The ideal pre-season for CFC would involve moving on the likes of Ambrose (that was marginal), Dirk, Pukki, Guidetti, Wakuso, Tonev and Stokes any other player nowhere near the first team squad on more than £3,000 per week!

We will lose Denayer. He hasn't made any positive noises which tells me that he fancies a shot in another foreign league (for a season) or bottom half or lower quarter EPL to get EPL match experience with the usual "can't play against MCFC rule etc".

The VVD will he / won't he isn't going to go away anytime soon. Best case is that he does a pre-season and is promised a move in January 2016 once we have Europe out of the way.

This means that we have a gaping hole in the middle of the back 4 and a lot of uncertainty. It won't be popular, but do we not think there is a place for Lustig in there or Mulgrew? I appreciate that big Chuck isn't the quickest but he could be deployed there and be reasonably effective with back to front distribution? Lustig can be moulded in any way assuming he has an injury free season.

We are then left with the enigma that is Izzy. His form has probably improved enough to merit the benefit of the doubt going in to 2015/2016 but we need a decent back up who can pressure him and let him know in no uncertain terms that he needs to cut out the obvious mistakes (going to sleep at the back post). None of our players are world class and even world class players make mistakes and so we (perhaps) need to cut Izzy some slack. Matthews still has to recover fitness and form but if he is settled, he could be like a new signing. It is a fitness thing for me with AM. Unlike many others when he is careering down the wing and hitting the byline, he actually does put his head up and cal my finds a CFC player in space in the box.

We need a 2nd string goalie with the ability to become number 1 without terribly much notice. CG has shown a degree of vulnerability but then he may get the benefit of a rigorous pre-season now that his future seems to be settled.

What we really need is a STRIKER. Griffiths, Commons, Scepovic, Forrest are not, for me at least, the answer. If we are to make room for GMS, Armstrong, Johanssen, Biton and Brown, then I think we need a striker who can score from crosses, can hold the ball up, and who can get in behind defences as the loan striker when we play a more counter attacking style. Not much to ask for!!

I have been wondering if the system RD deploys puts too much pressure on the loan striker, and given budgetary constraints and domestic league weakness, the player we actually need to do the role justice simply "does not exist" in CFC's world. That is to say that they do exist, but strikers that can do all of the things the RD set-up demands, is not coming to Celtic Park ever!!

I think denayer fancies his chances as back up to kompany and he's had a few injuries this year if that doesn't happen we might get him again with the possibility of CL FOOTBALL!

Paradise , I think that when Celtic are playing well and doing the things they are supposed to do Izzy isn't a problem at the back post . It is known at Celtic , just as it is known by our opponents that Izzy is very poor at defending the high cross into his corner , I have watched it carefully for years and almost all the time Scot Brown especially and others if needed are on the right side of our defence if the opponents are attacking that side , or have a man available . Brown prevents the long cross which is planned to cross over the centre backs and get Izzy isolated against a bigger physically mor powerful player .
Celtic recognise Izzy's strengths are breaking quickly from defence and supporting the left sided attacker .
It's not a case of Izzy falling asleep at the back post , it's a weakness in his play which Celtic try to stop opponents exploiting .

So we all know that we are in prime position to win the League, having said that its a case of where?
Away to Aberdeen
or Home against ICT
or just anywhere as long as we win it??

Any thoughts anyone

Im looking forward to tying up league and the preparations for next season.

Got a good backbone of a squad, will be interesting to see who arrives and who goes.

Players out:

Pukki
Boerighter
Balde
Zaluska
Mulgrew
Forrest (smoke coming off my rosary beads praying that much he goes)
Denayer
Fridjonsson

Surely that should free up at least £60k per week to get:

ST
CB
GK

DN 30. You can put your beads in your pocket as I can't see Forrest going anywhere .
I can visualise James and GMS running riot against most teams especially on the bigger pitches . I think this time next year even you will be singing his praises .

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Apr 2015 08:32:18
DN30 the main problem with that will be finding clubs to take these guys off our hands.

25 Apr 2015 01:26:20
Kevbhoy. Too true , it's very easy to talk about getting rid of certain players , doing so is entirely different .

And another sfa fu:k up is complete. Josh meaking can now play in the cup final. The guy should never have been punished after the game it wasn't his mistake. Honestly how Reagan and Doncaster continue to be employed is beyond me.

I can understand people saying that Meekins should not have been charged in the first place, but when he was, how can they now find him not guilty, it was such an obvious handball.
If the rules are wrong, then change the rules, or don't charge him in the first place, but to find him not guilty, when what he did was so damaging to our season, is almost adding insult to injury.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The thing that's sticking in my throat is that the SFA have twisted this to look like it was CFC that brought about or caused Meekings' charge. They've made a right cock-up of this whole thing and you've got to wonder how long some people within the SFA and SPFL can hold onto their jobs between this nonsense and last week's fixtures mess the SPFL made. Hopefully the recent murmurings of changes at the top come to something, perhaps some chickens could be finally coming home to roost.}

23 Apr 2015 19:44:59
Surely their days are numbered. They should of been rid of after sevco fiasco and the league set up. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that in order for scottish game to progress, we need a pyramid set up like in england where likes of spartans etc get chance to progress. How many players in these leagues get overlooked who are SPL quality?

