Ed,with all the rumours of VVD leaving and his value,do u know if gronnigen have a sell on fee and how much?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The sell-on clause is 10% of any profit we make on the £2.6 million we paid.}

26 Jul 2015 10:56:49
Ed I remember u saying a while back that other clubs were bulking at the amount we wanted for VVD by any chance do you know what that fee is or what fee do u think we ar looking for?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We're looking for £8-10 million.}

Hi guys,
Ok will maybe upset a few of you including ed!
Think board should be investing more in team, we have 40k season ticket holders?
We all buy at least a top from Celtic shop?
We buy extra tickets for cup/euro matches?
We have lowered the wage bill?
Totally ripping the arse out of all Celtic supporters!
I am happy with transfer model with team, buying players develop and sell on. but think if we sell example wanyama for 12m think we could buy better prospects say go over the 2m transfer cap! Say 3, 4m prospects a la Porto/Basel. That's what's pissin me off as a genuine supporter. buy season ticket, merchandise.
Was at game today and players I thought done well were janko, griffiths, ROGIC,gms and Armstrong, honestly think ROGIC looks better than Briton on that position. Ciftci needs a goal then he won't stop scoring mark my words, think he is just trying too hard. I do like buying players from spl some good players here. Looking forward to a challenge this year hopefully from sheep, and Hearts
Think we still need couple of players!
Ed give CG a break!
Give me your replies!
HH!

Don't know how anyone can say Rogic is better than Bitton. How many games has Rogic played in the hoops? Not many I thought Bitton was outstanding last season and I for one hope he stays in the team.

another good result and we played well first half controlling the game, Griffiths again looked sharp and must start in midweek. Biton still has to find the form of last season he gave the ball away a number of times today which allowed the opposition to break on us. Special praise for big Efe he was excellent today. Roll on Wednesday here's hoping we score a couple and keep a clean sheet

I think Bitton and Rogic are different kinda midfielders - If he's good enough, I've no doubt Ronny will play him.

Just watched the game a few thoughts first half ok, starting 11 against Qarabag with Johannsen coming in.Ref a disgrace I know it was a friendly but Rennes were anything but, a few bookings would not have gone amiss. Fasan excellent as was Janko going forward otherwise no one knocking the door down to get into the first team. What the hell does Stokes bring to this club, did nothing of note, off the pace and pushed Scepovic out of the way to put another free kick over the bar totally overated by himself and some fans on this site, time to go.
Where was Henderson Irvine Fisher and Mcgeogh would love to see what they could done, looks like they will leave and show there class elsewhere

Afternoon ed and all. Just back from a family holiday and haven't heard anything bout the tic for 2 weeks. All I've seen was a muted 60 mins on wed night so no more on what's happening. I see lg is number 9 do you think that would suggest he is to be our main man and no more strikers will be brought in. If nadir ciftci is to be our main signing I think we are plummeting to new depths. No wonder wee Lenny left. Give rd a chance give him a few bob to spend. I maybe jumping the gun and I've missed a few 5m signings but I can only see celtic going backwards if things continue in this way.

To be fair, Lennon's budget would have been a huge step up from RD's at Stroemgodset so he would have known what he was getting before signing was probably delighted. Like all fans though, I'd love to see a couple of proven quality players but it doesn't look like happening. Maybe if we qualify but it's a long shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 17:07:47
Think we've been saying that for a long time mate. Maybe if we qualify, maybe if we sell a big name for 10m we'll get 4/5 back. Just feeling a bit short changed the now as a celtic fan. Am getting ready for the big deadline busting loan deal as of previous windows.

26 Jul 2015 11:09:43
I am happy with our signings to date: Ciftci, Boyata, Jancko & Bailley.

Based on previous years patterns and the fact that Lawwell has stated that our business model is based on Europa Qualification, would suggest to me that we spend very modestly until European football is guaranteed. Once we have guaranteed qualification then I would expect some more signings before the window closes.

As Ed has said previously (and on this occassion I actually agree with him), let's judge the transfer window once it closes and not half way through.

Ive good sources that Lennon tried to get Ambrose!Ed 007 you need pu your game with your sources

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Ask your sources how much debt Bolton are in and how close they came to receiving a transfer embargo - and tell them to stop reading the $hite on that hit-whoring cesspit HITC, they pay people to make up stories.
And while you're there ask the to explain the English FFP Regs to you.}

I browse their site in work sometimes when it's quiet and they had us in a transfer battle with Sheffield United for about 4 different players over a 2 week period lol

Ambrose is a totally Diddy! Sorry!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 22:57:45
You should be sorry, you really need to watch his performance, he gets criticised for every mistake yet when Virgil makes a mistake not a word is heard. How did you think he played today, I thought he was excellent particularly in the second half leading a young team

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 10:53:31
Time for a wee bit speculation.

