Channel 4 news tonight.anyone see it?ally demanded to know who the people were that spoke out against the then rangers?why?so an intimidation and threat campaign could be launched against them by "ahem"supporters from northern ireland, even going so far as threatening to torch raith rovers stadium as repercussion.sfa declined to comment.no surprise there then.nobody likes them, they dont care?no bloody wonder.artybhoy

Did the terrorism work? The tribunal were, we now know, terrified. They then delivered an unlawful and surprisingly weak penalty.against Rangers which was overruled in the High Court. However, Rangers accepted it.

Agree2 Disagree3

I can remember when mccoist came out with this nonsense and being dumbfounded as to why more questions were not asked of him. If he was so perturbed by this why did he not know who was IN THE MEETING representing oldco and ask them? The only logical and sane answer is he wanted names in the public domain to be intimated.Or he was so far out of the loop at this time that he did not know, which then leads to the question why was he brought into the loop? The reason as we all know was to sell season tickets, but the question is did ally have a change of heart regarding green or did his share issue help change his mind? which leads me to question two;Was mccoist given the shares by green or did he pay for them? Again a question never asked but very pertinent to The rangers fans looking to invest who seem to hang on mccoists every word.............. green jhedi

Agree4 Disagree1

It has been some time. The guys must now have been collared. With the QC bravely going public, special branch must have advised its ok.

Agree2 Disagree0

He did it and it worked. McCoist knows the whole Rangers bully boy intimidation approach. He knew exactly what he was doing and why there wasn't a criminal investigation against him beggars belief. He calculatingly risked three men and their families lives and the SFA gave him a suspended sentence wrist slap.
What a dark dark land we live in.

Agree5 Disagree1

Sadly these bigots are rife in this country.
Not only at base level, but infesting all walks of life including decision makers with power and influence over us all.
McCoist is now transparently obvious and far removed from the 'cheeky chappie' who chirped away on QOS as if butter........
There was much sabre rattling about tackling sectarianism in this country not long ago. But we all know it is in-bred and here to stay in some shape or form.

Hi ed, a rant and and an idea.
Schuster lol read this, as much as i luv watchin barca the reality is if Celtic
were over £500 million in debt we might be able to afford the players to take on barca at their own game.
But unlike barca we run our club properly and within our means (fair play rules to come lol). Any of our journalists shud be asking him that question see what he says.
Re Wanyama, i appreciate agents have a role to play, why o why are these
people allowed to behave the way they do?
Why not totally regulate them and have them EMPLOYED? by the F.A. of their own country. That way they play by the rules and in the BEST interests of their client. The result is no dodgy deals, no turning heads, and more important the money stays in football instead of lining their pockets for doing very little, obviously they wud get a % of the deal but not the extravagant money they get the now and money cud be used for
grass roots and facilities, cos lets not kid ourslelves the money is astronomical.
Or am i just livin in cloud cukoo land lol
Rayman {Ed007's Note -You are not in cloud cuckoo land at all Rayman. The reason that Eden Hazard signed for Chelsea and not Man Utd was basically down to Man Utd (Man City had already refused) refusing to pay the £6 million agent's fees. That is £6 million lost out of the game, and went in an agent's pocket for brokering ONE single deal. Agents are slime, even the one's that I know or have had the displeasure of meeting. Not one of them bothers about anything except making money through their client.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

It's about time that players paid the agent his fee. They employ them,so why should a club be liable for an agents bill? Clubs should get together and refuse to do business this way,i am pretty sure the agents would be dropped in an instant if the players could not get their big moves................ green jhedi

Agree4 Disagree1

Cheers ed knowledgeable as usuall mate.
6 mill for 1 deal lol thats totally scandalous.Think what money like that cud do for grass roots level with facillities etc.Its time somethin was done about these people.

Hi Folks
I dont understand all this backslapping over the barca result after all it was totally humiliating being outplayed to that extent, even when we actually got the ball we didn't have the players who could actually bring it under control and string half a dozen passes together. I agree it was an excellent defensive display but as a celtic man thats not what I want to see. I really want to see a celtic who can compete with the best playing the celtic way.
Hail, Hail {Ed007's Note - Not many teams can outplay Barca and anyone that does usually ends up on the end of a hiding. Every team that plays against Barca changes tactics, that is why they won nothing last season. You should maybe try watching football outside of Scotland it can be quite interesting when you see how other teams set themselves out and play. Italian football is a prime example, it is one of the most boring leagues to watch and has been for years, even in the 60's they used a system called 'Cattenaccio', an ultra defensive style of play, designed to grind out 1-0 wins, this was applauded as the best style of football, then we moved onto the Ajax led 70's style of Total Football where the seeds of Barca's style of play today known as tiki-taka were planted. All through the years the game has evolved, in matches against better teams and better quality players, the manager has to alter his tactics accordingly. There are a lot of teams, 'bigger' than CFC would have been delighted to come away from the Nou Camp with a performance and scoreline like CFC did. It is results that win things, not how many passes you can string together or how many throw ins you win, at the end of the night CFC were seconds away from leaving Barca with a point. If you are not happy with that then maybe you should follow Man City or whoever is spending the most money these days. Denmark and Greece have won European Championships, were they the best teams there or were they better organised to play to their own strengths?}

