Good afternoon ED,
Just wondering if you've heard anything regarding the extent of Dembele's injury? Keeping my fingers crossed that no news is good news. Thanks!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's not meant to be anything serious but he'll be monitored over the next couple of days.}

21 Jul 2018 17:15:56
ED is there an opportunity still for a wildcard signing before Wednesday?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Well we can sign one until midnight on Tuesday so yes.}

22 Jul 2018 00:05:35
Cheers ED thanks can't see it happening but no matter its good to know that the possibility is there.

Me either. Think Peter has went off on holiday.

Well that’s reassuring. We need to improve our defence and it flip flop time? I certainly hope not, he’s got more important things to do than work on his effin Tan.

3-1 to Celtic u19.

I'm not a regular viewer but I thought they were exceptional. Passed the ball well, including from the back, with some dynamic cross-balls especially to the left wing. Aitchison might've been more clinical on occasion. Henderson looked keen and can run or pass in a way that made him stand out.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 07:36:23
Heard from a pal who watched it said young Henderson a stand out.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 11:39:52
He was good but the bhoy Kerr mcinroy was the other stand out not as flash and showy as young Henderson but kept everything ticking over . kevbhoy mazis wasn't as good as the hype but wasn't bad. an off game? Thought the other young mid grant savoury looked better.

The lack of signings is a worry, last season we played forest as our main striker with Biton at Center half in the qualifiers. Rolling the dice will eventually lead to us not progressing and the board not getting deals over the line sits with them. Brendan being the professional he is will have handed his targets over before the season ended. Get the players in now and let's see how far we can go. Hail Hail.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

21 Jul 2018 21:02:09
This hysteria regarding signings is starting to get tiring. Its the same every transfer window.

Agree2 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 22:01:29
Jonbhoy, can you please let me know what part of my post
Was showing hysteria? Do you think it’s good practice to be going into the biggest games of the season without proper cover?

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Jul 2018 21:58:20
it is the same every window, i feel we have the best squad we have had since oneill era and probably more strength in depth, i would just urge the signing of an accomplished ch asap, jozo and boyata were shown up in the champ league and it is easy to forget as they have both looked good in patches but i wouldn't miss either of them, if we could just push the boat out once in the ch position i feel we could guve a real go of it in europe as the rest of the team is flying, i seem to remember a similar scenario when strachan was in charge and we bid for a ch from the french ligue 1, lorient possibly but they were looking for 7.5 and we pulled out, nit saying there isn't a ch in the pipeline but we are missing a great opportunity if it diesnt happen, teams like this don't come around all that often with the calibre of player we have at present, 1 out and 1 in im hoping for✌️🇮🇪.

Agree3 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 00:09:17
Lets be honest. Its not the biggest games of the season, as whether we make CL or EL we don't have the resources to compete. Very negative, but we need to sign below that level and hope they're good enough to compete in Europe next year.

22 Jul 2018 09:14:11
NT what are you talking about? Our club finances require champions league participation. Without it we would be lucky to break even, we have a wage bill of over 40 million per year. Don’t kid yourself, not qualifying for group stages would be a major blow at this early stage of the season. For the record I expect to go through against Rosenberg. After this round I hope to see some new players that will go straight into the first team, with a few bit part players leaving. Hail Hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 09:35:11
We need champions leauge group stages. Others saying we don’t are off there head! 40 million pounds is a massive sum of money. We need it. We need to sign better players. We need to qualify. End of. If we don’t we will blame the lack of signings and World Cup. It’s about to come up at over 2 months the window has been open and we have 1 signing.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 18:36:34
The main reason we have won back to back trebles and qualified for Champions League twice in a row and had European football after Christmas is because of continuity of squad . This builds up team spirit, and a great determination to win . Everyone knows his team mates strengths and weaknesses and take advantage and assists where needed .
Two years ago every sensible supporter would have been more than happy if they thought we were going to achieve what we actually have over the last two years.

