same old atletico win at all costs shocking tackles leaving their feet in after challenges aided by poor ref if they win like this football is going backwards. (ed hope you are happy)

Altheticco scoring the goal almost killed the game, as they became more and more cynical as the game went on . Their Manager didn't really behave in an appropiate manner, it will be interesting to see if he is punished .

St Mirren ex manager Danny Lennon has said he is willing to take the managers job at Celtic. But only if he can change his first name to Neil and keep the past records of the departing boss. The SFA have said they have no problem with him doing this but they would be known as Oldco Neil Lennon and Newco Neil Lennon!

'Football is for men, **** you Billy McNeill' A banner amongst the athletico fans. Need I say c'mon REAL!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - ¡¡Hala Madrid!!

Greedy Bale seems to have cost Real the game ED. Three times he could have slipped a player in and went for a shot, and a tame one at that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I take it all back about what I said about athletico time to forgive n forget about 74 ., in the immortal words off our forefathers UP YOURS, c'mon Real Madrid

four possible "realistic" outside contenders for the managers job at CP

Vitor Pereira
Murat Yakin
Paul Clement (that would be an interesting one!)
Steve McClaren

three likely candidates

David Moyes
Malky McKay
Stevie Clarke
Henrik Larsson

it cannot and should not be

Jackie McN
Owen Coyle

It will therefore likely be

Owen Coyle (ha!)

Now that Derby aren't going up the board should go for McLaren. I have been watching him since the England fiasco and he is a top drawer managercoach. I think it is about time the board went for someone who has been around, seen it all and knows how to handle it. He took Twente from nowhere and they won the league twice. Larsson, McNamara, Coyle, Mackay, sorry but none of them have the experience needed to manage at Celtic. When NL took over we were on the ropes, he got the fans back behind the club but we have become consistently disillusioned with the brand of football we play. Now is the time for someone who knows how to set a team up, a team that can dominate games with fast free flowing football and also someone with European experience. All the names other than Moyes have all been fighting relegation, they wouldn't be able to rely on their experiences when they are at the top table in Europe. If they won't do that then Stevie Clarke as head coach and a top drawer Director of Football, Glenn Hoddle or John Collins for me.

mcclaren is a very good shout…when I posted earlier he was in my thoughts but because of the big match today I didn't put it forward

I think he would like the prestige of the job

a brave appointment would be john collins ….but I would get behind that too

Agree0 Disagree0

I've got a sneaky feeling that Roy Keane is going to be manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could you lose that sneaky feeling as I thing Roy Keane would be a bad choice.

Just read a blog from Matt McGlone on the Lennon situation, standard stuff but with an interesting aside. As we all know Lenny was on a rolling contract, if he left of his own accord we were due to pay him nothing, but if Celtic sacked him he was due one years wages. This contract also meant that if a club wanted him they were due to pay us one years wages as compensation.

In the piece Matt claims that Celtic and Lenny agreed a pay off, my question would be why? If Lenny did indeed leave of his own accord why would we agree a pay off?Given the fiscal prudence the Celtic board show why on earth would we be paying cash to an employee who wants to leave?

Does this point to a 'hush hush' payment or had this been on the cards since big Dolph left? Have the board, and by the board I of course mean Mr Lawwell and Mr Desmond, been cute here? Were there behind the scenes unhappiness with the performance of Lenny? ED007 has already alluded to a board member being critical of him was this partly responsible for his decision?

Having been a defender of the board on a few occasions I find this frustrating. There seems to be an unwillingness to be open with our fans from the boardroom, illustrated perfectly with the story of the SPL PAYING a broadcaster to show sevco matches. Celtic had a representative on the panel who agreed this nonsense but not a cheep since the story broke.

You want bums on seats at Celtic Park, then rid the game, aggressively if need be, of this blatant bias shown to a club that are two years old.Start engaging properly with the fans all we ask is the truth and fair play.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Madyin…emery good shout

Tam…Celtic need a re-emerging / re-energised rangers …one keeps the other going and the more one invests (properly) the more the other needs to push on

celtic and rangers are scottish football and anyone who doesn't believe this from a "competition" perspective needs their heads looked at ….rangers are where they deserve to be but I know that celtic will be better off for the competition when they come back as they surely will

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Paradise won I am not missing them at all, as far as this Celt is concerned there is no old firm, we did not need them for competition this year we got plenty on the domestic front, stop listening to the Rangers media propoganda machine, they are NOT needed

Not a rumour, just a question Instead of looking at all these mangers that you really don't want. Could celtic not try and tempt mjallby to stay. None of the names so far are causing any excitement right now.

