I see that Rangers could be in soapy with UEFA over their inclusion of Bocanegra last week.

sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/rangers/267398-maribor-lodge-protest-over-bocanegra-eligibility/

Oh how we laffed

HH
/BB

Believable1 Unbelievable0

The complaint has no chance of doing anything, Rangers fully complied with UEFA rules. and both rangers and Celtic should want each other to go through as it is good for Scottish football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carlos Bocanegra was cleared by both the SFA & UEFA to play in domestic & european competitions on Wednesday.

Immigration is a different thing entirely... but don't let the facts in the way of a good story eh

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we continue to talk about rangers on this page , forgive me if am wrong but this is a celtic page and we have enough issues at home like why are we booing our own players why have our fatcats not backed our manager like we the fans have season ticket sales are up but spending is down time we all start asking the board these issues and let the rangers worry about there team.
Rant over hail hail
Mcgrath

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah they got clearance from the SFA and UEFA so it should be a nothing.

I'm wondering though whether the visa/work permit to play over here has any bearing on eligibility to work in Europe whilst being paid (effectively) by a company in the UK. Obviously he signed from a European club so it should in theory be fine, but he's effectively representing a British club and being paid by one all the while not having a Visa/work-permit, whether on European soil or not.

In normal jobs if you did say a six-week stint abroad (say six weeks in a research lab for specialist training as an example of something that might happen) and got paid by a british company would you need a European visa for that? Obviously we're talking 90 mins here so even then it might be different but still...

Agree0 Disagree0

From UEFA's website, August 18th, 13:46... Carlos Bocanegra has been granted international clearance which allows him to be part of Rangers' squad for tonight's Europa League tie with Maribor in Slovenia.

End of story.

Evening Ed007, when I was having a laugh yesterday about "send for Beltrami" looked up some interesting facts about him. He gave Donald Findlay QC his first start, how ironic is that?
He represented 12 murderers due to hang in the 50's and won everytime so much so that papers carried banner headlines Beltami 12 - Hangman 0
One case prosecution called 125 witnesses when a taxi driver was murdered, Beltrami cross examined ALL 125 of them and won his case
Maybe Lennon should "send for Beltrami" to get money out of Mr Desmond hail hail Timalloy {Ed007's Note - I knew that Findlay was Beltrami's protege Tim. He may be disliked but no doubt of his skills in the courtroom}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

No doubting Beltrami but have a look at when Findlay last won a court case.... more than 2 years ago, no bull, he lives on his past reputation.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know you would Ed. It'd be straight on here the second you heard it even if nobody asked. Its gone on for so long now that if it is gonna happen then we wont know for sure until he is in the country. So Im just gonna wait and see. Like you say there is too much being written and reported and it is impossible to know whats true. Hows life up here? Things a bit more positive after the result the other day?

TK-Red {Ed007's Note - You're joking mate? It is just building up for the Europa games on Thursday}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey TK RED, how are you?. Read wee Pat above hilarious.Ed007 will translate for you (after all "bond" can do anything
Back to Findlay, he might not be a good lawyer, but he can belt out a good tune, allegedly (the old lawyer training never fails) he is now in the window business I heard, specialising in SASH ones, allegedly Hail hail Timalloy {Ed007's Note - I'm not translating that!!! Afternoon bhoys and ghirls,

Alot lower half English premier league teams slagging the SPL off, now am just throw this out for dicussion, if our league isn't that bad, Spain la liga didn't fulfil there fixture list as the players where on strike over wages not being paid, and at least half of the teams are using something in the ruling basically if they in trouble the don't need to pay the wages. Also it now looks like the seria A has a little trouble to over money, the spl isn't pretty but at least we will still be a league in a few years as it looks across Europe alot of teams struggling, apart from barca who have massive loses but have wealth investors, Madrid funded by the king of Spain, these will stop soon and it will be interesting what's being said.

Also is it true that the spl got an automatic quailification place in the champions league next year??

Any just a point am saying about the state of all the football

Cumby bhoy

all right ed we jimmy hear i honestly think celtic will not sign anybody till jan now and if they do sign anyone it will be a loan till jan i think the board is to scared to put there hands in there pocket and give the manager what he wants its gone to be the same old story we nearly signed this player we nearly signed that player nearly is not good enough anymore we should just go out and sign 3 players and thats it sorted thats what i think anyway everybody has there own views tho hail hail {Ed007's Note - Hi Jimmy, welcome to the site.}

afternoon everyone lets stop all the negativity i know it was a poor result on sunday but we still have a good team and i am quite sure we will get a couple more in to strengthen the team before next thursday and of course we want to get through on thursday but if we dont its not the end of the world the title has to be priority also it dosnt matter if you dont like this player or you dont like that player as long as they pull on the hoops get behind them

oh deary me how fickle some of us are, calling for this that and the next, sack the board sack the manager etc etc etc (although I am away to have a mini rant about brown). Yes Sunday was shocking, and last Thursday was too, 2 games we should have won but we didn’t. Not the end of the world. Calls like this aren’t going to help anyone, not going to help us fans and our nerves and aggravated state and not going to do the team any favours by thinking we don’t believe in them and one thing I have seen in this team is that they are still a bit suspect confidence wise ( at times) . That said I still feel Brown is not the answer in the middle of the park, everything slows down when he gets on the ball and he almost always chooses the wrong pass. Yes he is good at killing the game for the opposition but he does the same to us when on the ball and is not therefore the best player to have on the park in every game All these results show is we miss Kayal and Hooper big time , Agree with the calls that we need another striker and we need to get a CB in, Dan is not the man in there by any stretch of the imagination (sure Ed will agree on that one lol). I could suggest names till I am blue in the face but there’s not much point as we cannot control who the club bring in (unless we are playing CM). If we have to go till January with what we have then so be it We will still play some nice football at times and continue to be the most entertaining team in the country whether we play well or whether we play badly and get a shock result its still entertaining (well maybe for the blue lot lol) still many reasons to be cheerful as a Celtic fan so stay behind the team, stop all this groaning and humphing at a misplaced pass on the pitch and growling at wee mistakes, you don’t cheer and applaud all the good passes but berate the poor ones (Yes rangers fans I am still upbeat)

So we will get there eventually, cant always be a struggling team like the last few years, we will overturn our friends in blue one day soon, its not the be all and end all of life, although does make it a little nicer from time to time.

