I might be in the minority tonight but I thought we played well, at least in the first half. We tired late in the game but that's expected. Our passing was sharp and accurate at times. I think this game has shown how much he we are improving.

I thought Scott Brown was exceptional yet again. His quick closing and strong tackling was first class. What a season he is having. Definitely looked the part against a team that people pitch a tent in their cacks for at every opportunity.

I also think the criticism of McGregor is harsh. He has his limitations but I thought he had a decent game. Sutton was giving him stick from kick-off, which was unwarranted. He obviously doesn't rate the lad but to continually harp on about the miss against Borrusia Hoochinfartbox (or however you spell it) is out of order. That game is gone and there is no point dwelling on it. Why didn't he have a go at Dembele for missing a penalty against Barcelona in Nou Camp and another sitter tonight?

I hope Sinclair is fit for Sunday nevermind tonight's result. Onwards and upwards.

why was our tiring to be expected? Hate these comments as playing football is their only job so, at this level, tiring is a feeble excuse.

Agree1 Disagree2

23 Nov 2016 23:29:17
I don't think we tired massively considering the chasing we did, just ran out of ideas. Brown put in a great shift but a threat through the middle isn't there. He is a ball winner/ percentage passer and his stats have been great. He has 1 more season playing that role before having to drop a bit deeper. Mcgregor and biton aren't the guys to make the difference beside him. A hard tackling creative cm is a must but it's fantasy football manager territory. Rogic is a great no 10 for 60 mins but we don't play that diamond shape in Europe, we can't. The guys that we knew weren't good enough weren't the others I think done thier best. No point being bitter. Every game we could of lost a few more goals and didn't. Scored a few great ones.
It's a start.

TinyTim, because Barcelona are masters at keeping the ball and making you chase and chase until you're knackered. Our players are very fit but if you're chasing shadows then it's absolutely to be expected. I felt the team did very well tonight but at this level just lacked that final ball or bit of quality when it mattered.

Agree2 Disagree1

24 Nov 2016 01:19:26
we haven't as healthy a life style over the years as Spanish teams have adopted . We are playing Catching up with the Spaniards re fitness . As Keybhoy posted Barcelona are very good at making the ball do the work , hence we had to work very hard to win back .
We did this, we could have scored and I think Suareez conned Izzy and referee into penalty.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Nov 2016 01:49:50
a***H***! Never liked him! AND HIS BIG TEETH!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2016 07:11:03
TinyTim the point I was making about getting tired was explained by Kev. Barcelona controlled the game with 2/ 3rds of the possession. I think I read at the end of the game that their passing accuracy was 88%. We were also behind for most of the game. All this would suggest we were chasing the game in every aspect and were bound to run out of steam.

As for calling McGregor an arsehole Davie, well that's your opinion. Don't know the lad personally to comment. I think he tried hard last night. I said previously that I think he has his limitations. He wouldn'the be my first choice selection but the manager pitched him in and obviously thought he was the right choice on the night. Not all of us will agree. Unfortunately for him I think his days are numbered as I expect to see us reinforce in January.

I am not going to say that there is no shame in getting beaten 2-0 by Barcelona as I hate loosing to anyone. It was an encouraging performance but I feel there is still improvement to be found in our team.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2016 07:11:21
I don't think we tired physically it was more of a mental tiredness.
There second was a real sucker punch and just after we had a good chance pretty deflating.

Still far better than the last time we played them.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2016 09:20:38
I agree thought we played well, and held our own, but to be beaten by messi, and a penalty that Suarez made from nothing.
It was a tough group, and but for a bit of composure and luck, I think we could have won a couple of games. A couple of better quality players and hopefully the same improvements next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2016 09:49:54
Agree about brown mate, thought he played really well! Controlled aggression and always looking for the ball! Been a critic of him in the past but he's really came on to a game under BR! Just think we're lacking in some departments. mcgegor for me isn't the answer in there!

There was a point just into the 2nd half when the ball broke to him just outside there box with nobody near him and he took 5 touches before he had a poor shot at goal! Was really poor! And izzy showed why wee KT is the undisputed number one LB. that was schoolboy defending for that penalty!

Yes Suarez is a dirty bastard but it was a clear foul! But all in all it's been a good experience for the players and we've earned some good money from this! On to Sunday and picking up the first trophy of the treble! Looking forward to it already! 🍀🍀HH.

