Ed have you heard anything about Danny McGrain mate?

Led to believe that at the start of the season he was still part of the set up but not seen or heard of for much of the season

Just wondering if all okay after the heartscare?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - He's still there as far as I know mate, maybe he's just taking things easier.}

25 May 2015 22:04:20
Thanks Ed (y)

Is it just me or have Football teams really got their act together in SACKING managers,
Dont recall so many managers bagged before the end of may.

25 May 2015 18:39:04
Hi ED/guys anybody know when we due back in for training? Not wishing them back just want to know how long a break they get as they need it.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I was told yesterday that players will be reporting back the 3rd week in June. Just as a bit of useless info it seems that Jim McGuinness will be handed the reigns to take some of the pre-season sessions as he works towards his UEFA B-grade coaching badges.}

25 May 2015 19:16:03
That does not surprise me Ed one bit about McGuinness RD seems to be closer to him than any of the other staff he inherited IMO

RD was on record a while back as saying the next coach he wants brought in is someone to work on "finishing" that would be a great summer signing IMO & if he could do the scouting input for strikers that could be the best summer signing going mate (y)

Agree0 Disagree1

25 May 2015 19:26:57
Cheers Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

25 May 2015 19:56:44
Jamie, A large chunk of finishing is in the mind, especially doing it consistently so I think McGuinness could have an input there certainly. Remember the talk of Larsson coming in as a coach and as much as he may be able to pass on a few things I think of you're already a pro striker, the way you hit a ball is about as good as it's ever going to be. I think it's more aspects of positioning and movement that seperates the good from the great.

Agree2 Disagree1

25 May 2015 21:06:09
I would not disagree with what you are saying JT mate however, it was the one thing when a heard RD say it a was really happy with it

When it comes to sourcing/scouting strikers we are mince mate and especially as we are in the market for "rough diamonds"

Before MON era a would have been ridiculed at asking/seeking a GK coach but now everyone has them when it came to giving CG a contract decision lay squarely with Stevie Woods

Just need a different angle now a think as it is the one area of the park we are badly let own IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2015 05:58:01
I would be surprised if mc Guinness had anything to do with finish coaching.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2015 14:01:14
TTTS, he won't be on the pitch showing the players as such no but I reckon he'll be able to coach our strikers in other ways.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 May 2015 06:18:48
I'd say he could, if his GAA coaching methods are anything to go by.

Meant to say. Am I alone in being an admirer of Scottish footballs newest pundit? Michael Stewart ex hibs and hearts. I think the lad is top class. Sorry for off topic but credit where it is due

Believable3 Unbelievable6

25 May 2015 18:10:21
I agree he has done ok so far let's hope he sticks to the truth

Agree2 Disagree0

25 May 2015 18:24:36
He's certainly an improvement on that clown Neil McCann. He was on again this morning, spouting the usual rubbish about how Scottish football needs Sevco in the top flight because the whole country wants someone to challenge Celtic at the top of the division.
The only people that I can see who want Sevco in the top league, is Sevco themselves, and their mates in the media like McCann.
When their old club were winning their 9 in a row, and Celtic were very weak, I don't recall anyone in the Scottish media complaining of it being too one sided, or that the whole country was crying out for someone to challenge them, it's just good old fashioned bitterness.
Sevco can't even challenge Hearts in the Championship, so how they are supposed to challenge us, is anybody's guess.
If these pundits can't keep their prejudice's hidden, then they should be replaced with one's who can, but I suppose in Scotland they're not easy to find.

Agree4 Disagree0

25 May 2015 20:16:54
Even harder to find if your not looking for them .

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2015 22:19:39
Yeah I agree with you paradisewon. Think he is a top pundit.

Not as good as Keane though in my opinion.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's nothing Roy Keane isn't good at.}

25 May 2015 22:30:25
What about managing ed? Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He took over Sunderland who were sitting second bottom of the Championship and won them promotion and title in his first season.}

25 May 2015 16:37:24
Middlesbrough a poor lot. Norwich comfortable. Poor standard. In saying that big Cameron Jerome looked the part. He lad leadbetter for Boro good too. Lee Tomlin way off the pace. Looks like a heavy commons Very few players of the 22 would involve celtic

Believable1 Unbelievable1

25 May 2015 17:00:59
Vossen even looks like he's struggling and he's a class act

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 16:35:05
With the season now finished and the deadwood in the squad, I'd be happy if we slimmed our squad down and replaced with the rumoured targets.

