Hey Ed with this live chat that's been going for the last 3 games you've turned me into one of those f*** wits that sit during games staring at their phones. Ha ha.

23 Jan 2016 22:53:55
Just read a article saying that fletcher wants to come to us in the summer ED. says he's got offers from China but wants to come back up the road! I know this transfers been spoke about umpteen times, do u see this happening buddy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I hope not.}

23 Jan 2016 23:29:11
Lol thought u might say that mate! U not heard anything then bud? Not sure what I feel about it to be honest mate! Guys a decent player but all depends on the wages I guess! Can't see him dropping down to the level we pay.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The story comes up in every window and every window he is older, had more injuries and still struggled to score goals when he was fit. He makes James Forrest look like Iron Man. Fletcher's an awful player and I'd probably rather just stick with Ciftci than move for him. If there is any real interest it's just more of the pi$hy old pals act from John Park.}

23 Jan 2016 23:30:02
Fletcher is awful. Really baffles me why anyone would want to touch him.
He has an uninimitable knack of being around a foot away from any cross that comes into the box and pays more attention to his beard than his game.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Jan 2016 00:31:44
Home to us?, he is a gifted goalscorer, but he has fallen into the money culture, greed culture, on second thoughts, he might feel right at home here, .

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Jan 2016 22:49:28
I think due to GMS having such a good game today people are overlooking the fact that Johansen played the best he has all season. More like it and I also though Tierney was outstanding, it's great to have a left back who can defend.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jan 2016 09:28:08
I'd still rather we punted him for the Β£5m Villa are offering. Not like it was ever possible but Austin going to Southampton for Β£4m I'd rather sell Johansen and buy a striker like that than stick with a player in bad form in a position we have plenty of cover for.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 12:15:46
SJ will stay until the summer at least.

If he does sign on, great, he's one of our better players.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 21:03:10
Another rubbish display by the green brigade today. How about they welcome the new guy to the club? Then sing songs about Celtic, rather than about being filmed/ facial recognition/ the police?

Decent fans wouldn't care about who watches them as they are at the stadium to support their club! These guys really grate on me.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

23 Jan 2016 21:36:43
Nonsense. Facial recognition is already used by GCHQ and is an obvious violation of civil and political rights. The implications of allowing the government to know more about you than you know yourself are staggering, and Britain is already the worst offender in an egregious and frantic West (at least according to Edward Snowden) . The last place we need this shit is at Celtic Park.

Agree2 Disagree3

23 Jan 2016 21:59:28
Cavalcanti . I fully agree with you, if the police used all the powers available to them, they could deal with most if not all the law violations at football matches . For example the bigoted and sectarian singing by the Ibrox mob at the recent Hibs game.
Maybe if NT87 feels so strong about GB banners he should be able to foresee them and raise a counter banner.

Agree0 Disagree3

23 Jan 2016 22:10:15
No time for Green Brigade. If they were that passionate about making a stand, then why have they not took action regarding way PL has run club of late?

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 22:49:47
Do you not think it's being used because of the clowns who cause all the problems. If they didn't cause trouble nobody would care who they are.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 23:27:48
I could not disagree more cavalcanti, if you are proud of what you do show you're face, if you are ashamed, ie a cowardldly little prick, hide it, john hume or martin luther king didn't hide behind masks or banners.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 23:28:13
Your right NT87. They are nothing but troublemakers.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 23:39:46
NT and DN blaming fellow fans for the establishment wanting to introduce more draconian acts against ordinary working class people. Wonderful chaps wonderful, people like you make their aims so much simpler. I think the word is sheeple.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think a lot of people are failing to see the bigger picture with this, this could have serious implications for everyone, not just football fans.}

24 Jan 2016 00:05:19
I me ed ,I might get caught watchin porn

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 08:36:45
@NT87 - Not so long ago we had one of the most senior police officers in the police force describe our fans as Marxist and then state that it was his intention to "smash" us into the ground.

Since that statement has been made thousands of our fans have been harassed by the police. They are put under surveillance, they are stopped by police for no reason, detained for no reason, get their door kicked in during dawn raids for little reason and get arrested at airports upon returning from holiday. I should also point out that the small number who do end up in court are more often than not found not guilty of the trumped up charges administered by the police who have sworn to "smash" them.

So let me now ask you, do you still think the Green Brigade are not decent fans and should refrain from highlighting the injustices that they suffer?

Agree2 Disagree1

24 Jan 2016 12:00:25
I think some of them are decent fans. I think some of them are total idiots. Most of my mates are season ticket holders and good supporters, not one of them has suffered any of this unjust behaviour. if you don't bring attention to yourself you won't get unwanted attention.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 13:14:53
@NT87 - Your response is what is known as an anecdotal fallacy (google it as I doubt you know what it actually means) and consists of a logical error.

