Every 1 needs to calm down we are conducting ourselves like an English pl team atm no rushed signings do we want inferior players or quality players obviously quality which take time inferior ones fly in the door so relax lads things will happen it just takes time hh keep the faith.

MRgreen or should I call you Peter?

You are completely deluded. Keep telling yourself all will be Ok and when you are watching Astana or the team that knocks them out in the Champions League in September you might realise that this is the same old Celtic.

Agree2 Disagree1

22 Jul 2016 00:15:03
Niall celtic will past Astana with br in charge what do you want another gms cifci Cole kazim richards scepovic or quality if it's quality we will have to wait.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2016 00:18:40
Totally agree Niall! Mr green behave urself pal! I've heard a few belters on here in my time but we're conducting ourselves like a EPL team must be up there with the best! EPL teams don't sit back and drag the Shoite out of every transfer they conduct! And EPL teams don't go into the most crucial part of there seasons with problems in there team that a blind man could see need fixed! EPL teams don't tell there fans that they'll be signings last week then signings this week week then fook all happens! EPL Teams don't get beat off a part time team from Gibraltar using the same diddy of a centre half who has cost us in so many games that I've lost count! Like I said mate behave urself! All for opinions but that is utter pish! And if we get knocked out by Astana, we'll only have ourselves to blame! And if BR thought the Liverpool job was high pressure then he's Seen nothin yet! Rate him so highly as a manager by the way incase it comes across like I don't! But from where I'm sitting there's nothing changed from the RD era! Dragging our heels and asking to get punished!

Agree3 Disagree2

22 Jul 2016 00:43:10
Beav people on here are as fickle dombelle was the greatest signing in history br the greatest appointment in history then a loss which we turned around then we're siht again c'mon lads signings will come it's just the good ones take time Rodgers granted doesn't have moravcik petrov Lambert larsson malajjby Stubbs Boyd McNamara Petta Boyd that mon had but he needs time to bring in similar quality signings that neil did.

Agree1 Disagree1

22 Jul 2016 00:56:54
Our defence is week! I hope we get a CB in for Astana! We got beat by an amateur Outfit so we have a right to not wanting to gamble further one injury and ambrose is in the starting line up again!

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2016 00:57:35
Oneill did.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2016 01:05:18
SOS this Astana team are no world beaters either yes it's a step up and they've had good results but celtic have got better players and a cb will be added.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2016 01:07:35
mr green, we have waited last 3 or 4 years with same end result of not qualifying so please just keep quiet. have we signed quality? NO. ITS JUST CELTIC BOARD DOING WHAT CETIC BOARD DO BEST AND THAT IS NOTHING OR WHEN THEY DO ITS FAR TOO LATE.

Agree1 Disagree2

22 Jul 2016 01:14:54
Jimbo the difference is the last 3or4 years we have had managers that would accept that this time is different if we had a yes man now maybe 5 Inferior players would be in STAY CLAM And TRUST A PROPER MANAGER hh keep the faith.

22 Jul 2016 03:30:23
Lawell is dragging his feet here and is a person!

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 23:18:52
Well unless the press are slow to release it looks like it's the same old Celtic I have to say I am disappointed with the lack of transfer activity today thought we would have atleast one new player in one BR was wanting then get another before the game on Wednesday.

21 Jul 2016 23:17:35
So the deadline has come and gone and no one has arrived. So europa league it is this year again. I wouldn't mind so much if the powers that be would just admit we are not going to try and qualify but we keep getting fed the same shit every year. The new manager was in in prompt time. I had high hopes and then as always it comes to nowt. I have followed the bhoys for nearly 50 years and can honestly say that I have rarely felt this disallusioned. I truly hope we can do well but do fear we could really be embarrassed on our travels next week.

22 Jul 2016 01:37:43
There's still time too add 1 wildcard addition to the squad for Astana game, 24 hours before the tie.
I'm positive we will add a cb in time for Astana.
Was at the game last night, personally I think we should beat Astana over 2 legs with the squad we have plus a new cb. Astana are no Barcelona! They scored a 92nd minute winner against an inferior opponent.
Transfers do seem to drag on at celtic, frustrating as it is, we need to back thecurrent players and management.
It was great to see a packed parkhead again, and for the first half the boys put on a good show, as fitness increases we will improve more too.
Well impressed with forest last night, according to a lad in the northstand who knows him, he's buckling down and trying to win another contract. Br will get more out of him than Rd, or Lenny ever did. Was also good to see proper wingers playing out wide again too.
Keep the faith bhoys hail hail.

Oh and can I just say well done to the guys in the new rail seated area, for making a great atmosphere!

