@ timalloy, I am also hoping kayal getting a good run of games, boerrichter showing promising signs, jackson irvine, marcus fraser, tony watt and if both balde and pukki come through for us two quality signings for the start of next season it bodes well, if and it's a big if we hold onto the star players that want to stay.

Boeriggter showing positive signs? Where about? In the treatment room I hope your talking about, I've said on here ever since he limped off in his first game that he's a fraud, you can spot these players from a mile off, it seems to me his ego is bigger than his talent, and as I've posted before is well known for being injury prone and it's even been suggested by former clubs he feigns injuries and earned the nickname "the tampon" I hope i'm wrong but I fear another £2 million dud on big wages. ED007 as a Manchester United fan, what are your thoughts on Fergie's autobiography?
My opinion is he comes across as a very bitter man and trying to settle a few scores.
Also what must Moyes think with his comments on Rooney.
I had to laugh when he called Keane a bully, er Mr Ferguson, there was not a bigger bully than yourself in football. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - I doubt I will read it Tim but as you say the parts in the media do not put him in too good a light, although his bullying side was nothing that wasn't already known. I actually think the book should have been put off for couple of years to allow some time for things to settle down at OT, a lot of people are of the opinion that AF chose Moyes as his successor because he knew he would be no threat to his legacy at Utd, now is his ego really THAT big?
As you know Keane is a sporting hero of mine and the digs at him, Beckham and Rooney etc are nothing more than shows of petulant schoolboy pettiness and a need to have the last word.
He was an absolutely fantastic manager, one of the best ever but I lost a lot of respect for him over the Rock of Gibraltar race-horse fiasco plus the now infamous '99 questions' and the negative impact it all had on Utd. A lot of what he said in public was blatant hypocrisy.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm not a fan of biography's at all so won't be reading it. Suppose they always have to put something in these things to make them interesting and sell.

Tim seen your comments down a bit about Ajax fans, I was thinking about leaving early too but never.

AC Milan next at Celtic Park, here's hoping for European football after Christmas!

Not a fan of Ferguson, a big time bully
who thought he was above everyone.
managerial wise no argument, but can't forgive him for head butting bobby

I know none of you are interested, and probably think i'm talking rubbish with some of them, but for what its worth, heres my marks out of 10 last night.

Forster- 9- Great stops when needed, could have come out quicker for 1 clearance, but i'm clutching at straws for a negative.

Izzy- 7- A better game, but still not a defender, can't tackle basically. But a good shift up and down the line.

VVD- 10- Wow, I know its early days, but what a find he looks already. Looks in the Maldini mould(long way to go I know). But he seems to read a game beautifully.

Ambrose-9- I was probably his biggest critic on here, but what a start to the season he has had. He and VVD look our best partnership since Johan and big Joos. Both had great games last night.

Lustig- 8- Considering not full fit, another great shift from a guy who has come on leaps and bounds for us. Seems to give everything for the cause epitomized by last night.

Mulgrew-9- What a game and season so far. Not put a foot wrong for club and country. Dictated the tempo of the game IMO, and has turned being a journeyman footballer into a mainstay for us and Scotland.

Kayal-7- Good game but tired which was to be expected. A good stand in for Broonie, but he has 1 problem.hes no Broonie, who IMO is our first name on the team sheet when available.

Samaras-8- Took the ball for long runs which took the pressure of us when needed. didn't look a goal threat as such, but had an effective game whilst being marked by 2 players most of game.

Forrest-7- Would have been a 6 but for the penalty. Ran into trouble a bit and still seems to fall onto his butt alot, but didn't hide and looked to get on the ball where possible.

Pukki-6- Some nice touches, but at the minute looks a bit lightweight. Seems to get brushed off the ball a bit easy. He looks to me more like a winger and maybe him and Forrest should be fighting for 1 place.

Stokes-9- Another player I have criticized, I thought he had a great game. Chased everything and gave none of the Ajax defenders any time to settle. Put the most effort in during the 90 mins IMO.

