7inarowcoybig, when Boyata has a good game, he's worth 7m, why not wait until after the WC and get more if he performs?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2018 22:44:06
I doubt if there is any chance of any deal done for Boyata by another club or Boyata signing a new deal with Celtic until long after Belguim are out of the World Cup.
For one thing the Belguim FA are unlikely to allow any contract with Boyata.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Agents can and are still working on deals during the WC, Chris.}

22 Jun 2018 22:24:32
Of course, agents work all through the transfer windows on deals, as well as before and after windows, they rarely complete and close a deal when a player is on a
international tournament.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Man Utd just signed the Brazilian Fred who is on WC duty in Russia.}

23 Jun 2018 11:50:37
there's no way lawwell wouldn't take a 6 million profit on boyata, he would hire a private jet out of his own obscene salary to get boyata to rome.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2018 23:45:47
Ed007 is Fred 's transfer not more the exception than the rule . I heard the Fred transfer was all but completed before World Cup had started, about a month ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Transfers are complex things as you know Chris and can take months to finalise. There will be plenty of agents working on deals for players that are at the World Cup and the player will be getting kept in the loop, when there's a buck to be made the Devil know no rest.}

21 Jun 2018 21:06:44
Even worse than watching World Cup when England win - watching World Cup when one of their (many) bitter rivals loses. The fake sympathy, gloating and mocking sums them up.
This tournament might well give the SNP their biggest boost since 1314. Ha ha ha.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2018 21:42:39
In previous years England boasted about how they would win the World cup because they had lots of world class players.
This time they are adopting a different approach. Apparently they don't have lots of world class players but they can win the World cup because nobody expects them to and Gareth Southgate is a nice guy.
It's certainly a new way to look at things.

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Jun 2018 22:47:09
I expect the FA will offer Rangers millions for Gerrard to help out now that Gareth S has a cold shoulder.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jun 2018 00:48:06
Guys all joking a side, there is no stand out team,
Spain first half against Ronaldo
Mexico
Croatia tonight?
England for first 30 minutes?

Let me be first to say it, they could win it!

OMC, With Jimmy Cranky in charge of the SNP i don't think that vote will happen.

21 Jun 2018 19:51:33
Ed007, without naming names, do you think we're looking at a transfer window that clearly states our intent? HHa.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Haven't we already done that by splashing out on Edouard?}

22 Jun 2018 13:17:56
We had Eduard last season, we haven’t strengthened.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - But he wasn't our player and had returned to PSG so we have strengthened and to say otherwise is just being unnecessarily pedantic - or stupid. What about Morgan and Christie, they've strengthened the AM 3 and Scott Bain is debatably better than Gordon and definitely de Vries so we've also strengthened the GK department.}

21 Jun 2018 19:20:26
Wanted to ask a a question into how Fifa might improve the game. Watched a lot of the world cup and
After the obvious play acting during games with players going down and rolling about and also taking the piss when being subbed (Mbappe)
Do you think when the play is stopped on these occasions that the clock is stopped as it is in Rugby for injuries. It might cut back on the play acting when you then get players jumping up and running about, it would also cut back on the usual arguments and complaints regarding refs not adding on enough injury time.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

21 Jun 2018 20:06:41
Absolutely, it makes perfect sense.

Agree4 Disagree0

21 Jun 2018 21:19:44
Great idea.

Agree2 Disagree1

21 Jun 2018 22:50:21
The games are boring enough without stretching them out to cover all the time lost through injuries and substitutions.

Agree1 Disagree3

22 Jun 2018 00:26:25
I remember reading an article a few months ago about some changes to the game that FIFA were considering. One said that the ball is actually only in play for about 60 minutes a game on average. So they were considering making games 60 minutes long but stopping the clock anytime the ball is out of play similar to what they do in rugby.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jun 2018 00:51:15
I know totally daft but how about giving a place to a UNICEF team drawn from players from all continents from teams that never made it, Griffiths, bale, van dye etc.

