Know nothing about the fella personally but any thoughts on MIKE VAN DER HOORN formerly of Swansea. 6ft 3 plays in a back three. Hard as nails apparently and good in air. Captained them at one point. Free but no idea of wage expectations.

Slugger O'Toole, was drunk as a rule
Good in the air
And as hard as nails
On a free

Aindoh

Slugger o'toole and big shug with the mad dug with Van Der Hoorn providing some guile.

Harry "do you know who I am" Maguire makes LG's antics look almost acceptable.

Correct Pedro, I'm feckin raging at Griff. He's as good as Eddy when he wants to be and he's a waste of talent with his ned behaviour.
If he was on form and playing a good tune I'd happily bet my (paid for) house on us this season. He needs a good feckin kick up the hole. HH.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 21:06:21
Bestybhoy he is not as good as Eddy. a good player on his day but Eddy is a level above.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 21:22:30
SOS, we all have our opinion. I think Griff is the most natural finisher we've had in years. Eddy maybe has a bit more in the creativity department, fair enough, but Griff is an outstanding finisher. And he's a bit special with a dead ball too. HH.

25 Aug 2020 22:06:14
You can't compare them, two different talents.

Griffiths is a solid CF but Edouard is on another level.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2020 08:14:05
Eddy is on another level to most cf to be honest but it's his potential teams are paying for. Eddy will reach the very top like vvd.

25 Aug 2020 23:44:08
Nope, Klopp ain't that mad. He is not as good as he thinks he is. Good moving forward, not great when someone runs at him or turns him. And at cross balls loses his man all too often. Needs to toughen up, Mjallby style.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2020 00:57:16
No chance. No where near good enough.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2020 01:06:25
maybe he should be moved back into the DCM position he is best at instead of the CB where Rodgers decided he was best at.
The boy is a natural there and even captained his previous team at the age of 16 in that position.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 20:30:14
Guys, I think the Turnbull deal is going to get done and I think over the next few years he is going to be outstanding for us. The lad is exceptional in my opinion, however what is happening with Hickey? This boy has the real potential to be an absolute superstar like Turnbull but does anyone have any genuine info (mate down the pub who knows his granny doesn't count! ) about Hickey and whether he's a goer for us or are the media reports pie in the sky?
The Shane Duffy thing has pissed me off. He's no superstar and I'm sure we can pick up an equivalent or better CB elsewhere. HH.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2020 23:47:02
Agree re Hickey. For me it's one we need to take a punt on. Duffy situation seems to be issue between us and WBA rather than player. He is miles better defender than Ajer, Julien or Bitton.

If all the seeded clubs win,
Dynamo Brest of Belarus, Qarabag, Legia Warsaw, Molde or Maccabi-Tel-Aviv.
Playoffs:- Red Star Belgrade, Ludogretes, Young Boys or Slavia Prague.

25 Aug 2020 16:18:29
NL confirms we are in talks with Motherwell. Any idea what hold up is. It was reported yesterday that was case and surely this should be easier to deal with as we have already "bought" him. Just feel when we p1ss about it alerts other teams. We have seen that story before.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2020 17:25:42
Don't imagine it will be the same type of deal as last time so negotiating all over again.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 20:49:54
Chinks it depends on who reported that the deal was nearly done whether it be the press or sky. When it doesn’t happen at that time fans start having a go at Celtic the same fans who are forever saying don’t believe the reports in the press or sky.

25 Aug 2020 13:58:24
The support always brace themselves for a big-summer-sale as the club have become dependant on it for a while now. The last CL campaign to shout about was probably 7-8 years ago and PL does not see us at the same level of the super-rich, so we are run as a development and selling-club, with any European football successes as a bonus, but not essential. It's hard to take and accept and a far-cry from the Lisbons, San Siro's and Sevilles of our unique history, but it's where we are in the economics of UEFA fixed-fixture tournaments.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 13:58:47
Kt and Dembele leaving had nothing to do with not qualifying for the CL.

25 Aug 2020 15:15:09
Cheer up bhoys he's still here 👍.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 17:27:36
Jon if we were qualifying and competing in the Champions League they would have been less likely to leave. Not qualifying and missing out on the 30m plus just makes the decision to sell much easier.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 17:28:13
The last 2 seasons Celtic have failed to qualify for the CL and after we failed,
Celtic sold Dembele and then KT.
They were both sold at their peak value and Edouard is currently at his peak value.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 17:33:38
Partick Thistle were relegated under those same circumstances.
They were only 2 points behind with a game in hand,
Then Thistle were only awarded one and a half average points,
And were relegated by half a point.

Sorry the reply above is for the thread below.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 19:57:15
I think a lot of it is down to the players themselves. Whether we qualify for the Champions league or not we can't pay the wages of clubs in the major European leagues, If players want to earn more money then it's virtually impossible for us to keep them.
I'm not even sure that playing in the Champions league matters to a lot of players these days, it's the money that attracts them.