Biton-2- Stupid challenge at 2-0 up.

Ledley-5- Gave a bad free kick away and looked a bit rusty at this level. But great to see him on way back to full fitness.

As I said, only my opinions, who agrees, disagrees?

Joeshmo1888 {Ed007's Note - We have not forgotten the match by match ratings system for the site, it is just getting it all working without bugs etc.}

Joeshmo1888 {Ed007's Note - Sorry Joe, I don't carry any loose change with me.}

Forster 8
Lustig 8
Izzy 8
VVD 9
Efe 8
MULGREW 9
Kayal 8
Samaras 7
Forest 7
Pukki 6
Stokes 7

Thot samaras kept running ball out or running straight in to players

Agree0 Disagree0

I think our better performers were from defence and midfield because we were without the ball for much of the game and had to close down.
Van Diijk, Ambrose, Lustig, Kayal Mulgrew, and Forster excelled; but Samaras lost possession too much and Pukki was rarely involved.
Forrest and Stokes did well in spells and I was so impressed with Forrest's handling of the penalty delay and dispatch. What a boost this will give.

Afternoon Ed007, great result last night, i'd like to see things shaken up a bit at firhill maybe starting fisher, mgeoch, balde any time I've seen the young aussie lad he does'nt look fit especially the morton game a couple of good runs then he was knackered he needs games, partick will be a good test, if kayal can get back to his best he would be my captain also james f has, nt had a spell with a regular partner Mcnamarra and donnelly were almost psychic ( Spelling ) this is where I feel sorry for izzy virtually no help at times. I broke my grandsons hearts not going last night we've got seats in the family section my daughter told me there was trouble I hope no-one was injured . Ps, quite sad but I got a great deal of satisfaction knowing the rangers fan who bet us not to score or get a point was probably frothin at the mouth pathetic I know , {Ed007's Note - It seems a few people spared a thought for the schizophrenic zombie and his bet after last night's match.}

I agree THS about giving our fringe players more game time in Scottish games.
Starting at Partick I would play Fisher, McGeough, Rogic, Balde and Ajacic. Experience coming from Brown, Ledley and Biton.
We have 2 games before Ajax match and a free midweek, use it wisely to rest key play and give others more game time. Timalloy

Bhoys/Ghirls and wee Pat.
Just a wee footnote to the sevco gambling fan

just a quick we question ed. what do you think uefa will do over the behaviour of the ajax supporters if anything. also think pukki needs time to settle in. let's get off his back and give him time

de boer your head IS LIT MATE. dominated the game? where were you at cause it wasnt at cp last night {Ed007's Note - I will be surprised if UEFA do anything. The police report will probably only mention that the Ajax fans were generally well behaved as they didn't sing Roll of Honour.}

Sevco are really hurting after last night's result. For a number of reasons. We won. We won in the Cl. We beat a Dutch team. We beat a Dutch team managed by a ***. Their fans are like sevcos - dirty and shameful We bust a lot of coupons last night. Some zombies had us to lose every CL match, therefore - to all zombies - GIRUY!:-) Bankie Bhoy

How long before we have to sell Van Dijk because someone gives us funny money for him. The best centre half we have had in a very long time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Oct 2013 12:18:22
Imo I don't think he will be sold for quite a long time. ambrose on a new contract and van dijk on the same length I think that lenny knows this is what he wants at the back.

heard some one saying last night down the pub that van dijk was like a dad playing in the garden with his 21 sons. wasnt far wrong either haha

now I know I may get slaughtered for this but I was glad commons was missing last night. I think stokes is to isolated and not enough pressing on the cbs. what's your thoughts guys?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we are very light-weight up front in terms of numbers and type of player.
Pukki has still to convince me and Balde is obviously not in the managers plans so we will have to strengthen in Jan.
We made a mistake in letting Watt go when we failed in the last-gasp bids for the Peterborough striker and it was obvious then that NL felt we needed more options up front.

