I just watched the highlights there and I hate to criticise my team,but that defence is shocking lads! We've had about 4 years(possibly 6 or7) to sort this defence and have went went through about 20 centre backs and the manky mob always seem to get good defenders why can't we?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Izaguirre - good defender (IMO better at the back than given credit for - his intelligence and composure is an asset to the team in relieving pressure at the back and he's stronger than he looks).

The Wilson's - good defenders.

Rogne - written off after a poor game against Rangers despite the fact he was carrying an injury. IMO we've still to really give this guy a proper go at CB and can't remember him otherwise ever being that bad in his games last season.

Majstorovic - last season I think we missed him whenever he was out. Been a shambles this season but he was always going to be one on the decline and for me was signed as a short-term measure but also in the hopes that he'd be an experienced Davie Weir type but it's clear he lacks the footballing intelligence.

Mulgrew - has his flaws but always gives 100%. Problem he has is that he keeps getting moved around as a result of tactics/injuries and being a defender picks up suspensions.

The point I'm trying to make is that IMO the problem cannot only be ascribed to the personnel but also in forming a cohesive unit. We've been very unlucky with injuries at the back in recent seasons. Izaguirre is a massive blow. Rogne is injury prone and as a result always seems to spend months on the sidelines. We're now missing Wilson. Mulgrew never seems to just be put in one place. He's usually stuck at LB or CB but also put in midfield which isn't going to allow him to form a understanding with Wilson.

I just wish we'd go with:

RB Wilson CB Izaguirre

when they're all fit. RB could be Wilson, Cha or Matthews as for me they're a good mix of RBs to have - Wilson defensively, Cha for his pace and Matthews seems a good prospect and an average of the two speed and defence wise and changing here doesn't seem to affect the team performances too much.

CB could either be Mulgrew, Rogne to see what he can do over the course of a few games or - and it's seemingly wishful thinking - someone new brought in.

Ideally in summer we'd have been left with Wilson, Mulgrew, Rogne and Majstorovic picking up wages that can play CB meaning we'd be able to and as a priority would need to bring another one in but with so many unable to be shipped we had no choice but to stick with what we had.

I think the CB problem must be solved as an absolute priority next season and we'll be forced into doing so. Major was only on a 2 year contract and I can't see it being renewed, Loovens may be in his final year (and either way the number likely to leave would mean we'd be forced to bring someone in) and the loanees (possibly bar the youngster Thompson) it's pretty clear don't have a future here. The only reason I don't think we brought another CB in was that there were so many that needed to be shipped out. Disappointing, but money's the priority these days.

Rangers needed CBs as their squad was thin as it was and they lost their two mainstays. Since they've signed Goian and Bocanegra they've played near every game. I agree they've a nack for finding CBs but they also tend to pick two and stick with them which is what we don't and/or have been unable to do.

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with the above post, I think a big reason our CB are finding difficulties is that the full backs are not tracking back as well as they should be, also the FB's are not getting a run of games either. The CB's are getting pulled wide leaving big gaps in the middle. Last season Izzy and Wilson were 2 of our best players and were a big reason our defence was so good, but this season they have been changed for practically every game, I still think we need to find a settled pairing in the middle but our FB's need to start doing their job properly.

Said it before but the the defence should be Mathews, Marc Wilson, Mulgrew and Issi.

Lol had a look at the rangers pages earlier seriously LOL material...

Naesmith 10 - 15 million not a penny less
Jellyfish 10 million + he will go to a top 4 EPL team (that one was a while ago)

Seriously are some of these fans on crack ? Lol

Come on you bhoys in green!
Lenny.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Actually Naisy has been the stand out player in the SPL this year quite comfortably i may add .... the closest celtic have come is prob Ki (well when he aint involved in a tough game!) and if he is banded about with so called 10m figure on his head (by the celtic support he has did lenny not say he was valued at this too?) then Naisy is at least a 10m player every day of the week as he is more attacking (tend to go for more) can play more positions and has played far better over the last 2 seasons.

