Lennon will always be one of us a true Celtic man, what he has gone through for this club goes beyond the call of duty, do I think he should have gone earlier yes but in his mind he will always think he can change things and I for one hoped he could. On to the next chapter who ever it is will get my backing 100%.

Gérardo seoane Young Boys with a good victory over Bayern Leverkusen away from home, should definitely be looking at him.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - And we can all get Castro or Viva la Revolucion on our tops 👊 Neil Francis Lennon has set the precedent now that all Celtic manager in future shall be referred to with their full name in recognition of some bizarre kind of weirdness.}

25 Feb 2021 20:48:36
Ed i've seen you say a few times you think Keane will be manager next year currently at 14-1 with the bookies surely worth a punt.

{Ed007's Note - Gambling's a mug's game, Ryan.}

25 Feb 2021 20:58:10
No chance it’s Keane or Dermot Desmond either doesn’t know him as well as we’re told because he’s not the man for the job or he’s not as bright as his bank account would suggest.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 22:53:20
Don't know why people take notice of what the bookies think.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Feb 2021 08:25:47
Probably because you never see a bookie going out of buisness Mally😉.

I won £200 on Brendan being next Celtic manager thanks to your info last time Ed 😜.

25 Feb 2021 19:34:50
We need a manager who can steady the ship and take us back to winning the league and then maybe even take us forward in Europe. That's not too much to ask is it lol.

25 Feb 2021 20:27:55
We had one of those.

25 Feb 2021 17:36:01
Well EDs Clarke and Howe have been banded about a lot the pages are a wash with the stories i think if its announced who the DOF is i think this will give us a indication who the manager will be what do you think to that?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Perhaps.}

25 Feb 2021 18:45:24
Out of these 3 names do u think are going to choose David Webb, Fergal Harkin and Matteo Tognozzi?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - None of them.}

25 Feb 2021 19:10:16
Rich T

I’ve been reading all the possible names suggested today and I noticed nobody has mentioned:

1. Ma Uncle Boab
2. Ma Uncle Pat or
3. Ma Uncle Joe

I think my three names are as likely as yours or anybody else’s I’ve heard.

Just putting them out there.

But maybe we should just wait and see.

All will be revealed in due course.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 19:26:46
Man u are linked with the Italian boy so we've no chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think Webb's only being linked because he done an interview on a Celtic podcast - do you think DD would have let that happen if he was planning on appointing him?
Harkin I just don't see it and after speaking to Ed002 I don't think it's realistic and would be a gamble imo.

25 Feb 2021 19:39:06
Who would u have as DOF ED?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Richy, as I've said before I really don't know, the skill set - and specific job requirements at Celtic makes it difficult to know who would be a good or bad appointment:

Typically, a Director of Football, or Sporting Director, will act as a buffer between the Board and the footballing side of the club. He, or she, would typically take responsibility for all footballing aspects of the club – which means the first team and the lower tier teams (although they will have someone who sits as a buffer between him and the ladies and youth teams as well). In all cases the scouting network will report in to the DoF/SP via a Chief Scout and that in many larger clubs is a world-wide operation. In some cases, although typically not in the UK, the Director of Football will look to instilling the same ethos for the game throughout the club’s footballing structure. Examples of this are best seen in the Netherlands with the likes of Marcel Brands when at PSV, Frank Arnesen now at Feyenoord, Martin van Geel and Marc Overmars at Ajax. Similar approaches have been taken in Spain where Txiki Begiristain did the same at Barcelona and is doing the same at Manchester City. Some people, notably Chelsea’s 86 year old chief advisor, Piet de Visser, have claimed that clubs can be far more successful with this approach towards the youngster (it was him who persuaded Mr Abramovich to do what he has with the academy) and he has fought for years to ban all transfers between clubs until players reach the age of 18.
Some coaches do not like working with Sporting Directors, but it is the norm through most of mainland Europe. Some coaches very much want a good Sporting Director to help them out – Mr Mourinho is a good example of that.

25 Feb 2021 21:08:13
Mourinho for boss?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Mourinho HATED living in Manchester and detested the city so I doubt he would fancy rocking up in Glasgow.}

25 Feb 2021 21:15:25
Let's get Charlie Nicholas in as manager and Frank McAvennie and Andy Walker in as his assistant and first team coach.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 21:48:10
No wonder he hated Manchester. Worst rubbishhole I've ever lived in and I've been about.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - London - his favourite base - isn't much better. Just at the folk that live - or kid on they're still alive - in that big Buckingham palace down there.}

25 Feb 2021 23:13:24
The only English cities I liked were Newcastle and Bristol.

Maybe he can do it over zoom?
Honestly I've no idea who we will go for. I've only heard of a few of the suggestions because of being on these pages and the live chat. the last few years I've only really been paying attention to Celtic and the Scottish game so my knowledge outwith that isn't what it was say from late 90's to maybe five years ago.