Believable4 Unbelievable5

The reason for the "backslapping" was the display of the players. The youngest squad in the CL,lost our out ball early(Sammi),And defended like lions with an amazing display from our keeper. The point your missing is the level of concentration needed to produce a display like that.To constantly mark space and the closest man is extremely tiring and we stood up well.Lenny also deserves a load of credit for the set up of the team, very shrewd pushing them wide and disrupting their game............ green jhedi

Agree7 Disagree1

Green Jhedi, as a Rangers fan I must agree with your comments. All this nonsense getting banded around about backs to the wall and defensive minded is just that - nonsense. Most teams in world football would either be forced to do the same or suffer a hammering. Celtic did great and it must have hurt to come so close, but the experience and the confidence your team gained from the Europa games of last season will now be multiplied tenfold. I know we have our differences but credit where credit's due. Celtic fans and the players have nothing to lose in the next game and shouldn't change the tactics deployed in the Nou Camp....................Blue Wookie

Agree3 Disagree0

Facts are facts. We broke away over half a dozen times and with a better final ball we would have had a goalscoring opertunity. Three times we had 3 on 3 situations. We missed a pint blank header to go in the lead a SECOND time. These are facts! The bull**** about backs to the wall for 90 minutes in a nonsense. I have seem la liga teams play far more negatively at the nou camp. They could have had 6 or 7 but we could have had 3. They are a far superior team than almost all of la liga never mind Celtic. All facts. The ****e talk has to stop.

Agree1 Disagree1

@Blue Wookie; Well said Wookie. I would never slag off any team for defending against what is clearly a better, and maybe a world class, team.I think the reason Smith got stick for anti football was the one up at home he favoured.I remember rangers doing a number on Man Utd a few years ago with an excellent disciplined defensive display........ green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

Op You really need to get in the real world mate, thank God your not the Celtic manager.Yes Barca were far superior to us in every way but you have got to look at the difference's, A. the league they play in.B the money they have spent. C the midfield they have. I for one was very proud and impressed with the way we sucked up all the pressure and had them worried until the last minute of extra time.Don't hit me with what about the Lisbon Lion's,hero's every one but we live in different time's.GAWN THE HOOPS.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let me make it clear I was not slating the team for their performance in barcelona I was just expressing my belief that we should be aiming to emulate Barcelona and I know it will take time if at all possible to attain this level of excellence. As I said in my original post it was an excellent defensive display, so the players can take pride in that.

Agree1 Disagree0

@6 Think you need to read your original op mate.

Shoot me down in flames here if you must, but is noone else sick of the constant gers/newco saga, I know we all like to take the piss but its gone on way too long with no clear end in sight. I'm both bored and saddened by it - the ordinary bears (not the bam bigots) don't deserve this, remember how we felt before the bunnet got a grip - alright we got it in the neck the sure but not to this degree. It's constant and poisonous. I will say it openly, I want the gers back - thru the ranks sure. Sadly I'm beginning to think it is the end for them - chicos a farce and if CW has any more tapes they will be tied up in court for years with no investment. The suits and greed have killed rangers and to the everyday fan , our workmates and drinking buddies! I for one sympathise.HH joe {Ed007's Note - Really Joe? It's boring to go over the same old rubbish everyday and the attendance stuff is the kind of arguing 5 yr olds do but I still burst into fits of laughter when I think about it all. A couple of people, including my GP, have told me to prepare for it to continue for a while yet.}

Joe the reason we keep going on about all the Sevco stuff (apart from laughing at them as our ED007 says) will be brought home tonight by Alex Thomson on Channel 4 news 7.00pm
In it one of the QC's Gary Allen talks about the threats he received and says there is a "criminal underclass" among a small percentage of Rangers fans. Mr Allen also asks about McCoists role in all this and clearly states that in his opinion, Ally McCoist was playing to this small but effective rogues gallery.
Chanel 4 also asks why these elements seem to have found a home at Ibrox with little criticism from within the marble staircase.
Alex Thomson although filming in Glasgow had to use English people to do this report. He asks the pertinent question about the "Glasgow press clan or cabal" that simply do not publish any kind of negative stories about Rangers and actively try and stop other people doing so as well.
Some brave people are now speaking out and for the sake of good old fashioned honest journalism we should thank them. Timalloy

Joe i am both bored and saddened as well, and no, the decent bears dont deserve it, constant and poisonous , is it any worse than sending a hearse to parkhead. joe if just ONE , JUST ONE , said sorry and showed a little bit of remorse or humility . i'd agree with you , but they still sing , they still try to be best by claiming record crowds while giving away tickets . so when just one rangers man says sorry , we were wrong i will jump on your bandwagon , but until that day , i will continue to get it right up them.. shamrock

Have to agree ed. I was in the car with the old man (a lapsed East fife supporter and armchair Man Utd fan). We were listening to the Scores come. He asked me if East Fife were in the same league as Rangers. No, I replied East Fife are in the League above.

