What a goal from Wakaso Mubarak for Las Palmas v Espanyol tonight .

He scored a good goal for us too. Unfortunately he didn't score too many.

22 Apr 2016 21:28:00
With all the on who the next manager is i thought I'd change it up a little lol. What's everyone's thoughts on signing jermaine Defoe in the summer if Sunderland get relegated he might just be affordable for our board plus I think him and griffiths in a 442 or one just behind the other would be really good for us especially in Europe, wether we would get him or not what is everyone's thoughts on him signing for us.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

22 Apr 2016 22:48:28
I think he'd still be out our price range. I think he's a great player, scores wherever he goes. Him and Griffiths would be a bit similar though and they'd never pass to anyone else! Saying that, with brown, johansen and bitton in midfield I might not pass to them either!

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Apr 2016 02:51:52
Griffiths is and never will be good enough for us in Europe people need to accept this.

He's an upgrade on Stokes where he can be relied on against the dross domestically but can't be trusted when we step up a level.

Agree0 Disagree4

23 Apr 2016 09:00:26
I would have defoe in a minute.

23 Apr 2016 20:20:29
Aye and I would keep Defoe a minute.

Looks like the sheep have bottled it that will put an end to all the haters who have been hoping Ronnie and the team won't win the league! You listen to snydes pundits praying we fail and all the usual rags columnists writing their negativity well get it rounds ye's FIVE IN A ROW well done bhoys πŸ€.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

22 Apr 2016 21:16:12
That means we can win the league on Sunday against Ross
11 points clear with massive goal difference effectively equates to 12 point gap.
Hail Hail.

Agree0 Disagree3

22 Apr 2016 21:34:25
I've got to say I'm not surprised ronnies going but I really liked him who knows if things might of being different had we recruited well in the 2 windows only those inside know who signed who ( I didn't believe Ronnie when he took responsibility for it) but it wasn't to be, perhaps he wasn't good enough. IMO I think it is undoubtable that Ronnie gave his all for the club and stepped down when he realised that it wasn't a good fit for both parties, so with that being said I think it is only fair we back him and our club into the 5in a row.

Agree2 Disagree1

23 Apr 2016 00:02:52
If you don'believe what he's saying what actually makes you rate him?

Agree0 Disagree2

23 Apr 2016 01:08:15
Bigp u say well done bhoys? Then why the hell are we getting rid of the manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2016 01:18:51
I think the manager answered that question . No progression has been made . Not sure why you seem more interested in bigp's opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2016 01:32:53
For whatever reason R D must have lost the dressing room . No other reason could explain Sunday's disaster.

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Apr 2016 08:51:24
Back to school for you paulbhoy if we win on Sunday we go 11 clear with 12 points available. Goal diff only counts in a tie on points. 😳.

23 Apr 2016 10:37:25
It's hearts game we can finish it off is it not?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2016 12:29:20
Incompetent management and poor tactics can explain Sundays disaster. If players believe the manager doesn't know what he is doing then that will influence the dressing room.

Jim1972.apologies
I misread the table as Aberdeen starting their post split fixtures last night versus playing their catch up game
Anyway, still a good result for us going into tomorrow and just postpones the inevitable
Hail Hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2016 20:27:39
The league is as good as over, The Sheep won't win their last four games .

if we played all season the way we played against them, I don't think we would have made the top six this season . If R D has been to blame for not motivating them then with him all but gone, we should win the last 5 games scoring 20 and conceding 2/ 3 .
However if players are not as good as they think they are we will muddle through which shows RD was doing rightly.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 21:02:12
All the papers and betting is all the same names but I don't think it will be any off them I don't know who it will be but I think it will be another name not being mentioned . another lawell piece of magic . if I could pick it would be Moyes.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

22 Apr 2016 21:59:01
I think talk of moyes Rodgers etc is wishful thinking from some! There's not a hope in hell of these managers comin to Celtic. there's far to many things against us for this to happen, salary and transfer for budget to name a few! Also with Keane MON and Michael oneill being at the euros this also rules them out IMO! Our 1st qualifier for CL is mid July so the timing makes it impossible! No I think Dempsey is right, lawell will pull some name we've never heard out the bag! Either that or it's a cheap option from the SPL!