23 Apr 2015 20:04:56
Perfect post Gary to me Meaking was SFA attempt to take away from the officials, Yes Meaking did wrong but all if not most players would have tried that to so I for one don't blame him. As for the officials there is no excuse in my mind and at least both should not EVER referee a professional game again in my opinion

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Apr 2015 20:39:30
Maybe bit harsh on the ref tony but I agree that the guy ( meeking) was hung out to dry. If the sfa come out and say the officials made a mistake then maybe it won't sit with people but it's still an explanation of sorts. But like everything else the silence is deafening and just like dodgy McDonald at tanadice the full thing has been a shambles. Embarrassing doesn't even begin to cover it.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2015 20:45:19
Dn scottish football has been in rapid decline since 1998 and the spl formed. 12 chair men voting on there own issues with little accountability. Self preservation has always been the way. Look at the setanta carry on. No one took the others to one side and told them to take the long established sky money that celtic Aberdeen and rangers all said at the time was the better option. We need one body with a back bone to run our game. Not the shambolic yes men we have just now.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2015 13:53:46
Again Gary can't argue with what you said spot on for such a small country with poor finances for our great game there is no need for 2 governing body's self preservation seams to be in place that is destroying what little we have left We need to have a totally independent governing body not tied to any one club with a good finance and marketing group in place to promote and govern what little is left

Stefan Johansen, Virgil Van Dijk, Greg Stewart and Adam Rooney have been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award.*

Ryan Christie, Jason Denayer, Sam Nicholson and Jamie Walker have been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

* Seeing as Craig Gordon is nowhere near it could someone check that Rayman is ok? (giggle)

I shocked ed, only thing I can think of going by recent posts is that it must be a conspiracy lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Pesky Masons! I've enjoyed our tussles over CG for the past year, Raymundo, but if I'm honest I'm a bit surprised myself. I thought he would have at least gained enough votes from the tea & sympathy brigade to be at least nominated.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him nominated for the SFWA (sports writers) award.}

23 Apr 2015 16:03:47
Denayer is a shoe-in and johansen would be my pick but VVD and 10 goals is very impressive!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2015 16:05:40
I'm a bit surprised Scott Brown wasn't nominated, I think he made a big difference to us when he came back into the team after his injury.
I think a lot of the work he does for the team goes unnoticed, but when he's not in the team, you see what a loss he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2015 16:22:28
ED007 admit it you were on the voting panel lol

{Ed007's Note - It's amazing what a funny handshake can do Tim.}

I think he will be now ed. glad to be of service lol if we all agreed it would be a boring world.Keep up the good work.

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate.}

23 Apr 2015 16:33:26
No Ed , when the tea n sympathy brigade realised that wee Griffiths held the all important tea cakes that was his chance gone lol

Seriously, Rayman am shocked to mate a thought he was a stick out to make the 4 a mean Greg Stewart ffs 1 free kick against United!

Personally can't see it but I am surprised CG isn't on the shortlist. Johansen for me then.

Hail Hail.

{Ed007's Note - He's got one hand on the Ballon D'or.}

23 Apr 2015 18:50:52
Van Dijk is in with a good shout. Not often a CB scores 10 goals in 1 season and I wouldn't be surprised if he scores more before end of season

CG saved us countless times in EL but hasn't been the busiest in domestic competition tbh

ED007 I see talk of Wannyama maybe going to Arsenal, do Celtic have a sell on clause?

{Ed007's Note - I think it's 10% Timbo, but that will probably only be on any profit Southampton make, deals like that usually are.}

{Ed007's Note - Keeping up with Gazza's numerous meltdowns is hilarious (rofl) The last one on Twitter went on for days and was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.}

23 Apr 2015 16:06:35
Think that's a wee bit outa order ed! The guy has addiction problems and mental problems I don't really find it a comical situation he's still a person at the end of the day.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So he should man up and sort himself out, there's no excuses. The guy's a clown and has had numerous very expensive chances to change - all thrown back in the people helping him face's.
If your brother-in-law or son-in-law was a raving alcoholic and drug addict with mental problems who knocked the $hit out of your sister/daughter would you say the same thing? 'Aaaww that's a wee shame'.... doubt it.
As for him being a person at the end of the day, so are the junkies stoating about Hamilton and I couldn't give a to$$ about them either.}

23 Apr 2015 18:49:13
Ed he doesn't mess around when it comes to meltdowns lol

SOS BHOY I have no sympathy whatsoever for any coward his raises his hand to a woman. If he wasnt famous for being a footballer and was your average joe bloggs, nobody would show him sympathy as he has had past few years.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You can't help someone who won't help themselves.}

