On back shift tonight listened to the Radio Clyde phone in , every second call theres a Zombie on the phone greetin about Celtic getting praise for last night's performance .... they wanted to know why as the late Rangers FC got slated for boring the sh*te out of us home and away for years in Europe under Sir Watty De Cardigan , my favourite call was the one where this clown said all the teams "Sellik" have played urny up tae much and that Barca urny the best team in the world and are boring tae watch coz they pass the baw too much wha , no wonder everybody's rippin the pish out yous , mind you yous lot think a big blooter up the park is how the game should be played lol

Believable12 Unbelievable0

Heard it too,at the time of the man utd and barca games only heard things like "watty goat his tactics spot on",amazing that aint it,that some people go on fone ins and slag us off for last nights performance aligning us with a bunch of cheating b@$7@rds
who could only compete by bringing in EBT mercenaries.

Green Judge

Agree7 Disagree1

I only listened to the later part of the phone in. Gets to me to much but heard a few rangers fans saying rangers parked the bus and got slated for it... The difference is rangers done it in every game in Europe! Teams bigger than celtic have gone to camp nou and got hammered in fact the odds for celtic to get beat 5-0 was 8/1. When the group was first published everyone knew Barcelona would get full points just about out of the group. Like it or lump it celtic put Scottish football back on the map.

Lenny

Agree6 Disagree1

Well after our first defeat in Europe this season to the favourites to win the competition and reading/listening to some of the comments from the supporters of a Div 3 team, think that well and truly puts paid to this strange belief supporters of SPL clubs have an obsession with the biggest shameful collapse in Scottish football history and now shows it for what it really is an interest to us that is nothing more than comical.

To compare one Champions League game to a 2008 UEFA cup run is yet againcomical.

Mrs E

Agree8 Disagree0

It's not a mystery that pretty well most things genuinely seem to be a mystery to... DERANGERS.

Just when you thought the universe had run out of jokes to play, they've been allowed to morph into (and let's give a warm welcome to)... DERANGERS FC.

The universe laughs, the bears scratch their heads.

Agree6 Disagree0

Anti football's an absolute disgrace to the game no matter who plays it. Anyone who thinks otherwise has either blue or green tinted glasses on. It's a total embarassment that any Scottish supporter could walk away feeling any sort pride with how Celtic played Tues night. Remember now, the tactics didn't work... they lost. Before anyone takes the huff and accuses me of being a disgruntled Bear, I felt the same after the UEFA cup run and our own games against Barca/Man Utd. It's a sad day when either set of supporters can walk away feeling that their club has achieved something playing that style of fitba ... VHSS

Agree0 Disagree1

Aw for goodness sake...this was ONE game against Barcelona so defending well is very much something you have to do. We lost Sammy and Scott Brown so I am not emabarrassed by the result or Celtic's fantastic defensive display.

Celtic do not play anti-football, any decent football supporter knows that.

In the words of ITV (not just the Scottish variety):-

'Celtic by far the most impressive British team in the Champions League this week, followed by Man Utd and then a large gap to the rest'

Mrs E

Agree2 Disagree2

To the person who disagreed.... so much for not being in awe of the shirt ! VHSS

Agree0 Disagree1

Mrs E... no decent football fan anywhere would call what Celtic played on Tuesday ... football. VHSS

Agree0 Disagree2

Well I'm at least glad you are recognising it as one night and one game of football.

Its evident anyway you are very annoyed Celtic did not succumb to a humiliating defeat at the Nou Camp and they received praise for their performance. If it wasn't football, what was it ? There was 3 goals with both teams scoring. Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

You're missing my point Mrs E. Just because the scoreline may not have reflected it, I truely believe it was an embarassing but accurate statement of just how poor Scottish fitba really is. VHSS

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not missing your point at all.

You have come out and had a go at Celtic just after their first European defeat this season, which just happened to be at the Nou Camp.

Celtic do not play this anti-football you speak of.

As you are talking about 'points' what stat gets the points ? It certainly ain't possession, I believe its the scoreline but hey i'm female what do I know about football.

Incidentally, I hear the scoreline at Ibrox was flattering last week. Maybe Ally should give the 3 points back as it was not a true reflection. Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Mrs E.. really now ! I expected better from you VHSS

ED001 is a big baby who doesn't post banter on this supposed banter site. He probably posts his own comments and agrees with them, typical sort of action that your average smeltic supporter gets up to.

{Ed007's Note - I'll pass on your adult orientated post to the Ed that has nothing at all to do with your post. He would probably tell you what I will, you should maybe try and find out what banter is, because if this anything to go by you are miles away, miles!!! Unless you are about 12/13 but you don't come across as that intelligent. THIS IS FROM ED007, NOT ED001, GO 6 FINGERS FURTHER ON USING THE SAME HAND. ED007, read that a few times if you are struggling, you'll get the hang of it soon. And just to confuse things even more I wasn't online a lot of the day, the plot thickens eh?}

can I ask all Celtic fans going to the return game with the mighty barca to have their players who we are in awe of and the whole football world to be in awe of us by having the loudest and most amazing sight in football by doing the champions league huddle just before kick off and obv during the match ,no matter what the score may be no one expects anything from us anyhow ( would love to win tho) but to give fans all over the world to see how truly great our club and supporters really are. c mon the hoops. tommybhoy

I think after the showing last night that it is absolutely essential that Celtic do everything they can to keep John Park. When you look at the quality of the Celtic squad relative to the cost of putting it together and it is obvious we have a genius on our hands. What about a demonstration at our next home game? A banner or two saying Park must stay? Any Green brigade types on here?

