Mate just sent me a fab post of highlights from Lubo's Old Firm debut. Forgot how amazing that day was! Also, thinking to myself, how many of those players did they actually pay for? Actually forgot they had Arthur Numan too! Kanchelskis-lol!

They paid for the players just illegally.

The 33 year old who cost 330k ripped em up that night despite the best efforts to end his game early.
Think it was Wilson who halved lubo and the wee man dusted himself off and ran up park and scored.
Absolute legend.

I was in Israel at the time of that match. Was at the time the internet was in its infancy and we were still using VCRs. I remember my mate sending me the video of the match and watching it in the hostel with my crazy Serbian mate, who was a big red star fan. We destroyed them that day.

As much as I would love to sign him, I really can't see us meeting Everton's valuation of the player.

Gueye is going to African Cup Of Nations in Jan/ Feb, can't see Everton letting McCarthy go in the next window.

Said from the start I don't think we could get near what they would want for him! And we'd struggle to match the wages! Would like to see it happen but think it's a non starter. heard we're supposed to be interested in Jordan Mutch, don't know if there's anything in that but!

Too much money for not enough return with McCarthy I feel. There must be better out there for the money it would take.

I just don't think he is the type that will lift us to another level and that shoukd be the goal. We have resources but they need to be used wisely. The cost with this signing I think is too much.

We would be paying for a Aston Martin and getting a Golf GTI.

A lot more than he is worth. Of course it's all talk just now. It might be they would let him go for a couple of million. His wages would obviously fall but even if he takes a 50% cut then that's still £30k a week and he synth worth that.

He isn't a creative player. He isn't a good dribbler. Rarely makes world class defence cutting passes. He's a grafter, a good player and I wish him no ill, but for a combined outlay of £5-6m is a waste of money when a younger, more technically gifted player could be brought in for the same money.

I just think it would be a stand still signing.

I never said that. I said if his main target is a creative midfielder then that rules McCarthy out. And it does.
