Guys just saw a guy on twitter has said if Celtic win against Copenhagen next week we will skip THREE qualifying rounds and enter CL at final playoff round if we win league this season, worst case scenario we go straight into Europa group stages if beaten.

It was mentioned tonight on the radio phone-in and it’s because Scotland would leapfrog Denmark into 13th place. But I thought it was for the 2021/ 22 season.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 21:18:21
It is for 21/ 22.

I've actually really enjoyed Europa league, seems more of a level playing field. I get the money and prestige thing of Champions league but Europa seems more like football to me. As opposed to battle of the franchise's.

22 Feb 2020 10:44:03
I’ve always said that Bribhoy, think most of the fans want champs league for the dosh, we are no where near that level, best case scenario is 3rd place and europa, but for me there’s only so many pumpings my team can take, I’d rather compete and get less than get pumped so the club can bank more 👍.

I want champions league to see teams like real Madrid come to parkhead. I've been dying to draw them for years.

Seems the griff and Taylor ok for Sun that'll help things and if elhamed could get some game time that would do as well.

Ed- do you think we have an agreement with Motherwell for Turnbull. Rogic clearly isn't the answer, Ntcham will most likely be off. Christie/ Turnbull competing for no10? Ultimately despite last night i think Christie could be Browns successor. I see similarities with a young Broonys energy and drive which can be coached into a more disciplined deeper role.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - There's no agreement in place but I expect us to go back in for Turnbull in the summer.}

21 Feb 2020 17:14:17
Remember when Broony was injured Christie and CalMac broght a dynamism to the central midfield that was lacking when Brown was there.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 17:57:33
It's a pity Christie is unavailable next week in Europe, if Brown is injured it would have been the ideal time to prove my point that Brown stifles the creativity of the midfield by his presence, or disprove it.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 18:05:08
Personally I see Calmac taking over from Broony (as captain also) as long as we don't get a crazy bid for him. Christie - is still a bit lightweight - so much better in and around the opposing penalty box.
I am also looking forward to seeing Soro to see what he offers?

Agree4 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 19:03:05
Don't believe Christie has the attributes to take over from Brown. McGregor is a no brainer for that role.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 19:26:36
for me christies best game in a celtic jersey was in a deeper lying role last year v leipzig he was outstanding he could easily play there.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 20:50:34
Christie is best at 10. He's too clumsy in the tackle to play in a CDM role.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 22:08:25
Rogic isn't the answer but turnbull is😂😂 Rogic is 100 times the player Turnbull is and I've never seen Turnbull play😂😂😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 22:23:25
Callums a great player but he can't tackle and ain't the hardest so imo he can't do the job broony does totally different players.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 23:44:42
If you haven't seen turnbull play then you can't comment. Rogic is the biggest myth at celtic its embarrassing the way some fans seem to think he is some world beater. Im sure the boy turnbull scored more goals in half a day season than rogic has in a full season.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2020 00:11:36
no body can do what broony does. that is why he is our captain and one of our all time greats. we will never fill his boots, but we will get a new captain. god bless you Scot brown.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Feb 2020 14:11:52
Rogic should be punted in the summer. Miles behind the likes of Christie.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Feb 2020 15:34:22
I agree with the guys who think Christie in for Brown would be a good idea going forward. I to remember the dynamism (is that a word? ) When he played there with Calmac. Replacing brown will probably not be a like for like. Christie, I agree can't do the defensive side as well as brown, but he will offer way more going forward. He offers his own attributes. he will run and chase till he drops, hez tenacious, and he has real ability and a good footballing brain. Another Brown? No definitely not he's a one off. A new Christie however? Anyway he will be 10 on Sunday with Nchamp in Browns shoes for all that sheit I just spouted! 😁.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2020 22:16:05
Aindoh did u not see the state of the midfield on thursday when brown went off? Outfought for the rest of the game, nobody will fill his boots when he retires. We will move on and find other midfielders but the likes of brown are not easy to find or affordable.

