Watching the shambles that is England's u21 side. These boys are on funny money and when anyone says what we all think and that England just ain't good enough and the quality isn't there they get shunted off sky. The games on bt sport mind you and mcmanaman is slating them. However They are now claiming that it's because guys like sterling and barkley ain't there. It's actually laughable that they think they going to win these tournaments the epl is the best in the world etc. for the past 3 years the epl has been on the decline yet wages are going up and fees more inflated. the quality of football is terrible sky marketing guys deserve a massive amount of credit for making people believe they are providing the best football league in the world

Love watchn them getting humped! Even the under 21s! Harry Kane 40 million! Like I've always said, the EPL is the most over rated league in world football! Take out your hazards and agueros and it would be nothing! The German and Spanish leagues are miles ahead! With more home grown talent in both leagues! Without doubt the English are the most aggorant delusional half wits I've ever heard! From there ex pros turned pundits to the papers and idiots who write in them!

I love watching England getting pumped as much as the next man but that makes no sense wizz , what would Spanish football be without the likes of messi and Ronaldo? And watching Portugal v Sweden it was a disgrace seeing those teams play for a draw from the first minutes, that was not in the spirit of the game .

25 Jun 2015 11:02:07
How does it make no sense! Take Ronaldo and messi out the Spanish league and Uve still got iniesta pique alba Ramos Isco pedro ect! Take robben and Ribery out of the German league Uve still got muller neur Goetze lahm Reus and boateng!! All Spanish and German internationals playin in there top teams! What English players have u got to look to if aguero Sanchez hazard and Costa were to leave? And how many top english players play abroad??

This is a query I would wish for fellow buoys and ghirls to comment upon, chiefly:

Who was the last summer signing who made a material impact on our ECL qualification prospects?

Assuming no more departures, I believe we are just about there in terms of sufficient quality, with the potential exception of a striker (that fits the system, IE 1 up top who can play link-up and score for fun in the penalty area), a left back and a "creative" winger.

It may be that GMS more than fits the bill, and it may be that Izzy is in fact, good enough to see us through given that he makes up for the lack of creativity in wide areas (going forward) but lacks discipline at the back.

Hi Paradise, For me the best player in our last CL campaign was easily Lustig by a mile he showed he could be counted upon at that level

It is essential IMO we keep him fit this season in another thread a few days ago a think you Ed indicated that you seen him getting moved into CH position to alleviate the wear & tear aspect and the rigours of playing wingback

Lad is a class act who does not get enough credit in my opinion but that is probably due to his injury record!

ATVB JB7

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Lustig himself has said for fitness reasons he sees himself playing long term as a CB, playing as a FB is aggravating his hip a lot more than playing in the middle would. I said months ago that I could see either Lustig or Matthews leaving and with QPR now sniffing around Matthews it would explain our interest in Janko at Man Utd.}

24 Jun 2015 22:41:24
Would not bother me losing Matthews Ed if am honest, Much prefer to keep Lustig. Having said that don't think we can through a season with two injury prone FB's like they are

Often thought that Izzy must go through the season playing more game time than the other two put together?

Any potential LB coming in must know his actual game time would be limited surely

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's why I can't see Halstenberg signing for us, Jamie, unless there's maybe a bid for Izaguirre in the pipeline?

25 Jun 2015 00:13:21
Is it definite interest in janko?, and lustig would easily slot in at the back IMO he's one of the most reliable players at CFC at the moment

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I was told about interest in Janko over the weekend but just dismissed it as BS, I knew he was available but didn't see why we would be interested. Just because there is an interest doesn't really mean much, it can be as fragile a link as if X leaves and we can't get Y we'll try and get Z instead. Clubs have interest in loads of players that never come to anything, Janko will become a possibility if CFC are looking for a RB.

25 Jun 2015 11:09:02
Glasgow shamrock you're having a laugh saying lustig is the most reliable player at celtic! No one doubts his ability but the guy should be sold IMO as he is the least reliable player due to injuries which no one can be certain he will shrug off this season. The only player with a worse injury record was derk and we all know what his nickname was,and Matthews who s job sharing the right back position

Hi Ed, Do you know who our potential opponents will be if we reach the play off round? I remember reading it a while back but can't find it anywhere and remember the first 2 rounds being comfortable opponents

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Not off the top of my head, sorry. Can we tell so far in front?}

24 Jun 2015 20:44:48
We can only play champions of the leagues that did not get automatic entry into the group stages.

If you google "2015–16 UEFA Champions League qualifying phase and play-off round" you will see a list of teams that we can meet.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 21:18:39
bravetart86, it is all seeds based

celtic are 5th seeds overall and enter in round 2

5 teams qualify from the champions path so 10 teams play in the play off round …5 matches (all 10 teams will be champions of their respective leagues)

celtic can only play other champions

if we get through round 2 and round 3 and in to play off round (and assuming every other seed goes through in order of seeding), then we would play any 1 of 5 teams seeded from seeds 6 to 10 ….