Too many beers and off to bed

Sorry gents.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2018 10:26:35
Chris were you saying that when Porto did that to us in Seville? Of course extending the game to cover people cheating is a good idea and would cut it down. I would also use VAR to book players who go down untouched all over the park.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jun 2018 17:58:16
I really do hope the Scahr rumours are true and that we are working to make a deal happen. Players agents are still active during the World Cup and deals can be made. Hopefully we do cement that Centre Back position with a player or two of real quality. We should still have sufficient funds available within the club to bring a few more first team players in. French Eddy seemed to come in with everyone unknown of the real fee. What's everyone else's thoughts?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2018 22:04:14
Who cares what the fee is as long as he was signed as he looks like a terrific young player.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jun 2018 12:44:33
I care about the fee out of interest. Hardly slating the quality of player. I agree with you.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2018 17:40:06
Same thing happens every transfer window. People do nothing but complain, accuse the board of not spending money.
Maybe people would be happy if we signed 5 or 6 players in the first week and didn't do any other business, no wait.
The board would then be accused of bringing players in just for the sake of it.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2018 17:59:55
Or signed the first player available like sevco 😂.

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Jun 2018 19:53:52
Sevco have added a few half decent signings and spent money maybe they truly think they can compete even though we finished 12 points above them even though we through the matches against Hibs and Aberdeen, after Logan's reaction though would we ever do Aberdeen a favour again.

21 Jun 2018 20:43:47

Our focus after winning the league was the cup final and we took our eye off the ball (so to speak)

21 Jun 2018 22:54:28
They had more to play for and it showed.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2018 14:40:05
Hi Ed I know we keep our cards to our chest about transfers but I am not getting that fuzzy excited feeling with what's going on. I know we are doing cosmetics around and in the ground but what's the point if we don't have the class players for it. With the champs league money going up this is certainly not the time for us to wait and see if we make the group stages. we barely made it last year.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - I'm sure you'll have plenty of fuzzy excited feelings before the window closes.}

21 Jun 2018 15:48:28
We beat Astana by 4 clear goals on aggregate last year (with 3 more away goals) and didn't concede any goals in the first 5 of the 6 games.

Agree4 Disagree2

21 Jun 2018 16:06:48
I agree scoop, these games could’ve went either way last season and year before, eventually we will pay for having a policy of being asleep at the wheel in the transfer windows.

Agree1 Disagree3

21 Jun 2018 19:54:44
Beating Astana isn't going to get us into the last 16 though is it.

21 Jun 2018 19:13:17
Ur response there ED sounds like there is something happening or going to happen fingers crossed ED.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Of course things are going to happen.}

21 Jun 2018 22:08:27
Rodger has stated we are in negotiations with 4 players they might all be for the same position though as you never know what can happen during a transfer and you need a plan b, c, D. So let's just wait and see. He has never let us down and the board are willing to back him.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jun 2018 10:33:32
I know we are bringing in players but you do get that feeling of hurry up. As long as we get the right players is the main thing, not pandering to the impatience of us all. Although I still hope they hurry up with the right players. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2018 12:33:25
I have said for a number of years celtic should extend capacity at Celtic park. I know if we did some seats would not be sold for smaller Scottish games? I work NHS I cover shifts I had to give up my season ticket as I was missing more games on a regular schedule than I wished. If celtic was extended I would or could get tickets to games I want to see. Am sure not only fan who misses out and 4500 to 7000 thousands on an atmospheric celtic park just would make the stadium all the more accessible for some who don't get as much time as we hope.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

21 Jun 2018 13:53:47
Would be waste of money. Personally believe we have a hard-core 35000/ 40000. Which will go regardless of Celtics position. Take sevco not been their and Delia tenure for example.

At present demand is through the roof due to Brendan effect and the possibility of doing 10. That won't last forever.

Rogic is a far better player than he was under Ronnie just hope he isn't advertising himself in the transfer window for a move south.

21 Jun 2018 10:51:25
Lots of posts regarding the transfer activity, or lack off, from Celtic. Why? surely everyone knew on a World Cup year it was going to be slow. Players in our range know this is a big shop window for them, so they naturally won't commit till all options are looked at.

There is still a considerable amount of time left in this window, but having said that if we are not already down the line with some, it could be protracted and we don't need that. French Eddy is a big outlay for our league, but not for Celtic, as this is what we should spend on quality.

Christie, who i believe will really come on this season, and Morgan are additions, but additions to a squad who looked a bit weary at times last year. I would think they will be used to freshen up the team before/ after Euro trips, a good move for me.

The kicker is the ready made first team player, the straight in and make a difference guy. We may have to wait a while but it's a vital signing, or signings. We need good European ready players but Russia is full of them right now.

