I think that Brendan should be looking at a real expeirienced centre half to come in and start every week, a new right back is definetley needed and a consistent keeper to hold down that No1 slot. Looks like Gordon and Dorus are getting pushed out while they are injured, Bain doing a great job so far.

I'm totally with the keeper, centre back and right back everybody keeps talking about. But for me we need an attacking creative influence just as much.

That’s what musonda was supposed to be here for Jim! The wee mans looked well short so far but! New RB, commanding centre half and keeper to fight it out with Bain for next season!

What about Gamboa. Did well last night at Hampden by all accounts. Didn't see the game so are the reports wrong?

So we have Christie back from Aberdeen, and Lewis Morgan back from St Mirren.
Do these guys walk into the 1st team? Poss Christie with Rogic and Armstrong going?
and Morgan to fill in for PR when he leaves.

I would like Bain to sign on a Perm deal. Although is he at a high enough standard for the CL?

Also a RB quality player?
Also we have Hendry and Aje@ CB, they are young but have pace and I see them there long term.

Im sure BR will punt a few players that he sees no making the grade.

I think we should push the boat out to sign Odsonne Edouard, it won't be the £7m it will be cheaper than that IMHO.

And Im certain BR will have a few other targets up his Sleeve.

Just a few thoughts folk.

I don't think that defending is Brendan Rodgers's strong point.
When he was at Liverpool it was the area which cost them winning the league. I remember a match towards the end of that season where they let a 3-0 lead go against Crystal Palace late in the match, that was what did for them at the end.
I think we should look at John Kennedy's position. He doesn't seem to have vastly improved most of our defenders, Ajer's improvement seems to have happened while he was out on loan, players like Boyata, Sviatchenco, (when he was here) and Jozo, do not seem to have progressed to any great degree and they are making stupid individual errors which have cost us, especially in Europe.
We as a club can't buy the elite players, we have to buy players and improve them with good coaching. I'm not sure that Kennedy is doing that with the defence.

You raise a good point about BR and defending gerry. Although I think that scoring more than your opponent is the essence of the game, he had more accomplished CBs than we do; Skrtel, Agger, a better Toure etc. Yet they were never a 'sid', 'hard to beat' side from what I recall.

Lh, there's time for Musonda yet. I was excited when he came in. But I remember saying also that the rest of this season (whether it be on the training field or not) was about getting him up to speed, for next season. The Scottish game, manager's plans etc. Not that this is an excuse for him, but some of his link up play in his early performances was actually too quick for the rest of our players. I think with the right coaching, and providing he doesn't get caught in possession, which will be worked on, he could still be a fine addition. The team as a whole, whether it be Sinclair, Forrest, Paddy or Musonda, when we get doubled up on, need to just have the tactical awareness to use the gaps.

I don't think Brendan Rodgers plays in our defence, so I don't think he can take the credit, despite playing attacking football with two attacking wingers, we have conceded far less goals domestically than any other SPL team . Of course we have, what people on here refer to as bombscares at centre back and according to most experts on here, we have only had a goalie worth the name of a goalie in the last three games .
Taking all the negatives into consideration, someone somewhere must be doing a good job.

Ajer was fantastic for Norway, against Australia yesterday. It didn't look mike his debut and was bossing the defence and was dangerous when he carried the ball forward.
Looked like he played there for years.

He is a big talent and I am grateful to Deila for bringing him to celtic.

I can see this kid going to the very top as he has the ability and the correct attitude.

A right back and centre half in the summer and with KT and Ajer and pissibly Hendry, we might avoid getting horsed in Europe. A new keeper too would be great, we can dream. Surely now Brendan realises he has no choice but to bring in players who step right in. Ajer looking more and more Ike the real deal. Another two and domestic domination assured with real hope in Europe.

Well said RAW Deila deserves enormous credit for bringing him to CP. I hope we tie him down soon because it is now a matter of who plays beside him.

Two many. Posters jump in, without thinking carefully, Ajer is a perfect example of buying a young lad and spending a couple of years modelling and developing him into the player the manager wants .
Scot Sinclair is a wonderful example of the Manager buying a player who hits the ground running and became player of the season in his first year .
We have bought numerous youngsters and numerous experience players who for whatever reason have failed to become at Celtic the player the manager hoped he would come . There is no set way of buying success but if a club wants a good fully developed player for any position with a decent chance of doing a decent job in Europe the price will start at around £10 m and we don't and won't have many £10 m to hand- out, no matter how confident we are of buying a star for Europe .
We will have to start with players in various stages of development and do our best to bring them on like Ajer . We will need good players coming through every year, so don't worry if they arn't all ready for next season.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there talk of Cristophe Ajer Captaining Norway at the very early age of 16 when RD brought him to Parkhead .?

Not often do I agree with Chris but he is spot on this occasion I would be happy with the team ww need a gGK but Bain reminds me already of a thinner Artur Boruc he clearly has strong hands and very comfortable with the catch so give him a chance but I would be delighted at blowing our budget on Danny Ward

Then I would wait till Christmas and sign John McGinn, James MacLean and Cedric Kipre all on Bosman"s (Y)

The Sno Man. He was captain for his side Start a few times at the age of 17, and has been captain for his norwegia youth setup sides. He has only played one game for Norway's first team, and looked more a captain than any player.

I said when you signed him that he could become Norways captain for years to come and i think he will.

To be captain at Celtic at the age of 19 is not reasonable, but if he stays with you for a long time, he could be your captain eventually.

I don't doubt Ajer has all the credentials to make a great captain one day. However, as long as Tierney is there I don't see him doing it at Celtic, as Tierney looks like the natural successor to Brown.