In regards to jelly if gers can knock back 6.5-7m from a championship side they should be looking for at least 10m from a top four side (i dont think he is good enough for top 4 but premiership easily).

Think before you type

Jelavic will go for 6million in January. He want to go, he's made that clear. He was the one talking to the papers saying Man Utd were coming for him. He has stated his intent that he wants to leave and I for one would love to see him go.

Ref take a trip to ibrox and hear the best fans in the world entertain you. Mr Bill99 can I say this our
editor mentioned young James McCarthy, your "best fans" practically drove hime away with your bilious singing of the famine song to him because he chose Republic of Ireland over Scotland, backed up by shocking scottish pressmen like Traynor who described this song as "banter" even though it is illegal. Bill99 bear in mind young James was only 17 a young teenager when your "best fans" targeted him.

I see your post re charities was removed from the rangers banter site.
Time for you to join the 21st century, grow up and stop trying to score points

Agree3 Disagree3

I think the money drove him away. Has Celtic fans not went over the top with fRangers players? Alan McGregor, Mo Johnston, nacho novo. Stop stooping so low cfc 1967. What you posted on the Rangers page was sick. I'm glad our Ed deleted the whole post. Any fan of the old firm that targets any player or manager because of religion or team they play for should get their baws cut off. You should aswell for what you posted.

Agree1 Disagree3

Can you not just say Rangers? It must have took quite a long time to look up the spelling of "Protestants" club lol. Eds on the Gers page are not all up to scratch with the west of Scotland thing if they were they wouldn't have posted it. We were took a back from the post. It was below the belt as they say. We don't mind banter but when it gets to that stage well all I can say is WEARETHEPEOPLE. Sorry Ed only kidding lmao

Still reply after reply about our defence. Let me spell it out, its the G O A L I E. He is where the defence take its confidence from. As i said the other day. Rangers can buy anyone to play centre half and they get away with it because they have a keeper 10 times better than ours. Even Weir can breeze through games with Mcgregor behind him. Lets get Gordon in. Just as good a keeper if no better. Then the best attacking team will win the league. That being Celtic.
Ps. If i had to pick, id play Rogne and Wilson. Try and build a partnership. One poor game from Rogne against Rangers in the league cup final and he gets left out. I would rather remember Ibrox last New year where he was brilliant .

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Agreed..but lenny cant see it..lets face it untill we sort this out..were never gona catch them..i fear this seasons gona pass us bye...

Agree6 Disagree1

I'd say judging by last weeks game Rangers look the best attacking team imo. I have to say but, we are usually quite lucky when it comes to centre halfs. Whenever we take a punt on a defender he usually comes good.

Agree1 Disagree3

No your wrong it is the defense the keeper gets confidence from

Agree0 Disagree3

You're both wrong, defence and keeper should be a mutually reinforcing relationship.

The keeper should be able to rely on his defenders to clear any trouble and not put him in bother by laying on stupid passes or getting turned inside out by a guy half as quick. We see both of these too often. I'd hazard a guess that no keeper in the SPL recieves so many passes as ours but at the moment I'd say we lay back at least one really dodgy pass per game.

Defenders mainly need to rely on their keeper at set-pieces and crosses but during open play they need to know how often the guy will rush out and expected position at any one time. Keepers should know when and if they should come for the ball and totally remove any pressure on the defence. IMO Forster has pretty good positioning and is reasonably good in one-one ones and stopping shots. I just think he could do more from set-pieces and crosses to take the pressure off the CBs. His kicking is erratic as well, but sometimes it's not his fault as one of the defenders plays a moronic pass back.