Can see why Rodgers likes Henderson so much. Looks like the next young player to come through and get a chance in the first team.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

21 Jul 2018 19:15:10
It’s exactly why we should be giving our young players a chance and not developing other teams. Future does look bright with young Henderson, maybe he could be Armstrong’s replacement in a couple of years.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 20:46:15
Henderson is a brilliant prospect but I think a little lightweight for now . Keep him playing and developing in his age group and he will be brilliant for us in years to come .
He isn't alone we had a very good well balance team and the poor commentator was devastated .
We were not suppose too win.

Chris Sutton again claiming Celtics transfer dealings are bizarre. Sure he is only an EX player with an opinion. But I completely agree. A lot at stake and we are mucking around again, McGinn now cup tied, there are no other players being quoted either. Had no inklings of a signing for over a month now, other than McGinn and the deal is still ongoing.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2018 17:18:21
Every year we have fans moaning about this. Its difficult enough to get the quality in that we want never mind get them in early in the transfer window. The players we want will have options and most will want to assess those options.

I have no doubt the club could have signed a whole new squad by now but then we’d have uproar cos of the poor quality of players being brought in.

Let’s just wait and see how it goes first eh.

Agree3 Disagree2

21 Jul 2018 18:29:25
I agree quality players in our price range is difficult, but surely a deal should of been made with hibs for McGinn, and hibs have now quite rightly cup tied him.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2018 18:31:38
My point is there is a lot at stake. Champions leauge football is needed to continue bringing in quality. A lot of people over look that. It’s not going to be an easy route to the groups.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2018 19:15:45
AndyH - we aren't talking about signing Chiellini. We are talking about signing better than Boyata or Simunovic which is well within our capability.

We needed better in the position when Rodgers first came in and still do.

The board need to back him. I know a lot of Celtic fans just can't see a bad word ever said but it's the truth.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Jul 2018 20:50:00
The problem about Sutton giving his tuppenies worth is that we all remember him favourably as a top player in a very good Celtic side, many may forget he was atrocious as a football manager taking Lincoln to the bottom .

Agree0 Disagree3

21 Jul 2018 21:05:23
Old man chris. I don't care about Sutton. Our season has started. Our most commercially attractive games
We always should have our squad in place for at least second CL qualifier but every season its the same story. It is not just thst BR has been unlucky. Not since maryin o'O'Neill have we ever got business done early. (Yes i know about john hartson) . The transfer signing timing is ridiculous and same every year and we wonder why we do nothing in CL.

Agree2 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 21:14:00

Its Hibs that are taking a huge gamble.
We know that McGinn only wants to sign for us so there is no point in paying over the odds for a player that we can sign for free in 6 months. They could have taken probably if the stories are true £1.7m + Allan and us giving St Mirren their 20% now or in Jan we get the boy on a pre contract and maybe offer 500k for him to come in in Jan or they will get nothing.
He won't go straight into our team right now anyway and would probably sit on the bench most of the season or he can stay in the hibs first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 08:28:33
That’s true jonbhoy, but there’s nothing stopping an English championship side or a bottom epl team taking a wee punt on him at £4m, yes he’s into his final year, but I’m sure a deal could have been made for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 09:12:50
I agree Tesla. Finding and securing a replacement for Boyata or Jozo really shouldn't be that difficult and not buying someone with severe knee problems anf suspension prone is madness.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 10:44:04
And a total waste of the fee of £1m plus wages. The only game time he has had he looked another bombscare. Just what we need. What’s wrong with us that we cannot buy a defender who improves us? They are all of a standard that has shown when we play good teams they collapse. Anyone doubting that check out the goals against over the last three years in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2018 13:29:53
Looks like your having a one man fight defending the club here Kev. once my hangover calms down I’ll give u a hand 👍🍀.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

21 Jul 2018 16:05:48
Same every window Welshy. People just looking for an excuse to have a pop at the board.
They will go out and celebrate us making history but at same time give the people that helped make it happen no credit at all.
Boards a disgrace and the teams not good enough. Gets tiring listening to that.