Now tell me that isn't funny. I think I had to get the car valeted.

I would be interested to know Bernd Schuster's opinion on clubs competing in the CL with debt levels at $578m

We have lived within our means for nearly 20 years & probably before that compared to other clubs. We have an excellent policy of developing our own youth and have been invited into the prestigious Next Gen competition.

Do not compare us to Chelsea and next time whilst we welcome an opinion, think it through.

Mrs E

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Mrs E, Green Jhedi did you see the piece by jabba in today's wreckord? As usual jabba put spin on it that Schuster was referring to only Celtic.
Then another article on Green's champions league "dream" despicable reporting from a despicable man, but our Alex Thomson has a few words on msm on TV tonight. Timalloy

Agree3 Disagree0

Celtic have bank debt which they could clear through player sales, Barcelona are no different. What is Messi's transfer value? Iniesta? Barca could clear their debt but they don't need to because it is 'within their means'. {Ed007's Note - Don't be so stupid. Spain as a country is close to financial ruin and their football clubs are in the same boat. In April this year football finance experts reported that although the club only made a loss of 9.3m last year the total club debt is 578.1m, and perhaps even more worryingly, Barcelona are projected to struggle to pay back loans and service debts. They are in an enviable situation where banks almost take pride in lending them money and the 155m loan they took out last year to cover running costs has not yet been repaid. Financial Fair Play Regs anyone?}

Agree0 Disagree1

VHSS..you said down a bit it was more to do with the 'state of Scottish football', Celtic are well aware of the state of Scottish football and have been for a long while. We have been ridiculed by your former club and its supporters over our spending policy, how did that pan out for you ?

The very first impressive Celtic defensive display Celtic (which lets face it they are not exactly known for) have against what could be one of the best teams the world has ever seen and out you come trying to ridicule..yet again. Mrs E

Agree3 Disagree1

Mrs E.. I've never questioned Celtic's spending policy so I don't know where you drummed that one up . I didn't ridicule your club either. What I did do was question the merits of celebrating a loss and the tactics employed. No, Celtic are not the first Scottish club to revert to those tactics and yes, my club, the one formerly known as Rangers FC used the same tactics throughout the UEFA run. I wasn't happy about that either and stated so. No Mrs E... this isn't about how much money either of our clubs spend or spent. It's about an attitude within Scottish fitba that so often fails to believe it itself.

Agree0 Disagree0

What is really annoying me is this wasn't tactics employed..

Since when did Sammy, Commons, Forrest & Hooper become defenders never mind defenders against the likes of Messi, Iniesta & Xavi.

You're rant down a bit goes on about anti-football. Celtic don't play this style and you seem to have waited about for 4/5 years to see Celtic pinned back like that after Messi's comments about your old team.

We scored against Barca away from home...you did not ! and employed these 'anti football' tactics throughout the whole CL & UEFA campaign of season 07/08. Mrs E

Agree2 Disagree1

Mrs E.. We may not alway's agree but for the most part, I've alway's had a certain amount of respect for your opinions. Sadly, you've gone to great lengths here to twist mine to fit an ajenda that I'm still at a loss to understand. I can only conclude, that you do not wish to have a conversation or debate with me or anyone who may disagree with you.I will honour your wish VHSS

Bernd Schuster should shut his mouth. He said teams like celtic should not be allowed in the champions league and celtic do not merit their place in the competition if they are going to play defensive. These Celtic players have worked just as hard in their careers to be were they are and for some big mouth ex barca player to say they should be kicked out is unacceptable. How else do you expect celtic to aproach a game against the best team EVER. Go out attacking and get beat 8-1? it doesnt work like that.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Schuster is talking out his @rs£. Since it is the "champions" league Celtic have every right to be there and its Barca who shouldn't be in it!

It would be one thing if Celtic had gone out to kick Barca off the park then I could maybe see his point but Celtic didn't pick up a single booking in a very good defensive performance.

I do hate listening to idiots like this that think every team should play open attacking football regardless of opposition. If there were no tactics in football it would be a very boring game.

Great defensive performances are just as difficult as great attacking performances. The stamina and concentration required are phenomenal.

Mac

Agree7 Disagree0

He was having a go at Chelsea and has said 'its regrettable that they have become European Champions'

Celtic are not going to play in this style against anyone else, that's the difference. If we are all honest, possession of the ball was not with us to play in any other way.

Recently Celtic have not been known for their defenders/defence and I honestly think more folk were shocked than anything else that they were able to do it so well at this level.

We had a few forwards on the park and the team was not that much different for our usual starting line-up.

Its his opinion and that's what football is all about.

Bracelona really should have a plan B anyway lol, what if they face Chelsea again..are they willing to go out again ?