The fans conned again by Lawwell and co, its time fans vented their feelings against this constant non investment by these clowns, the fans have shown their commitment by snapping up season tickets in the last few weeks its time to call for the removal of these clowns, its time for new owners and fans co-opted onto the board, and hopefully in the future full fan ownership of OUR club.

Believable9 Unbelievable2

21 Jul 2016 23:06:29
guys i'm right behind brendan and the team but the board need to show the same enthusiasm and hunger and yet again it seems like old penny pinching ways waihing to see if if we actually get to group stages of cl before committing to strengthening squad with any actual belief. give the man the best possible chance to get off to a flyer by going and getting players who will provide a platform to give him a chance to progress. now another mini window has passed without any additions so we are going up against a really tough test in astana with what we already have which we all know is a massive gamble but one this same board are prepared to keep taking every year that has consistantly resulted in failure. then when we are put out they go and spend a couple of million on a few average players as per usual. biggest season ticket sales in years and again no rewarding the faithful from the board who are continuing to withdraw their millions every year from the coffers in paying themselves large individual bonuses.

Well no business done tonight what a surprise that is.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2016 23:00:15
Just seen tonight's results, Aberdeen won, so did Hibs, who went out on penalties, feel a bit sorry bout that, hard lines shamus, but the new accolade for the worst result ever by a Scottish team on Europe, which last week was held by zCeltic, now passes onto Hearts, beaten at home by a Maltese team.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

21 Jul 2016 23:08:53
I don't think so that Maltese team as u call them were beaten only on pens over 2 legs by west ham last season.

west ham youth team it was.

Go check the starting line-up for both legs. It was mainly reserves and youths.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 22:31:13
Kelleher who was captain tonight should be the next player to get a chance to progress
Calvin Miller too deserves a chance as a left winger
Thomson and Lindsey in midfield look good and you can see why aitchson got his chance at the end of last year.
Things are starting to look goodin the youth system.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2016 23:11:39
Hey jonace. I have posted about Calvin several times I'm friends with hid dad and the boy has serious talent and I have no doubts he will make it. he scored 2 tonight and was in the squad for the last game of the season although I said on the bench at the time we'll before the team was announced so got shot down. I think he actually won some major award for his age group. like world player or European player of the year. maybe the ed can confirm. but looks outstanding talent also made his first team debut at 16 in a pre season cup final tournament which we lost on penalties to a very experienced team. galatasary or fernebache I think.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 23:27:00
Young Calvin's first goal tonight required bravery, technique and composure. Many a striker would have fluffed it. IMO.

He's also celtic through and through. really hope he pushes on. just signed a new 3 year deal. . agreed he's ticking the boxes as a kid with an eye for goal mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 22:17:25
Unlikely we get anyone in before tonight's deadline . Like everyone else I have been checking everywhere to see any sight or sign of anyone new .
Unlike other seasons B R seems to be concentrating on the English market and trying to buy players he knows something about .
That being the case, I realise now that, it is no disappointment us not signing someone today . The only players we could sign would be players similar to what we bought under R D and to some extent N L, we would have to bu y players that are already playing their league football and I am not sure B R is acquainted with them as well as he would like before buying . English based players are at least 2/ 3 weeks off starting their league and hence are not match fit . Would we be happy lining out in Astana with a centre half only starting his pre-season . In the case of Shane Duffy, I don't think he has had any collective since the North of Ireland exited the Euroes.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

21 Jul 2016 22:26:36
Agreed, unless the club invents a player from nowhere.

PS, Duffy plays for the Republic of Ireland, not the north, but I get your point :-)

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 22:46:08
Can we go back to the days of buying players like Wanyamma and Hooper and getting Foster on loan, all more or less undiscovered rather than Brendans allegdely chasing players he has previously worked with, like Sinclair, although I think this might be spin, while he brings in someone who has never been mentioned in a zCeltic trsnfer context before.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 22:46:12
Does he not play for the Republic.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 22:49:21
Same old, don't need much centre half, aggressive midfielder that can play a bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 23:17:55
Sorry bhoys, a stupid moment Shane Duffy plays for the R O I of course .

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 23:49:59
big duffy would be a great addition and provide much needed strength, height, guts, bravery and he would be excellent in both boxes as he's a goal threat too but as for next week he;d be nowhere near ready as he's been in my fair old native derry flat out in pubs and clubs since he returned from euros and is still here. he can be added at any time but not the player we need for next week in his current state.

like everybody else I want to see the club strengthen. But what more can the club do. There are genuine offers on the table. We can make player sign that's down to the players. I think the club are genuinely trying to get quality faces in. Who knws Mabry i'm wrong.