As for your point Gordon would be a quality signing I agree, but I'm more concerned with our CBs as Forster is still learning the game and can't really be blamed for Rangers'/Atletico's goals. Wilson looks the part albeit was poor against Rangers but he could do with a reliable partner. Maybe Rogne could be the answer, but I'd sooner go for an experienced CB and Rogne is very injury prone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why they never tried to get Shay Given...I don't know. Surely £3.5m would have been cash well spent ?! {Ed007's Note - He took a 25k a week drop in wages to sign for AV, he is currently on 55k a week.}

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Take a wee trip to Ibrox and you will hear a better atmosphere their. The BLUEORDER are 100 times better and louder than the green brigade. I see on one of the clips you are copying the Rangers Supporters. Saying that that's nothing new to the Celtic fans. You can't make up your own stuff can you? (Poznan, ynwa, grand old team) just to name a few. They are many more. Come along to Ibrox and see the best fans in the WORLD perform for you. If you think the green brigade are good well you better get out a bit more lmao.
Bill99 {Ed007's Note - LMAO Brilliant Bill, that cheered me up no end on a miserable Sunday.}

This is a wind up right? Any time I watch or listen to a game at Ibrox it's like a graveyard.

Agree0 Disagree2

Well, when your team walks the league year after year, things get boring. Hence graveyard theme. Tell yourselves you ARE the best, if it makes you feel better. Your team will always be 2nd best though. {Ed007's Note - A true Rangers fan, admitting the atmosphere at games is like a graveyard and a football fan that is bored of winning, I bet you are glad to have been put out of 3 cup competitions before September weekend, think of all those boring games you won't have to watch in silence now!!..........also SEEMS to have CAUGHT the epidemic of PUTTING capital letters in a sentence FOR no apparent REASON. All in all another VERY STRANGE individual.}

Agree0 Disagree2

Ha ha bear is answering his own posts as no one can be bothered to answer this dribble, anyway the Thai Tims love our Green Brigade and vice versa CFC 1967 {Ed007's Note - Not to mention Soccer Am love the Thai Tims.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Well I'm glad we stick to our own football song the team comes onto the pitch instead of an American woman singing a pop song ! Its always has & always will be a Grand Old Team...

Agree0 Disagree3

You are answering to it cfc 1967 lmao. What is that song youse sing? Oh that's right (The Saturday's just not good enough) is that not a tinnie boppers song? On the YouTube clips it shows about 500 green brigade singing and the rest of the fans are watching them lol. It must be a new thing for your fans to see and hear them singing lol. Plus it looks like the Celtic fans are turning their backs on the team. Lucky if they were 40 thousand their lol. As I said before come along to Ibrox and us bears will show you how to make an atmosphere you can join in if you want lol.

Bill99 {Ed007's Note - But the atmosphere is poisonous Billy, we prefer a party atmosphere......}

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad you said 3 cups ed, a lot of bears can only count to 3.

Agree0 Disagree0

Blue Order number 1 lol . how can that be they only sing when you score. when things are bad there is no sound.
Green brigade sing all match no matter the score.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I thought it was poisonous I wouldn't buy season tickets for my 7 & 5th old. All the songs that get sung at Ibrox now are for all ages to join in. Last weeks old firm game showed everyone that. You should go to a game at Ibrox Ed and you will see for yourself lol.
In Ally We Trust.
Bill99 {Ed007's Note - I have.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Blueorder sing no matter what the score is. Do you go to many Rangers games to think the Blueorder only sing when winning? I take it the green brigade don't go to away games then? Never heard them at last weeks game. Lol
Bill99

Agree1 Disagree0

Ha ha bil99 6 of above posts are yours, all you are doing is arguing with yourself, typical bear will argue with anyone, and our ed is right, Ipox has a poisonous atmosphere and your "friendly" songs are banned all over europe CFC 1967

Just 3 things bill.
1- Your grammer is appalling.
2- Lucky if there was 40,000 there (or their) as you put it. Yesterdays attendance was 47,382.

That was the post I was referring to. It was only a bit of banter Ed was having a boring day till I posted it. His words not mine. Then I start getting picked on by a sado that goes by the name cfc 1967 and get pulled up by a typing mistake by ben bhoy 1916. Come on guys lighten up it's banter. Did you'd not get the leg over last night? Lmao
Ps some of your posters Ed have crap names lol.
Bill99 {Ed007's Note - It's like 99% of Rangers fans seem to have WATP as a surname. School must have been interesting at the register!

