In reply to the message left about the cg interview, I posted 2 pertinent points that as usual won't get posted...

Is cg going to still call for a show of books and prove who has best balance as previously proclaimed at end of yr?

Is traynor going to retract comments over his new employer not going to be the team formally known as rangers?wh

Believable6 Unbelievable3

As usual? Comments tend to only get posted if they are relevant, i'm sure eds on both pages are sick to the back teeth of stupid or just bitter comments which they don't even bother reading.

Fyi - your comment was posted.

A post of mine that didn't see the light of day was the suggestion that, if RIFC are determined to leave Scottish football, they should apply to join the Irish Football Association and play in Northern Ireland . They would have a core support already there, they have fans who already do the travelling, they would give a great financial boost to a struggling economy and they should win the league with ease and qualify for entry-level European competition. It's surely not about the money?

Paddy Malarkey

Agree3 Disagree0

The northern irish leagues are even less competitive than scottish football. No one is denying the entire scottish football, a well as irish and welsh leagues need to be more Competitive

this morning I posted about mr. desmonds wealth. jhedi says . its paper money and doesn't have it. chrisbhoy says i'm childlike in my thoughts about finance . absolute pish .. if he cashes in, everything he owns, he would have 1.35 billion pounds . that is what he's worth whether he has got it in shares, or cash. makes no difference, it's still 1.35 billion and if he wanted to, he could go to the bank and get it in notes . you and chrisbhoy will have to explain to me . why he doesn't have £1.35b, when that is what he is worth. and yes I got it wrong, he paid £23.5m for london airport, but yes I got it right, he sold it for £ 750m . he has got the money . that I would spend on celtic .. chris..bhoy childlike is the truth.. shammy

Believable3 Unbelievable4

@ Shammy; I have to take your word on Mr Desmond realising his assets and cashing in. I don't know where you got your numbers from but I would think that a lot of his wealth will be in property, hedge funds and the like. These are not things you can just walk into a bank and cash in.Property obviously has to be sold and funds usually are legally watertight till a certain date for release. I do see your point though. If I had say, £100m I would think around £30m would be spendable to buy into Celtic. Remember there will be capital gains tax on selling prices as well......green jhedi

25 Jan 2013 22:37:25
@Shammy, it;s not like you to take offense.
we all have differing opinions, look at me..
I get bundles of moans about my posts, but it's water off a duck's back.
For the record, I agree to a point, Dermott could be doing more to help Celtic, if he is not willing to bankroll club, why can't he arrange interest free loans etc..to be paid back over a longer period? Timalloy

Agree2 Disagree1

Desmond can't do anymore to help celtic with effecting shareholders share prices. The more money he spends on the club everyone's shares would be deluted and his hold on the club would rise . He can't put his own money into the club without effecting the stock market and share prices he can loan he club money intrest free and as a plc the club has to live within there own income. As mr desmond does not own the club he is only majority share holder not owner.

if Zaha is worth £15m in man united estimation then surely that's the entry point for Wanyama negotiations. The CP player is untested above the championship while VW has proven on a number of occasions this yr in CL.
I've a feeling though that as always our board/DD will bukle under the first serious bid.
Stevo Dundee

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Yeah like they done with the 2 Hooper bids over the last 7 days lol

Agree2 Disagree2

I said serious bid numb nut. £4.5m-£5m with differing amounts up front aren't serious. before you respond with a smart assed comment read the post ok. stevo dundee

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed, what's ure thoughts on big Vic? Gone in summer but how much?
I assume he isn't staying
Steve dundee {Ed007's Note - Oh the pressure!! :-) I would hope that we would get a minimum £15 million for Wanyama but I am also hoping that it becomes a bit of an auction for him, especially since Man City have became interested.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Who you calling numb nuts d*ckhead?

Your post was gash, and 5 million for Hooper is low but not laughable with 18 months left of his contract. We held out and got the right money for McGeady, the last big sale we negotiated. Your being presumptuous with your claims. Lennon has twice stated 25 million for Wanyama and Peter Lawwell has mentioned how highly the club value him. Doesn't sound like they are about to give someone a gift of a deal does it? Sounds to me like they are telling any interested parties they want top dollar for him, and I think we will get it. My first reply was on the money mate, smile about it, don't be a little bitch and take a huff.

I think its to do with a messy divorce GJ:-

'A TYCOON who stumped up one of Scotland's most expensive divorce settlements has raised £5million by selling shares in Celtic.

Advertising guru Chris Trainer was the biggest holder of Celtic shares after Irish billionaire Dermot Desmond.

But in a transaction announced by the London Stock Exchange last week, the 46 -year-old sold a huge tranche of shares to his own company, Forrest Securities.

