Interesting to see if the new guy gives all the squad a chance to impress deciding on who can go.

Second chance for scepovic anyone?

I honestly can't see the likes of moyes, Rodgers, MON being interested just purely because the league is so poor. Rodgers would be my pick.

I think we are in the pond of Lennon, Mackay, Clarke and probably Keane given his lack of success in management in England. The only one of the above I would welcome would be Clarke and even then doubts.

Hope the new guy is inspiring and exciting I just can't see it.

Rodgers would be the absolutely last one i would like to see at parkhead.

Totally agree mate. i honestly don't think we've got any chance of a moyes or Rodgers! Far to many things against us to tempt them. and I really don't think MON would come back either. so the list you've said will probably be about right, and if I'm honest none of them inspire me really. i think it will be between Lennon Mackay and Clarke and none of them exactly capture the imagination do they? But as a previous poster has said. the new man has to be brought in ASAP! And I'd like to think theyr sounding people out right now. we cannot afford to hang about til the end of June for someone to come in! It must be done sharpish.

Out of the likeliest candidates you mentioned I'd probably take Clarke.

Gut feeling it will be Pearson. don't know much about to be honest, but if it is him hopefully he won't be another whipping boy.

Only doubts about Rodgers was he built a squad that narrowly lost the title then lost Suarez, Gerrard and Carragher and couldn't replace them with all the millions spent. He will have to get used to the best players leaving/ sold at Celtic and try replacing them with half the money they was sold for.

Hi all IMO if the board have not announced who is to become the new manager by at the latest end of May it would be scandalous and show that the board don't have any ambition for our great club We need this sorted out ASAP we have Qualifiers to go through for CL so he has to come in Quick to sort out what HE NEEDS and who in his opinion has to go if its July its FAR FAR to late June I am sure the team will be back for the new season so it has to be done NOW.

It's still April tony so there is plenty of time as they might have to wait till the season is over as their preferred choice might be employed just now. The only down side on waiting for a manager to be appointed is season ticket renewal which will be coming soon. Everyone has to make up their own mind what to do but I don't see me renewing till I see who is appointed and what direction the club want to head.

Mensah just went to Russia in Feb. . why not one of our own youngsters instead of mcnair who is untried untested . isn't he also a cb? same with ward give fasan a chance.

Why would you want Mulgrew and Commons about the place.

27 Apr 2016 18:58:53
Or Brown.

Agree5 Disagree1

28 Apr 2016 07:10:52
Sorry to hear about Mensah went for £375.000 a steal. Brown is working very hard with the youngsters or don't you like to hear that. What experience did John Kennedy bring to the defence as coach Mulgrew has a lot more european and international knowledge, Commons too has a great deal of guile and knowledge to pass on. They are coming to the end of there careers could play if required and work towards their coaching badges. If they are so sure that RDs methods were wrong this would be there chance to show a better way.

Yes Brown has give up a lot of his time to help out with the youngsters, for some reason their seems to be a very anti Brown storm around . Can a player not have a temporary dip in form after 8/ 9 years with the club?

Director of Football - M O'Neill.

Manager - R Keane.

Coach - S Clarke.

Youth Development - B McClair

Thoughts on this team? Plenty experience. Roy his own man but guys here he could turn to for advice if needed, Working with O'Neill at the moment and knows McClair from his United days. I don't know much about Clarke but i'm led to believe he is a great coach. Would not be cheap but surely the guy that thinks he owns us can part with some of his change.

The ultimate dream team right there stan19. Now that would get most fans excited. But alas. we can dream.

Why bring in mclair Tommy mcintyre is doing a great job not his fault first team won't give our own youth a chance. agree with clarke ut he sees himself as a manager now I don't think Keane has the temperament to be a manager . we all (mostly) want our managers to have full say so why director of football. my personal opinion is oneill used his wife's Illness as a way out of celtic without tarnishing his reputation with the fans.

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Apr 2016 12:51:41
Both o'neill and Keane have duties up until 3 days before our CLQ. Our development squad seem to be doing ok at the moment plus any manager that comes in should be picking his own backroad staff. On top of this the money they'd want for players would be ridiculous (that's a guess) . The wages for them would be very high also. I'm all for the board splashing some cash but we need to be realistic about it too.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 13:09:56
Hearing Lawell is going to open his purse this summer and give our new manager cash to spend. well that will depend on what we get for Biton, Then divide that mumber by 8.

