Given the money that players get paid in this era.
I know that what players did get paid was more than any working class person, however, I don't think you can look at anyone in the last 10 years as the wages has went through the roof.
What player was worth more than he was paid.?

Ed a think you may be right but a think that was before he got capped now he's capped a work permit might be easyer but like I said just another name to the silly pot just hope we can get at least one more name in before the first champions league game
{Ed007's Note - Kara Mbodj has had 15 caps since 2011 so he probably hasn't played enough games for Senegal in the last two years to qualify, there has been a change to work permit regulations in a bid to limit the number of non-EU players.
Previously, players needed to have played at least 75% of their country's internationals over the previous two years, well that's now changed and determined according to ranking.
Players must play at least 30% of matches in the last two years if their country is in the top 10, 45% if ranked between 11th and 20th, 60% between 21st and 30th and 75% if between 31st and 50th.
Under the old system, players had to have played for a country in the top 70 when rankings are averaged over two years. That has been changed to the top 50 and Senegal who are currently ranked 36th don't qualify on average for a few months yet.}

Lol aye a know mate.just some of the comments comin out from Collins and Kennedy looks like there won't be much activity this window! Hope I'm wrong but because we defo need a new striker! Like it to be vossen but if not we need someone in! going into the season with just wee griffiths ,who's done great recently and scepovic who I'm not even sure wants to be here is a concern for me! If griffiths gets injured then it doesn't leave us with much!

We will do our usual messing about and either someone else will snap him up or we will sign him the last day he can be our wildcard signing for one of the Champions League games and throw him straight in like Berget.
I'm not panicking as not overly impressed with any of the guys we are being linked to but we do need a decent striker and preferably now to give him time to settle in.

We should go for Jahanbakhash who can cover either flank and costs around 1.6m and punt Stokes for 1m as can't see him getting much of a sniff. The striker can wait until after the Icelandics and the LB should be the other priority. VVD will leave after the qualifiers so that ain't a concern just yet
