PHEW!.That was close.If ever there was a lesson to be learned this was it.For all the hyperbole about the EPL,the fact is the international team have been outplayed for three out of four games in this tournament.The perfect example of how money distorts football.The fact is that the best players,in nearly every clubs case,is from abroad.Rooney,again ,failed to live up to the world class tag he enjoys,Gerrard,who i like and thought was their best player in all the games,was given a lesson in midfield by Pirlo.England really need to look at putting a cap on the amount of overseas players they allow in their league.The stats post game should worry every fan of their national team,they were damning.Parker:70k p/w,Young70kp/w, it goes on and on.On the displays during this tournament are they worth it? Are they reaping the benefit of having great overseas players around them? Personally i would rather watch La Liga,better style of football,and every player comfortable on the ball.............green jhedi {Ed007's Note - Watch the Bundesliga JG. My son reckons Pirlo is superb and can't believe how 'old' he is lol. I thought England wre alright and Italy not much better.

Think the commentary right throughout the tourney has been cringe worthy and derisory at times from the usual suspects.Lawrenson's comment about Abate's injury was puerile to say the the least.Pirlo,player of the tournament so far

Watching eng v Italy game, had to select red button and listen to 5 live commentary, still biased but at least I dont have to listen to that t****r mark lawrensen, that guy annoys me.

Players were not kept informed of anything behind the scenes and had to rely on newspapers etc for information plus their agents were being fobbed off or ignored any time they tried to make contact with the club to discuss their player's situation. The players had no one to show respect to, they have a duty to look after themselves and their families. They have bills to pay just like everyone else, they will live within their means like everyone else, granted their means are a lot higher than the majority of people but they signed those contracts in good faith.

Would you take a drop in wages and work for 75% less money then after a few months get told you are getting moved to a brand new company that is opening up, you know nothing about them and you are not even being given a choice or say in the matter? Players like McCulloch will take the transfer simply because at his age he probably wouldn't get a better offer. Players will always look after themselves.}

Question do the really decent celtic fans want to see rangers end,i know you exist i grew up a bluenose with lots of celtic fans,i was best man in a chapel in Bellshill but come on we need the old firm games it's what our game lives for ,waking up the morning of an old firm game a roll and sausage and then away we go ,3or4hrs of mayhem then back to work on the monday and unfortunately for BOTH sides a few dafties wanting to fight or even kill each other i know my team has fu@ked up but glasgow our great city needs the big green and big blue team as this is the best game in the world i know you will shoot me down but please be honest lets hope we have got many battles left to see on the park and do the good celtic fans want to see them finish ,how great is it going to work on the monday to get stuck into your mate,i know that you all really want these games and when your team wins the monday,because lets face it the money men at both teams are only after our monies,so lets be honest we are mostly all mates together with 1 love either celtic or rangers ps decent fans really are sorry for all the s#it that has gone down but we have suffered enough lets get it back to what matters ,probably get 30plus disagrees but the ones that hit agree really know the script thanks to all decent celtic fans as us bears know you exist cheers bhoys

I will tell you none. no punishment for all the trouble rangers have caused. they got a transfer ban and it got overturned. si they have had nothing. now I think if your team goes into any other league except div3 then they should get atleast a 30pt penalty every year for 5 years that will go someway to pay back for 20years of cheating

Old firm games are amazing, but you have to take your medicine and get on with it. The people in charge (SFA, SPL) will make sure you dont disappear so dont worry about that. We will see just how paranoid celtic fans are/have been when heaven and earth are moved to save rangers. They wont even hand out fair punishments to you guys for all the cheating and stealing (thats taking things without paying Jelavic, Celik, Wallace et al) so im almost certain youll be back. When Celtic and Rangers were both attempting to play in England or the Atlantic League etc, there was no talk of Scottish football struggling then, so why will it be so different without just rangers?

The trouble with rangers is they have collected trophies, prize money and euro places by cheating. They have then executed a neat one two and unloaded the debt which ensued. To just allow them to walk right back in to the spl debt free to do it all again would be criminal and the end of scottish football. They have to be treated as a completely new club and start at the bottom. Nothing else will do. Cheats must never prosper. Unfortunately their decent fans are going to have to take it on the chin.

Been reading this morning that the plans to restructure the leagues has to go in front of all member clubs. This is the chance for all clubs in Scotland to tell the crooks running our game that we will not be bullied in to accepting the newco. The clubs in div 1 would effectively be playing for a play off place as newco would be expected to win the league. This is still a chance for the lower league clubs to get some for of change but tell the SFA spl and sfl that change will only happen with newco starting in div 3. This isn't an anti rangers thing as they are dead. No newco should be able to start anywhere else but the 3'rd div. I just hope the clubs in the sfl don't sell themselves short and accept this proposal as it has nothing to do with helping sfl clubs but everything to do with helping the newco.

if motherwell and all you other bottlers that are scared of loseing money this season becouse of two games at home to cheats thers a way out open more seats for the champions or even better put a statment out that you are gona bring back a little bit of none one sided deffending cr=p ,this way is the only way football will move forward in scotland as you just might bring back some real motherwell ect attacking football fans ,lets rememmber cheats should never prosper time for real football in scotland ,jodrok

Are they not just appealing for more Season Ticket Holders? Seems sensilbe due to the drop in revenue although you would hope they would already be compensated for that by Champions league money.