in play off round we would be in pot 1 with top 5 seeds and then there would be a pot 2 with next best seeds etc

to reiterate, if it all goes according to current coefficients and seedings, CFC would play either seed 6,7,8,9 or 10….

seed 1 FC Basel 1893 (SUI) 84.875
seed 2 FC Salzburg (AUT) 43.135
seed 3 FC Viktoria Plzeň (CZE) 41.825
seed 4 FC Steaua Bucureşti (ROU) 40.259
seed 5 Celtic FC (SCO) 39.080
seed 6 APOEL FC (CYP)
seed 7 FC BATE Borisov (BLR) 35.150
seed 8 FC Ludogorets Razgrad (BUL) 25.250
seed 9 GNK Dinamo Zagreb (CRO) 24.700
seed 10 NK Maribor (SVN) 22.225

I think we would want Ludogorets or Maribor

{Ed007's Note - Cheers for that buddy (yes)

Nice one paradisewon! Good bit of info there bud! Couple of half decent teams we could play there! But again if we can't get by these teams then we don't deserve to be in the CL! Think your rite ludogorets and Maribor would be the easier games! Said that last season but haha! With a year behind us and a much more settled team I fancy us to do it this year! A striker with sum pedigree would make me feel even more confident!

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Jun 2015 05:37:18
Ludogorets looked good against Liverpool though, I would love revenge on Maribor. I think I seen we could possible face Lech Poznan in the next round? That would be one hell of a bouncy

25 Jun 2015 07:01:25
This year is different from last year as they put teams into regional groups. This meant you could only play a team from your group which was designed to reduce travelling. Not sure if this will apply to the third round as well.

25 Jun 2015 09:24:45
Only applies to 2nd round rab and 1st

Its good in some ways as to rumours as to who is coming and who is going but how many new players can any one see come in before the second round qualifiers
I think 2 new players not to sure as to who or what position but I think 2 will come in for first team or really challenging for first team starts what do the rest of you think?

Hearing that wee gonk mcann on sly sports spouting his usual pish! Danny maldini,I mean Wilson! Knocked back the champions league with us to go to the championship with sevco!! How does this wee fanny get a platform to constantly talk garbage! Bawbag!!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Danny Wilson was only ever a name on a list at CFC, there was never any contact made in regards us signing even though his agent told him there was, there was a general enquiry months ago about the type of financial package Wilson was looking for and that was that.
He left Hearts expecting CFC to make a move and when they didn't him and his agent went scurrying back to Hearts who hunted them with more than a flea in their ear from Levein. The only English side to show any real interest was Mowbray's Coventry but they decided against offering Wilson any deal.
Why hasn't Wilson himself mentioned an offer from CFC? Because there never was one, that's why.
Did McCann also mention that when Sevco are enquiring about players clubs are demanding all monies be paid in full up front? They can't afford to bid for Scott Alan until season ticket money is in or they get another loan. Allan is another player the media linked us with so that if/when he signs for Sevco they can spin it that they geat us to his signature. It's all PR spin by Jabba to help punt season tickets which I've heard hasn't even reached 12, 000 yet. Where's the pictures of the Klan queuing up for their tickets with the listed building demolisher Dougie Park handing out cups of tea?}

24 Jun 2015 14:05:30
Well put ED! Just Cannae stand a wee fanny like mcann or the other sevconians they wheel out spouting there Pish! Also that sevco are massive favourites now for the championship because they've signed these 3 diddies! It's actually embarssing the crap they come out with! Any more word on vossen ED? I know its been said he's told friends he wants to move to us and on a couple of the other sites has said he's off to us.now I hear genk are offering him a new deal.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I don't know anything about Genk offering Vossen a new contract but they are close to finalising a deal for Igor de Camargo from Standard Liege who is more than likely Vossen's replacement.

ED007 I have had two of my ex bear pals waxing lyrical about both Wilson and Allen, same party line as you describe, quote "Celtic were OUTBID for both" unquote "King is releasing big funds for Warburton" once I stopped laughing which took a while let me tell you, I asked firstly about the two other signings from Engerland, the guy that "never" failed any medical and the 35 year old guy, in his own words on tv "I am still a few weeks from fitness" their response was both turned down several offers to come to Glasgow, I then enquired how they knew King was releasing cash as like you ED007 I was under impression all monies came from season ticket sales. Again their reply only underlines how the gullible are easily led "Mr King PROMISED us money" I tried in vain to point out that if their chairman had glibly lied to a judge in court, he would have no hesitation in lying to the sevconians, finally I tried to ask about keeping expenditure down to suit their present circumstances, and not make the same mistakes in the past of overspending, and this is the kicker that floored me ED007 "Mr King is targeting EUROPE by winning the Scottish cup, therefore we need premiership standard players to get us to at least last 16 of Europa league, sadly I then gave up as not even the comedy genius of wee Pat could compete with that.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Jun 2015 17:13:18
Your probably right Ed about the zombies only selling circa 12k season tickets.