I was explaining our biggest threat to 10 In A Row over on our discussion page last week.
The fact is if we beat Aberdeen in the semi final, Celtic will go into the New Year with 4 games in hand.
Reports today are suggesting the SPFL want the clubs to allow them the power to finish the season after only 19 games if we have another lockdown.
Which is strange considering if we play each club home and away that would be 22 games.
The problem with that scenario would be Celtic won’t have played 19 league games until the 9th January but Sevco will have played 23 games.
If the SPFL get the power to finish the season early after we have played the game on January 9th, Celtic will lose 6 points on average points.
With a maximum 12 points available for our games in hand, Celtic would only be awarded 6 points on average points.
This could be a possibility because there are no midweek dates available until January.
The Stop The 10 Union Has Started To Unfold.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2020 13:08:25
That would be the only way to stop us and it's very strange it's being considered even before a single supporter has been inside a stadium and clubs are apparently on critical-care alert after the Aberdeen players and bammy Boli caused a near riot.
I suppose it's a possibility the way new cases are sprouting up all over the country - although Aberdeen played a home game on Sunday V Livingston and their city was still locked-down?
Suppose the only certain way to finish the season proper is for the Celtic medical staff to find a vaccine ha ha.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 14:03:16
It will be totally different this season, yes Sevco had a game in hand but they would still have been 10 points behind if they had won it. We might have 4 games in hand but if we win them we could go top.
In they circumstances they couldn't award the league to Sevco.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 15:03:42
Even with a helping hand from SPFL, that mob will still drop points over next few games and we will beat them next old firm. They are rotten lol.

There will be Civil War if that's allowed to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 20:31:15
Paranoia no?
Football will be played ( mainly to keep citizens sane)
The stadiums filling up may go forwards and backwards

But footy won't be stopped

We are playing amidst a C.V. and it won't be pit in reverse as broadly, the C.V. is under control

There won't be a lockdown as per spring in terms of severity . no way.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 20:32:28
Buzz, you're becoming obsessed with the chances of an early finish. HH.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 20:33:20
The SPFL Board should have had meetings to determine what the scenario will be when lockdown part2 happens. All findings should be announced ASAP with this being a season like no other.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 21:11:08
Bob
Average points is the only way Celtic won’t win 10 IAR.
4 games is a lot of games in hand.
I just think Boli has put Celtic under unnecessary pressure.

Lockdown won’t happen on the scale it did before . The economy couldn’t cope with it. So it will be avoided at all costs.

Do we think Eddie will stay beyond the end of the window?
I for one think he will be around for the UCL Qualifiers, after that i can't see the club not selling him as we will take a massive hit in the transfer fee if we wait till end of the season.
Looks like Villa's interest is pretty serious.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2020 11:30:36
If wee don’t make champions league I fear he could be off edouard .

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 11:37:32
If he was staying I think an extension would have been announced. If Villa are offering silly money then he'll be away.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 12:35:34
According to reports we have agreed a £7.2m fee for a striker from the Turkish league. If true then yes Edouard will be sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 12:39:16
Celtic will do what we always do.
If we don’t qualify for the CL group stages.
We will sell a player who is at peak value.
Edouard could be that player because he has only 2 years left on his contract.
If he doesn’t sign an extension and plays the 2020/ 21 season with Celtic, his value will drop going into his final season.
This business plan has worked well for Celtic over the years which has kept a gap between ourselves and our competitors.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 12:46:20
Trabzonspor have come out and rubbishd it the player is going no where .

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 12:49:10
I think Édouard will stay and ajer will be sold.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 13:13:12
There is not as much speculation over Ajer or Ntcham; whereas the Eddy stories are being pushed into overdrive - as you would expect from our 'media mates'. I still think we will do as we have done for the last few years and sell-big in the summer and Eddy is BIG.
As long as we get the quality in the door for the other positions we urgently need and replace Eddy if and when - then we will be fine.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 20:26:01
Hope Ajer is sold and not Edouard.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 20:28:52
I think we will get

UcL qualification and new contract
He will see out 10iar

He will go next year . but may have 2 to 3 suitors at christmas that he actually wants to move to

This is the issue. he wants to go to the RIGHT club and is happy enough and young enough to continue to develop and enjoy his time at Celtic

The new contract will be all about release clauses and " nominated clubs by his agents" giving eddy the option

Basically

He's happy
He wants to move to a bigger club

He needs another crack at UCL or Europa to demonstrate full talent

Celtic confident that a new contract will ensue

This will ALL CHANGE if we get put out of europe .

I still think he will go to Italy or france incidentally . eventually.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2020 11:20:03
Ajer, Rogic, Bolingoli will all leave this window I think. Hickey and Turnbull in looking likely. Duffy deal not done and a couple of fall back options for CH/ CD. If another striker comes in then Edouard could be away for big money but equally Griffiths is on his last chance and Ekuban is right sided so could slot in at RW to push James Forrest.

25 Aug 2020 09:00:10
Now with the number of subs allowed (5) albeit limited to 3 interventions for substitutions in the 90 minutes, it is creating a tremendous level of upheaval in the final 15 minutes .

You could have 10 new players theoretically on the park for the last 15 minutes

It's not ideal. part of me thinks the conventional 65 minutes plus for sub activity is a bit old fashioned

Part of me thinks players being hooked at half time is better . even 1 or 2 .

I know we delay because of red cards and new systems and injuries but when we need a goal, I think we need to GO EARLIER generally.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2020 08:12:55
A good spine of the team could be taking shape Barkas hopefully Duffy adding Turnbull to a good midfield core. Ajeti Edouard. Another LB and winger would be a tremendous transfer window.

Celtic fans TV interviewed a Hungarian journalist about the game on Wednesday.
He mentioned they play a 4-2-3-1 and the 2 wide players are dangerous although he thinks the right sided player is injured.
He said they like to cut inside and shoot from distance.
The journalists thinks if Celtic play with a high intensity we will win.
Hungarian Football is played at a slower tempo and he reckons they could struggle with a high tempo game.
Another positive is Ferencvaros have only played 2 domestic games this season.