23 Apr 2015 23:11:05
I agree with raising your hand to a woman but I know how hard it is to deal with depression and it's not just easy to man up! And wasting the help of others is bullshit and not all junkies are just pieces of sh*te people have horrible upbringings and abusive lives were not all lucky enough to be in the position we are in!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah it's difficult to deal with depression, it's difficult to deal with alcoholism, it's difficult to deal with drug addiction, Gascoigne isn't dealing with any of it, you man up and deal with it, real men deal with their problems, or they should in my opinion. All the help you need is only one phone call away. In 2013 Gascoigne went to rehab in the USA, the best people like Gary Lineker and Piers Morgan could afford, Gascoigne only agreed to go if it was somewhere hot and he could get a tan, did that help him or did he throw that chance back in their faces? If you are that low and you REALLY want that help you couldn't give a to$$ about the weather - believe me I know from experience.
By manning up I don't mean the old 'what do you mean you're depressed, get a grip' stuff, I mean man up, realise your problems and go and do what ever it takes to get back on track
And I'm sorry but if you're a junkie out on the rob, shoplifting Lynx deodorant and Yankee candles or robbing old women to get money for a score bag then you're a piece of sh*te, end of.
As for the horrible upbringings and stuff, I doubt Gascoigne had that hard a time growing up being the blue-eyed boy around Newcastle, and there's always X-Factor.
If you're not man enough to face and fight off your demons for your wife & kids then you're a washout, there's no acceptable excuses when all the help you need is there if you want it, even if you don't have Gazza's millionaire pals.
Show me an old maudlin pi$$-stained drunk that will sit and tell you how life treated him so hard and how his wife left him and took the kids blah blah and I'll show you a total loser who threw away everything for drink, whose wife had taken one beating too many and didn't feel safe in her own house wondering if she was getting housekeeping money this week to feed the kids.
The thing is with these people, it's always somebody else's fault, until they realise it's all their own fault they will never get to where they need to be, nobody forces that first drink down your throat or makes you stick a needle hanging out your arm, if you're doing it you're doing it because you want to, it's the most important thing in your life.
My pity goes to the people who deal with the aftermath, the wives, the mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters who all have to get on with their own lives while there's a drunken elephant in the room. People like Gazza don't need or want your pity, all he needs and wants is his next drink.
I have a very god friend who works with homeless people through the council, I'd bet if you asked her where her pity lay it's not with the drunk or junkie, it's a medal she deserves for the job she does and what she has to put up with. Half of them don't deserve her help and show no appreciation, that must be soul destroying and she's a better man than me for doing it.
I know it sounds heartless mate that's why I tried to explain myself a bit and there's a lot I'm not going to say in public, I just didn't want to come across all Katie Hopkins as if I didn't know what I was talking about, not to mention that I'm bored and wide awake! Here endeth the lesson :)

24 Apr 2015 02:17:42
I like a drink but it doesn't affect my life. I still make my work to put food on the table and a roof over our heads. The minute it starts affecting my life, I will stop, immediately. It annoys me when I see the pish stained jakies hanging about the town centre annoying decent people trying to get on with their business and harassing anyone who they want.
I'm with you on this one Ed, I have neither the time nor the sympathy for someone who doesn't give a monkeys for themselves never mind anyone else. It is a selfish existance filled with self loathing and self pity.
I only feel for the poor sods who have to put up with their crap.

I get it ed but I'm just pointing out that the initial bluntness was just black and white when most of life is in the grey area metaphorically speaking! Yes your right about the bad things that happen to other people my mother Inlaw also works in a similar field and so did my gran and my mum grew up with an alcoholic father who spent all the money but all I'm saying is we can't tar every one with the same brush.

He'll say and do anythin to impress that mob across the road! Clown of a guy! This is the same sevco who are scrappin it out for a playoff in Scotland's 2nd tier! Half wit!!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - John 'The Turd' Brown is priceless, I love it when he gets some press because he's your typical thick, pig ignorant knuckle dragging Zombie bigot.
If The Turd is flapping his jakey gums it's a good day to be a Tim, we know they're hurting but the drink must be affecting his memory again.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22422189

Imagine how horrible it must be to wake up every single morning of your life and realise you're The Turd! Like most of life's absolute losers and washouts he deserves our pity more than anything else.}

Well done bhoys last night was about just getting the 3 points after the semi final took it's toll physically and mentally on the team, and once again we look a much more confident team when GMS and Armstrong are in the team, hope the team rest up now until Sunday then another 3 points towards our rightful title. hail hail

Next season when there in the prem. It wasn't the in the prem bit that got me it was the bare face cheek to even talk of sportsmanship or integrity this is two words that should not ever be mentioned by sevco the rangers sports direct utd Or what ever there called now Frankie Boyle and Kevin bridges bet watch out they will be out a job soon any more talk like that coming out of them.