Agree5 Disagree6

21 Jul 2018 18:07:36
Kev83 - did you enjoy the beatings in Europe last year?

I sure as hell didn’t, and if we don’t improve the quality of defenders we have then it will be more of the same

As much as I like Lustig he hasn’t got it anymore as a RB maybe he could move into CB and do a job, I don’t know but we have known since December 2017 that we need better and that’s almost 8 months time to work on getting a player in.

I don’t want like for like signings only improvements and we’ve had plenty of time to get players in. If we don’t qualify for champions league, you can only imagine the adverse comments towards Celtic and it’s lack of action in getting the right players in.

Agree3 Disagree2

21 Jul 2018 18:58:48
Kev T what I did enjoy was qualifying for Europe football after Xmas which was our target this year. Now we go and build on it.
Do you expect us to go and compete with teams that spend 200 million on ONE player?
Even with van djyk in our team we couldn't compete with that.

Agree2 Disagree2

21 Jul 2018 19:13:35
I also enjoyed the games against man city, skelping Anderlech away from home, beating zenit and even the performance against Bayern when we were very unlucky to lose.

Agree1 Disagree2

21 Jul 2018 20:28:56
Well for each game you mentioned there was 2 games that where appalling

Astana, Beer Sheva away

Both games against Rosenborg

Borrussia and Anderlecht at home

PSG twice

What’s the point in getting anywhere in Europe if you don’t strengthen the squad? Zenit beat us 3-0 and could have been more.

All most of us want is to have players signed before we play qualifiers giving them time to settle in and be prepared for a long successful season.

Agree1 Disagree2

21 Jul 2018 20:58:00
We qualified for the last two Champions Leagues and both times we were drawn against two of the top dozen or so teams in Europe . I don't think we can buy our way to beat these. teams as Brendan, fair play to him, tries to play football no mafter how good the opposition .
We also won back to back trebles ( of course when won they don't count )
Brendan and Board must get somethings right.

Agree0 Disagree2

21 Jul 2018 21:17:34
No one is saying that we can go into the CL group stage with this defence but the team is overloaded with CB's at the minute and we need to move one or two on first.
Our team right now are more than capable of beating anyone in the qualifiers.

Agree0 Disagree2

21 Jul 2018 22:23:21
Overloaded with what

Boyata
Simunovic
Ajer
Commper
Hendry

We have 5 CB’s. Ajer is learning his trade along with Hendry and Compper has been a complete waste of time and money.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's 5 players covering 2 positions, add in Lustig, Bitton and even Tierney who has played in a back 3 and that's plenty of players who can play CB.
Supposing Dembele is injured for Wednesday, should we be screaming out for a striker to be signed as well?
Has Brendan, Lawwell and the board let us down by only signing Edouard while LG is injured and now that Demble's carrying a knock?}

21 Jul 2018 23:18:17
Well Ed, we have Forrest and Sinclair that can play up tops if you want to move players from there preferred position

But that defeats the purpose, KT, Lustig and Bitton are not Central defenders.

The top teams in each league have all strengthened maybe Real Madrid haven’t, but we haven’t done anything yet, if anything our squad is weaker.

Edouard is now a permanent player and looks already to be a brilliant player for us but surely we all can see that our defence needs help.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - OK. All of a sudden we're talking about players preferred positions while people compare John McGinn to Rogic and McGregor ajd see him as a back up player but want a CB signed while we have an abundance of players that can play CB. Baffling stuff. Wouldn't any CB signed be back up to Ajer and Boyata if he stays?}

22 Jul 2018 00:36:49
how would a signed CB be backup if he is better quality than what we have?

sign better quality and Boyata will be on the bench more like.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Depends who's judging the quality, the manager thinks Boyata is the best CB at the Club so he might want a new CB to replace Ajer. At least it would be a signing though.}

22 Jul 2018 02:07:24
People are quick to praise the board but since Rodgers came in he has always spoke about real quality coming in.

