So I take it Browns thinking about being a stand up comedian after he retires! Craig Gordon was outstanding from start to Finish he says! Now by all means back your team mates, but don't talk utter Shoite to do it! He was at fault for both goals! That attempt at the first one was pathetic and the 2nd one was something u would see in my wee nephews under 8s game! Outstanding! Away and don't talk pish! Come and do the interview say how happy u are to be In the CL and get the hell out there! That tonite was a massive reality check for BR and the board IMO! Yes we've done well in some games and I'll admit I thought we'd turned a corner! But that tonite was as bad as I've seen! Janko mcgregor bitton and Gordon ain't good enough! The whole team were like rabbits caught in the headlights! And let's not kid ourselves, that mob were average at best! They out thought outfought and out played us all nite! We've far to many passengers in these games! Big toure and Sinclair are the only 2 who got pass marks for me! And if BR didn't know erik should be next to toure in every game then he does now!

Bitton did ok mate and Toure and Sinclair were class agree with everything else.

I think Janko was at fault for the second but I do agree it's time for a change in goal. Bring on Packard Bonner!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2016 06:17:10
Hahaha time is a great heeler obviously , packy bonner was the Bain of my life when I was a kid and was an average keeper at best, so much so that I remember we used to joke at school he was the only player at Celtic park scared of the cross, I remember him dropping 2 crosses at ibrox during a game causing us to get beat 2-0 and leaving this young kid in tears.

23 Aug 2016 23:29:38
Well done Celtic! Every team in SPL to benefit from £250,000 except Sevco as were not in League previous season. That cash goes to Dundee Utd 😘😂😂.

Glad u came on skinny! So who's the CL dosh getting spent on then? Should we expect this big name player soon then? Lol.

24 Aug 2016 00:03:25
Hi skinny, never knew of that windfall for SPL clubs, so is that a solidarity bonus of 1.5 mill between the clubs?

Morning Bhoys - I am en ex Scot born and bred in Glasgow and have been a passionate Celtic supporter since the age of 6. I am also Jewish and have been living in Israel since 1982. I watch every Celtic game. I was at the game last night - couldn't get a ticket for our end so had to suffer with the Hapoel fans. It was hot and very humid - the stadium is small and the supporters are real close to the pitch. The atmosphere was therefore very threatening.
Hapoel had nothing to lose and came in to the game relaxed and with purpose. We lost all the one on one battles and frankly looked afraid on the pitch. When we had the ball (which wasnt very often) we did little with it and lost it very quickly. There was no pressing - usually a big part of BR tactics. We game them far too much space on both wings and the midfield provided little defensive cover. It was a poor performance and we were very lucky not to lose a third.
Hope BR finds a way to improve our away performances in the group stages.
Glad were through
Hail Hail.

{Ed007's Note - It's nice to hear from you. And btw, what religion you are doesn't matter on here.}

23 Aug 2016 23:24:39
Well can't wait to see our new keeper play! Cause CG is no good, he cost the team 2 goals but really 3 goals that he could've stopped over the 2 games.
Not only costing goals he has kicked it out of play and more to the other teams players then ours and can't make a decision to go after the ball but waits for it to come to him. Way to shaky for CL, need to see/ play new keeper!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2016 15:09:23
All the talk of him being this possession keeper BR wants went right out the window tonight. Embarrassing for both goals and his distrubution was even more laughable. Hopefully DDV starts against the sheep.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 23:23:18
Just seen the quote from brown about Gordon being outstanding from start to finish! if that's his honest view of that game rhen we should be terrified of what's ahead this season! Now I'm all for a captain backing his team mates but don't come.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

23 Aug 2016 23:42:54
I think he was just doing the captain bit and coming out in support of a player who is under fire. Would not be surprised if Gordon has played his last game for a wee while.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - Welcome aboard mate and no, it's honestly not me.}

23 Aug 2016 23:23:38
Haha. Someone posted about Rodgers team selection I. e. Janko. Did he not come on last week because Lustig was getting took to the cleaners? . Janko was murder though.