Tinytim, chasing the world's best would be tiring you wouldn't get a second to breath with there movement compared to what we are used to.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2016 18:42:30
Tiring mental would be a bigger problem Han physically becoming tired . We can easily push ourselves through physical tiredness, I am not sure we can over come mental tiredness as easily.

Got to a good laugh at the tramps page, always cheers me up these days. According to some fud called seeker our manager has to turn the lights off before he leaves tonight. You would think they should be worried about keeping their own lights on. Our wonderful club is thriving, their current club is dwindling to the edge of existance. Its good, good times. Not our year in CL, but its all progress in the bigger picture. Onwards and upwards.

23 Nov 2016 21:51:42
Onward and upward, there will be a lot BR learns from game tonight. You learn more from defeats than victories. Brown led the team well by giving everything and Dembele had little time on the ball. Hope the neutrals enjoyed the atmosphere as supporters were fantastic 💃.

dont say that. the mob across the road will be geniuses by end of season if that is the case.

I'd rather sign kris Boyd than neymar the lads a tawt.

So is Boyd!

23 Nov 2016 21:38:29
Well that's it for another year, the players not good enough are glaringly obvious, ES, IE, JF, CMcG, turning point was the Dembele miss and their dodgy penalty. Rodgers must work on getting the players to shoot when the opportunity presents itself and stop abdicating responsibility by looking for the pass, keep the faith.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

23 Nov 2016 22:07:23
Have to disagree, JF I thought he done well in the second half. He may ultimately have a bad run at some point but so far this season he has played his part. We are lucky to have Izzy as a back up, name me a left back better than him that would come to the club and play second fiddle? Eric is still improving his game and Calum is a squad player not a regular pick.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Nov 2016 23:55:16
ES are you serious? Big Erik was outstanding once again. Him, Brown and Dembele our 3 best performers in the group stage.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Nov 2016 01:27:09
Izzy was tremendous in the first half . The penalty knocked his confidence out of him and he wasn't the same in the second half . Suarez was much too clever for Izzy, got his body into Izzy's space and caught Izzy's arms under his own , looked as if Izzy was wrapped all over Suarez.

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Nov 2016 21:32:07
I used to have so much respect for Barcelona. After watching tonight's game and seeing the antics of Suarez, that scumbag Neymar and even Messi resorting to waving for a booking, it's gone. The referee was an absolute disgrace as well - he have every single 50/ 50 to Barcelona and his booking of Lustig after the aforementioned ****er Neymar assaulted Lustig just sums up the bam's performance. Bloody disgusting.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

23 Nov 2016 22:06:13
Quite agree Andy. Naymars a disgrace. Ref bottled it big style. Any respect I had for Barcelona disappeared tonight.

Agree4 Disagree1

23 Nov 2016 22:09:44
I disagree Andy thought the ref was good and only mistake I noticed was the Lustig yellow card when that wee rat Neymar was the one causing it! Considering our group and the fact this is Rodgers first season in charge I think we have set a nice platform to build on and 3/ 4 new signings in the next 2 windows should see us with a very capable Champions league quality team.

Agree3 Disagree4

23 Nov 2016 22:21:30
I think the whole point with the antics of Barcelona tonight is that unlike the Nou Camp they knew they were in a game tonight. I see their behaviour as a back handed compliment.

Agree1 Disagree4

23 Nov 2016 22:52:24
personally, I thought the ref had a good game and the booking for retaliation was stupid.
Barcelona started to resort to petty fouls etc just to slow us down as they could see the bite in our team (no offence suarez)

Agree1 Disagree3

24 Nov 2016 08:26:27
Ref gene them every 50 5o going and couldn't point to the pen spot quick enough HD had a stinker.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Nov 2016 21:21:30
Izzy, Forrest Armstrong mcgregor and maybe lustig are not really up to champions league level. If we want to push on in Europe we need to move these players out for better ones.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

23 Nov 2016 21:30:02
Hope this puts to bed that izzy is good enough cover
Total liability.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed007's Note - Luckily we don't play Barca every week, Izzy is fine at the domestic level.}

23 Nov 2016 21:38:33
I don't agree. He is the weakest link in the team.
If we lose a goal on Sunday I'd better it comes down his side.

Agree1 Disagree4

{Ed007's Note - At least you'll feel good about it but eh?}

23 Nov 2016 21:50:48
Not at all. He has to play because we have no cover.
But I don't think he is good enough at any level for celtic.
Have had this opinion for long long time.
But it's the same thing we hear about ambrose every time he has a couple good games. Then a big game comes along and BAM.
No way he is ever going to compete for the Jersey if Tierney fit so no way he should get a new contract.

