Ed do you think a deal for Saidy Janko is likely to happen? Also I've seen conflicting reports of him coming on loan, being out of contract, commanding a fee - do you know what the actual situation is? If Matthews does leave as a result of the signing of Janko then I won't be overly fussed. He's a decent player but he's been here a while and I don't think he's improved a great deal since when we signed him. Lustig is a far better all round right back so I'd be happy with a fully fit Lustig, Janko and Fisher vying for the RB spot

{Ed007's Note - It isn't very clear at all but from what I can see a website that people swear by has Janko's contract expiring in 2017 yet the player himself said in February while on loan at Bolton:

'My contract is over in the summer and then we'll see; the doors are open. I want to prove myself here at Bolton and then maybe I can show United I can get another contract there'.

Janko joined Utd in 2013 when he was aged 17 and as a player who's 18 years old or younger can only sign a contract for a maximum of 3 years the 2017 figure can't be right and I can't see any record of his signing a new deal.
Even if he is out of contract we will still have training compensation to pay both FC Zurich and Man Utd.}

Janko, I thought would get his debut last season, was even a sub a couple of times before his loan at Bolton, so if you could get him would be a great player to get.

HI ED Do Think Jesse Vossen Will Sign for Celtic

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I have no idea.}

25 Jun 2015 16:21:54
ED007 I was talking to a pal who is connected to Celtic Pools and most times seems to be well informed, he informed me Vossen is on holiday until Monday, Celtic are interested but apparently Genk have a new manager who wants Vossen to stay and may offer him a better deal, it now all depends on the player if he wants to stay in Belgium or ply his trade elsewhere, my pal also stated if Celtic could for definite, offer CL football he would come, so maybe all us fans will have to wait until end of August when qualifiers are over.

I don't feel vossen is of the quality to make a decision on playing for Celtic on CL football alone! We would be the biggest club he's played for full stop!

Think your pal got most of that info in the paper tim! And as for the part we need to get in the CL before he'll come! Don't believe that to be honest.the guys due back at genk on Monday,so we'll not find out anythin til next week! Like to see him join us but if not I'm sure RD will have someone else in mind! Just hope it's somebody with a bit of pedigree!

Guys maybe my pal at Celtic pools did get info from papers, but I usually find what he says happens, (maybe he has great newspaper contacts or reads them all lol) as for not being a big enough name to ask for CL, if Vossen believes in his own ability he is going to want to play in the CL

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jun 2015 21:56:59
And if he really believed in his own ability then he would join us and score the goals that get us into the CL! Lol

I used to have a soft spot for Liverpool (sorry ed) but nowadays I seem to have a growing dislike for all English PL teams. With the amount of money they spend on players I feel it's ruined the game. Their latest signing of Firmino for a reported £29 million! They've spent an outrageous amount of money on llalana, Henderson, Allen and of course Andy Carroll. A colleague of mine is a Newcastle fan and assures me that the £35 million for him was paid up front. I find this hard to believe.

I just keep hoping the bubble bursts but with the England under 21s team failing to qualify last night it's seems to me that these inflated price tags are detrimental to their team

Think people get their lines crossed between the ratings of the BPL and the ratings of English players in the media.

Is the BPL the best league in the world? For me, no. But it's in the top 3. Some people natter about it like it's the Scottish Championship!

Young English players however, yes, there are a few that are over-hyped and over-priced.

90% of young English players are overhyped - 100% of them are overpriced. If you compare the transfer fees paid for English players against those paid in Continental Europe, for players of the same age and experience then it is just insane.

FFP rules are making this a false market. If Sky pulled the plug tomorrow the fall-out would bring it to it's knees. Most of these clubs are so up to their neck in debt, and reliant on TV money that they would disappear of the face of the earth if it dried up.

Andy Carroll Newcastle to Liverpool £35m (Hooper outscored him in the Championship the season prior); David Bentley Blackburn to Spurs £15; Francis Jeffers (lol) Everton to Arsenal £8m; Jack Rodwell Everton to Man City £12m - Man City to Sunderland £10m; Raheem Sterling £50m asking price - Honours: Liverpool player of the year and Golden Boy Award (?) 2014

The English media just seem to assume that if a young English player shows a bit of promise, that means they are world class.
They can never seem to understand that these other countries are also producing young players, a lot of them more talented than the players England are bringing through.
Before the 2009 Champions league final, when Barcelona beat Manchester United 2-0 in Rome, there wasn't one paper in England who didn't think Manchester United would win easily, they all said how superior United were and how Messi wasn't a patch on Ronaldo.
I don't know if it's arrogance, but I don't think a lot of these journalists had even seen Barcelona play before, they just assumed that the English team was superior because the English Premier league is the best league in the world.
The English FA spent nearly one billion pounds building Wembley stadium, they also spent a fortune building their training ground at St George's park, money seems to be their only solution to everything.
I love it when they put ridiculous valuations on their young players, and are then left scratching their heads, when players from abroad, who are valued at a fraction of the price, run rings round them at major tournaments.

To be fair their stadium is top notch I wish we would build something a bit nicer than Hampden. Like the Aviva Stadium. England's invested a lot of money into grassroots over the years too. Their U21s have been shocking for a while their world cup was an embarrassment but media overhype anything or anyone English. I even read that they're going to win the world cup 2022! With the failing U21 side? The players from Germany and Holland are technically better than England their youth sides are better so they've more chance. I wonder whose fault it will all be when it goes wrong

Really looking forward to this new season for a number of reasons, but one of my main ones might seem silly but the simple thing of changing our strip design back to a more recognised traditional Celtic top has won me over, I hated that stupid pinstripe one last year, at least New Balance have us LOOKING like Celtic again. Even the all green away strip harks back to the Lisbon lions era (if only we could emulate them this season and win 5 trophies lol)