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Aug 2016 23:08:00
BR is clearly a lucky manager which is useful he's made a mess of it tonight but no harm done just as long as he learns. McGregor would struggle with Kilmarnock Gordon is done. Janko not nearly good enough. Think once these 3 useless players are gone we will see the best of Celtic provided replacements are good enough. Got the luck and money, time to replace the useless ones.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

24 Aug 2016 00:31:41
Good managers always seem lucky, got beat 2-0 tonight, but still in champions league, cause we won 5-2 at home, if that's luck I'll take that everyday.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2016 15:11:59
Agree with the 3 mentioned, hopefully now we can get a few more in and seriously downsize all the dross picking up a wage that won't be getting a game.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 23:03:09
We're Europa league level, struggled badly away from home against a bog standard Europa league level team, can some stop banging on about Janko plz, he's poor and got found out tonight, BIG TIME! some even wanted Darnell Fischer given a chance before he left lol! We need proper cover not mince.
I'll take the result all day long and over the moon but need to be realistic, we played for the money tonight.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2016 01:46:08
I think the nerves kicked in big time. BR interview after the game mentioned the players lacking the confidence the last few seasons after going out in the same rounds previously. with a couple of quality additions we will see a huge improvement. the manager knows there is still a lot of work to be done but at least we are where we want to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 23:02:10
Is it just me or did anyone else find it baffling that Rodgers took of Forrest leaving Janko to cover the whole right side of the pitch after being terrible in the first half seen people praising Rodgers for changing to a back 3 at the end but personally I thought he almost cost us the game.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 23:45:17
All subs had me scatching my head tonight and I think BR got lucky.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2016 00:33:05
Janko is a defender? Forrest isn't! Is that simple enough?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:59:42
Far to much negativity around tonight! I couldn't agree more that the performance was terrible and some of the substitution's made were baffling but at the end of the day we are thru to the Chanpions League Group Stage and that's all that matters. I'm not personally a fan of the competition as its aimed towards making the Richer clubs richer but better being involved as not. HH.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

23 Aug 2016 22:55:23
Terrible performance away from in Europe but we've been doing that for as long as I can remember. Very little difference between that team tonight and RDs team in terms of performance. The one key different that seen us through was Kolo Toure. Thought his performance and leadership were outstanding. We are through and that's all that matters. Hopes for the next 8 days are a win over Aberdeen and a for us to sign a right back, centre mid and Paddy Roberts on a permanent deal. I don't think we'll achieve all of that but I'd be happy with 3 out of 4.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 22:51:42
That was a roller coaster of emotions tonight guys. Absolutely delighted to get to the group stage. Hope the board and Brendan get another couple of bodies in because at times we looked awful on the back foot. Overall though, magic 🍀🍀🍀.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 22:49:31
After 2 excellent attacking performances that has brought me back down to earth with a bang. I have to admit I was expecting much, much better. We got roasted for 90 minutes against a mediocre Israeli side.

A lot of folk went missing tonight, our entire midfield infact. Rodgers had top marks from me tactically and in the substitution department until tonight. Like everyone else, I don't see a player in Janko. They threw everything down his side from the first whistle. The fact he wasn't hooked has left a big question mark over the manager's thinking tonight. He got caught in possession repeatedly and is extremley rash.

I am praying we have a few quality signings lined up for the group stages as we are in danger of getting humped if we repeat that performance.

Still early days though and I guess it would be infair not to finish with a huge congratulations in qualifying at the first attempt. Now, time to knuckle down and start working on the producing quality football we have witnessed over recent weeks. Great to be in the hat regardless.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2016 15:19:12
I thought big Bitton got stuck in. JF just seemed to want to stand on the line and wait for a pass rather than make runs in behind. Lazy and predictable. Janko was embarrassing as was Gordon. Strange set up going 4-3-3 away from home too and the subs was odd as well. Hopefully Skinnybhoy was right and we get a marquee in and maybe a couple more too we need it. A unit of a CDM is needed for games like tonight when we're hanging on for a result.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:47:20
Very lucky tonite after a poor performance but I'll take that over playin them off the park then crumbling anytime . the most notable point for me wasnt how bad janko or magregor (whom I like just needs to get consistency) were tonigh it was our "goalkeepers" jersey . wtf . blue?
Hail hail.