21 Jun 2018 07:11:47
So, pre season training has just started. 6 weeks of the transfer window remain. 1st team squad players along with youth players deemed not good enough have been released with more to follow. We have signed Edouard for a record transfer fee, have tied up Ajer, Bain, Rogic to long term deals with Griffiths deal imminent. We have Morgan and Christie returning from successful loan deals. Yet people still moaning, the board will let them down like every other window? Wtf! Has BR not built a team these last 3 transfer windows. Do people think it's as easy as picking a player and Celtic signing them within an hour! The player has to want to come, the club has to be willing to sell, fees to be agreed, wages to be agreed, the minute Celtic show an interest other clubs then show an interest, clubs that can offer silly cash. Ed007, I feel for you having to go through all these comments there now seems to be an abundance of people wakening in the morning and spashing misery milk on their coco pops. It has become so bad i've decided to now take a break and go enjoy the summer away from these doom and gloom merchants, their negativity is spreading like wildfire. Will be back on when the new season starts. Keep up the good work, you deserve a medal. Ed001 please get in touch via email if you have any boxing legend updates i'm looking forward to reading Watson and Johnson. HH.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - hey mate, just in the middle of sorting out my notes on Arturo Gatti. All being well it should be up in the next couple of days, though the World Cup is slowing me down. So many games at this stage that it is difficult to get anything much done!}

21 Jun 2018 07:56:38
Excellent, I did read up a bit about him after talking to you last week. It was actually Alfonso Gomez he fought, i think i said it was Manfredo Jr. I knew it was one of these contender guys. It was Manfredo who fought Calzaghe. Be a good read so keep me updated thanks.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he fought a Menfredy, that was who I thought you meant. Gomez was his final fight. I will mate, just a lot to sort out notes-wise, particularly with his death and aftermath being disputed.}

21 Jun 2018 09:37:36
Sorry to pour misery milk Stan but all Celtic have done is consolidate this summer not push on in my opinion. Bain doesn't improve over Gordon. Morgan and Christie I wouldn't be sure about starting consistently. Eduoard good bit of business but will he start or better Moussa? Ajer and rogic are good resignings to give stability but don't you want to see players signed who improve us? Remember we will be missing boyata, lustig, gamboa, rogic and Roberts for vital start to season.
I also don't buy into the transfer window is just opened crap Brendan admitted our performances were unacceptable far too often last season so recruitment was and should always be part of improvement and players should be identified well in advance.

Agree6 Disagree6

21 Jun 2018 10:30:04
I have no doubt they are identified in advance
Maybe the club has tried to sign players or put out offers
This doesn’t mean the players will sign early especially in a World Cup year.

Agree2 Disagree1

21 Jun 2018 13:19:09
Jim be careful there, too much negativity 😂😂

I agree with you but we all have our opinions at the end of the day and we should be more accepting of peoples thoughts instead of slagging them or calling them negative.

We all have different standards after all.

Agree2 Disagree1

21 Jun 2018 14:55:13
Cheers kev but I don't think I was being negative or slagging anyone merely stating my opinion which I agree everyone has. If the negativity and slagging was aimed at Stan fair enough👍.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Jun 2018 16:43:42
Wasn’t meaning you Jim

There are folk that think having an opinion is not allowed if it’s not all positive.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jun 2018 17:28:33
It ain't slagging people off when you say they are negative. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but when the same people are on here daily constantly moaning because of what we are or are not doing it becomes utterly depressing to read. There is 6 weeks left of the transfer window and people again moaning. I did reply earlier Jim but it hasn't been posted. How do you know the club have not bid for players? The board are going about their business and the media have no idea who we are talking to. that's the way i like it. Anyway i'm away to enjoy my summer. Cya.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't see a post that didn't go up, Stan......

21 Jun 2018 18:58:53
Stan I have no idea if the club have or haven't made any bids but as a fan I think we should have had a couple of players brought in who improve the starting eleven and are here for pre-season training to raise standards. enjoy your summer break 👍.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jun 2018 19:57:17
Scott Bain is not Celtic quality if Sevco signed him we would all laugh at them for signing a dud I'm underwhelmed by this he would be a third choice keeper at best.

My comments are not aimed at you either but in general it happens when people have a difference in opinion.

Read your over rated 11 Ed and didn’t realise how spot on some of your views were! Always thought Maguire was a good defender but seen a little bit of England game and couldn’t believe the passes he gave away!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, I have never understood why Maguire is beloved by the media. I have watched games where they literally ignored every loose pass or blamed them on someone else! It made me end up turning the sound off to stop myself throwing something at the tele.}

21 Jun 2018 07:29:31
That and your Kane analysis I read Merson saying he has to work harder on his hold up play and work outside the box and how he was actually poor although he scored 2 goals. Great reading.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, I really appreciate that.}
