Nollaig Shona, ( happy Christmas )
Ed, and all celts, have a good Christmas and healthy New year, after yesterday's tragedy in Glasgow, family health is all that matters, thinking about all those injured and families of those who lost their life yesterday.

Keep up the good work Ed in 2015, hopefully a another year wiser and a lot less angry, your not always rite like me lol.

{Ed007's Note - I'm always right, I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
As George Bernard Shaw once said 'The longer I live the more I see that I am never wrong about anything, and that all the pains that I have so humbly taken to verify my notions have only wasted my time.'
Nollaig Shona mo chara.}

Should'nt todays poll read "no matter how well the goal keeper plays, as he is the last man in defence, he should take the blame for all the goals he let's in ".

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's not a question though.....}

, do you agree?.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think any GK has to accept partial responsibility for any goal conceded, everyone's quick enough to get on a striker who's not scoring's back, a winger who is a poor crosser etc.
When Fraser Forster was breaking clean-sheet records nobody said it was because of the defence, do you think our defenders are playing like they have confidence in the GK? I doubt we would have conceded the 2 goals against Dundee Utd, well those 2 goals, if Forster was still our GK. I thought that was Gordon's worst performance for us yet, the second goal especially was a shambles, I have no idea what he was trying to do there and what was he trying to do on the 6 yard line at Utd's first?
Just watch the time it takes him to react during a game, I've said it before that with one on one reflex saves he is good but anything that needs him to think about his positioning he struggles to make any decision let alone a quick one. That's the kind of sharpness you will lose if you've not been playing for as long as Gordon did.
The people who've been knocking RD all season say that it's basically the same team that NL had but they don't mention that we lost an English international GK and replaced him with someone who hadn't played ANY football for over 2 years.
CFC's current No.1 GK was considering retiring and becoming a GK coach during the summer of 2013, he felt confident enough in his fitness to look for a lower league club in Scotland or move to Ireland to play in the summer of 2014 until Pedro nipped in and signed him to replace a £10 million England internationalist, if Sevco had signed Gordon we'd have been rolling in the aisles laughing at them.
But why blame our GK when we have Ambrose in the team?}

Why not blame Ambrose when he makes basic errors in almost every game that costs us goals. Ambrose was costing us in Europe last season when Foster was in goals. Ambrose fault for first and Gordon's for the second on Saturday was how I saw it this week. Marci

Agree0 Disagree1

So who do u think we could sign in goals that is better than GORDON? A think it was great buisness by celtic, Forster was never worth £10 million anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

I hate to say it but we are linked with Randolph!

Ørjan Nyland, the young national, 22 years been linked to some english clubs, but snatch him up. Very good reflexes, a captain to come and a lot of raw talent still.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought the ball took a wicked deflection which beat Ambrose on Sunday . I was worried that Gordon hadn't come further off his line, to make it harder for the striker as Ambrose held him up well.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If the ball hadn't deflected off Biton then Ambrose would have cleared it.}

Arguing with Edd07 is like arguing with my wife. An exercise in futility lol. Happy Christmas Edd, and all the rest of the bhoys and girls. Markie

{Ed007's Note - Merry Christmas to you and your family, have a great time.}

I honestly can't believe there's people on here defending AMBROSE!!! The ball took a wicked deflection that's why he didn't clear it! If it didn't hit biton he would have cleared it!!! Are use havin a bloody laugh?? The guys an absolute joke! Sent off 2 games in a row,legia and FRIENDLY against spurs where we lost 10 goals in 2 matches! He shouldn't be anywhere near a celtic top! Surely there's a youth team centre half who could come in and do a job? He couldn't be any worse than AMBROSE! Guys the worse celtic player I've ever seen in the past 20 years! As will be proved when he makes another mess of it against the leagues 2nd bottom team on Saturday! How anybody can defend this guy is beyond me! If we go into the rangers and inter games with this guy at the back then we should be prepared to lose a barrel load of goals!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So you're saying the ball didn't deflect off Biton?}

Ed, very true a deflection caused us again . However nearly always our defenders have to do it all by themselves, rarely does another defender help out . The deflection took Ambrose out, izzy held the player up long enough in the build up to the second goal but no one came to help him out . I don't know if it the attacking mind of the team as a whole, or more likely lazy defending . Good defenders don't allow forwards to get one on one on defenders, but ours do.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not Ambrose's biggest fan, Chris but he seems to be the current whipping Bhoy for any bad results and I felt it was unjustified on Sunday at Tannadice.}