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Think forester and van are going to be the next big bucks players we sell, for each could go for 15mill easily but more ff right then van but he is a true gem and could be a legend here if he stays for years.

Well done Celtic last night, and well done our fans for showing those Ajax people how to support a team.
For next game in Holland we do not need any special tactics, just have some players missing through injury or suspension. It worked so far for Milan, Barca and now Celtic. hail hail Timalloy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Get a grip mate the ajax fans were fantastic last night with the exception of about 20 guys who were persons. They created a fantastic atmosphere and backed their team great. Take your green goggles off and say well done to them remember our support aren't lily white at home or abroad on occasions. And for clarity I saw fairly close the trouble at half time and I thought they were rushing at stewards and pushing them not fighting, a couple of seats were thrown but I never thought there was any real danger it seemed more handbags than anything.
Jim {Ed007's Note - If, and it's a big if, you are a CFC supporter and you are condoning or justifying that behaviour by using some whataboutery then you're a disgrace. I wonder if you would have been saying the same if you were one of the civilians that got caught up in it all.
Any 'firm' that goes on the rampage attacking random 'scarfers' and members of the public are nothing more than a bunch of bullying pussies.}

Agree0 Disagree0

At no point did I condone them I was saying they gave great support except those 20 odd idiots.my point was don't tarnish 2700 good supporters for a minority of idiotss. As for if you are a celtic fan petty on your part
Jim {Ed007's Note - Was it the same 20 people that caused trouble throughout the city on Monday night, all day Tuesday and inside the ground? I don't think it's petty questioning your allegiance when you state 'our support aren't lily white' whilst also stating that it was only 20 odd idiots out of 2700 Ajax supporters.
You will happily tar ALL your fellow CFC supporters as not being lilly-white while saying that because it was only 20 Ajax fans that were breaking chairs and throwing missiles in amongst women and children so we should calm down. Are you for real?
That is a sweeping statement and generalisation of your fellow fans is it not and one I have never came across from a CFC fan before? The large majority of the CFC support are generally well behaved and if any carry on like Ajax done it is a very small proportion of the small minority, it is not as you generalise 'our support'.
I'm glad that you weren't hurt though, especially as you were close enough to count how many Ajax fans were involved without being hit by any missiles yourself.}

50 F-Side youth lads smashed up WH Smith and assaulted the police on Monday night, the same group linked to a seperate incident outside Failté. There were a few minor scuffles during the day yesterday. A much larger group of old school F-Side + ICF attempted to walk through the Gallowgate, including an attempted attack on the Tolbooth. They then proceeded to throw bricks, bottles, coins from a police escort at Celtic scarfers on London Road. Inside the ground they ripped up seats + began to throw them into the family section of the Lisbon Lions lower tier, as well as coins. Last night a lot of posts on social networking that they plan to have a welcome party for us going to Amsterdam. They're a bunch of neanderthals who acted like the southside undead last night!

So sorry I thought you might have realised I was talking about minority not all celtic fans. As for the carnage on Monday and Tuesday sorry but I haven't seen these reports in the press or tv so I didn't want to blindly comment on that. And it was about twenty guys at the front 6 rows or so but if they were attacking celtic supporters I stand corrected I only saw them pushing at stewards with police and stewards unwilling to intervene .
Jim {Ed007's Note - Ah the old 'if it happened it would be in the papers or on the news' chestnut.