Zaluska - Cierzniak

Denayer - Boyata

Dijks brought in

Tonev, Wakaso, Boerrigter - Jahanbakhsh

Rogic, McGregor, Henderson - Loaned. Benali in

McGeough, Irvine - Sold

Guidetti, Pukki, Balde, Fridjonsson - Jonathas

And if Stokes and Scepovic don't perform next season replace both with Araujo. That would be some squad agreed anyone? Probably a bit wishful thinking

Believable0 Unbelievable3

25 May 2015 16:46:01
Bravetart. Put a bet in that coming in. You'd get 1000000 to 1! A fiver would put you on world rich list

Agree1 Disagree1

25 May 2015 16:54:06
I would be confident on the people going out the squad will be streamlined with the ones mentioned we would be saving 100k wages and if we qualified for the CL then why not? Only Jonathas and Boyata will command a biggish signing on fee, Cierzniak is free, The other 3 are about a million odd each

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 17:02:57
How many chances is stokes going to get , he is not good enough and brings nothing but trouble.

Agree2 Disagree1

25 May 2015 17:08:50
I read a story about him being approached for his Dad to buy guns so these guys can try kill Mad Dog Adair, That is something we don't want our club to be involved in or our players. To be fair there's no place for him in the squad now especially if players are coming in

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed007's Note - It's hardly Stokes' fault if there's clowns in a pub and it's not as if Stokes is running about pubs with his banger out on show, should our club just accept that behaviour? If someone outside CP asks RD if he could help get some weed into Norway should we sack RD? You're blaming Stokes for something that had nothing to do with him, now if you mentioned his court case for giving Elvis a slap that's a different matter but going by your logic that's the Elvis impersonator's fault.}

25 May 2015 18:13:05
Yes Ed I agree, it looks sometimes that some Celtic followers can't wait to put the boot into Celtic players . I also agree that there is an issue with the Elvis impersonator but that has been running for two years now ,, and has been postponed again until January . I think we should wait to see what the court comes up with .
As far as his football ability is concerned , I think that our squad is not good enough for us to sell him until we are sure we have a better replacement .
Delia doesn't want to part with any of our better players and I agree with that .

Agree1 Disagree3

25 May 2015 20:25:17
I don't think stokes is good enough he has been at Celtic for four years and hasn't nailed down a starting slot and yes I do think it's unbecoming of a Celtic player to be attacking anyone on a night out no matter how deserving the recipient may seem , I would feel the same even if it was you he gave a slap Chris, well maybe 😊

Agree7 Disagree0

25 May 2015 21:07:56
Chris you truly are a prize idiot in the post above which you agreed with the ed had a dig at Forrest then you complained some fans can't wait to have a dig at players , so which is it do you agree with the ed or do you think all Celtic players are above criticism? I take it back I know some idiots who make more sense than you lmfao 😅

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2015 16:32:09
Paradisewon £5m doesn't place you on world rich list

Agree2 Disagree0

27 May 2015 21:52:29
Well no did I say it would be Elvis' fault? That's no ones logic but your own shite one! He has had too many incidents Ed like the IRA Memorial thing to note, I think most fans don't want Celtic or its players involved with anything to do with that shite just brings a bad reputation to the club and I haven't been on a while Chris I see things don't change you are still a ball bag!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've absolutely no idea what you're talking about, maybe you shouldn't read as many newspapers.}

25 May 2015 15:13:29
I don't even know if this is a good idea if possible but what if we could get drogba for his last year I know he's past his best but he would score for fun for us just a suggestion!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

25 May 2015 16:44:21
Drogba is done mate! I'm guessing he could still make a fortune in America or sum other country were money's no object! Na defo not for me mate! Think we're going to have the same problem tryin to fill that number 9 position this summer if I'm honest! Let's hope they can identify someone who can come in and make that position there own! I'm a big fan of griffiths and he's good for 20 odd goals a season in the SPL,but we need sumthin else for the champions league.

Agree2 Disagree1

25 May 2015 18:16:41
Hooper?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 18:20:28
I can imagine how little relish the other 9 outfield players Celtic have for running their guts out to make up for a player like Drogba hanging around the 18 yard box and letting the rest do the work.
Delia has successfully got Celtic playing in a formation and patterns , the players he brings in will have to play in the same way and improve it .

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 19:53:21
If we get champions league football i'd use that injection to sanction Kuranyi's wages as I think he's still on a Bosman. Think he's the penalty box striker we need. Would be pleased to see Scepovic get a good pre season as first half of the season I was scratching my head as to why he wasn't getting more time. RD came out and basically said there were thinga he needs to work on but in the past few weeks he's been singing his praises but obviously Griffiths form was keeping him out. Griffiths is a very good finisher, just not cut out for the one up in CL. Araujo, would love. He's got that ability to stretch and torment a defence on his own and would be a great second plan. Or Yousouff Poulsen who can also play RAM/LAM.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 20:06:50
Jim Jim . Do you think that Deila is looking for an out and out penalty box striker .
I doubt it , I think he wants his striker to pressurise the defenders and like the rest of the team work hard to get the ball back .

