Now that sevco have lost AGAIN! is it yet a possibility we can win the title against them at Celtic park?

No we can definetly rule them out of the greatest comeback ever but Aberdeen are to far in front if they keep winning to allow us to win the title against the tribute act.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2017 08:55:15
It's all about whether Aberdeen drop enough points. We need them to only get 2 points from their next 3 games.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2017 09:19:06
Need 15 more points to win the title if Aberdeen keep winning.

Been told that for the away game against Dundee on 19th March (potentially title winning day) that our allocation has been CUT.
Some murmorings online that allegedely the sevco fans caused some damage last week, they are worried Celtic fans do the same.
NONSENSE as we all know, the REAL reason is they want as few Celtic fans as possible to witness our title winning game. They are not known as Dundee sevco for nothing.
Remember this was the team that employed bomber brown as manager.

Dundee (Hibernian) Utd are the Catholic team/ Irish. Dundee are the prods. Enough said.

25 Feb 2017 10:26:07
@timalloy - it's not like you to be paranoid? I would have thought Dundee would have welcomed the extra income the Celtic fans would bring?

P.S. if the allocation is cut maybe it's to do with the trouble Celtic fans caused up there last season?

P.P.S. and I thought it was only Rangers ( insert preferred name here ) fans who brought religion into football in 2017?

Ed, Been thinking about the new development plans and overall future plans as part of the Celtic Triangle Project, Also talk about the South Stand being replaced is never far away from discussion with rumoured plans already in place. Do you think this is us finally flexing our muscles to totally dominate Scottish football on and off the park and laying down a marker for future income resources so we aren't soley reliable on selling our best assets, or with Peter Lawwell having more and more talks in Europe are we looking at the bigger picture and possible future change in European League structure. Finding this whole issue remarkable as we are starting to look like a massive club on and off the park again and for that i have to credit the Board who i had become demoralised with for showing no vision. We now look like a club with a plan and the future looks fantastic. Any other comments or views welcome.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Regarding the South Stand stadium expansion I'm of the opinion that if/when Celtic announce it there will be concrete plans in place for us to leave the Scottish league - I just don't see why we need to do it just now, Stan apart from improving the look of the stadium as there's no point adding seats if you aren't going to fill them or only going to fill them 6-10 times throughout a season.}

24 Feb 2017 16:25:23
Thanks for reply Ed, Fair point and agree a higher capacity is certainly not required for SPL games. You would think if there was plans to replace it but have the capacity as it is or extend slightly to around the 65,000 mark it would be to upgrade dressing rooms, restaurants, Hospitality, etc.

. and a bigger Trophy room.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - A lot of the stuff currently in the trophy room will probably end up in the museum. I do like your idea about refurbishing the old stand and it's facilities with maybe a minor rise in capacity. If we could refurbish the entire stand I don't see any reason why we couldn't apply to hold CL/EL finals.}

24 Feb 2017 18:58:11
Ed if we up the capacity is that the only requirement we need to meet to get finals at paradise? Is it to do with how many stars a stadium has? A think hampden is the only five star football stadium in Scotland, am sure it's to do wae Road access or something like that? Am a on the right tracks wae that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The changing rooms aren't big enough and we need an enclosed area where visiting teams buses stop. Platini said years ago that for security and logistical reasons that he wanted all CL finals to be played in stadia with a minimum capacity of 70,000 but the 2014 final was held in Benfica's Estรกdio da Luz which doesn't hold 65,000 spectators so it's not a rule as such it was more a recommendation although no CL final has been played in a stadium with a capacity of less than 60,000.
I remember years ago the guides who gave the tours told the story that the only reason we never received the old UEFA 5* rating (that doesn't exist any longer, it's called UEFA Elite Stadiums) was because of the changing rooms size problem but because of the chances of the SFA sanctioning a bid over Hampden were so slim it wasn't financially feasible to take the gamble.}