Depending on injuries and if Soro gets a game weekend I'd go with this team for Thursday

Forster
Frimpong Jullien Ajer Boli
Soro McGregor Ntcham
Forrest Edouard Elyounoussi.

21 Feb 2020 15:29:13
I'd switch back to the 3-5-2.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 15:41:30
Aggressive but might take them by surprise to go all out for the win.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 16:31:16
4-2-3-1 let them chase the game, A 3-5-2 is pretty much dependant on leigh being fit anyway but don't know how he is. If brown is out then go with 2 holding of ntcham and callum with rogic in the 10.Rogic more than capable of playing in there with 2 wide and eddie up top.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 16:39:11
I would go with 3-5-2 against Killie. In the away fixture Celtic had close to 20 shots at goal on a pitch we usually struggle with. It was purely down to the formation and Killie couldn’t get near us. I would use Frimpong and Forrest as wing backs.
Forster
Jozo Jullian Ajar
Frimpong Ntcham Calmac Christie Forrest
Edouard. Griffiths.

21 Feb 2020 17:18:39
Would play forrest on right and elyounoussi on left drop frimpong.

My team for Thursday, allowing for injuries being okay

Forster
Elhamed Simunovic Julien Taylor
Brown McGregor
Forrest Ntcham Elyounoussi
Eduoard

Hope Elhamed gets a game on Sunday and would like to see Soro at some point as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Elhamed isn't even in the squad for Sunday.}

21 Feb 2020 22:49:31
Pains me to say it but Boli is hopeless and the worst of the 3 left back options, he can’t defend and is caught wrong side all the time, I can see why he’s out of favour .

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Feb 2020 14:34:04
Bravetart86, have u seen Soro play? How u have him starting on Thursday is a strange call given he hasn't even made a squad yet.

A big hand for Fraser Forster. well big fingertips.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2020 14:56:48
What a difference he has made all season and if we are to see the back of him in the summer, he will be a huge loss and I think we need to look a lot further than Bain to 'fill his gloves'.

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 20:56:50
How about the Copenhagen goalie.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 13:33:06
Good result last night as I would take a draw away from home in Europe all day long, thought Jullien was a colossus yet again in the second half when we were under the cosh however I thought our game management was poor, why Frimpong wasn't hooked after 15 mins astounds me and how Neil Lennon thinks Hayes and Frimpong are full backs is baffling, might get away with them in a 5 but to play both in a 4 is asking for trouble, not all Neil's fault as yet again Lawwell let him and all of us down with a pi££ poor transfer window bringing in prospects when serous money being spent was required like never before.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2020 15:02:28
Too much has been put on young Frimpong because El Hamed is never fit and Bauer isn't trusted for some reason. I've had my say on Hayes - even though he had a good first half last night and well Bolingoli? I know Taylor has shown great progress and will be first choice; but as, has happened many times before at Celtic, once again we may have a serious full-back issue?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 15:17:36
Thought wee Jonny did fine last night but frimpong has a lot to learn about positioning but he's still young.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 16:36:11
We have went 10 clear, won league cup and won europa league group with these full backs so it isn't exactly a crisis. We are in front of where we were with lustig and tierney and have not missed then one bit.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 11:04:22
Ed do you think we can afford Forster on a permanent deal? I think we need to be trying to get it done before the end of the season to stop any English teams coming in for him .

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It'll depend on Southampton and how much they're willing to accept to get him off their wagebill and if Forster will take a big drop in wages. Forster turns 32 next month so hopefully the lure of playing regularly, winning trophies and playing in Europe is more important than money to him at this stage of his career.}

Just thinking, part of our training should include target practice as in whacking the ball specifically aiming for opponents arms. Can accept the penalty decision as in some you win some you lose, but to be booked for that is feckin ridiculous. Ask 100 people who know nothing about football if they thought that was deliberate handball, I doubt you would find one who did. ( Obs don't ask anyone from sky, Bbc or SMSM )

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2020 14:49:01
Headed onto his arm from all of 2 feet away. How can you move your arm away in time it's basically point blank.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 16:52:45
His arm shouldn't have been so high. Definite penalty never a booking tho.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 18:05:00
How are you supposed to jump for the ball without using your arms for elevation.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 19:21:01
Agree it was a stonewall penalty but harsh booking imo.