27 Apr 2016 13:20:16
There's 2 chances of that Stan!
There more chance of David Murray getting
a verucca than there is of our board paying out
that sort of money for a management team, then
there's the transfer kitty, not keen on Roy Keane
anyway .

Agree3 Disagree1

27 Apr 2016 14:02:35
That would be ideal, however, I think Keane and Clarke would see themselves as managers in their own right and McClair is to Man Utd what Dalglish is to Liverpool - ex-Celt converts.
I really do hope DD and PL 'get the message' and go all out for the best management team available as we all need a lift and the players need a jolt; to determine who will shape-up or ship-out.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 14:57:39
Why would Lawwell appoint a DoF when he already does the job himself?

My dream team would be:

Manager - Mikel Laudrup

Assistant - Roy Aitken

Head of Youth - Ronny Deila

Obviously there is no chance of this happening but I think this would be a great setup.

27 Apr 2016 15:10:59
Great idea Stan if your idea is to get rid of PL by having a heart attack paying those wages, let alone any transfer budget. lol.

If we are going to appoint a person as Director of Football, may I suggest that we appoint someone who actually likes going to matches, as he would be over and responsible for player purchase . WGS would be an excellent D o F.

Strachan had a terrible record in the transfer market and would not want him anywhere near Celtic ever again.

McClair hasn't long took the Performance directors job for SFA can't see him leaving that already. Clarke wants the managers job no way he will settle for Coach. A lot of people would disagree but I wouldn't mind Sutton as an assistant. He was good up front and in defence for us and wouldn't hold back in saying the football played was "bang average dross" He will make sure no one is slacking.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Why Sutton, what has he ever done in management or coaching to warrant even being considered. He managed Lincoln City for 50 games and won 14 - that's not even a third, he drew 13 and lost 23.
There is a reason Sutton has sold his soul to the SMS, he needs money and will say anything to keep his name relevant and keep the pay cheques coming in.
Sutton and Hartson should be banned from Celtic Park, you do all know what the articles are written for them and just their names are added, do they care what is written or do all the bankrupts care bout is the the cheques keep coming in?
Remember Hartson wanted CFC supporters to be reported to their employees and sacked for the Dundee Riot that never happened yet he witnessed it even though he wasn't even at the game? Maybe if he he hadn't been a lazy waster all his career he might not need to whore himself out to scrape a living from The S*n, a newspaper that has now been found guilty of lying about the tragic events of Hillsbrough - you must be so proud of that association, Hartson, your morals obviously go out the window when there's a sheckle to be earned. Not all snakes will look you in the eye before they attack.}

28 Apr 2016 18:56:33
Same with Kennedy though his career was over before it started and was only a promising defender not enough experience yet he is in the dugout think Sutton has more credibility than Kennedy. I didn't know that about Hartson wouldn't want him near the team as you say lazy waster haha.

Stan petrov I'll believe in you 36 and just a second of your fitness test since you last played fair play mate hope you find somewhere your more than welcome to our squad.

27 Apr 2016 16:47:55
No thanks for me . I hope he keeps healthy and wish him no harm . but he's just another long line of ex players who when gainfully employed elsewhere never bothered with us but now with no job their here all the time touting themselves.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 18:06:37
Wee bit harsh on Stan mate, he's never got a bad word to say about celtic. Anytime I've heard him he always talks us and villa up. The only reason he said he's giving villa first nod is because of the support they've shown him, u can hardly argue with that. Whether he could handle football at a high level only time will tell, but if he can get back to anywhere near the level he was when he left us then he'll be twice the player of any one of our midfielders.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 18:53:06
A wee bit harsh, he signed a new contract with us 6 moths or so before leaving resulting in us getting a good few millions for him.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Apr 2016 19:21:06
So give him a contract because he doesn't talk bad about us and he got us money because he wanted to leave us .

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2016 19:50:34
Didn't say give him a contract did a? Think a said time will tell if he gets back to close to the level he was when he left he'd be twice the player any of our midfielders are. Time will tell if he makes it back, good luck to him and if he proves himself he might be back for a cameo, he's hardly going to play for long now, maybe 1 or 2 seasons at best n he's going to do pre season with villa so if he's good enough he'll sign for them.