Trainer took advantage of Celtic's booming share price by selling 8, 344, 864 ordinary shares in the club to Forrest Securities'

As he approached the first bed the patient said
"some hae meat, an canny eat"
Boris confused (easily done) went to the next bed
this time he was greeted with "Fair fa ye honest sonsie face"
He quickly moved to the next bed and the patient
uttered these words "wee sleekit cowering timorous beestie, oh whit a panic's in yer breestie"

If Wilfried Zaha is worth 12 million then surely Hooper is worth at least 15 million. Why is it Crystal palace can sell the players for double what we are being offered for ours. I know Manchester united are not after Hooper but I still think its a bit ridiculous.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Players are judged by the teams they play against not the teams the play for {Ed007's Note - In the league that we bought Hooper from after he outscored £35 million Andy Carroll.....Good reasoning there pal.}

Agree3 Disagree0

I was thinking the samething but thought of it more close to home. We sold Mcgeady for 9.5 I think and who was one of our better players so I say hooper, wanyama and forster are more important to our club and better then Mcgeady. So in using our new strategy we have to make more then 10 mill as to come in as a true club that will make noise around the world in the players we can attract. Hooper giving his contract don't know if it is possible to get 10+mill but think the club should play hard after so many years of clubs pouching us of players.
Hope this spurs rumour is true and can shall out the money with a nice sell on. C-Bhoy

An early day motion against The rangers.Raised by George Galloway and supported by four MP's this centres on the fact they seem to think they are the same club.About time some questions were asked about this. Same ground, colours and "we bought the history" nonsense.well your history was as debt dodgers. You want to be known as the same club Mr green? pay your debt.Still owing football debts with not a word from the SFA, it's getting ridiculous now............green jhedi

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Its supported by 3 other Labour party MPs Green Jhedi

You cannot brag' of being the same club and cash rich when the same club you are claiming to be entered administration owing £14m in VAT and PAYE less than a year ago.

It is setting a poor example and if Rangers are allowed to get away with it, what's to stop other Football Clubs doing the same thing?

According to anyone to do with Rangers (old & new) all you lose by going into Liquidation is the debt.. Guid Yin ! ~ Mrs E

Agree6 Disagree0

Totally agree with you Jhedi mate, need to watch what I say because Ed thirty-nine blocked my IP from posting for calling his team by there name S***O. FifeBhoy1888

Agree5 Disagree0

Motion:
That this House notes that the owners of the club now playing in the Scottish Third Division called Rangers claim that it is the same club with the same history as the liquidated club also known as Rangers; further notes that 14 million in VAT and PAYE was withheld in the run-up to administration by the previous Rangers; further notes that the club is now cash-rich through a share issue which raised in excess of 20 million; condemns the use of insolvency laws to avoid paying tax owed; and calls on the Government to take steps to reclaim the outstanding monies from Rangers and to bring forward legislative proposals to prevent clubs and companies sidestepping their liabilities through liquidation and then carrying on trading with effectively the same name and in exactly the same business.

Agree7 Disagree3

It's about time leaders in society, particularly elected representatives, did something about the con being rolled out. The police are not rocking in there to enforce insolvency law. The SFA and companies house, footballing and corporate regulatory bodies are clearly acting in concert with CG instead of enforcing the regulations. The people of Scotland and the uk know what is happening is wrong, false and injustice. Lord Nimmo smiths impending tribunal must deliver the expectation of the people. His finding and punishment, at a micro level will tell us what kind of legal system we can expect in an independent Scotland.

Ed, If Hooper Leaves this Window, You Know if Danny Welback is cuptied in CL? He's a quality player surely we could pay 50% of his wages till the summer, I think he's on 80k a week though.. {Ed007's Note - Quality? Hhhmmm I wouldn't say that.}

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I don't get this wellbeck stuff either Ed. Anytime I see him he can look very limited.another one who will end up at sunderland after making his cash. £70k per week(i think) is madness for me...........green jhedi {Ed007's Note - As I say to Utd fans GJ, if Welbeck was at Bolton or Stoke would he be on any 'wishlists', certainly not mine. Him and Cleverley are very over-rated IMO, they are cut a lot of slack with fans because a) they are English and b) they came through the academy.
Man Utd are chasing Lewandowski from Dortmund in the summer, hopefully that will spell the end of Welbeck's Utd career.}

WOW! !

According to Chuckie at Fantasy HQ the entire Barcelona first team are paying up their own contracts and signing on at Govan Rangers FC.
He claims he had a phone call from Messi, Iniesta & Co. saying they want to be part of the Revolution that's occurring over there and the thought of missing out on a SFL D3 "Classico", namely Rangers vs. Annan Athletic is too much of a temptation.
The Argentinian hotshot told him, "Annan are such a strong side and we all want to be part of the Revolution. It is our dream to give everything to help our mate Chuckie build something special. And we want the big hoose to be renamed the 'Even Bigger Hoose'."