Everton are reportedly targeting Virgil as Stones replacement. Now I really rate Stones. But Everton have rejected a £30m bid and supposedly want £40m. Now, ignoring the inflated market of young English players, there clearly is a measurement to work off there. If Stones is worth £40m, how much do people thing Virgil is worth!?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

25 Jul 2015 11:56:19
£6m with the other guy about £8m.

We will probably get about £8m

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 11:59:18
Not sure what price i'd put on Virgils head but i'd be unhappy if he was sold for anything less than £10m.

Oh how I wish we had a fit John Kennedy, He was Captain material after just a few games.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 13:06:02
I'd be miffed to get less than £10m. We've seen worse prospects go for more. He needs a good CL qualifiers to really show he might be worth the money though admittedly. Hasn't been great in Europe.

My point was more to do with is there scope for exploiting Everton. If they have £40m in their pocket is it too much to ask 15, maybe even £20m? If Virgil went for £10m, is Stones really FOUR times a more valuable asset?

I'm not happy with the way we reinvest. I think, in order to leave the board with absolutely no excuses of significant investment, we're depending on either:

a) CL money (PL even said we don't budget ourselves on it);

b) A transfer fee recieved that may raise a few eyebrows of those that maybe say Virgil is worth £6m.

I just hope that we negotiate something which is fair. And by fair I mean that the buying club acknowledge some sort of scale as to what players are 'worth' to other clubs.

In all, if Everton sell Stones for £40, I think we should be asking £15-20m. It sounds crazy, but it's not us with the crazy money at disposal.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 13:48:56
if they deem vvd as good enough to replace a 40million player then we charge them 40million . I don't want to hear stuff that make us look like happy to get scraps off the epl table if a team from the so called best league in the world want our players then they pay best league prices or go elsewhwere

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 14:06:47
Everyone needs to take their green tinted specs off. VVD cannot get into the Dutch Squad never mind the team, There is not a queue of teams lining up to buy him. Are all these managers wrong or is there a fault we do not see or is the quality in Scottish opposition so poor that he only looks good in the SPFL. After all he has shown nothing in Europe. The Icelanders walked through our defence on Wednesday, next week is not just a huge game for Celtic but also VVD and RD as a failure to beat Qarabag could see an end to our season before it has even started

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 14:25:22
Going by the logic above then we should have paid 12 million for Biton (to replace Wanyama) and 5 million for Pukki (to replace Hooper).

We will get the going rate for VVD and as others have said that should be around the 10 million mark. Ask for more than that and we run the risk of him not being sold at all this summer and getting half the 10 million next summer.

We can then invest the full 10 million as promised on that 6 million pound player Ed007 keeps telling us we were promised and then 4 million on four 1 million pound projects like Balde!

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 15:10:04
Think there's a few on here need a reality check by the way! 15-20 million for VVD! U havin a laugh? He's been found out on the European stage on more than one occasion! And the Icelandic part timers walked through our defence as if it wasn't there on wed nite! Yes the EPL prices are obscene, and 30 million pound for a young boy who's been in the first team for a season is outrageous! But there's no chance that VVD is going for more than 10 million! We'll be lucky to get 8! Personally I preferred denayer over him! Bit of a reality check is needed I think! Decent player that he is,he ain't no superstar! And he's nowhere near wanyamas level!

Agree2 Disagree2

25 Jul 2015 16:00:50
dh88 ,whether you think he's worth it isn't the point.if you've got an asset somebody(and quite a few want him) wants you go for the highest price you can squeeze out ,everton have set the precedent by asking 40m for the guy they want vvd to replce so we/celtic should use that figure as our initial selling price , jf someone offered you 10k for a car worth 2k would you point that out to him and let him drop his offer accordingly

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2015 18:29:29
Have to remember as well Groningen have got a 20% clause in his contract, so we sell him for £10M(Which I have my doubts about but would be delighted at that sort of fee)then we'll need to give £2M of that straight away.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2015 11:04:24
The simple fact is the the EPL is floating on cash injections from sponsors etc. the SPL is not. We are a massive club with poor cash injections from those who sponsor etc (in comparison to relation to EPL, Bundesliga, Seria etc.) English clubs are throwing money at the less well off and buying, not only the smaller club assets but weakening any potential opposition from them. The big clubs treat us the same way, we need additional cash so we have limitations on how long we can hold out and demand cash for good players before we risk losing them on Bosmans. I don't like it but it is reality. Ed is spot on about FFFP. it's a well intended farce.