@Malky, if you remember when Lennon took over after Rodgers, Lennon was playing that way, no doubt influenced by Kennedy.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 17:11:44
Save me the pain for next season. Just read the new manager's name linked to Celtic. It read Former Celtic and Ireland defender Mick Mccarthy is the latest name linked Celtic. At the moment big Mick is taken the English championship by storm and the best thing for Celtic's new CEO is he free at the end of the season which Celtic fans will be delighted to have got an experienced manager for nothing under the nose of other interested parties . And don't get me started on Slippery G saying he is not surprised Neil Lennon got sacked. 😅😅 some neck on him the only way he kept his job is because rangers don't have the money to pay him and his backroom.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2021 17:40:05
What Slippy forgets is that sevco have not got better, we have got worse this season. Lennons downfall was his continuation to play Duffy and a few others who shouldn't be near team.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 18:33:46
The tables say they have got better though phil.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 18:38:55
How have they not got better phil? .
They have improved in Europe and def improved in the league.
Lets not get delusional here that's their job.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 19:33:07
They have got better their not dropping silly points this year and they are beating us, we have definitely went backwards but they have got better too.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 19:37:12
Anybody that didn’t think the gap was closing over the last two seasons was watching a different film from me. They improved evidenced by their consistency this year and their results in Europe and we regressed evidenced by our inconsistency and our results in Europe and now confirmed by the situation in which we currently find ourselves.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 20:05:37
I was watching the same film as you JFP; The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
You know who's who. HH.

25 Feb 2021 21:49:47
They have got better. Look at their numbers. Leave the ranting to them.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 22:15:47
They are virtually same team from last season, there standard was already there and we have got significantly worse this season.

Realistically had they never had run of bad games after Dubai last season, they would of won league last season.

Nothing delusional there as you imply rayman. Am I imagining we are 18 points behind?

Also past few seasons they have done well in Europe, the 4-3-3 works well in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 17:09:41
I know everyone is guessing who the new coach will be but should we not get a director of football in first, especially as he will be directly involved with the coach? Surely they would need to know/ meet whoever they are going to be dealing with directly, if for instance they clash straight away, we could be looking for a new coach soon after appointing him.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2021 20:07:44
Quinn, it's fine, Roy Keane's got a house close to DD so they can easily social distance when finalising the contract (lol) .

I hope Lennedys first day in charge goes well. We will go unbeaten for the rest of the season with the players stepping up and giving us the 'Added Value " we were promised when buying season tickets. No doubt the board would say NL leaving was the "Added Value.

I see that Tom English is up to his old tricks again slagging off the Celtic support in an attempt to somehow appear relevant.

What an embarrassment that man is to the Emerald Isle.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2021 15:10:28
He pops up now and then with negative stories about Celtic. As soon as sevco are in the headlines for wrong doing he only covers the rugby.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 15:51:57
Tom English was one of only four journalist that were sent a dossier about Res.12.
Although they were all presented with damning evidence, the journalists all done nothing.
Last year when Sevco became a laughing stock with their own long awaited dossier and it turned out their smoking gun was only Stewart Robertson,
Tom English incredibly said the SPFL had questions to answer.
The guy is a poor journalist and a clown.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 17:33:34
Robertson and Parke still haven't been hammerd for their pathetic dossier. Their smoking gun that was going to take down Scottish Football was the fake invoice made by a Celtic fan and they fell for it hook line and sinker which left them with nothing but paranoid scrriblings after they learned it was a fake.

I am putting my two cents worth into the mix.
A class manager is a must there are a number of top quality names being mentioned on a lot of web sites.
Money should not be an issue unless it is extortionate.
He should be allowed to bring in his own back room staff But I would like to see Gary Caldwell in some capacity. Gavin Strachan cannot take the blame for this season and could be of use in a new youth setup.
Only the following players should be kept on
Doohan - reserve goalkeeper
O'Conner/ Taylor reserve FBs
Hendry - let's see if he has improved it can happen
Welsh - Reserve defender
Soro - Defensive Midfoelder
Robertson - Reserve midfielder
MacGregor/ Turnbull Attacking Mid
Forrest - Right winger
Johnston - Left winger
I would bring in the following
Foster - Goalkeeper
Two new young tall strong aggresive full backs
McKenna - I know? but would you take him now for this defence
Hamilton - Reserve defender
Liam Morrison - ask him to return from Bayern young defender
Allan Campbell - Browns replacement
Lewis Ferguson - back up midfielder
Lewis Smith - Back up right winger
Robert Loren - Back up left winger
Shankland and Naismith as back up forwards
A top class defender and centre forward 10/ 15 million maybe even try a swap for Moussa Dembele and Edourd.

Glad your not the manager Jonace mate. At first i thought you were at the wind up with some of the names mentioned or maybe you are and i've missed the joke completely.