Seen a few posters suggesting we are in need of a right back. 1 potential candidate they should be looking at is Conor mclaughlin of fleetwood town. Full internatipnal who will be starting at the euros and a player I've seen live a few times in the past couple of years, personally think he is a cracking player, still only 24, i'm amazed he's still playing at that level, can imagine him doing well for us although i'd imagine a few teams will be in for him after the euros.

It is an absolute disgrace how Neil Lennon is treated by the media and abused by knuckle draggers.

The reason I say that is due to his treatment at the Noel Gallagher gig in Glasgow. During the gig, which he attended with his missus he was bombarded with pints and verbally abused.

Now just imagine if this had happened to Walter Smith when he was out with his wife, can you imagine the furore of the media and the knuckle draggers. Both groups would be on the warpath and our name would be getting dragged through the mud. However, it is alright if it happens to Lennon.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

22 Apr 2016 16:20:21
I would have zero complaints if he was our next manager. The abuse he has taken and continues to take off them will only increase his hatred and desire to smash them at every opportunity.

Agree3 Disagree8

22 Apr 2016 16:39:58
RabMac I remember the papers and the news making a huge deal of the fact Neil Lennon got attacked down Ashton Lane and got sent bullets etc. while he was manager so I don't know where you're getting this attitude of them not caring/ ignoring it. It's a disgrace but what do you want? Front page? It happened late last night at a concert, I don't imagine there was much media in attendance apart from the showbiz/ celebrity reporters.

Agree0 Disagree3

22 Apr 2016 17:00:32
NL took over the debacle that Mowbray left, built a team to beat a financially doped rangers! won three league titles, reached the last 16 of the champions league, beat Barcelona and signed all the players who have made the club a fortune. He deserves more respect for his achievements as a manager. He did all this while he was subject to violence intimation and a campaign of terrorism, he had to move his family to safety in the middle of the night lest that be seriously injured or worse. I am sure like me, no one on this site has had to try and do their job with real threats to their life and their families life. Not only is he a good manager he is courageous, determined and loves our club. I would love him to come back as manager.

Agree4 Disagree7

22 Apr 2016 17:05:09
Kev bhoy, of course Neil Lennon brought it on himself . It's totally wrong that he is allowed into licence premises late at night . He should at least cover his red head .

Agree1 Disagree2

22 Apr 2016 18:01:12
Old Bhoy, where in my post do I even show a hint of suggesting Neil Lennon brings it on himself?

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 19:26:41
And it's also on the DR website now.

Agree1 Disagree1

22 Apr 2016 20:01:41
You obviously did not read the story Kevbhoy and it would appear that you also missed the vilification of Lennon by the media when he managed us. More often than not the media would use a picture of Lennon snarling because they wanted to paint him in a certain light.

Agree2 Disagree1

22 Apr 2016 21:34:05
I never missed anything RabMac. They reported on the street attack and death threats etc as I mentioned before. They have also now reported on the hassle he was getting last night. I never said they used to paint him as an angel. You're changing the subject.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2016 01:24:40
Kev boy I cannot recall saying that you said N Lennon brought it on himself . In fact I said that not you.

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Apr 2016 08:49:44
Don't worry Old Bhoy, he seems unable to comprehend what he reads and for that reason his opinions are best ignored, which I shall be doing in future.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2016 16:05:17
Old Bhoy, I took your comment the wrong way, I hold up my hands and apologise. And RabMac, your point was that the media would ignore NL's treatment at the Hydro, they've reported on it so I don't see what your issue is with what I've said but if you want to ignore me then by all means be my guest.

22 Apr 2016 13:57:21
Would anyone take Alex Neil from Norwich?

Believable3 Unbelievable6

22 Apr 2016 16:16:34
Defo mate. he would actually be my first choice candidate.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Apr 2016 17:01:14
No he has no experience of managing clubs when the pressure is to win trophies NL for me.