We'd have been out on our arse without him.
Just thankful we kept going for more goals at Parkhead tae.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

23 Aug 2016 22:33:06
Performance aside let's not forget how significant getting to the Champions League is. The Zombies can only dream of getting £22m. This really should set us up for the next seaon or 2 and in all honesty should secure 10 in a row for us if we spend it on Roberts and another couple of quality additions. I hope this week we try to punt as much of the dead wood as we can, Never an easy thing to do so even getting 4 or 5 of them out on loan.

Ed sterling work over the last few weeks with all that is going on along with the many new posters. Keep up the fantastic work. HH.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate, that's really appreciated.}

23 Aug 2016 22:31:05
I suppose we can all be great managers in hindsight but that was truly horrific tonight. Personally I think the wrong formation coupled with players who are not good enough and some who just played terrible.
Thank goodness they were hopeless cause a better team would have put us to the sword. But we're through so what next.
My opinion we definitely need a right back. Janko is not the answer and neither is Lustig as a stop gap. We need an animal in midfield and another centre forward. Still not convinced with Dembele but time will tell. A new goalkeeper? Most definitely and a realisation that sometimes we cannot play with too many supposed flair players to the exclusion of stronger ones that can break up play.
Hopefully that will be the worst game this season so onwards and upwards. Hail hail.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 22:29:13
I didn't see the match tonight as I don't have BT sport, so I won't comment on the players.
I'm delighted though that we are through.
I hope though that Brendan Rodgers will look at our 3 away performances in the qualifiers and try to do something to make us more difficult to beat away from home. These type of performances have been happening for too long now, teams are finding it too easy to score and create chances against us, we have to become more resilient and difficult to beat.
I know it's not Celtic related but hats off to Dundalk they drew 1-1 with Leiga Warsaw tonight in Poland. I'm not Irish, but Ireland can be proud at how well they have done through these qualifiers, best of luck to them in the Europa league.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 22:29:11
I've got a feeling De Vries will play against Aberdeen, baffling team selection and baffling substitutions tonight Rodgers will need to up his game as well as the players everyone knows McGregor and Janko are not good enough.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

23 Aug 2016 22:49:11
That's horseshit mate. Give them a break it was a tough ask tonight and we're through.

23 Aug 2016 23:09:58
Well said.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 23:35:15
You must have been watching a different game from everyone else McGregor and Janko were absolutely shite and Gordon shits himself to come off his line and as for Rodgers he is famous for baffling team selections and don't get me started on that clown Brown who continually passes the ball to the opposition.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:15:04
Well I guess the big plus is that we've achieved our goal, and that was qualification! Great achievement by the team and manager! Now to the moaning lol. that was as bad as I've seen us in a long time! Janko done his best impression of ambrose! It was actually laughable that he finished the game! Time after time he was chasing shadows and getting caught out constantly! It was awful! BR has got to bring In a couple of players before next week by the way! Not he maybe should, he must! He's got to demand money for a few additions! And the last word goes to Gordon! Big mans came in for nowt and done a job but he's done! Forget the 2nd goal, that was comical! But the 1st for me was just as bad! Time to step aside big man!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 22:46:18
Janko is Effe in disguise. He had a very very poor game.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:58:20
Both goals were the same in that respect: no coms between goalie and defender. Between them they ought to have dealt easily. Give him I rest, and let him fight for his place with De Vries starting next time.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:14:52
Everyone complaining about mcgregor but any coincidence that biton started tonight and the whole midfield looked disjointed and brown not as effective as he has been lately.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

23 Aug 2016 22:59:42
Broonie had no license to go on, and Celtic can't defend a lead or sh$te. I just wish we'd take the game to our opposition, never mind who. We play well when we do (or are able)

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 23:05:17
Totally agree Brown and Biton can't play in the same team, this has been proven over and over again.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 23:11:25
It was the fact he's supposed to be the creative player but he is weak poor in distribution and garbage all round. Bitton is in dm break play up . Rogic should of played.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:14:20
Ed what's happened to Johanson? Surely he would of been better than Macgregor?
He must be away? Same with Efe!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

23 Aug 2016 22:19:32
Totally agree mate. We've always avoided Real (for Barcelona half the time) but the bigger the better. But maybe Ajax instead of the Italians.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:50:54
Correct me if I'm wrong but with Villarreal and Plzen out now if Ajax go out tomorrow (big chance away in Russia and 1-1 from first leg) we sneak into pot 3? Bt did say we are either 3 or 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:12:00
Were through. that's all that matters.
Worth noting this. you find out a lot more about your players in a match like that than you do in a 5-2 win.
Janko and McGregor not up to it at that level
He should have started with Erik.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