Agree6 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 16:53:04
I understand your scelticism but if we buy a few cheap scottish players and mix that with real quality foreign buys then that might work very well. Also this is the policy of Ajax and anderlecht.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 17:39:39
I think we are all hoping for a 'Celtic Revolution' similar to when MON took over after the last points hammering in the SPL, or at least a big personality like the previous manager before NL?
As far as players, I think we will have a core of maybe a dozen; not counting current loans, apparent want away's and players who have not impressed enough consistently, or simply won't make the grade or demands at Celtic like:- Hendry, Bayo, Bolingoli, Shved, Johnston, Klimala and Ralston. Then there's players who have been here too long like Griff, Rogic and Bitton, who have had their day and need to make way for younger versions. I would also include Broony in that, but the captain may be of assistance to new boss?
If you take Lennon out of the picture there are still too many at the club right now, who got us into this mess in the first place and we saw this week there's no room for sentiment in failure.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 20:14:18
Jonace, with that list of players we wouldn't have to worry about challenging for the league because we'd be fighting to avoid relegation.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 23:46:37
Only Scottish based players worth a punt are, Nisbet, Doig and Ferguson. Other than that we have better at the club already.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 12:52:58
So if the rumours are true Desmon will pick the next manager, luckily Lawwell is out the picture and won't penny pinch again. Our most successful period in our history came the past few years after spending the cash and getting a real manager of quality in. Even after retaining £9m after the Rodgers fiasco we penny pinched for Lennon and look where that got us.

In reality that should give the board and club as a whole incentive to get out there and pick up a manager of real class.

Rodgers foundations carried Lennon to a 4th treble. As the days went on those foundations began to crumble under complacency at our massive club.

There is no room for error this time round.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2021 10:16:53
Let's hope we get a good manager with our players and develop there potential to top class players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2021 09:31:25
Thought we needed a bit of optimism today.

Whoever comes in does not have a major rebuild despite what some people may say or think.

We still have better players than Rangers and all we need to do is negate their set piece threat and we are back on top.

So first of all we need a keeper that can make saves and defenders who can defend a set piece, the rest is fine.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

25 Feb 2021 09:56:25
I think we are still short of a natural winger, centre half and if we don't sign Kenny full-time, we need a similar quality RB.
Goalkeeper was a glaring weakness as most attempts against us seemed to end up in the net and I agree about our woeful defensive record. Then there's replacing Eddy, Ajer and any other quality departure?
Long term injuries to James Forrest, Jullien and the few inadequate loanees we brought in showed there is still areas that need work.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 10:03:47
I fully expect to see a massive improvement in the performance levels now that Lennon has gone. I bet we don't as big an overhaul as we thought under Lennon👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 10:12:11
You say we are better than rangers what about the other teams in the league. Rangers Did not cause us to lose the league it was all the other teams. That we can omly draw or lose.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 10:54:28
I think there is a major rebuild needed, from players leaving loans going back and quality additions. huge job for new guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 11:12:25
If everyone leaves that's expected it could be a major rebuild:

New GK/ Bain

New RB x 2
Welsh/ New CB x 3
Taylor/ New LB

Soro/ Brown
McGregor/ Turnbull

Forrest/ New RW
New LW x 2

New AM x 2

Ajeti/ New ST

There will be others floating around on the fringes but the likes of Klimala and Johnstone don't fill me with confidence. I'd expect other squad players like Rogic, Bitton etc to be away too.

Maybe get Edouard, Ajer and Christie's contracts extended for another year and it's not quite as bad but that defence needs major work.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 11:17:07

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2021 10:01:23
In my opinion the club (DD especially) will have been working on a replacement for some time as the season deteriorated and it was clear NL would leave. I think the media speculation is in overdrive hoping to hit the bullseye in the dark and the hype is catching.

I loved him as a player but as mpianager not for me. Can we look at at management team who has not played for celtic. LIKE Philip Coco who available and would fix out youth system and fix firts team fitness and play better on football.
Any thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2021 09:00:43
Larsson's managerial record is pretty bad anyway so I reckon that in itself would put paid to him being offered the job. Cocu is an interesting one because he showed what he can do with a club of similar stature in a league of similar stature when he was at PSV. He's had a hard time since but I'd be happy enough with that. I'd also be keen on the Slavia Prague manager as a shout from left field.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 10:47:02
King of Kings, Henke as a player was sublime but as a Manager, shockingly bad. Was he not in charge when his hometown club Helsingborg were relegated in 2016?

The position of strikers coach or as an assistant could work going forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 11:04:37
An experienced individual as D. O. F. and then bringing in someone like Cocu as manager would be a good shout.

He's only 50 yrs of age, has 4 years as assistant coach for the Dutch national team for 4 years under Bert Van Marwijk as well as spending 5 years managing PSV where he won 3 league titles.

His time at Fenerbahce and Derby didn't go as well but all in all I think he'd be a very good fit for us.