Agree1 Disagree3

22 Apr 2016 17:12:21
I think he could do a job. There are hundreds who could come and if things work out could do well, or on the other hand could struggle . Alex Neil would be on my list .
However to really change things, hopefully for the better I would go for WGS as Director of Football and the like of Paul Hartley as Manager .
There is a feeling that P Lawwell and J Park have too big a role in football affairs at Celtic Park without having to carry the responsibilities . I would have WGS as DOF as WGS would be very hard working attending matches nearly on a daily basis.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 20:22:00
Would have Strachan before Lennon any day of the week.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 12:13:18
2 names that stand out for me for the Celtic job are :

Markus Weinzierl ( Augsburg )

Jocelyn Gourvennel ( Guingamp )

Google their records very impressive.

But more likely it will be Mark McGhee or John Hughes after Larrson has knocked us back.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

22 Apr 2016 13:24:13
I'd be delighted with either! I've liked Weinzeirl for a while, the problem is they're both under contract. A year ago you would never of got Weinzeirl because of that incredible season he had, he had also been voted one of the best up and coming managers in the world and knocked back a few jobs including Schalke. It's all about timing though, he's been given nothing to spend again and supposedly wants a change. Both are around the same age as Ronny but more experienced, simply because of the leagues they are in, the pressure etc. I don't mind a young manager it depends on various things though, Yakin is around 40 also but done a lot already. If I could choose I'd go for an older head, but not for the sake of it. It's all about quality. Another couple of possibles I've spoken about to a few people are Alejandro Sabella, who does speak English and is super experienced, and this guy called Ivan Jovanovic who I remember from doing great in the Champions League with that Cypriot team. He seems very highly rated! There are plenty options, especially people who are out a job. Sampaoli, Bielsa and Sabella are all Argentinian as well, and for me Pochettino is the best manager in the English Premier League at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Apr 2016 13:37:58
Both good shouts. I actually missed Weinzierl off my list purely by mistake. He would certainly sort our defence out, which is a pressing issue. He's a bit of a win by a goal on the counter and park the bus sort of manager and there's be a few that wouldn't see that as the Celtic way at home, however in Europe it's an approach that, as underdogs, may be a safer bet.

Gourvennec on the other hand reminds me of my man crush, Klopp. His Guingamp side never approach a game like underdogs. Something which in Europe particularly I think RD tried more than any manager we've had recently. Could be stupid, could be brave. Depends on your mentality. But Gourvennec like Deila probably doesn't quite have the tools at his disposal to be able to do it with effect on a consistent basis.

Agree2 Disagree1

22 Apr 2016 14:23:22
Weinzierl for me if he would come but I know that is just a dream more chance of me winning the lotto than the board to do the right thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 16:49:56
That Augsburg fella, are you serious. He was a win percentage of 35% of games!

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 17:14:15
Delphic, he might speak English, but is that really an asset in Glasgow πŸ˜„πŸ˜€.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 19:30:01
His win % doesn't quite tell the whole story bestybhoy. And let's be real, if he had 50%+ in the Bundesliga we'd really have no chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 11:02:37
Ed, do you think there is any chance Deila could be moved to another role within the club?

The reason I ask, is that I think he has much to offer the club still and feel it would be a shame if we didn't at least try and accommodate him elsewhere.

I would love to see him in charge of the medical team and player development.

I know people will say that this cannot work but I seem to recall
Tommy Burns doing a very similar thing.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - There's no chance of anything like that happening. TB left and worked elsewhere before Kenny Dalglish brought him home.}

22 Apr 2016 12:35:48
I would love this to happen but just can't see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Deila, no matter what he says, wouldn't have the love of Celtic necessary to return to Celtic in a lesser position . T Burns was unique and as editor says there was a gap.

Word of advice to all the fans who are celebrating the departure of Deila:

Don't celebrate until you see who the replacement is going to be.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

22 Apr 2016 12:59:50
Does this kind of attitude not keep the split among the supporters. Not everyone will be happy with whoever gets the job, that's just life. And its just life that the current manager didn't make the impact most of us had hoped for. We should be pulling together now not posting warnings of Wait n sees and getitupyeez.