23 Aug 2016 22:28:33
Definitely picked wrong team for me Eric at cb and lustig at rb mcgregor ok domestically but not for cl imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:33:15
Spot on Prodigal Bhoy. Chris Sutton said that last week about McGregor even when we beat Hapoel. Big Hartson and Mjalby, in particular, said before KO that Janko would be the weak link in the Celtic defence. I'd get Chris Gunter in from Reading if he is still available.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:05:24
I don't understand the criticism for Gordon - he caught the ball and Janko knocked it out of his hands! That was one of the worst performances I have seen, and Janko was shocking all night - I don't get why he started, but I'm flabbergasted that he stayed on beyond half time, let alone the whole game! I think Rodgers' decisions were poor tonight and the team was equally poor, but all that said. THANK GOD!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

23 Aug 2016 22:23:34
Couldn't agree more Andy, Janko was terrible from start to finish, hope that's the last we see of him. Worrying that Brendan left him on .

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:30:22
Any decent goalkeeper would have knocked what ever player standing in front of him on his arse. That's the criticism, efe at right back on saturday!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:32:37
Gordon must have kicked the ball straight out the park 30 times tonight.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:41:12
Sorry Andy can't agree with you there. Gordon is to static with anything into the box. He should have gone towards the ball and through Janko if needs be. I just think he is timid at times and not strong enough. That said Janko was truly awful tonight. I was peeking through my fingers every time he went near the ball 😁😁😁.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:44:07
Your keeper should be grabbing that ball and shoving any player near him out the way. You think Buffon would let a guy knock the ball out his hands? Last game for Craig Gordon.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:04:07
The bottom line we scored 5 they scored 4 and we go through.
The bigger picture:- we have still got too many players who freeze or make horrendous mistakes in big games and we lose too many goals.

There was not one star-man for us tonight and indeed there were a few who looked really out of place - even at this stage of the CL.
The formation, did not work out as they bullied and forced the play as we dilly dallied and hesitated.
The wide men were nullified by long diagonal passes and the full backs (especially Janko who was terrible) had a torrid time trying to stop crosses.

Brown and Bitton does not - and never will - work; if you want the best out of Brown - sell Bitton.
Forrest and McGregor are SPL level and Sinclair is very hot and cold. When Griffiths is isolated he quickly loses heart and impact and I think he plays better with Rogic in the side to link the play.

Gordon saved one, dropped one and although he made a good recovery, he still worries me and others.

The draw will throw up the best in Europe and we will try to compete at home and probably struggle away - as we always do; but the cash generated will allow us to improve the squad and get that little bit better and most importantly make us even more capable of dominating and representing Scotland, alone as usual as Champions.

I was 8 lol, only child in family to support Celts from then til now, 3 boys 2 with me and 1 on the dark side, makes for good banter, especially as his mates are on our side, bring it on 😃.

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Aug 2016 22:01:41
Well that was fun. I honestly think that way of getting through could be better than if we cruised it as BR will demand better players as he will not be wanting to take that team to the Bernebeau as it could be 10-0. Every cloud and all that. But **** it lads, we made it and those games are the most pressurised games we will face all year. Would have taken 2-0 so let's just saviour being in amongst the elite where we belong for 1st time in 3 years HH.

23 Aug 2016 22:01:12
Manager. Wrong starting 11. Wrong formation wrong players subbed. very very lucky
Gordon. how many times?
Janko. sorry son not good enough
Lustig . below average
Toure. just about held everybody together
Tierney. no joy going fwd done his job in defence
Forrest. typical last season display
Biton. far too slow and immobile
Mgregor. poor and slow
Brown tried but was playing their mid himself
Sinclair . drifted in and out not great
Griff ran for everything no service
Shevvy . shored it up a bit
Dembele . as griff but some poor control stopped moves in track
Rogic. tried but not at best

Was it a case of collective nerves aligned with Def howlers putting everyone on edge? . one thing for sure is we need some qualty.