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Nov 2016 21:55:13
You seem to be forgetting how well Izzy played against BMG in the last match and that tonight he had the unenviable task of trying to stop messi and Suarez.

Let me point out that not many full backs in world football manage to stop that duo. I really can't understand fans who slate players because of their own over inflated expectations. I actually thought the team gave a decent account of themselves tonight.

Agree2 Disagree1

23 Nov 2016 22:14:35
I don't think you will be a to find another lb anywhere near his quality that is willing to sit on the bench behind Tierney! Up until the penalty I thought he was playing very well.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Nov 2016 22:37:31
It was never a pen he conned the ref have close look at that cheating sod pull izzy's arm round then throw himself to the ground, conned the ref well.

Was a mile better than rogic tonight.

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Nov 2016 22:25:17
I think he was there to contain for the first hour. I suspect the game plan was to bring Forrest on for MacG and then Paddy on for Rogic. Sinclairs injury wrecked the game plan.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Nov 2016 00:38:37
Magicpole Mc Gregor gets a game because our manager who sees him daily thinks he is the right player to do the job he wants him to do.
Managers don't pick players for the craic.

23 Nov 2016 18:54:22
No Roberts or Forest in the starting line up, seems a bit strange, do not know how he intends to t the ball in box.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

23 Nov 2016 19:35:25
Forrest and Roberts don't track back all the time, which is probably why we are seeing McGregor. Also looks like we may play narrower up top.

Ha ha my ex bear pals including bigot in a suit are once again prepared to lose BIG money.
Bigot has placed a bet of £500 at odds 6/ 5 that Barcelona win and over 3.5 goals in game.
The ex bears are not as brave and have just risked £70 at odds 2/ 7 for a Barcelona win. Risking £70 to only win £20 is not great gambling, at least the bigot can more than double his investment.
But to me the value bet would appear to be Dembele 11/ 4 to score in 90 minutes.

Up against the best forward line in the world - including a 'rested' Messi in possibly the toughest CL group there is and although they need a result possibly more than us - I am not worried one iota.
Even if we lose (unless it's a hammering) , I have not felt this good about the direction we are taking and the football we are playing for many years and the mood and positivity within the club and among the support is fantastic.

If anything, I am even more excited about the prospect of BR and the team going for the first trophy of the season to signal a period of success and domination not seen since the 9-in-a-row.
I know we have not won anything yet, but along with confidence and expectation, we have now a manager and team to back it up and with the money raised from this years CL, we will be able to tweak and improve the squad even more and continue to rub shoulders with the cream of Europe, while others can only watch and wish.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

23 Nov 2016 13:46:59
It's certainly about the bigger picture, getting our foot in the door, using the money wisely, becoming CL regulars and attracting better players.

I think the last game, potentially against a second-string side, will be our best chance of Europe after crimbo.

Forget all the hype, Barcelona are nowhere near the team they once were, they are beatable.

Agree1 Disagree2

23 Nov 2016 16:55:48
Aindoh, every team is beatable at one time or other but whether Celtic can win tonight is a very big ask . I certainly feel justified in my mind having Barcelona odds on favourites to win, so that I can still enjoy the game if we play reasonably way and not win.
I notice 007 Inesta is missing and we remember the big difference he made in Barcelona in our first match
I hope all true Celtic fans whether at the match, watching on TV or radio have an enjoyable night and despite the dangerous weather conditions, please God everyone get home safe.

{Ed007's Note - Iniesta coming on changed the entire game that night, Chris.}

When it comes to the mighty Glasgow Celtic I don't care who we play we will always have a chance of winning. Fear nobody, get stuck in n press them high, in their faces from the off, it's only 11 against 11 at the end of the day n so long as the fans r behind the team from the word go I'm confident of getting a result.
Brilliant post from I was 11 in 67, we are bringing in the right type of player now and fans r fully onside, mostly at least, we can only get stronger n the board need to do what they started but didn't finish under Mon, get in the right quality of player be it on higher wages for a free, who cares so long as they r good enough to start n it also helps with competition 4 places. Add that to ensuring we develop n playing our own as that has to be the future.
Here we go 10 in a row can't wait to be in paradise tonight watching the world's greatest ever team, the mighty Glasgow Celtic.
Hail.