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 20:14:57
Think its important to have options chris.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 20:46:06
What's the point of wining the ball back if you don't have a quality player who can make things happen when you have won it back?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2015 00:54:43
We desperately need some one else for the CL upfront I just hope RD has a good say in his targets especially up front! I'dont think ciftci is good enough! And I'm right worried about the defence situation we need to settle in 2 centre halfs not an easy job to do!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2015 09:22:21
Well yesterday was, even in the spectrum of Celtic celebrations, a pretty good day. A good crowd, where have you been all season?, seemed to help the players and from minute one Inverness were on a hiding.

For me the best part was doing a bit of Ronny watching. The abuse this guy had to put up with early season, was shocking. We expected a hard time from the media, but sadly some Celts were lining up to have a pop. You could clearly see how much this meant to him and he in turn saw how much it means to us.Winning, always, but yesterday was a real Celtic display and that was more pleasing.

The fact is Ronny must now be backed.Peter Lawwell must have seen the bond he has created with the support, and he is no fool, he will know funds need to made available. Lenny was backed, Pukki, Balde and Derk 7 MILLION FFS!

Lastly, Dungarees ED! What were you thinking? Sadly I wore them in the first wave as well, around 77 78 I think. No photographic evidence thankfully!

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - I know, I don't know what I was thinking.}

25 May 2015 14:07:39

Hahaha blast from the past ED , I remember my dungarees well pepi they were I think red fila trainers belting out the old aceeeeed house music , damn those were the days lol

25 May 2015 18:05:15
Hahaha aye the baby blue pods dear oh dear oh dear 😳

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - The shame of it all |-) At least I can say with my hand on heart I never had tartan jeans, they were by far one of the worst fashion fads I can remember.}

25 May 2015 19:29:25
Regarding oor wullie books,on the antiques roadshow two weeks ago a gentleman had everyone since the first edition in1939.he brought the first five onto the show, they were valued at £5000 each.pity we didn't keep the ones we had as children.killy.

Can it really be 48 years since we won the European Cup on 25 May 1967 (an achievement that has BUST many a team trying to emulate Celtic lol) my two uncles went in the car cavalcade which left from Celtic Park, their old Hillman Imp bedecked in green and white as were hundreds of other cars of all makes and sizes, as they travelled across europe to reach LISBON.How some of them made it is a miracle in itself. I was desperate to go, but my parents did not have the money and I also had important exams to take so reluctantly had to stay in Glasgow. I read every paper of the day about our preparations, Big Jock took the team to SEAMILL to relax and get the team away from all the hassle. Today teams would go away to Spain or Portugal, but Celtic loved "lucky Seamill" and planned the downfall of Inter Milan there. CALAMITY on the day of the big game, our old television broke down and I was in tears fearing I would miss the great occasion, but my resourceful dad, pulled in a favour from a pal who had a television repair shop and borrowed an even better tv for us to watch the game on (my dad always claimed he was not bothered about Celtic but that day proved to me how he felt about the bhoys, he was not going to miss the game of the century either, god bless you dad) 2-1 WE HAD BEATEN THE MIGHTY INTER MILAN. I had to go to school next day but me and my pals left school early about 2pm to travel to Parkhead to see the team coming home with the BIG CUP. On the bus we bumped into 3 of our teachers who had the same idea lol. We stood at the ground for what seemed like hours then the team arrived, ON THE BACK OF A COAL LORRY, (can you imagine Chelsea or Manchester United doing that ha ha) I was young and had little idea of just what a momentous occasion I had witnessed. Jock Stein and the Lisbon Lions thank you for such glorious memories.

Well said, I have a box of stuff from the final that my granny left me, ticket, badges, scarf and other cherished belongings, I also have a rug which shows a map of Europe and the 4 trophies in either corner, with a player holding a trophy. it has a summary of the season on the back, only ever seen 1 like it, think it was in Baird's many years ago. Also, that was back in the day when "Big Ears" had stature in my eyes, and was not entirely driven by cash. Disgraceful that Celtic, and other champions, have to qualify.

There were very different times in the 1960's/70's . Celtic in 1967 earned more in bonuses for winning the European Cup than Manchester in 1968 .
When Sir Matt Busby retired he got his wish and was appointed to the Board .
The type of Director he was , was one that couldn't draw any money .
Sir Matt insisted he needed a wage . It was decided he take money from the United Shop, and every Friday Sir Matt had to go to the shop and take away his wages .

It is surely different days all round from those magical days . Sir Matt had the same principles as Jock Stein re paying players . a modest wage plus decent bonuses .