Anyone watching Sunday's game would have seen the ball deflecting off biton.Dangy1888 what planet are you on we should be prepared to lose a barrow load when we play sevco with our current defence, that mob couldn't score in a brothel, behave yourself .killy.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Dec 2014 23:24:38
I'm not sayin it didn't deflect off biton! But he had plenty of time to adjust before it came to him! Any half decent centre half would have a adjusted and cleared his lines no bother! But he can't even boot the ball up the park! The only time he did connect properly was when he nearly cleared the stand with a back pass in the 2nd half!! And this he's the whipping boy is nonsense to! Sure the whole defence need to sharpen up but he's the week link! This isn't just the odd time either! It's been constant since he came back from the African nations cup! The guy mite be a great guy off the park and Everythin else but he ain't a defender! A centre half is a priority in jan if u ask me!

Agree0 Disagree0

At Celtic we always seem to have a whipping boy who is given the blame for all our failings . I agree with Ed Ambrose carries that burden now. He can be clumsy at times but Ambrose is not a bad centre half . Sunday was typical in that he was marking their best and main striker . If Ambrose was such a bombscare, how come it is his responsibility always to mark their top striker . I would like to see how Virgil would manage if he took on that responsibility . Even though he is marking the main threat Ambrose still helps out other defenders more than any other Celtic defender .

Best 11? What do you all think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd go for that team, would swap Matthews but who with? He hasn't seemed interested all season

Agree0 Disagree0

If we're playin two up i'd like to see Scepovic with Guidetti. Take matthews out and just have Griffiths behind the two?

Agree0 Disagree0

I tried posting a similar formation but it never showed up on the site but I had different players as jimtim said I would have guidetti and scepovic up front right wing back I would have lustig and the three centre back's would be van dyke denayer and ambrose as you need pacey cb's for a 3 man defence but glad to see someone else posting the 3-5-2 my preferred formation I absolutely hate the lone striker formation's

I have just seen the headline on tv that says Ronny would rather keep players in the January window rather than sign anyone.
I hope this is just him keeping his cards close to his chest, as the only player I believe we could not afford to lose is Scott Brown.
I am not for a minute saying the rest are poor players, but we need to do something to tighten our defence, as the goals we are conceding may cost us dearly befor the end of the season.
The forward line may come good as the strikers have shown in spells, that they can score goals, but the defence has been poor all season, it has cost us heavily already.
I wouldn't feel too confident if we were relying on this back four come the big matches in the second half of the season.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

RD wants 2 to 3 new players in in January whether that is losing any I don't know but he has been Quoted is saying he has his eye on some and hopes to bring some in

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Ronny was emphasising that he didn't want key players leaving in the window but its inevitable that some fringe players will go either on loan or sold and we may lose van dijk.I think if he doesn't address the defensive issues at full back and central defence then he will be setting himself up for future failure and inevitably just criticism but he's got to get the time to get it right as its not always possible to get the right players in the January window.

I think what he was getting at was that if he brings new players in they will take time to adjust so he would rather keep everyone he has as they know the system and there rolls. Although some of the players are taking longer than the rest. Mathews and forrest to name 2. Forrests awareness was awful for the Dundee Utd goal he's just standing there as 2 players run off him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope it does'nt mean he wants to keep Berget

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't think he needs new defenders. Just play different ones. Lustig, O'Connel, van dike, Mulgrew is what I would like to try. Armstrong to play beside Brown and get that waste of a jersey Biton out. Anya or any quality left sided player to play where stokes is and I would be delighted. Markie.

Agree0 Disagree0

Markiebhoy, I am sorry I can't agree with Anya as he seems to thrive on using his pace to run at a team who don't have too many defenders as they are an attacked minded team . Celtic don't play against these types of teams often . The idea of anyone else for the left side doesn't fill me with much confidence .

does anyone know much about this lad kara mbodj. seems to be highly thought after and would be someone deila knows from norway or could just be newspapers linking us with someone whos played there before

any truth you think in the links? would say he's van dijks replacement if so

The talk going round my work today is that one of the guys I work with lost his daughter and both his in-laws at George Square yesterday and his wife is in the hospital. He's a big Celtic fan although that doesn't make any difference. Keep them and all the other families in your thoughts and prayers and show your loved ones that you care this Christmas. Football means nothing at times like this. Hail Hail and God bless.
