns in this league and i think both clubs will have players come and go during this transfer window to the dismay of the fans.

this is not sour Grapes you guys i realise my team(Rangers) are abysmal right now. but i wouldn't crow to loudly it is early days i wouldn't class your display against the team that finished third bottom of the spl awe inspiring (done enough to get the 3 points i agree) Rangers where held to a draw against a much improved hearts and were beaten (well beaten)by the Swedish champions who are half way through their league. i do expect Rangers and Celtic to improve as the weeks go on but in your own managers words the start of the season has come to early. and obviously much to early for us.

Tony

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Swedish champions from last season who half way through this season are mid table and are highly unlikely to finish in the top six in the league this season but then again tony you just cant get enough

I wouldn't be that worried, how $hit hot is Greegsy at the minute? Eff me you's would've got tanked twice if it weren't for him.

some of you can not see the big picture (both rangers and celtic fans) cant you see what this does to the co efficient or are you to pre occupied with just beating each other. i am one rangers fan that wants celtic to do well in Europe every season just not as good as us lol

Morning Ed, sorry mate I know it's Wikipedia but it's the best I could find.

It says 15 teams from 3rd qualifying round of Champs Lge go into Play Off round draw of Europa Lge, along with us, Spurs, Roma and some other decent sides.

Total of 76 teams in Play Off round.

38 qualify for Europa Lge groups plus 10 from last round of Champs Lge qualies.

Got to admit tony a was not especially pleased with your result last night tbh. A dont think whyte has good motives for rangers, a think this is why sally is manager, whyte couldnt get anyone to work under these circumstances And fine well he knows it, however, the players that are there(the mainstays of last year) appear uninterested. Must be worrying
jamie mac

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very worrying Jamie but i dont think whyte is planning anything underhand with rangers i honestly think he is doing what he thinks is best for the club. first and foremost he is a business man not a football man thats why the likes of McGregor, Davis etc have been given long contracts. whytes whole business ethos is to buy cheap then sell on for a profit hence the small bids for Goodwillie etc and lets be honest thats what the old firm has been reduced to selling clubs to the teams that get the Sky millions if any of the top six clubs in England want any player the old firm has these guys will be off at the drop of a hat.

Hey Miko

just read your post over on the Rangers pages did i see a hint of compassion there. you are right there about dark days ahead whyte needs to shoulder some of the blame but the players need to stand up and be counted. this is basically the same team that won the League last season i think that someone needs to tell these guys that the season has started early as i think most of them are still in holiday or pre season friendly mode.

Tony

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Tony, where the fck you been recently? Hiding? No wonder pal, lol.

I may be a bit daft but not completely retarded Tony boy, I'm absolutely aware we need both teams to be competitive. I think your mob should be beating teams like Malmo at home, so why did they get turned over? Fitness? Na, not buying that p*sh, I'll tell you why.

Sally McMoist is not a manager, he's a tv personality, just because Matt Dawson endorses his will to win based on a f*ckin gameshow, doesn't mean he's a manager Then I saw Ian Durrant being interviewed before the game last night and I got the impression that the lights were on but....(you know the rest). That team last night should have beaten Malmo blindfolded

Duh-rrant and McMoist are your club legends but they aint fit to manage that club, whereas Lennon has done a magnificent job and is beginning to conduct himself in the manner a Celtic manager should, and he's built a squad that's capable and has the respect of the dressing room. Lennon's first experience of Europe wasn't great but at least he won his home games, against better opposition may I add. He definitely has something as a manager in my eyes....hope he proves me right

I may be wrong, however the quicker you get rid of Laurel & Hardy the better, they are so out of their depth We need both clubs into the champions league proper every season, that would surely be the ideal scenario, with us progressing to the knockout stages season after season and you lot getting pumped out at the group stages......that would be ideal lol.

The tie can still be turned around, however I have my doubts. Good to see the G@rs get pumped, not so good for the game though Get it up ye....Miko x

Poor night for us, no denying it... I dream of the nights we used to have, Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday, celtic on the Wednesday.

Sadly I can't see them returning any time soon... and it would be nice for the other scottish teams when in Europe to be beating these teams from Poland etc. Our co-efficent needs every point it can get right now.

Hard to believe this country once produced Dalglish, Baxter, Cooper, Johnstone, Greig, McNeill.... will we ever see their likes again?