I should point out, it is not my purpose to educate you, as I suspect there is little chance of success.

Anyway, I digress so let's get back to the point. Just because none of your mates have experienced any of this does not mean it does not happen or that it is justified. In fact one of the top QCs in Scotland (Brian McConnachie) has stated that the treatment of Celtic fans is what you would expect to find in a "police state". He then went on to say that the police are lying about what they do and has evidence that supports his claim. In addition Dr Waiton, senior sociology lecturer at Abertay University has stated that the legislation which allows police to act in this way

"is arguably the most authoritarian piece of legislation in modern times in Britain. "

Out of interest what are you basing your opinions on, other than anecdotal fallacies?

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Jan 2016 15:45:25
Sorry I didn't realise I was dealing with Albert Einstein, trying to act smart doesn't really impress me, and I'm not going to be drawn into an 'I'm more intelligent than you' conversation, as your post has just shown me that other than anything else you are a right clown. obviously one with at least 4 degrees and I assume a learned doctor haha.

My point is that the green brigade bring it on themselves, I've been going to games for 20 years and any problem I've encountered is due to idiots in the crowd, not the people policing the game. That's my opinion, and I know it's not only me who thinks that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So you've not heard about supporters buses getting pulled over just because it's a supporter bus? Did you hear about the CFC fans and members of the public who were put off a City Link bus last Friday in Dundee and told that they had to either book into hotel or get taxis back to Glasgow.
I don't know what makes you think this is anything to do with the Green Brigade, it's about every football supporter in Scotland, but who did you blame for trouble at CFC games before the GB were around?
BTW, according to Police Scotland if you're in the CFC support you are just another idiot in the crowd the same as any other supporter. It's obvious you don't travel to games on supporters buses or on public transport, if you did you'd know maybe what you're talking about.}

24 Jan 2016 17:31:37
I've been on buses that have been pulled over and checked, again it didn't bother me as they just checked then the bus carried on. I don't see the problem. Well was it not the green brigade with the banner? Obviously there are other idiots who aren't part of the GB, and before the GB there were still the people who throw coins, sing sectarian songs and let off flares. These are the people who should be monitored, if I can take my wee boy to a game knowing the idiots are being policed I'm a lot happier!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 16:21:56
Your point is invalid as it is not based on facts and as I have already demonstrated, it is fallacious. If you do not like this being pointed out then you should perhaps consider asking yourself this question before you post:

Do I actually know anything about the subject I am about to post about?

If the answer is "no", then you would do well to go and learn some facts before spouting such drivel. Ignore this wise advice at your own peril.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 18:47:20
The facts I know is that there are lots of idiots who go to games and cause trouble, every club has its fair share of them?

Are you saying this isn't the case? If you think that then must be watching all the games on one of these dodgy telly boxes. I fail to see the problem with wanting less of the troublemakers in the stadium.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've never in my life met any trouble makers within the CFC support, not one. Did you report these people you seen causing trouble to the proper authorities?}

24 Jan 2016 19:31:52
Have you never heard sectarian singing, seen a flare, seen Dallas getting hit with a coin, seen dida get slapped in the face?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I never met the guy who threw the coin or the guy who slapped Dida, did you blame the Green Brigade for those events too or just two individual clowns that were drunk, I don't recall them causing any trouble, one got lifted and one got took to hospital?
How can flares cause trouble? Guys fighting over who's turn it is to hold it? I've been at games in Germany with loads of flares and never seen them causing any trouble, I've never seen them causing any trouble in Scotland either.
It's been a long, long time since I have heard any sectarian singing from the CFC support, years in fact and even then I can't remember it causing trouble.
It depends what your definition of trouble is but my experience of it at football is usually alcohol fuelled.
Maybe you're a bit too precious for following football, you've certainly got a strange opinion on the general CFC support let alone the Green Brigade. The fact you're bringing up single incidents that happened in 1999 speaks or itself so I'll just leave it at that.}

24 Jan 2016 19:52:31
One of those eejits who never had a childhood. Was born with a pair of slippers on and a copy of gardeners world.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 20:40:04
@NT87 - You seem incapable of even following your own argument, what chance do you have of following mine as it actually makes sense and is based on fact.

Let me direct you back to your original point which is what I have taken issue with. Your point was about not liking the green brigade and that you thought they should just accept the authoritarian treatment dished out to them by the police rather than protesting about the mistreatment.

So do not try and change the parameters of the argument to try and avoid looking foolish as it won't work with me or others on this site.