Agree0 Disagree2

22 Apr 2016 13:32:46
I'm not celebrating Deila's departure, but I'm glad that we at least have a chance of getting someone better.
People keep saying that we may regret his departure, but I have seen absolutely nothing in his 2 years in charge to suggest that he could even stop our decline let alone improve us.
If every manager in the Scottish premiership started the season with Celtic's players and Celtic's resources, I doubt very much if Ronny Deila would win the league, he hasn't got the tactical knowledge or the management skills to do so in my opinion.
Celtic should at least attempt to do better than that.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 17:23:04
Gerryc Please don't ridicule R D he is working out his notice . We shouldn't ridicule him as the next manager could well be worse . He is leaving now, he doesn't need or deserve any grief . He doesn't look to be the type of guy who will spend the summer writing a book about his time at Celtic and showing the club in a very bad light . Good luck R D, I will keep a passing interest in your career where ever it takes you .

Agree2 Disagree1

22 Apr 2016 10:03:51
I see Lennon has said that he feels we only need a couple of players in the Summer - well that's case closed then isn't it, that will be music to PLs ears!

Huge overhaul needed.

GK - a keeper to challenge Gordon and hopefully take his No1 jersey. Radjkovic of Tel Aviv would be my shout.

RB - Lustig needs a challenge/ a rest! I think the reason behind his poor form this season is that he has played so many games due to Janko's injury. Fisher deserves a chance so maybe no signing needed here.

LB - Emilio will be away so back up to KT required.

CM - Ajer obviously coming in and we need at least one more, Mocinic perhaps. Also think we need a big Wanyama type beast to dominate in there.

LW - For all the midfielders we have not one of them is a natural on the left wing. El Younnousi would be my number 1 target this summer.

ST - another goalscorer required asap. I'd go for Eran Zahavi of Tel Aviv who can play as a 9 or a 10. Also think Steven Fletcher will finally be on is his way to Parkhead. Not an exciting signing but is a much better option than Cole, Scepovic and Ciftci.

Lm 67 young Calvin miller isn't far away from first team give him the wide left till end of season see what he's got. zahavis goal record as an attacking mid is outstanding has been for years he can't be managed by dusan (agent) or wed have had him by now . the big goalie that's in mocinic s team looks good . I hope we're not building up a myth that young ajar can't fulfil let him break in easy.

22 Apr 2016 13:56:23
Dont think you should put too much pressure on Ajer, he is just a young lad.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 17:30:50
Would Ajer not be the big Victor type of centre midfielder.
I hope whoever comes in signs one or two very good players in their position.
Probably a striker and some where else ) . We have a stack of good youngsters both at club& on loan . We have youngsters that are just as ready for 1st team football as
K Tierney was this time last year .
If we buy 5/ 6 players again this upcoming window we will lose these players as they will become stale or develop bad habits on and off the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 09:21:26
Is ther any manger that's not been put in the hat for the job at CP, the fact is 90 percent of them wouldn't come near us with a bargepole, we are a feeder club for low ranking EPL teams why would any one in ther right mind leave a club that would buy Celtic players, to be the manger that has too sell them, we need to face facts we love Celtic and want the best for them but are board and majority share holders look on Celtic as a payday, simple as that get use to it because as bad as it sounds its true, I see no great signing coming, it will be Lennon or Stubbs as they know the Scottish game and can stretch a budget, I for one have come to accept this, and if we get O'Neil and Keane then it's a bonus.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

22 Apr 2016 17:40:25
O'Neill would certainly not be a bonus . I presume u r referring to MO'N . Martin was a fantastic manager at Leicester City and indeed also with Celtic although I thought at the time he was losing interest towards the end . For whatever reason M O 'N 's managerial star has waned since Celtic and he has struggled . At the ROI there are claims that he only views Irish players in the London locality where he lives .
We need hard working eager people just like O'Neil was in round 2000/ 2001.

22 Apr 2016 08:44:22
Time to bang our green and white drums! A disappointing season, but 5 in a row is not in the bag. Will you be there on Sunday? And bring a friend? Let's make sure there is a big crowd to cheer on the Bhoys to victory.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

22 Apr 2016 09:24:06
Yeah let's just forget about last sunday and carry on like nothings happened all because Deila is leaving. that's the exact attitude Lawwell wants to see cause he knows he will get away with it again!