Evinguu {Ed007's Note - I'm with you on Majstorovic, I have been saying it all along.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I agree about Broony, although I am a fan consideration should be given to using him more tactically ie less against weaker teams and when we dont need to kill the game. He has also had his share of injuries so taking him off or not starting him now and again would be no bad thing in my opinion. SO when we have to kill a game ie Sion when we go 1 up...he is fresh not nursing an injury as he so often does and manfully plays through it without whining.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seems to be the fans are making the players nervous...lets see how we fair away from home on Thursday ? (Does anyone know the chances of Sion being disqualifed after fielding ineligible players..I believe there was 2 ?)

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly the point i was making about Brown, used more sparingly when we need a bit more bite in the midfield is his role, not in a game where we need to be moving the ball quickly and beon the front foot. Agree with other poster too about the fans causing some of the uncertainty in the players although you would like to think that they should be preofessional enough to not worry about that, but we are the extra man when behind them spurring them on so we must have the opposite effect when we are on their back, Put it this way.... i play a sport called floorball ( played for GB so a reasonable level, check it out its awesome Henrik plays it too) and i know that when you are struggling the more you try the worse you get, its like that in any sport, Murray at wimbledon, he hits the net the fans groan, he tries harder and makes more mistakes, We as supporters should support, yes afterwards if it wasnt good enough boo or whatever it your right as paying fans to show displeasure, but right up until the final whistle there is the chance to claw games back and a bit more positve support would have a better impact, instead of jeering mistakes and becoming resltess support the team, get behind them when they do something good more, ole the strings of passes give them confidence. Its like that in any sport and yes professionals should be equipped to deal with that and realise they need to relax and not force things when all isnt going to plan but as a support we could do more, to often is Celtic Park a cauldron of negativity needs to change

Evinguu

( hope that makes sense, no time to proof read boss nearby lol)

I think after Sundays showing it is clear that we need a striker and a centre half. Stokes is a great player along side Hooper but Samaras must surely be on his way out. I like the looks of La Fondre but i know there is a lot of interest form English sides. On sunday I think it was clear to all that Big Dan has not got it. He should be using his experience to guide the likes of Wanyama through games yet it seems to be the other way about. I have never seen a 34 year old centre half that looks that uncomfortable. I would like to see a genuine experienced centre half to come in and sort out our clear problems at the back.
Over & Over
Danny B

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I hear ya Danny B, though ALF is no different to Hooper in reality, and therein lies the problem, do we sign another Hoops cos he's a cheap option or do we go for the Plan B type? De Negris for example, offers something alternative to the predictable style we seem to have developed?

I know what I want and it ain't the cheap Lge 2 striker just cos he's flavour of the month. He so lazy mate it's unreal, makes Boydy look like a grafter. Serious.

the state of the scottish game and any scottish teams performance in europe againist foreign teams, i believe is partly down to visa laws. we are are a back leg. il explain:

1. countries like spain, germany etc can sign cracking non e.u players who do a good turn for them.

2. This allows them to sign players from non e.u countries for buttons, sell them on for megabucks and reinvest.

3. This loss of finance for spl teams, halts investment in our own homegrown youth.

4. point 3 means that our players who have been nurtured through our club system, dont have as much value compared to other leagues r.e mcgeady

5. ESPN robbed the league

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Point 5 is the one we should all be talking about. How can Sky who bankroll English football for hundreds of millions ignore Scottish football to the extent they have. I will remind everyone SKy is actually BskyB there is a British in the name. They are licensed through the British Govt. Scottish subscribers pay the same as the rest of Britain. I want to know who allows them to make these business decisions which to my mind are rascist and unconstitutional. There is also a case for NI and Welsh teams but less so as their leagues were always weak and it is difficult to argue that they have been detrimentally affected by the imbalance that Celtic and Rangers have and to a lesser extent the Edinburgh Dundee teams and Aberdeen.

Agree0 Disagree0

2 Scottish sides have reached UEFA cup finals in the last 10 years, so why is our reputation at rock bottom?

I live in England and get ruined every other day for following a "pub team", I don't care and never will but this widely held view needs removing ASAP. Started with the national side and has now afflicted the SPL and its teams, those pesky English lot, trying to take our freedom again.

Shaunybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Gers fan here and couldnt agree more with regards to Skys distribution of TV cash surely there is some sort of boycott the fans of Scottish football can arrange.
You will tell me to bolt but Rangers had a BIGGER turnover than Man Utd in season 1988-89 English sides were banned from Europe but still. Old firm are worth about £100m whereas Man Utd at least £1.4b 14 times our value which has been assisted greatly by Skys regular payments to their bank. Raging that Swansea can play in Premiership but are Welsh?? Its Seems the Scots get F@@ked as usual