Mac

Relax mate, he's under contract and Lennon had him onto the pitch at Kilmarnock last season when we won the league to show appreciation. He knows he's wanted at Celtic. Someone mentions it every night on the phone ins.

Agree6 Disagree0

True he has a contract of employment like me or you but the big fear is that someone could offer him the same job with higher wages and all he would need to do is hand his notice in just the same way we do. I doubt he has a different typeof contract like a player or manager.

Totally gutted by last minute goal, but so proud of the Celtic players.
We made Barca work hard the whole game and cannot grudge them the win, as they were the better team.
Looking forward to two weeks time, Celtic Park will be rocking...
Also want to say a big well done to the stadium announcer, playing all the
Celtic songs after the game. I hope Celtic reciprocate and play Barca songs
when they visit us. hail hail Timalloy

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Argee totally with you this time. Think that's been our best back 4 in I don't know how many years! Held them for long enough though we would get a point at Parkhead before a ball was kicked last night. Good experience for everyone involved.

Also the GB are meant to be pulling out all of the stops for when barca come to celtic park heard something along the lies of its to do with the 125 years.

I'm sure we will return the songs to barca when they come. On the plus side celtic are the only team of 2012 to stop Messi getting a goal or a assist means nothing in the group but shows how good we played last night

got to ber in mind the first goal was class from the 3 top players in the world "fact" although victor lost his man for 1 second and we got punished frustration at losing goals in last minute of both halfs this seems to be a trait even at home.

lustig posted missing for 2nd goal constantly out of position still if we can get at them at cp with their inexperienced defence could get a result finally get out to the match this weekend and show ho proud we were of the boys ad finish this attendance nonsence one and for all

The most important lesson we should take from this is how important it is to keep hold of the ball. Watching both Spain and Barca, they don't fear passing to marked man, they keep it one touch and always on the move, so very difficult to close down.Without being too critical, ball retention, or lack of it was our biggest problem and this gave us very little respite and although we did very well, it was like watching the "alamo", with the inevitable ending. Also a very big learning experience.

Celtic players have went from been in the Tesco Express window to been in Harrods window after that performance .NL PL and the Celtic board will have to pull out all the stops to hang on to as many as possible of this current squad ...Hasnt been one as good around for quite a while .
Good thing about the whole think ,the sort of players Celtic are trying to attract (the cream of European youth) will have watched that game last night and thought ,that wouldnt be a bad move and the ones not solely motivated by money will be saying ,good career move that.

I can imagine Celtic been alot more successful now ,on and off the field as NL and PL long term plans start to fall into place and they plot out the future for CFC.

It will be a real pleasure to visit Celtic Park and feel the atmosphere of a great UEFA Champions League venue.

The Celtic supporters are fantastic, in fact the best travelling supporters in the world as we have seen many times.

I know that Celtic supporters are extermely passionate about their club , a club which I believe, like FC Barcelona, is different.

We know that supporters will travel in huge numbers to follow their team, but we also know the great reputation of good behaviour which Celtic fans enjoy and clearly we are looking forward to hosting Celtic fans in the City once again.

We hope all Celtic supporters enjoy their visit to Barcelona.

Gers fan here, must say that you were so unfortunate to lose in the last minute. Thought Wanyama, Ambrose were superb.

Artybhoy you usually come out with good posts mate but this one was made up with too many pints of Birmingham beer I'm afraid. Young Forrest was defo to blame for the 2nd goal... As for big Fraser, well he stopped the rot and is miles better than Harte. Harte might look good against Lichtenstein and Moldova but when, has he EVER played against the best team in the world?....NEVER is the answer you are looking for.

Briggs

Believable3 Unbelievable1

'Forrest is defo to blame'.....would love to hear an explanation for that one. 1. Why is someone always to blame? cant you just accept that it was a great ball in? 2. Isnt Forrest a winger? If you really feel the need to blame someone should it not be a defender? 3. Numerous times last night Forrest busted a gut to get back and put in tackles so to blame him for not managing to get the foot in that time is just pathetic.

Mikey Bhoy

Agree2 Disagree3

It's all about opinions mickey and I think wee Forrest could have done better at getting a bit closer to their player. Lennon even said we went to sleep for the last 30secs so is he wrong? Forrest did,as you say bust a gut but is that not what he's paid to do? Still proud of the players and manager.

Briggs

Its fair enough to have an opinion but just pisses me off when everyone has to lay the blame at one bhoy. Win as a team, lose as a team....blaming individuals isnt very fair

If you blame him your a t!t, what about the free kicks he won us with his running that gave us a couple of chances from set pieces? No mention on how good he was playing, and the goal would not have happened if Ledley wasn't fouled and the guy had room to send in that last cross.