Dear Ed

The next managerial appointment will have to meet some pretty rigorous criteria;

(1) the appointment MUST enhance scope for regular and corporate season ticket sales (2) the appointment should have a track record in buying well on the "value for money & re-sale" side of the football operation (3) they will have a European track-record because non CL qualification WILL set us back and provide a boost to any re-emerging Rangers side (4) the manager should have a pedigree for expansive, attractive "winning" football (linked to point (1), and (5) the appointment should AIM to up the ante relative to Rangers ambitions as two hungry halves of the old firm equals TV gold and boosted revenues which provide the basis for bigger and better squads and more scope to compete in Europe's bigger leagues.

My vote: Marco Van Basten or Ernesto Valverde or David Moyes

the Board have a chance to say out loud "the future could be brighter" or confirm our worst fears that "the down-sizing will continue"

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unai emery the only guy that fits all the above

Agree0 Disagree0

What is this old firm scenario your talking about? It would appear their propoganda is even getting through to some of us now, as for the rest of your post tell me who will live up to that expectation, don't get me wrong would love that part of your post to come true but sadly can't see it

Oscar Garcia seems keen on the job. Given his time at Barcelona you'd think we'd be treated to a style of play we've never seen in Scotland. Certainly think he would do a good job and entertain us. Still, of all the names who seem like realistic candidates Moyes is by far the best! Do you think he'd be interested Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Moyes? I think he would be interested if the board are willing to back him with investment in the team.}

Just having a look at some of the Nike WC jerseys to try n get an idea what out new away kits could look like, hopefully the design is the same as the Greece kits except white w/ green n black w/ green or white.

Ed or anyone else had the chance to read Oscar Garcia's interview in the mail today. Was impressed with what he had to say on passing attacking football and also bring through youth players. He's had relative success where ever he has went working to a budget. He must surely be near the top of our list.

was certainly a good interview and I liked the way he spoke both of the club and his view on how he would have us playing

I had Koeman + Bilic (pipedreams) ahead of him for the job, but that interview's really impressed me. If we don't get him in I'll feel like it's another opportunity missed!

Owen Coyle says managing Celtic would be a "huge job" after the 47-year-old emerged as one of the bookies' favourites to succeed Neil Lennon.

HELL NO!

All betting sites have taken the odds down for the next Celtic manager dose this mean we have our next manager but just waiting to tell is who it is?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lawwell told ssn yesterday afternoon they haven't approached anyone + he was just going into a meeting to draw up a list of candidates, so it's upto you if you believe him or not? I know I don't, I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

Agree0 Disagree0

And being quite a heavy bloke, you would't throw him far. Why do I get the feeling we are in for a massive disappointment?

Agree0 Disagree0

Because Peter Lawwell is all about what's "best for business" rather than what's best for football n fans!

I wish all Celtic fans would take a reality check. We are a huge club in Scotland. 60,000 capacity and a worldwide fan base of millions. But we still only get 2 ½ million guaranteed income from TV rights. So we exist on season tickets, player transfers and replica shirts. Champion's league money keeps our club alive. The Sevco tribute act lost out one season on Champions league money and went belly up. They had banked on that money. Tomorrow the most valuable football game in the world takes place. Not the Champions league final between Athletico and Real Madrid arguably two of the best teams in the world. But between QPR and Derby County. The winners are guaranteed 140 million pounds of Sky money. (60 million pounds for joining the EPL and two years of parachute money at 40 million a year courtesy of Sky.). The likely winners QPR will then be able to invite players us Tim fans can only dream about to play at Loftus Road in front of their massive stadium capacity of 18, 459.
Until we gain admission not to the EPL but to that Sky money our team is finished. And no Manager, player or anything else will ever change that.

{Ed007's Note - Is that you Pedro? Remember to switch the heated driveway on before you go to bed.}

Good post and great response! Seriously as one of the biggest cities in the uk it's pants that hull, Sunderland, Cardiff, Swansea, Wigan etc etc etc get the type of TV money they do. Sadly it won't change as these piddly teams fear celtic etc, as given their fan base and tv revenue (in EPL) they would challenge them all. Looking after their own interests and keeping other down. In my opinion the uefa man city fine should be distributed among champions of the lower standing European teams to help level the playing field. Otherwise where is it going?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Cardinal. However, it's being distributed between the teams in the same league as them.

Anyone any idea what Roberto Di Matteo is doing right now? Do, you reckon he's a worthy candidate? European experience and worked to a tight budget at WBA. Learnt thro various managers at Chelski. Of all the names put forward how many have had European and domestic (UK) experience?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good shout andy a wouldn't be unhappy with him but a doubt we could afford his wages

Di Matteo is a quality suggestion mate
