PS, Neil Lennon was a great servant to Celtic and a hero in my eyes, fantastic jesture by him and his backroom staff at Bolton . I would have liked him to stay but can you imagine the animosity towards him when the hordes come to Celtic Park I really fear for the publics safety when we play them .
As Joe Walsh sung " life's been good" since their demise :)

Lovely bloke, sure has his faults like all of us, difference being that we all don't get ours plastered over the tabloids. The man was very open about suffering from depression, something we need a lot more of to reduce stigma and the awful stuff he has endured probably makes him one of the most, if not the most victimised footballer of all time. Used to slag him off as a player as I always thought he was far too negative even for his position but good god, how we missed him in the middle when he was gone. Love Neil Lennon, Celtic through and through and a total gentleman.

Heard mixed attitudes by people who have met him but he was nice enough when I had the chance once. No doubt this is a great gesture though.

Daviebhoy, poor cup records aside, NL really gave the club blood, sweat and tears. Genuinely a club legend.

As a footballer, aye he was a bit negative but did the basics right 99% of the time, which is an undervalued quality imo. NL really allowed Petrov and Thompson to play and was certainly a key member to the way we played, because he let players play.

Why he took that Bolton job on though I'll never know. It will knock his career back 5-10 years.

Hopefully a clean sheet tomorrow and a few goals although a 1 nil with an entertaining performance would suit me fine .

Just hope we don't pick up any injuries to key (any) players :)

I know people on here have different opinions regarding Neil Lennon as a manager and a person but I've just read that he and his coaching staff helped to pay the wages of some the Bolton staff who were to be affected by their financial problems. A wonderful gesture from them.

Neil Lennon has his faults and plenty of people to knock him, but been a good Nationalist from Co. Armagh it's nothing more than I would expect from him .

There is no doubt he had his faults and failings, but he served the club he loves as best he could as a player, coach and manager and although he was not as successful during his reign as he should have been - he had to contend with vile bigotry and atrocious treatment, that no other Celtic boss has had to endure.

Ed, have you heard about any strikers that we're pursuing? Getting into the last week and as much as I'd like to think we're doing our business quietly my brain is more inclined to think it's going to be a last minute panic and it'll be a loan deal for a 'who's he'

Hoping you've got some info to share.

HH.

{Ed007's Note - We don't need to sign a striker during this window unless one of them already here leaves and I can't see that happening. }

22 Jan 2016 13:12:08
The level of striker we need, ie start, will be more likely available in the summer. So not bothered about that position this window, unless we get Zlatan on a pre-contract of course.

sorry that wiz satan ma appologiez.

We don't need a striker? LG is on fire but that's a high risk strategy, if he get a knock/ injury it's not as if Cifci or Cole are scoring regularly. If we bring in a striker we can make a real push to get the treble.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Paying 4 strikers to compete for one position would be a complete waste of money.}

22 Jan 2016 17:40:54
I understand and agree ed that we don't need a striker in this window! However what happens come the summer window? Celtics policy for the past few seasons is to wait and see if we qualify before we sign any players! That's not going to help our chances of CL qualification! I think we need a striker to compete with Griffiths for our European campaign next season but I seriously won't hold my breath.

{Ed007's Note - The OP is talking about this window.}

22 Jan 2016 22:44:55
I think Celtic probably have a striker or two targeted . It may not be Celtic's fault if we don't manage to sign one . With LG in the form he is in, it won't be the end of the road if we don't sign one .

I see where your coming from but what happens if Leigh gets injured who will score our goals. We need a competent back up because ciftci and vole are not the answer.

24 Jan 2016 00:15:38
We have lots of players who can score goals GMS Armstrong Forrest, Commons, McGregor Bitton Rogic and others.

Is Rd trying to screw the nut this window?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Well it makes a change from Pedro screwing the fans!}

22 Jan 2016 00:50:32
rglen8 mate i might be wrong but is this not end of season for Scandinavian leagues? Players we are being linked with just now are from those leagues. Its clear ronny is finally getting a say in transfers. League is in bag. Bed new players in and next season, will be season to judge him. can't wait to see praises on this from now on regarding Ronny Deila.

I'm off to my kip post from above :) .
Dn30 it's the market we all would of wanted and expected us to buy from when Rd signed up.
Screwing the nut comment I made came from the stories of mutiny in the ranks and getting rid. Commons will toe the line because he will rot in the reserves till he retires. Stokes has been sent on loan. Don't know about SJ but he isn't happy and isn't signing. The squad has covered him so far and we have brown, christie and the new guy coming in.

Rglen8 i geniunely believe next season is the one we should judge RD on. Its evident now he is getting more of a say in transfers. Hopefully now we can do the trick in europe. We all want CL but i want a good run in a comp where we can all get excited knowing its not just domestic we are competiting, but europe.

Agree0 Disagree2

22 Jan 2016 11:18:15
DN30, last season we were supposed to judge him this season, now we have to judge him next season, if he fails again next season will we have to judge him the season after that.
I genuinely hope that he does improve next season, in my opinion it's very important for the club that he does, I think it would be disastrous for us financially, and damage our reputation if we fail again in Europe next season.
When we play the qualifiers in the summer, Ronny will have had 2 years in the job, he should know what is needed for these matches, I hope he stands his ground with the board, and insists on the players we need, it's in his own interests to do this as I can't see him surviving another exit.
Hopefully it will be third time lucky.

Gerryc your laughable. We are in running for treble WITH A TEAM FORCED ON HIM BY JOHN PARK. Even with that he is highly likely to deliver. Transfers identifed are clearly his this window. CL? Yes. Get yourself to a game and stop being a remote control hero.

22 Jan 2016 13:17:08
DN 30 I go to games and what Gerry has posted is spot on. We all want the club to succeed but Ronnie needs to deliver in Europe next season.

22 Jan 2016 13:31:25
DN30, what is a remote control hero.
I do actually go to the matches, that is how I'm able to form an opinion, or are fans that actually attend matches not allowed to voice an opinion on what they watch.
You say Ronny is in line for a treble with a team forced on him by John Park, but doesn't that prove the club were right all along to pick the players, and not risk leaving it to a man who has got everything else wrong since he was appointed.
Well done to John Park, hopefully he'll deliver us the treble.