ED/ Guys Does anyone think that with BR/ CD getting our hopes up about signings by deadline, is to put pressure on PL to get the player/ s in on time, or is just what they are been told by PL and his team.

Thoughts anyone.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2016 19:19:01
Deals take time. I'd rather we took our time getting the right players in rather than just buying for the sake of it, we've done enough of that in the last few years and that's why half of our squad aren't fit to wear the shirt.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 19:26:37
i honestly can't see PL letting the fans down, or DD for that matter, what we need to remember also bhoys that BR said he wants to add quality, That in itself is problematic and will prob take a lot of convincing for any half decent players to ply their trade in SPL, i'd rather we went for that bit of quality, than get someone in average b4 the deadline. I still think we will get someone in tho.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 20:24:57
I Know deals take time and there are numerous dimensions for each and every player.
Costs of transfer
Wages
Agents fee
Clearance if the player is coming from abroad.
And the big question does the player want to play in the SPFL.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 20:42:12
All of the above comments are spot on to an extent. However. The board and BR know how important CL qualification is to Celtic, so they should have been spotting players to bring in well before now, especially with deadlines for qualifiers coming up. I hope it's not another 1 of these "let's see if wee get to the groups" transfer windows and every1 gets let down. That's happened for to much these last few seasons. But I have hope HH.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 22:30:29
Many of us here have condemned the board for making signings before for the manager . B R says he is happy with budget, but he wanted opportunities to check over what we already have . There is no point buying four players when we already have better players for two of their positions .
The English based market is expensive and also these players are not match fit and won't be for 2/ 3 weeks . Players who played at Euroes are even further behind.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 17:51:28
The transfer deadline for the next round is eleven tonight if we're signing anyone better get a move on. I think we can do this Astana.

Dont be surprised if we only make the emergency singing next week our only purchase before the next round, and in typical Lawwell fashion it will be no one of note for a cheap fee or a loan.

Agree3 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 16:25:43
We probably haven't heard anything because there is no-one coming in today.

Already read the assistant manager saying that we can still sign someone up to 24 hours before the first leg so already setting up for disappointment.

I hope I am wrong as we need more than one and BR had already stated that more than once himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 16:34:33
we never really hear anything tho bhoys, been that way for yrs, think we will get someone in tonight tho.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 16:34:58
50.000 ST s sold, merchandise, match day takings corporate hospitality, match day sponsors, all this revenue and we've signed one player for a development fee and even if we r in for S Sinclair whether you like him or not we look as if we're penny pinching as usual, there's a pot of gold waiting if only they would just push the boat out a bit we never learn same old Celtic.

Agree3 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 16:56:36
Not looking good then 😭.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 17:12:42
Think Rodgers needs to keep quiet about the timing of signings so the fans aren't being left disappointed! If we were going to sign some one in the next 6 hours we would have heard something by now surely!

Agree2 Disagree2

21 Jul 2016 17:22:41
We'll be left waiting till tonite then fook all as usual! According to BR we were close to something last Wednesday but hee haw again! Didn't think it would happen when we brought a manager with some pedigree in, but to me it looks the same old pish of dragging our feet and spouting garbage about being close to this one or that one! New manager but nothing changes! More fool us for Rushing out for season tickets! And I include myself in that!

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 17:27:45
I agree, surely there would be some definitive talk of a certain player be it sightings or whatever. Would they just sign someone without a medical, plus we'd be short of time to negotiate wages etc. It looks more and more likely we won't be getting in anyone. Same old story with the club where we aren't speculating to accumulate. Surely if br says we r in desperate need to get a CB in he should be able to tell Lawell we need to get this deal done even if we need to pay over the odds a little, if it will help us in the long term.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 17:50:56
PAY OVER THE ODDS? We won't even pay the going rate without haggling time and time again, complete embarrassment. An absolute joke and the problem is that we never learn. 2 seasons under RD exactly the same and looking to make it a hat trick this year.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 18:03:53
Who has left recently? because last time I checked we still had a surplus of players taking a wage under contract. We can't waste money by bringing in better quality replacements whilst the dumplins are still here. We need to shift 5 players I'd say.

Agree2 Disagree2

21 Jul 2016 18:20:36
All well and good pedro, but if we don't have any takers for these poor players ( which I can't see a lot of teams falling for ) do we never invest again? Let's hope there contracts run out within the next year because by your reckoning we can't sign anyone until we r shot of them. I appreciate we need them off the wage bill but time is of the essence for us, if we don't invest and miss out on Europe the fans will feel they have been taken for a ride again.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 18:23:25
Pedro

Blackett, Stokes, Derk, Scepovic, CKR, Mulgrew and Cole have all gone, replaced by Dembele.