Perfectly called DRB.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:19:20
can't really disagree with summation but would say Lustig didn't do much wrong and Toure our best player on the night. Janko seems to have taken over Efes role lol. think he was the main culprit in the second goal, a freak one that. They were strong physically and out muscled us. Bitton can't play against that type of opposition because we all know he slows the game down which means whoever receives his passes are on the back foot.

23 Aug 2016 21:56:33
So Bhoys and Ed, now we've done it do you expect signings to come through the door and if so how quickly?

From all the rumours of late signings are lined up and may have been dependant on qualifying so surely no excuses and no waiting until the last minute as per normal.

Definitely think we need a RB and a midfielder from the Wanyama mould to get some dig in that midfield.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

23 Aug 2016 22:15:49
First signing apparently is a Mexican called juan marquee

BR did hint at this.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 22:24:58
Right back is essential after that offering. Lustig won't last a campaign at RB, Ralston too young and Janko definitely not a defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 21:55:50
God knows apart from a decent central midfielder to play alongside and hopefully bring the best out in Brown we desperately need a fit right back that can actually defend. And insurance for Grif and the big man up top. And pray that De Vries is the answer?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 22:17:44
One thing we need is someone / anyone that can actually tackle properly!

We weren't anywhere near second balls tonight and that must be a concern

Oh and possession

And mentality

And match awareness

Apart from that we' re sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 23:10:31
I would like to think that Ajer has the potential to bring a mix of both composure and physical presence to the midfield. He may be young but so was Wanyama. I hope he shows some hunger in training to push for a place. Maybe he is too nice in training? I have liked what I have seen from him in small glimpses and hope that he gets the chance to show if he has what it takes.

Mixed feelings tonight! Obviously happy we have champs league place but that performance was worse than some of deilas performances! Surely now rodgers knows he needs a few cl quality players? I hope BR realised tonight we're not good enough to invite pressure. That said, Toure and Sviatchenko need time. We could do with a RB. Another nervy game, I think the psychology dept. still have a bit work to do with this group. Overall, job done, I'd rather scrape through than fall at the last hurdle.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 21:47:16
Chris Sutton called it all perfectly tonight

Some players don't have the big game mentality

Oddly enough the CL itself will be less pressure because we're there : getting there is pressure

What did we learn in that 90 minutes

McGregor must have caught BR in a compromising position with janko ; that can be the only explanation

In all seriousness TOO MANY big players just melt and disappear

Even our subs were irrelevant

Rogic was sleepwalking through the 2nd half

Old bhoy what was your view? Noting that a change in manager equals a change in performance and discipline and mentality?

That was like watching a deila team

BR called final sub right: we seemed to settle down more with our back 3.

Brendan and saidy up a tree

It was a tactic. / a decision that ultimately didn't matter but would have been the root of retrospective analysis had they hit a 3rd.

To be fair to Janko, I wouldn't blame him for either of the goals.

Is there any scope of purchasing new right back. Tonight was frightening, can put lustig back out therevbut don't think he could cope with all the games.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 22:05:52
We would be mad in my opinion if we did not try and sign Callum Paterson from Hearts. Especially as he is in the final year of his contract, even if he cost 1 million he could be at Celtic for 10 years.

23 Aug 2016 22:39:11
Chris Gunter might be worth some consideration at RB.

23 Aug 2016 21:45:20
I know we've had injuries at the back but surely John Kennedy has to move on. BR only saved us when put 5 in midfield and 3 at the back. It never worked under RD so I'm sorry but time for him to go and get someone else to drill the defence cause we'll get found out in Champions League.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 21:45:03
Firstly you've got to congratulate the team on getting to the group stages however there can be no sugar coating that performance. Craig Gordon was dreadful, janko was horrendous all night long, could go on and on but too many passengers tonight. With this now guaranteed money I'd suggest we need more than 1 more signing.

23 Aug 2016 21:57:35
Glad that we have made it, by the skin of our teeth but we've Made it so chuffed for brendan n the players.
We were really poor on the night, I do think Roberts back playing will give us much more from the right, not only going forward n beating a man but just knowing when to hold play up n happy to accept a pass anywhere, nakamura was like that 4 us.
Hail hail the celts are here, it's always great being a Tim.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 21:41:27
If tonight tells us one thing its that Janko is by no means a player of the ability this club needs! He was a disaster start to finish, as for Craig Gordon that should be his last game as number 1 surely DDV cannot be any more a bombscare?