Chrisbhoy, Shammy the fairytales keep coming and the ostriches (good to have them back ) lap it up.
Had this argument with my ostrich pals..
They said that if it was Celtic (ha ha as if) our fans would be lapping up all this "bigger team" "best attendances" "biggest stadium" "Champions League money rolling in" etc..
My reply was a) Celtic would NEVER have got to the stage of defunct fc..
b) Celtic fans would have rallied in their hundreds of thousands (not hundreds like defunct fc)
c) we are not as GULLIBLE as their fans
d) Celtic fans would have wanted clear proposals that were workable, not pie in the sky (Sally calm down) schemes
e) chancers like Whyte/Green would not have got anywhere near Celtic Park boardroom

the poor ostriches are just desperate for any good news they will believe anything... Timalloy

Not to long ago, people were saying that Celtic should be allowed into the English F/L. Imo, if it was to happen then Celtic should be made to do the same as Swansea and Cardiff and start from the bottom. And not go straight into the Premier league we have better teams in the Championship that are more worthy of going up. Celtic and all scottish fans should get away from the idea that you are world beaters, That neve qualify for the Euro or World cups and the only reason Celtic ever get to champions league is because no compitition in Scotland from any other club, and even less nor Rangers are defunket.

When did we ever claim 2 be world beaters ya clown haha fact is celtic are a bigger brand globally than 90/95% of the epl fact

gunnebhoy

Agree10 Disagree1

Hard to know where to start with this. poster hasn't said who he supports. probably best to list some epl teams who are totally reliant on tv money and up to their eyeballs in debt.
all of them.
now look at clubs in england with higher ave attds. than celtic.
man utd.
arsenal.
now consider what happens when celtic play top ranking sides in europe : 60000 sell out.
now consider celtics record in competitive matches with (by default) the TOP english clubs.
P 18 W 8 L 6 D 4.
so yer erse is oot the windae, somehow I think youll understand that very well.

Agree10 Disagree2

OP you're either a zombie or a dumb Englishman who know's nothing about the facts, you forget that Scotland is only a country with around 5 and a half million in Population, compared to England which is like 54 Million, and yet no English side has the support Celtic have apart from Manchester United and Arsenal, First BRITISH Team to win the European cup, ( I don't call myself British personally, I'm Scottish.) Lower league teams in England spent millions and millions a year and still struggle, If Celtic moved the epl, They'd make more Money and defo challenge for the Epl title with our support behind us, Even teams like City and Chelsea will never be as big as Celtic, and that's a fact. FifeBhoy1888

Agree8 Disagree1

Regardless of how Celtic qualified they are in the position because they defeated CL teams. It was not an automatic shoe-in like many clubs get. Look at the games played and results before spouting the proverbial verbal.... Celtic have earned the right to be where they are (without cheating or not paying their bills)

I just can't my head round that are four main share holders are worth a combined 4 billion and Celtic are thinking on selling are two top players and it looks like fergie has his eye on foster the fact is see when these guys are on ther death beds I just hope ther last thoughts are why didn't they have a good crack at building a team that would of really had a crack at Europe and not just took the little profit as pocket money in ther cases what Celtic turn over, I personally think Celtic are the biggest supported team on the planet and I feel real fans not just trend supported I think it's time the fans really looked at takeing Celtic too the next phase because if people with billions won't do it it's time for a change

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Mate, everything you say is spot on. but you and me don't have mr. desmonds money. and that's why . because he won't spend it . yes he's worth one and a half billion, and if it was you or me or most people on this site, no problem .. nobody needs one and a half billion . give celtic half a billion, won't miss it. but they don't think like that . I wish I had a clever answer for you, but I don't understand it either .. shammy

Come on mate lets get it right. Do you think these guys have billions in cash? this is paper money and investments were talking about, a whole portfolio.Just be thankful we have guys like that on board, hard times ahead will need them, but come into the real world.Sadly, Celtic are nowhere near the biggest supported team on the planet, we do have a very large world fan base that needs tapped into, as there are a few ahead of us numbers wise............green jhedi

Nothing wrong with a fan wanting the board to spend some cash on players, I go to football to see great players not great accountants, I don't want us to crazy and land us in the sh*te but this obsession with being in the black is getting ridiculous,

Bman - tell me one team who has had a sustained success without spending money?

i have said before this attitude of books first team second maked for a mediocre team,

if we had spent some decent money during Walter Smiths 2nd spell we would have stopped him winning 3 titles and we would be going for 8 in a row this season and on our way to a real world record

Jhedi, I know it's paper money . but at the same time .. in the nineties dermott bought london airport for £25m .. he at the time was worth half a billion .. a decade later he sold it for £750m . and yes it might be paper money . but he must have deposited that money into his bank . and therefore he could withdraw it in notes if he desired . so it is real money..