21 Feb 2020 10:28:49
Morning! I see the coefficient has put us up to 14th in the rankings and that will see 2 teams in the champions league from 21/ 22 season. Does this mean that the champions next season (Celtic obviously 10IAR) go straight to the group stage of the Champions League or will both teams have to do qualifiers?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2020 11:23:02
I think the Champions going into season 21/ 22 will still have qualifiers but not as many as 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 14:18:05
I tried to look online but couldn't find what i was looking for, what needs to happen for the champions to go straight to the group stage of the champions league?

Agree0 Disagree0

I read somewhere we are close to it being just the playoff round the champions will have to play. Can any of the Ed's shed light on it?

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 09:24:42
With Christie suspended next week and brown probably out with the calf strain, what about playing Ajer in midfield with Jozo starting at centre back with Julian? If we are going with two up top it I’d go with cal Mac ntcham sitting with Rogic ahead .
Biton doesn’t do it for me to be honest at centre back or midfield.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2020 09:40:05
A lot of people would agree with that - except the manager and I think it will be between Biton, Rogic and Griff to fill both spaces.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 10:40:27
Doubt he will go 2 up top, prefer ajer and julien in defence with mcgregor and ntcham holding with rogic at number 10.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 11:14:21
The people clamouring for young ajer to be moved, you do realise that we are where we are (10 points clear and Europe after Xmas ) that this has happened with him at CB. He was always going to be a CB, just read or listen to his interviews, he is still learning his trade, first it’s Julien, then Taylor, now ajer that fans are going after, I’d hate to see the reactions if we weren’t where we are 👍

Ps, you do realise that we drew the game last night.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 12:50:12
Ajer is nowhere near good enough to be a top CM. So please can we just draw a line under that? We paid decent money for Soro. He should be playing.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2020 05:06:36
I didn’t realise Soro was in the euro squad as he’s only made the squad for us once. I wasn’t slagging off Ajer although he never had a great game but that happens. I was merely saying he could add physicality in midfield this week as we have lost brown and Christie, and for me biton isn’t the answer .

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 07:29:04
Discussion with my bhoy before the game yesterday about Nchamp. He has been getting a lot of nice things said about him lately and rightly so. A lot of fans saying he is by far our most talented midfielder.

My problem with him is he only plays well and shows that talent in games when the team is playing well. Whenever it's a tight game, a dog fight like last night or a game we are getting beaten. he's nowhere to be seen.

We have been on a tremendous run since the break. Winning and scoring for fun which has coincided with his brilliant form. But last night in a tight game and second half under the cosh for spells he was poor.

We could have a real problem in the midfield next week. If Broonie is out to add to Christie and Elyanousie still not looking like being anywhere near the fitness levels required at that level.

Who comes in? A midfield with Nchamp and Rogic 2 luxury players fills me with dread after watching last night. And Bitton definitely isn't the answer.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2020 09:33:39
If broony is out we'll know all about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 11:34:49
Broony's absence is a big concern with the push for the league, another cup up for grabs and the European run all at a crucial time.
Christie's absence (and even Griff for that matter) can be covered, but the captain's influence and presence is a huge factor.
On a positive note, Elyounnoussi is getting game time, Frimpong is back in action and Taylor is back in training.
I think Cal-Mac will play deep with Ntcham with Rogic further forward as I agree Biton is too slow and static, especially in big games.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 12:50:00
Frimpong needs to stop getting drawn into our cbs twice last night we nearly got punished because of his positional sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2020 14:52:43
Maybe give Soro a start against Killie in a bid to have him fit to play in a midfield 3 of Ntcham, McGregor and Soro next Thursday? 😍.