I wonder last year they lost their "facilitator" to collate/collect the season ticket money by direct debit! The company involved effectively needed a "floating charge" of circa a million that exists in case Sevco went bust then the payees have the right of consumer protection to have monies

Things were that bad at the Asbestos Arena they could not put up the monies and had to offer them a different way to pay over a think much fewer instalments and yet you never hear much of this or even if they have it in place this time around

Danny Wilson is not as good as Ambrose or Mulgrew and yet we are tried to believe p**h like McCann instead of facts

Has somebody checked yet to see if King HOLDS his shares this time round instead of his mammy?

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Jun 2015 17:21:00
They're totally deluded. I almost,ALMOST, feel sorry fir them. From McCann to you're mates Timalloy. If they get pleasure from the media spins around Wilson or Allan then let them. It's the only pleasure they have or will get for a while. And Mr. '322 counts' King, you'd think after EVERYTHING they would go for somebody a wee bit more proper than that. But they're happy enough to suckle on the pish that comes out of that guy. I don't know which is truer, their gutter low levels of desperation or the fact that they'll always be rotten to the core. And the whole time the fat cockney mafioso has got the whole Klan (nice Ed) bent over with their pants round their ankles. I don't even know whether to laugh anymore. My dad always told me never to mock the afflicted.

Just came on to see what the opinion on here was regarding allen. I agree he'd sit on a bench for celtic but he a regular for rangers. Also for the record I pay my rangers season ticket in 4 monthly installments and only recieved my renewal form on Monday. It was sent back today. If season ticket renewals aare at 12k in the space of a few days I'd say that's pretty good going?

Agree1 Disagree2

24 Jun 2015 20:25:35
@ED007 - Do you think Rangers slow season ticket sales is a result of there being no tea served up by Charles Green in the parking lot?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't be surprised to see that peddled out as an excuse.}

25 Jun 2015 08:11:20
Slow season ticket sales are due to season ticket holders only receiving renewal forms at the beginning of this week, unless people filled them in as soon as they came through the door and fired them straight back in the post box there won't be massive numbers renewed yet.

Ps I've never understood why people would go through to the ticket office to renew when you can do it through post or on the phone?

Rumours are Norwich want to use Hooper as bait for VVD. Would people be happy with Hooper and say 3-4m for Virgil? Me personally he was a good goal scorer but had a pretty lazy work ethic for the team which RD won't stand for. He was better with a striker to play off not as a lone striker i'd rather we went for someone else

Believable2 Unbelievable5

24 Jun 2015 09:16:27
I totally agree he doesn't suit Ronnys team ethic the only way I can see this deal going through Is if Ronny is going to play two up top which he won't in europe.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Jun 2015 09:36:36
Agree with the won't suit the RD Blueprint, but he was still a class striker for us and scored some really important goals for us. Hooper would definately jump at the chance of coming back "home" but RD would have to make sure he was ready to "work" with his outlook. Hail Hail

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 09:51:57
It's rarely works when a player 'goes back' (even if they want to?) and we have been playing with one striker for most of last season and Hooper is better with a partner.
I do think we need more quality up front - especially for CL, but if we lose VVD, on top of Denayer, then a similar class, defensive pairing would be a priority.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 10:51:08
I think as usual this will be paper talk as hooper will be to much in wages for us. Also if I was vvd I would use hooper as the perfect example. If your going to move to England that's fair enough but don't leave celtic for Norwich. Vvd should be at least a top 8 side. But if I was offered 10 m for vvd or 6m and hooper I would have hooper back in a second for the simple reason if we do get 10m for vvd how much if that is put back into the team. At least if we got hooper back it would give the fans a sense of a marque top quality signing.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Jun 2015 14:05:21
If and when VVD goes I would like it to be a straight cash deal. I wouldn't even consider Hooper a wig wam signing never mind a marquee. We need to get serious about our targets and go for someone fresh.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 15:18:57
I mean a sense of a big name as its a non scottish player we've heard off and know plenty about. When was the the last time we signed someone like that. We've tried fresh with balde bangura pukki scepovic guidetti who's to say this guy vossen will work out any better than them. If we got hooper back I certainly wouldn't be disappointed

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 17:44:54
He's been a failure in England since he returned with the hype of being our top goalscorer and if he was to come back and bang them in again he won't have a high transfer fee as he hasn't done himself justice and people will say its because the standard of league that's making him look good up here. Agree with you Gary VVD should see his move and think twice and can anyone see us getting most of the 10m to reinvest we will get a small fraction of it to strengthen with 'projects'
