I was bored tonight after starting to watch the Man City game I decided to check out the Sevco game. They are so dross I cannot find the words to describe them. The reason though of my post is the tackling of the Motherwell centre half Cedric Kipre. He is definitely going to seriously injure a player by the end of the season. I'm all for players being solid but he is nasty and cynical.

There’s more than just him that’s nasty and cynical! Team full of hatchet men! Some of there challenging is nothing short of a disgrace! I’m all for getting stuck in but what they get away with is a joke!

Carrying on with the festivities here's a wee joke.
Celtic v TRIFC at parkhead and wee Billys off to game. Unawares he strays into a staunch celtic pub for a pint. Barman and the locals notice his blue scarff and surround.

Hey you says the barman we don't allow bluenoses in here, in fact we kill them but seeing it's the festive season I'll give ye a chance. Barman hands Billy a dice and says if you roll a 1 2 3 4 or 5 we do ye in. What happens if I roll a 6 asks Billy? Ye get another shot says the Barman ☘.

Ed, Is there any chance Celtic will recall Ryan Christie from his loan at Aberdeen now that Hayes has been officially ruled out for the rest of the season? That many games coming up squad depth is a must. HH.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I can't see Christie being recalled, Michael, more likely Johnston will cover for Sinclair.}

27 Dec 2017 19:51:11
No bother ed, just thought wee Johnstone looked a bit light for the first team yet so thought Christie would of been an option 👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They seem happy enough to have him on the bench and Christie's better playing than coming back to be cover and sit on the bench.}

27 Dec 2017 20:21:41
Ed the Hamilton game has been called of because of a frozen pitch or so it says on sky's score centre app. Have Hamilton not got a plastic pitch? A thought that was playable in all weather? Have sky got it wrong? A know it's nothing to do wae us but since you've got a soft spot for them a thought u mite know.

27 Dec 2017 21:43:17
Will Mosonda loan be put into practice now Hayes is out? Plus in your opinion Eds will MD be off this window?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've always said I expect Dembele to leave in the 2018 summer window and nothing's happened so far to make me change my mind.}

27 Dec 2017 22:29:22
With the news of Hayes out any up date on Wee Paddy and how his recovery is coming back on?

Wee Mickey looks a top player, but there is no question he hasn't the physicality yet. With Paddy out and now Hayes, who I don't think can cut it anyway, it gives him a chance to toughen up getting blootered about.

I have high hopes for him though. Just needs to increase his core strength to be able to fend off challenges. In the second half he faded and was out muscled at every turn.

The January Transfer window is a pain. I often wonder how many teams (especially with the monopoly money down south) buy players just to weaken the opposition and not to strengthen their own squad?
From a Celtic stance, I get concerned (again, because of the stupid money) that teams in the relegation zone start looking at our players to strengthen their team in the dog-fight.

I don't think Christie is ever going to play a prolonged role for Celtic . It could be argued that loaned once to Aberdeen maybe beneficial to Celtic and Christie . Loaned twice and it's obviously an opportunity to put him into shop window and hope someone buys him.
I am sure D D would look at the bill for coaching and improving footballers at Lennoxtown and wonder why the hell we would send the same player back to Aberdeen to be coached by inferior coaches.

I wouldn't get too excited about the money Celtic are due from the VVD transfer to Liverpool. We have secured £30m+ in Champions League revenue for the last two seasons and invested next to nothing in the playing squad. So the likelihood is the £8-£9m for VVD will head straight to the board of directors as will the transfer fee we receive for Dembele. We simply do not spend money on the team.

I am in no way defending Peter Lawwell, I have been one of his biggest critics over the years, but Celtic are in a situation where we don't need to spend huge amounts to remain dominant in Scotland, but we have nowhere near the funds needed to be a force in Europe.
The fee for Van Dijk just sums up the madness of the English game, a price tag of £75m when he isn't playing as well as when we sold him for £13m, it's bonkers.
If sanity ever returns to the game in England, then I can understand us trying to compete with it, but until then I think we are best trying to improve year on year domestically, and just accept Champions league qualification as about the height of our ambitions.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 21:07:21
I totally agree there's no way we can compete with the 'fools and their money being so easily parted' in these ridiculous times; however we are still managing to attract some very decent players and youngsters with great potential and although we are eons behind the elite of Europe as far as finances and budget go, we are decades ahead of our domestic opponents and have to concentrate on total domination, success within our limits and realistic European goals, until World/ European football regains it's sanity.

The money would be better spent on improving the youth setup, than gambling on some over paid, possibly over rated, signing, actually improving the team.

The bottom line is if we don't strengthen the team then CL quakifucation gets harder to achieve. The board and Lawell in particular, keeps saying every penny will be invested to improve the team.
He says that a lot, I was reading the other day that over the last 10 years Celtic have spent only £9m net.

Now, I know I'm a greetin faced bastard, but that doesn't seem like the kind of approach that makes us a CL team.

We got cuffed three times at home. How can fans be expected to pay top dollar for the privilege of seeing your team defeated at home?

I would suggest that if they aren't willing to spend the money on what they say the money is for then we are just waiting to feck up as we always do when we are on top.

Our goal should be qualification and putting a fight up to be 3rd. We simply need to bring in a couple of quality players or the CL money is gone. All the teams we face early doors are getting better. If we sit on that cash then we are fecked.

I have zero faith that Lawell will sanction this. let's hope he proves me wrong. £9m over ten years suggests I would be the bookies fav to predict what we will do.

This window will tell us everything we need to know about our boards definition of ambition. Hopefully Brendan will force the issue, because if he can't see what is required then Thor help us. Each and everyone

Over to you Peter. Surprise us.

Has VVD improved 5 fold since he left us to deserve £75M transfer fee. I hate the English market so inflated and overrated.

Virgil on way 75m even Pedrinho is going to find it tough to squirrel away all this money.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Dec 2017 17:58:51
Reports online say Celtic are due 15% of any Virgil transfer fee and if he is sold for £70m our cut will be over £8m, do you know how true these reports are?

I'm sure it's 10% of profit . So we sold for 13 mill? So 62 mill profit = so 6.2 mill to us?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 18:32:25
Apparently it's 10% of the profit made so £75m less the fee they paid us. around £6m ish.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 18:36:47
if it is £75m with a 15% sell on clause, we will get £10.5m
if we get all that money to buy new players, we can get 35 Lubo's or 16 Henriks.
on the other hand though, it could get us 5 bangura's and a cifti.

27 Dec 2017 18:39:23
thought it was 10%? Either way it will be a nice wee windfall for us. Let's hope the board pump it in to the team and not the hotel complex which is already budgeted and funded.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 21:11:52
It will be 10% and half of that goes to his agent. The remaining cash goes to the 35 million owed to the co-op.

Seen Liverpool have aledgedy had a word record 75 mill bid accepted for vvd? Could that be the bidding started?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Dec 2017 17:56:05
If they have had it accepted then no one going to up the bid. They will all match it then try out bid each other in wages.

Bobby Madden to referee our game against Sevco. No doubt, another stone wall penalty we won't get.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Dec 2017 15:49:21
And a rather dubious one they'll get I suspect.

27 Dec 2017 16:57:07
It was a certainty that hun would get this game - just like last season when they were in total disarray and crumbling - so he cheated them into a point. Mind you, I am thinking more about what the orcs will do to the toilets and seating, trying to downgrade our stadium to their own social standards.