ED007 and also "Jim" in my reply to Mrs E further down I commented on Ajax fans and said " a minority, but a LARGISH minority" there were certainly more than 20 causing the trouble, but most decent Ajax fans were OK.
I left ground early, with the girls, because I was fearful of getting caught up in any street disorder.
Let us condemn the hooligans, but welcome all decent Dutch supporters back to Celtic Park anytime.
ED007 as you also say, we have some idiots among our support, but in a small minority and I find that Celtic fans police themselves and try and nip any trouble from these clowns in the bud.
I have witnessed myself our fans intervening and stopping trouble in away ties and foreign cities.
Our fans are not perfect, but are better than most.
Timalloy {Ed007's Note - Alcohol is a big factor in the majority of football related incidents (I have the figures somewhere but I'm on my tablet just now) with any support in Scotland. Organised hooligans are nowhere near the level numberswise you see abroad.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep trying JIM you will get it right in the end (aye right).jimbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

A wasnt far away from the Ajax fans Jim looking down on them from top tier, there was a hell of a lot more than 20 fans m8 it was 5 or 6 deep the length of the standing area at the front When rushing the stewards.
A will agree with you when they wer concentrating on supporting there team they were quality support

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember when we played them in 71, their fans were extremely annoying (flugel horns) and many were bordering on aggressive. Mainly just annoying though, it was in a 108,000 crowd at hampden in the cairry oot days and aggression would have been suicide really. Didn't like them.

great performance last night, got the little bit of luck we have missed in the last two games, big Sammi was immense . Van Dijk, who looks like he is going to be a great find, he and Kayal were stand outs . Biton had to go for that tackle, well done to James for staying cool at the penalty, after the keeper got away with his carry on

Great win last night considering the injuries and suspension.

Very impressed with Kayal. I did post on Monday night saying he has not looked like the player we had in his first season here but there was a definite showing he could be back so here's hoping.

Couldn't believe when Forrest stepped up to take the penalty and how confident he struck it after the delay. Well done wee man!

Again, Ambrose and VVD in defence were near faultless with Izzy and Sammy doing well on the left. Lustig can always be relied upon in these games.

Ajax fans were a bit 'over zealous' and I was glad they were kept back in the stadium for a wee while. Over the past year we've had Barcelona, Juventus, Benfica and Spartak Moscow but they are the only fans this has happened with!

Brilliant win and fantastic atmosphere.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Delighted for Beram Kayal, superb last night! was fantastic in his early Celtic career!

Yes he has been struggling since the tackle by that thug McCulloch during a game against a now defunct football team, but he has ability and I now hope he really bounces back!

When he tracked back 40 yards last night to make that tackle, I said to my mate that might just be the spark he needs, a great reaction from the crowd to spark him into life and from that point on he was terrific!

Welcome back the real Beram Kayal!

Mrs E totally agree with your summing up, inciteful and well thought out as usual, (was that how you asked me to write it lol)
As for those Ajax fans ( again a minority, but a largish minority) causing all this bother. sadly, I think we need to have a proper fenced off section for away fans, with perspect plastic above so no objects can be thrown over.
I took girls away early for fears of any trouble, so missed their goal.
I hope UEFA will look into this, if Celtic get fined for fans lighting flares, surely Ajax must be punished. Timalloy

Guys what are your thoughts on Pukki? I know its early days but I'm trying to find a positive in his play every time I watch him. Then I see Lee Griffiths banging them in for Wolves and I think would we have been spending the 2m on him . and I know all about the baggage. bla bla bla. I'm sure NL could manage him no problem. Anyway great result tonight game on! Ian L

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not convinced with Pukki, hope he comes good specially since my boys got his name and number on his top LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

Well given the footballing experts in here and their judgement he'll turn out great.
Celtic players repeatedly get crucified with nonsense and undeserving criticism in here, only to play well and show up the nuggets. James Forrest the most recent and of course, the shocking treatment of Effe Ambrose and regular nonsense regarding Kayal and Izzaguere. Incidentally, what did stokes do more than Pukki tonight? How many saves did stokes force? None?

Agree0 Disagree0

To the above poster, I agree that people are often too quick to have a swipe at players, though I need to point out that Stokes got us a penalty last night, so he did contribute more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Waste of time getting involved with a person who doesn't even leave his name but has plenty to say. Ian L