Don't think anyone played well.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 21:45:25
Well that was certainly a game to bring us all back down to earth. With £20m atleast now guaranteed we have to bring in another 2 or 3. I had high hopes for Janko but he has looked awful he can't defend or pass a ball. Our midfield was over run throughout the 90 minutes. Bring Roberts back in will make a huge difference but tonight has showed that we have a few players that are SPL level therefore we need to replace them. How anyone can say McCarthy would not get into our midfield is beyond me. Time Gordon had some time on the bench. Hope BR sees where he himself went wrong tonight it was the wrong 11 from the off. I said this morn i didn't get nerves. i still can't feel my legs!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 21:48:33
Agree Mgc, man for man we were very poor. Need a RB who can defend asap. Anyway, job done, can slate the performance another time. I need a lie down to give the old ticker a rest!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 20:48:51
So

Can they get any better? Hapoel I mean

Can Celtic be any less effective or any poorer?

BR was an expensive investment. He now needs to show us that he can get his team to react and respond to adversity

If we go out in a limp fashion and we go from bad to worse in the second half then we would be entitled to be disappointed and frustrated

I think we surely have more to offer

A wee goal like dundalks wouldn't go a miss.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 20:40:45
Surely Janko needs to be hiked at half time. Rodgers will surely see his defensive capabilities are non existent and with his confidence shot is an expensive mistake waiting to happen. Erik brought on with Lustig falling back into RB slot.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

23 Aug 2016 20:46:39
I'd also take off mcgregor and get rogic on.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 20:49:31
I think that's the priority to try and tighten up defense, but lately Lustig has been better at CB than he has at RB, but Janko is awful. Also, we are being over-run in the middle with McGregor really struggling and the two wide men being taken out the game; so we have a few things to consider?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 21:00:05

Weak Mental strength

Hopefully rodgers kicks the b#lls out of them at half time.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 20:34:03

Believable2 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 20:39:33
Janko off erik on

McGregor off and rogic on or Armstrong

Forrest is having a stinker too Forrest off with griffiths left and dembele up top

Tonnes of options

We need to give them something to think about

Also Sinclair not making good decisions. He's technically been the best but he needs to pass the ball more

We did look like a wee naive team in that first half noir captain was very poor too

Pass marks to toure and biton and Sinclair to an extent but the rest?

We look like conceding at every set piece.

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Aug 2016 20:05:08

5-2 we beat this team last week. That's a better result than we got in the following game against St. Johnstone. If this was a reverse fixture against St. Johnstone how many on here would have any doubt about the result over 2 legs? We have nothing to fear against this team as long as the defence don't crumble worse than they ever did under Lennon or Deila.

Been buzzing all day for tonight's game! Missed that feeling over the last two seasons.

COYBIG 🍀.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2016 19:15:41
So here's my take

Biton needs to get space between him and brown. They need to do different things and bring different qualities. My fear is that Nir will drop far too deep and almost peeve brown from having an influence. A bit like having 10 men because 2 are doing the same job

Is janko a smaller risk than oconnell in the middle. Well a right back can probably do less damage if they play a stinker. Hopefully saidy will be in pace and power in defence and attack

Rogic sacrifice was anticipated plus we have a great bench if plan a doesn't work

It's not a team set up to win in my view. I think we will lose this match but hope that the margin of loss will prove immaterial

Excited about qualifying but no chickens counted

For the avoidance of doubt ( all things considered) I think it's the right team given injuries fitness and experience available.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Janko will be RB with Lustig playing in the middle with Toure.}

I said the other day that UEFA would have loved to have giving us a rap on the knuckles and a token fine to get this out the way, it doesn't look like that's going to happen now. Have a read at this but be warned some of the pics are a bit graphic.

The most important thing is that we have raised awareness of the attrocities carried out by israel on the Palestinian people. It is also funny to see the media trying to put their usual anti-Catholic anti Celtic spin on our generosity. They have just shown themselves up for what they are, when the media in other countries around the world are praising us for the stand we have took. We were formed out of oppression and famine and hopefully we will continue to help people in similar circumstances around the world.

McCarthy, like Fletcher and Russell were linked with us before they were punted to England, either because we haggled on price or their clubs didn't want them to sign for another Scottish club lol.
Neither have shown anything really special to convince me that they would have been stars at Celtic.
I also think we are better steering clear of the inflated EPL market.