I agree we need to sell a few midfielders but it is bullsh1t if we need to sell first.

Why have both the manager and his assistant built up our hopes only to be left disappointed again?

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 18:17:19
Pedro, this is the second time BR was confident of a deal before the deadline and the second time he failed, terrible.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 22:36:43
Why is it always some Celtic person who is to blame . It is possible that no matter what P L and B R and everyone else did the player or players that Celtic felt they were close to signing may simply change their mind or demand more time .

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 13:55:09

Tongue in cheek Besty. But the clamour for new signings is in vain as far as I'm concerned. I'm pretty patient because I don't expect much anyway, and this is the same situation we're used to and have seen for seasons now. It really shouldn't be any shock to any of us that we're lining up to quite a tricky CL tie without seeing real improvement in the playing staff.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

21 Jul 2016 11:39:08
If people are coming from further away, leaving early gets them away without having 1 hour + of traffic. I can understand why some people do leave but that's the only reason I can sort of accept.

Agree6 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 12:43:09
Simply a matter of getting home at a decent hour. Most folk have work the next morning. Plus the game was won. Why this annoys people annoys me.

Agree5 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 16:17:24
I don't always stay till the end as I have over an hours drive home and sometimes have the kids so want to get them to bed at a decent hour so that's my point.

Agree4 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 17:18:00
I must be honest and say that I sometimes go a little early, it's never as much as 10 minutes though, with me it's maybe 2 or 3 minutes, and then only if I'm sure that the result is beyond doubt.
I have a 5 hour drive home after the match, and it makes a massive difference to me if I can get to the end of the London road and onto the M74 quite sharpish.
I do sense the annoyance of some people though, and I try to not obstruct their view too much if I am leaving.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 21:31:03
Some fans like yourself gerryc deserve all the praise in the world for your commitment to Celtic, as do the Dads and Mums who bring their kids along, there's many a reason for leaving a wee bit early and i don't think you guys have to justify or explain to anyone why it helps to beat the crowd. Now hopefully folk will stop questioning fans that HAVE to exit quick. i'd like to thank you for being there at all. Hail Hail every one of us.

We know what we need to do to get past the next qualifying stage so no excuses time to deliver. Get couple players in that can make a difference and be positive and make the group stages a reality.

A good solid CB and I feel a solid CM ( govner type) required b4 11pm tonight.

Any hints on who?

Totally agree mate I wouldn't have minded Duffy or Toure coming in also but again if it's just a matter of them both making they're minds up I would have moved on to other target's, same way Sinclair heard the lad does want a come but if he wants it that bad I was expecting him to hand in transfer request I know that always doesn't work but he surely must feel that Villa are pricing him out a move to work way he's mentor again, just disappointed with lack of signings cause tbh Iam hearing people saying we only need 4 players I was honestly looking at least 6 or 7 coming in new gk, cb possibly 2, rb, a winger, no nonsense tackling cm who can also pass and drive with ball and another striker with a bit European experience, iam I asking too much lol again Iam not surprised but disappointed.

Agree with all. Just feels this day and age we are getting the p*** taking out of us. I know there still time but when BR appointed there was excitement but feel like it slipping away again.

Sad to hear that after all the work he had done to get himself fit Aston Villa aren't offering Stan Petrov a contract, he has been offered a coaching roll by them and is talking it over with his family.

Brave guy it must be a hit for him. He has come this far and i hope he keeps at it a little longer to find a club and play again at a professional level. If there is any decency and honesty left in the world then Villa will encourage him to do so with their blessing and that coaching role will be there at the end of the summer or next year on his merit and value to the club. Really hope he finds a club at a good level for him.
Good luck Stan HH.

get him up here, give him player / coach role, what this man has been through and got back to where he wants to be is nothing short of inspirational, he's got to be better than bitton.

New it wouldn't be long till someone said get him to park head.
Yes he is an inspiration
Yes he was a great player for us
But we shouldn't be signing anyone out of sympathy or nostalgia
He has been out a long time.
He is a lot older than he was first time around.
Glad to see him doing well but can't see how signing him as a player would help our squad.

was thinking more along the coaching side of things tbh kev, but if he wants a player/ coach position i don't see why not, don't think stan is the sort of guy that would spit his dummy if there's better mids than him in the squad, seems sensible to me, get a player that knows what it means to play at celtic, passing his knowledge down to the likes of armstrong, mcgregor, henderson, would only be a positive thing in my book,

We have midfielders coming out our ears. We don't need another that has been out the game 4 years.
As for a coach to work with first team players?
Gaffer's choice would suit me better.