24 Feb 2017 19:52:56
So if Celtic were to get elite stadium status they would still need the sfa to approve our request for a final? I thought it would be down to Celtic and uefa to decide.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The Club would need the SFA to put the application forward. It's the same everywhere, it's the FA's that apply with a nominated stadium to the UEFA Executive Committee who make the decision. Remember it's the SFA that are members of UEFA, not Celtic, for example European prize money etc is sent to the FA to be distributed to the clubs.
The SFA did apply for Hampden to be considered for the 2019 EL Final but that's going to Azerbaijan Bakuโ€™s 68,700-capacity Olympic Stadium or Atleticoโ€™s new stadium, the Wanda Metropolitano, which will hold 67,000 when it opens this summer.}

24 Feb 2017 23:49:18
I knew a previous chief exec of celtic who told me that there are plans drawn up and good to go for rebuilding the south stand. At that time he said it would only happen if we got into the English Premiership so don't imagine much has changed now.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2017 09:22:47
That's right Marty, worked there years ago (Barnes Time) and the talk then was the dressing rooms etc moving to the corner under the stand (south / west stands) and the drawings etc are all in place.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2017 09:01:22
Ed there is every chance the sfa would back us now especially since all the stuff about the sfact not going to use hampden anymore so it could be either us or Murray field for international matches.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They can't nominate us now, the stadium doesn't meet the requirements.}

have you ever seen him pass the ball to another celtic player? no neither have i, everytime he is out the team we play with a faster tempo the sooner him and the coward bitton are replaced with a real ball winner and a playmaker the sooner we might do something in the champions league,

Agree7 Disagree1

25 Feb 2017 00:43:43
imagine you saying i know nothing about football when you're calling brown a STAR, god give me strength lol, he wouldn't have been allowed to polish bobby murdoch or lubomir moravcik or paul mcstay's boots and bertie auld murdo mcleod and roy aitken must crease up with laughter everytime they hear him described as a hardman.

Agree7 Disagree2

25 Feb 2017 07:51:51
That must be some go go juice Jamesbhoy. I agree with you about Bitton but not Brown. He's not a McStay or a Lubo but who is nowadays. The lads has his ups and downs but I watch him every week and the teams not the same when he's not in it. definitely don't think you watch him every week, I think you formed an opinion when years ago and stuck to it.
And as for Bertie, I recall an interview with him a while back and he said he loved Brown, how important he was to the team, that'll do for me.

Agree1 Disagree6

25 Feb 2017 08:04:57

And pass the ball to another Celtic player? Are you a mushroom, are you kept in the dark? Brown got better pass percentages in the Champions league than any English based player.

25 Feb 2017 09:57:14
you are all on drugs i've watched this clown since he came and his touch is shocking, usain bolt wouldn't even be able to catch his misplaced passes, rogic and armstrong (when fit) are better midfield options and both of them are attacking goal threats not headless chickens who haven't got a first touch and don't go about making reckless mistimed tackles for ninety minutes.

Agree5 Disagree3

25 Feb 2017 10:49:06
Think your at it, nice comments jamesbhoy and you are entitled to your negative outlook on things. Just find it strange that some people come on to here and blast players as nothing good to say, but each to their own! The best part though is when people say (its the truth) , newsflash bud, just because you say its the truth it doesn't make it so! Its just your opinion.

With all the suggested names for our new hotel, I think there is an opportunity to forever remember one man:
(1) who has given us lots to cheer about

(2) who has given us much to be proud of

(3) who, speaking personally made us grateful to be Celtic supporters

what about THE WARBURTON? ๐Ÿ€.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

24 Feb 2017 13:57:40
I do like that but i think 'The Warburton' sounds more like some all you can eat Toby Carvry slop house where the locals look at you funny as you walk in.

If we were to pay homage we could name the pub inside (if there is one) 'The Loaf and Gap'

Guys i think there should be some sort of accolade for Fergus McCann.
so here is my 2p worth

The Fergus McCann Stand ( North )

Fergus is not Stein he is not Jinky.
He is the man who single handed kept OUR CLUB ALIVE.