As you rightly point out in certain positions we are abundant in numbers, but certainly not in quality.

Ajer is probably the best out of all of them and he is just a young player very much in his learning phase but with big potential.

so many signings are just bizarre. De Vries, Hayes, Compper, Benyu, Gamboa.

Rodgers has coached players well, but his "own" signings in his period have been poor.

Lots of people support the board going cheaper but look at things clearly you see our more expensive signings under Rodgers - Dembele, Odsonne, Ntcham were all ready to step in.

I know Dembele came cheap but that was technical rules, his actual value was similar to Ntcham and Odsonne but you get my point.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 11:35:33
Poor signings. Commper yes, gamba not given chance plays for his country. Benyu one for future loaned. De cries was cover and made Gordon up his game and wee needed cover. Dembele Mitcham Odsonne all startling. . Scott sinclair, Lewis Morgan hopefully see him after his operation. Think hour being harsh re his signings. .

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2018 13:17:08
Ed do you reckon we’ll only sign a centre half if Boyata or Jozo leave? I think we need one regardless but after buying 2 in january we are overloaded with them. Fabian Schar would be my pick should we sign one.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Yes I do mate, if everybody stays and when everyone's fit we've got an abundance of CBs. You can't just stockpile players.}

21 Jul 2018 14:24:04
Thought so. Punting Jozo, Boyata signing a new contract and then buying another CB would be ideal.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - With the kind of wages his agent is being offered I don't see Boyata staying.}

21 Jul 2018 16:16:06
So in that case we should have someone lined up. Probably don’t though and we will go half the season weak in that position. Regardless of stock piling players I believe there is still action to be taken in this position and in the enevitable event of Boyata and Jozo leaving we will be seriously weak. It’s quite clear Hendry is seen as a right back, I think he has a huge potential to be successful. Young player who’s learning his trade, I was impressed with him last wedensday night (again) .

Agree3 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 17:19:08
Because Hendry has been filling in at right back he is clearly seen as a right back?

Afternoon Ed/ Bhoys,

Woke up with excitement this morning Ed over the headline " Main character leaves the zombie show behind " Turns out it's the other walking dead they are talking about!

I thought King had chucked it. Talk about a disappointment :-P.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2018 14:34:23
Why personally I want the person King to stay, far too much fun with his daily/ weekly statements. If somebody from Celtic farts person king has something to say. You hear all the hordes asking why the club haven't released statements on stuff. Its like they crave a club statement as that's pretty much all they can really talk about as their club has achieved nothing on the park, and I have a very strong feeling that Osijek will further hammer this acknowledgement home . Yet off the park they simply abuse anybody and everybody who isn't one of them, even there own real supporters get it for simply speaking the truth. I have a friend who is a ger and used to go. He has stated he will never go back to ibrox because the toxic element that has become the voice for seemingly all the fans. The reality is they are just happy to be hypnotised by zk as it reinforces the belief they are still the as big a club as the old club with the same entitlement to cheat and lie and expect other people to just turn the other cheek.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2018 17:11:28
I know it sounds like a contradiction, as I have posted many times previously about 'the greatest lie ever told' with their defiant and deluded 'same club' stance. However, I do agree that as long as they kid themselves on that they are Oldco and not TRIFC 2012, it just builds them up for a fall and humiliation. time and time again.
The amount of managers they have hired, fired and had to pay off, as well as the conveyor belt of nobodies and rejects that don that 32RED neck jersey season after season must be bleeding the new club dry; as they suffer and wilt in our shadow.
King is the master of delusion, with his distractions and evasion tactics and there will be a time when there is no more hiding place.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2018 21:06:09
Would King's Lawyers get the case referred to CAS so that it won't come before CAS for a few years and his Rangers 2012 will be long dead . It would be pointless adjudicating when Rangers 1872.& off Spring Rangers 2012 were both dead and buried.