Honestley i think one of these signings will be paddy Roberts, before anyone starts throwing how much he cost city and all the other arguments against this at me. Think about it, he's a player that's not going to get game time at city. He loves Celtic to the bone. He will struggle to find a greater club that will love him like we do. Deep down I think this will happen, and I hope it does.

He's at Derby HT had a decent season last season but yet to get off the mark in this one. Not sure if he's deployed as a striker or on either wing for them or whether he's a regular starter but I'm sure he got 10 goals and 11 assists last season.

It will be a tough match, but I'd far rather be in our position than theirs.
The second leg results from the last 2 seasons against Maribor and Malmo would see us qualify, so unless there is a major collapse we should be okay.
Hapoel looked okay at Celtic park, but they don't look like a team that can beat us by 3 goals, as long as our players believe in themselves they should get the right result.

Very confident Kev. Looking forward to seeing the starting 11. I don't think BR will include both Eric and Paddy in the starting 11 maybe just Eric for experience. Hope all travelling stay safe.

Nerves are a good thing adds to the excitement. My nerves died after many years in the Middle East haha. Just hope we can get through the first 15 mins with a solid defensive display and no stupid mistakes.

i think we will get a goal or 2 over there, and i can't see them getting more than 2 goals against us, that's just how i see it now but it is celtic away on european night so i'm nervous as **** COYBIG HH.

Aye kev ma nerves kicked in after the game at the weekend lol! It wouldn't be celtic without a bit of nerves would it! Still expect us to be in the CL at half 9 tonite but! Let's hope we get an early goal! 👍🏻👍🏻🍀🍀🍀.

I would feel better if we hadn't gifted four goals in the last two games we have totally dominated and I hope the whole team hold their concentration for the full game and in particular - Gordon doesn't have a rush of blood and the defenders do their jobs.
They will attack and leave gaps, however and our forwards have all been on top form recently.

Do you think our travelling supporters are in any danger with everything that's went on this last week? Also I wonder how nir biton feels about it. Unbelievable amount of cash raised though hh.

i was thinking the same mate, how would the isrealis react about it to our travelling fans.

Nir Bitton's thoughts on the issue are irrelevant. He has his beliefs and others have theirs. The fan's display last week was not directed at him, Be'er Sheva players or fans. It was a statement against the wider politicide being committed by the Israeli powers-that-be. Our fans shouldn't have any problems as long as they don't go over to kick the hornets nest as it were. I didn't hear of any trouble between our fans and theirs in the first leg.

Said this last week regards flying Palestine flag. Its a different world across there, extremely volatile. Would not be surprised if some idiot fly flag across there and endangers our travelling supporters.

I see the ref in charge for tonights game is the same guy that sent of the AZ Alkmaar goalie after he was attacked by an ajax fan, anybody think like me that there might be a few honest mistakes against us tonight?

Bitton will have to stay calm, he has a habit of getting a bit hot in the head and he will be more aware of the atmosphere than the rest. I'd imagine their fans will give us a proper rough reception. Not conceding early is a must, one away goal and this is done but if they take an early lead.

I thought the referee in the home tie gave us some breaks and allowed the play to flow - which helped our style and he wasn't as fussy or frustrating as some European refs.
It's possible tonight's official may be a factor, but I am more concerned with our lapses in defense in the last two games and hope the team concentrate and perform for the whole 90-odd minutes.
We are scoring goals recently and the confidence should be high considering the ability we have up front to get a good result.

The ref had a good game in the first leg and why would there be a few honest mistakes when we are in Europe we should be good enough to beat this team if we can't we don't deserve to be in the CL.

Those lapses only happens after we were 3-0 up.

Bhoywonder can you elaborate on that? I know the domestic "honest mistakes" which get discussed are usually accredited to pro-Rangers agendas etc. but where would this come into play in Europe? UEFA trying to prove a point? Personally I think the referee in the first leg should have given them a penalty just before our 5th goal so I totally disagree with your original post.

Nail on the head kev, uefa proving a point pal. with the banners, flares etc from previous games, i just hope to god it goes smoothly tonight and there's no stupidity from our side ( f**k uefa banners etc. and also hope that i'm totally wrong with this post.