Teacher: WATP?

Class: F*****g right we ur sur!!

Agree0 Disagree0

That I have Paddy. Gotta love Italian food.
Ben Bhoy 1916

Agree0 Disagree0

It's just the same with Celtic fans (bhoys) can they not just have their real name with a number? Just like me. My name is Bill and the number I use is 99 cause that's how many women I've sh*gged. So it could change week by week lol.
Bill99 {Ed007's Note - The Bhoys is a nickname of the club/team, like Rangers with 'bears'. Not the sanctimonious and outdated WATP, no Rangers fan has ever been actually capable of explaining to me why the say it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It is a throwback to the dark old days when the 'establishment' club Rangers represented the true people of Scotland and indeed Great Britain. I think we refer to ourselfs as 'The Quintessential British Club' as an extension of this claim. The desire to be seen as the club of an essentially Protestant country hence, 'We are the People'.
Followfollow81 {Ed007's Note - You are the first person that has ever been able to tell me that FF81, honestly. I knew about the 'quintessential' stuff but not that, cheers. When you try to look it up you get some nonsense answers etc.}

Re: Bill99 , Stop talking p1sh Sir , Blue Order is it ? You lot are trying to replicate the Green Brigade , not going to happen Nobby ! at your first game v Stirling Albion , the police tried to abandon the game at half time because of your offensive , illegal , repulsive sectarian bile , the reason yous only sing when yous score , is because you lot only know enough legal , acceptable songs to last about the first 10 minutes , whereas the Green Brigade have more than enough to last 90 minutes , 30 minutes extra time and penalties , i like most of Roy Orbiston's music , but Penny Arcade is boring drivel , like most of your songs .

Leeds fan in peace here,
I thought I'd let you lads know how O'Dea is getting on!

He's started every game for us but in our defence that's not exactly something to be impressed with at the moment.

He blows hot and cold for me, sometimes he seems to be a good defender but he is prone to huge lapses of concentration which tend to cost goals. He and the rest of our centre backs, aren't really up to the challenges of the Championship but O'Dea is the best of a rotten bunch so to speak. I don't really know what the standard of the SPL is in comparison to the Championship but I can't imagine him getting in your team any time soon unless he improves as a player.

Up the Bhoys! MOT

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Hi mate, the standard of the spl is pretty poor at the moment, and the standard of our c/b is even poorer. I liked Darren O'dea as a c/b at times, but definitely not at left back. He is better than what we have at the moment, but that isn't much of a compliment. I wouldn't have him back as he had his chance, and imo he is an honest player, but just not good enough. I thinksome fans want him back because of how bad our defenders are, but they are forgetting that he wasn't all that. I wish we had went for his R.O.I team mate Richard Dunne. So all in all, if you go up we will let you have him for 18million,
cheers paddybhoy

I am very impressed with the player that James Forrest is turning into. It's reminisent of Mcgeady the way teams are now doubling up on him whenever he has the ball. Although most people believe the team is at it's best with hooper/stokes up front, I believe the team has been at it's best this season when that trio have all started. Forrest is pulling players to him creating space for the other 2, and links up brilliantly with them. He also seems to have a lot more goals in him than Aiden ever had. When those 3 play, Celtic tend to be at there most creative.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I love wee Forrest and hope Lennon sticks with him..defo showing great potential and always up for the game !

Agree0 Disagree0

Steve naismith is the best player to come out of scotland for many moons..hopefully this carrys through to the national squad...unfortunataley the guys to good for the spl..enjoy the talent while we can.i dont think the guy will be here much longer...even the ed cant dispute this........ {Ed007's Note - He's a good player and the best Rangers have, but the best in many moons?? Nah! James McCarthy, over 50 games for an EPL club and he is still only 20.}