Anyway, it is a moot point whether or not you get idiots at the football because it does not excuse the treatment they suffer at the hands of the police. Who as I pointed out earlier are out to "smash" our "Marxist" support.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 22:17:20
My initial argument that was the green brigade had another stupid banner. which they did.

As for the other ridiculous comments from ed, I enjoy football and supporting my team, I couldn't care less about facial recognition or the police as they have never concerned me. Maybe the people who get so worked up about how all this stuff affects them need to get a life and stop feeling victimised by anyone who looks at them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The only thing ridiculous here is you - a perfect example of everything that is wrong with the CFC support. It's people like you that get the rest of us a bad name with your made up accusations and holier than thou attitude. At least you and your type only sully home games.}

25 Jan 2016 07:13:52
Your right ed, the problem with Celtic fans is that there are too many who want to go watch football and not get involved in political crap. none of my accusations have been made up. Perhaps we should try to get more fines and sanctions from UEFA as you seem to pride yourself on them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I think you are completely missing the point, this is a return to the days when football fans were all treated as animals by the police. This is not merely a political issue, this is an issue of mistreatment of football fans as a group, rather than an attempt to find the troublemakers and single them out. The police are not trying to stop trouble, they are trying to create more to justify them getting bigger budgets. If they really were trying to stop trouble, they would nip it in the bud, they would find the root cause, the knobs that actually are causing the issues, and they would single them out. They would encourage the crowd to single them out and stop it happening. Clearly as you claim to have seen so many troublemakers and yet have done nothing about it, you are as much of a problem as they are! Any person who stands by and watches is little better than the guilty party.}

25 Jan 2016 23:08:22
Some people think home games at Celtic Park are opportunities to practice church behaviour . There are no silence please notices in any stand . The Green Brigade bring a football crowd atmosphere to one corner of the stadium . Very often a couple of hundred fans in the away section out sing the rest of the stadium .
For those who consider the Green Brigade to be a pesky wee section, then they should form a group themselves and sing Celtic only "approved " songs and fill the stadium .

Another good performance today. About time GMS did something too so good on him. He really needs to start teplicating what he can do on a consistent basis as the teports of him being sent on loan could easily have been true. Having missed the 8-1 i knew I wasn't going to be in for the same treat but over the past few games we can't complain with our average goals haul.

Using the squad in the right way too now with one or two changes being made each outing.

Long may it continue.

Strange one with gms pre season looked brilliant started season ok then out of picture . I like him so hope delia has worked out what he thought was holding him back.

I am pleased that both GMS and Armstrong both played well. Johansson also showed a big improvement .

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 23:17:20
Tbh he was poor but the last 2 games he's improved dramatically good on him he's obviously got the head down and worked hard to get back in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 23:31:15
Was it not Deila, that was holding him back, by not playing him?, like he has done with several others.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Jan 2016 12:14:13
He was in the team aindoh, because he had a great pre-season. Then out the team, because he was playing poorly. Now he's back in the team playing well. But RD can't take any credit for the way he handles players can he?

Does anyone know what it is with the lights on people's phones around the stadium? Seems to happen around the same time every game?

23 Jan 2016 21:19:44
This was started a couple of seasons ago by the GB as a protest about being filmed and photographed by the police at games, it seemed to stop last season but with this new face recognition camera thing supposedly coming in I presume this is why it has started again.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 21:25:39
Thanks for replys guys I wasn't sure and was thinking it was some protest as seems to be the norm these days lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 22:09:01
There has been no reports of anyone that is elipeptic been affected. The first lighting of the lighters was before there was any talk of facial recognition . It doesn't seem to very well planned, more like as if a few lighted up and others followed as there is a scattering throughout most of the stadium, whether than a large number in a relative small area .

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 22:45:43
I thought it originated as a protest to the police filming the fans. Basically the fans started film on them back.

23 Jan 2016 18:02:52
Hi ed

Why is it that we call former players good or great " servants"? Hardly servants at 4 5 6 7 or 20 k a week for 12 hours a week training and a few hours on a Saturday

We talk about managers in a similar way too. It was probably appropriate in bygone days but not today

There are no great servants. Lowly paid players who play at the same club for years aren't servants either. They simply can't get any more money elsewhere

Weird use of the word if you ask me.

Servant just means somebody who performs a duty for others. Not necessarily a skivvy in an 18th century stately home under a social divide.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2016 22:22:17
If wee have a football club that we love to support, we don't want or need our players to be slaves or servants . If we feel our players are doing a decent job and apparently are working hard for our team we love them and regard them as our own That doesn't give us a right to hurl abuse or ridicule them when they fail to do what we want or make a fu. -up. They are ours to support and try to make better .