@6; Not a chance mate. You can bet Mr Desmond would have investment in the purchase price of the London airport purchase.Deals that size are structured to suit corporate investment, The rangers being the latest example, and are normally three to five year investments which are tax efficient. As far as I can remember Mr Desmond made so much from the airport sale because he had all large investors paid well before selling. But remember he still would not have banked any where near £750m from the sale!...........green jhedi

OP

You're grossly overestimating Celtic worldwide support. Not even in the top 15 and as a brand, you're 37th..keep up the good work though...lol

@ 6)....you have a very childlike approach to business. Money from such transactions isn't usually sitting in a bank account somewhere, it will be tied up in other business deals. Do you think he's going to draw it out of an ATM or cash in his ISA or Paddington Bear Saver Plus Double Bonus Account?

Sorry about the late response maestro it's been a long day! It's true what you say the top teams in the the top leagues do need to spend cash to sustain being at the top but we're playing in Scotland and can't afford to splash out on players on big wages who might not produce the goods, we need to stick to bringing in young talent and if they progress then offer them more money or sell them on for a profit

Why should DD spend more money on Celtic ?. Don't matter how much money you have, you have got to look at what you would get out of it. Do we really need to spend more money for the SPL no. That is why DD is a bllionaire he look's at the pro's and con's ie would it be worth it.If your honest you would have to say no, look at Man City the money they spent. As for IF IT WAS ME you don't know what you would do, probably the same as DD because you would have advisor's. Nothing would give me better pleasure than seeing Celtic win the champion's league but I am afraid bhoy's we have to be realistic. We play in Scotland and it's not worth plowing £ after £ into.

chuckles has been on the waccy baccy again, todays delusional fantasy to keep the peepul giving him money . '' i'll build a bigger ibrokes, but wait for it . not just a bigger ibrokes.. bigger than celtics park. and they say we are obsessed. so I suppose he's looking at 65 thousand .. an extra 2,000 in each corner, might as well, none of the tellys work anyway, {and you know how they get with broken tellys} and another 7,000 in a new upper govan. guessing now. £10m ?? . same again to bring the rest of the cowp up to a safe standard, so £20m . where is that coming from ? . now here is where I do my kevin keegan impersonation, and if you could hear it, it's good ........
'' do you know what i'd love ?, i'd love it if they do this, i'd really love it if they do this . because at the same time i'd rebuild the main stand at paradise and take us up to 70,000 . i'd really really love that. but joking aside how on earth can you hold your head up, when this fu**** person is your spokesman.. shammy

@ Shammy; This might be his best piece of fiction yet mate.It is nothing short of laughable that this guy could come away with this.It seems the groundwork for a hike in season ticket prices, for the same product as before, has started. To be fair for once he did not mention Celtic, leave that to the sun, but to talk about Europe when you still have not even published accounts is nonsense.Still no questions from the press or fans of The rangers regarding why they are running at a loss.Did Green not claim they were debt free and cash rich? It seems money is flowing down the marble staircase and out the door at an alarming rate...........green jhedi

The club deck cost approximately 20 million in 1990 so I'd guess that the £20 million estimate you gave is a bit conservative.

Of course he could get the fans to pay for it by selling debentures. How did that work last time?

He did say 'celtic's park' - GJ

Selling their debentures?? Great idea, with no teeth in the way it would make it easier for them to swallow the tripe he spews out on a regular basis!

@2 as our Pat would say.. he could open a Rangers dentist and sell them all blue "debentures" for their mouths lol Timalloy

More like 75m mate. take the tellys away and those stupid big gaps will cost a lot to fill. their just glorified partitions. your looking at 10m to carry out the maintenance. state of the art stadiums are now in the billions. nfl stadiums costing that. look out for charlie pushing a return to standing areas, if he hangs around.
so far he has done nothing at all but collect money from them. nothing at all.

@ Sno Man; No quotations above the words mate. Classic bad reporting tactic.Just the s*n trying to start a fight!.............green jhedi

Guys, the story says ... the proposals swould be likely to give ibrokes more than celtics 60,000 seats . . jhedi you're right . but he wrote the story based on chuckles statement .. same as chuckles saying it .. shammy

Charlie boy won't need £20-30m to upgrade the stadium just get the work done and don't pay anyone that's the norm for them.jimbhoy