22 Apr 2016 09:57:49
Explain that DN? The team should be cheered on till the leagues won then you can have all the protests and walkouts you like.

Dn30 don't you want to support the team to another championship like?

Agree2 Disagree1

22 Apr 2016 11:05:02
If we win the league then I don't see how it can be called a disappointing season. Yes I would have liked to pump newco in the cup and yes I would have liked to have played in the CL but I will be happy as long as we win the league and keep 10 in a row alive.

Agree0 Disagree3

22 Apr 2016 11:48:01
cmcbhoy ah i get it. Wait till season is over then protest, what use is that? Things will never change, last sundays failings and that of past few seasons under Lawwell will be swept under carpet and forgotten about. Lawwell needs to go and action must be taken immediately.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Apr 2016 12:05:10
I don't think anyone's disagreeing with certain failures. I asked this yesterday. What if there's a walkout and it has an impact on the team, we fail to win that game because of it and ultimately lose the league and 5iar. Would it have been a good idea? If you feel the need to protest fine but right now while we're still fighting for a title is not the time.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 12:53:03
I agree cmcbhoy, let's back the team until the title is wrapped up and then we can protest.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Apr 2016 17:50:21
Winning 5 in a row was our primary aim and hopefully it will be achieved . I still don't know what happened Sunday last, we have had many bad days and many bad performances over R D's two seasons . However I think on Sunday we reached a new low, it looked to me that most of the players were near enough " playing to rule"
5/ 10 mins start of 2nd half and 5 mins 2nd period of extra time . So many sat on heals, if they had only played another 10 mins we would have won . Sevco worse team we played all season .
R D did correct thing and stepped down.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2016 13:00:36
Wait until the game has been won, then walk out would be my vote. As for cheering on the players? They don't deserve it this year. They have been shambolic and that defeat was the worst. Totally humiliated us at the hands of a bunch of second rate fannies.

Lawell and Desmond need to be shown we blame their complete lack of balls and ambition.

Or do we just let them continue to take us to an even lower level whilst congratulating ourselves on how great fans we are?

Get the board told when you're there. They deserve nothing but contemp.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2016 13:18:01
Five in a row should have been a given. If that us the level if your ambition then Lawell will be inviting you oot for a drink.

We should have been looking to qualify for the CL. We were a shambles and our lack lustre performances and that total humiliation last week tells me this season has been an unmitigated disaster.

I could have steered us to the title. Plus Ambrose or Johanson wouldn't have played at all and who knows what could have happened.

Ronnie or anyone playing Effe shows me they haven't a Effe clue.

Ronnie failed on every level and the back if the cringeworthy Ronnie Roar is one chunk of light for me.

Effe
Johanson
Canny Cross Forrest
Cole
Sepcovic
Cole
Boyata
Kasim
Stokes
Izzy
Gms
Mcgreggor
Ciftci

Plus all the other loan disasters Ronnie "sanctioned".

Think of all the money wasted in these players and then tell me Lawell is shrewd.

I don t think most fans lists would be much different. Some would get rid of more . but its obvious we need to clearout most of our present squad the midfield and forward line especially.

Would keep Armstrong and drop him deep into biton or browns role.

I'd keep Bitton and think CKR deserves a chance to show what he can do if the new manager goes with the much demanded 4-4-2 (I hope he doesn't) . . . I think his hold up play is excellent and would be good beside a poacher like Griffiths.

We need to at least try to win League next season, some of the players listed for the off could well turn out better than the "stars " that we buy in .
Honestly if we clear out a list like above, we will struggle badly.

Why do some people believe we are definitely going for who the media say when are they ever right about our club? the names linked aren't as bad as some think either the main thing I would want from our next management team is a bit of experience the last time we pushed the boat out was Martin O'Neil remember how excited we where for him would love someone like him again.

One name that usually gets mentioned but I've not heard yet. Stuart Baxter! Was he not close to getting it a few years ago?