The Man with the Bunnet Done it. its the least we can do to say thanks Fergus . Hail hail.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - From what I've been told by a few different people at different levels behind the scenes over the years and one guy that regularly played golf with Fergus all over the place, Fergus McCann is far too modest and he would not welcome anything along those lines.

25 Feb 2017 09:09:56
Agreed 100% 'The Croy Bunnet' had vision and is a Celtic legend. I remember getting his letter as a season ticket holder saying he was going to build a 60,000 all seater stadium and would have 50,000 season ticket holders and a waiting list and wanted ยฃ600.

We'd had about 11,000 fans watching Celtic against St. Mirren on a foggy Wednesday night singing sack the board and I thought to myself 'Aye Right Fergus-You've Been in Canada too long! ' Now that's what I call vision and the reason why the bunnet is a multi-millionaire and am pure dead no wan! God Bless and Long live the bunnet-right up there with Br. Walfrid for me as you say. ๐Ÿ€.

I wasn't brought up to be a Celtic fan, I was forced to be a Dundee fan by my Grandfather when at the age of 8 i got fed up being called a 'bad luck charm' cos Dundee were rotten. Paul Mcstay was the best player I had seen, I liked Pat Bonner and i liked the tops and from then on it was a case of demanding the green and yellow CR Smith goalie top from my mother and no looking back. Although I did start supporting just as 9 in a row was at title number 1. so maybe I was a bad luck charm at the time.

Because I chose Celtic and it chose me (Then one of the Old Firm. peace be upon it) it became almost inevitable that I had to learn a bit more about British and Irish history and struggles, Regality and religious intolerances especially between the now 3 football sides and form my own views on what right and wrong and who i think was right or wrong and when ( to put it all exceptionally lightly and gloss over a hell of a lot of the background, I'm sure everyone knows to what i refer) .

This decision is not something I have ever felt the need to associate with my choice of football club even though some of what i learned and accepted correct for my life view came through being part of this support. I know circumstances are vastly different and how deep rooted emotions are when you have been directly affected by the historical struggles. Does this mean we should keep this deep seated bond or hatred running through into a sport?

This leads me to a question that has always troubled me. How and why is a football club a focal point for so many peoples religious views and political struggles?

I know people of similar backgrounds and mindsets, religions or political affiliations will migrate together and this forms a strong part of the bonds that both created our club and is its lifeblood today and it is the same for those that supported both Rangerses.

Do some of us attach too much totemistic dependency on a football Club? For me sport is an escape, always has been. Its always been a small glimmer of hope in a world going more mind numbingly tonto every minute. The SFA/ FIFA/ UEFA have been doing a fine job at disillusionment there though.

Do i need sport to help me validate my opinions about other things in life? Do i need to use it to carry on the battles being had out with? or to simply get it up the other lot (in a non sporting sense) ? Should i need to use it as another way to get back at Protestants or Catholics for mocking me, threatening me, beating me, killing my family and keep the age old feuds running into another aspect of life? Should we not see sport as a way to escape the awful awful things we as a race can do to each other for simply having opposing viewpoints? . Yes some of these wounds will never be healed and loved ones and innocent bystanders not brought back but why carry it on to a football game?

So how does this relate to sport? and why do some feel it is the best place to show their political and religious colours as well as their sporting ones? i know, i know, i'm bringing it up on a sports forum, but it seems as good a place as any to get a views to something that has always bugged me.

Am i just being some sort of new age hippy 'Cant we all just get along'? or trying to oversimplify hundreds of years of pent up hatred and mistrust? that's for you to decide. Will we ever be able to get to a purely sporting rivalry and relationship where one guy just happens to support a team in a different colour and that's the end of it apart from banter about how rubbish said team is etc? Although things are generally better than they ever have been in terms of the troubles that have plagued our club and the Rangerses maybe its time for a lot of folk to take the grievances and hatred out of the stands. but maybe because we have it in the stands its actually helping off them in many areas? .

aye ok maybe i should just get my coat.
