Hearts and aberdeen have said they are willing to help fund VAR for the league. How would everyone feel if celtic said the same?

It still wouldn't work as whoever monitors the screens would be accused of Celtic or Rangers leanings. Every VAR decision against them would be cause for A Statement!

Reply to Cory 67 personally if I won the lottery I'd pay for it tomorrow myself yes we know it's not foolproof but I'll tell you this, over a season we would Definitely benefit from it, and every Tim knows it would. BRING IT ON.

I think we should too. It will prevent a lot (Not all) mistakes by refs. There will always be fans screaming bias, and there will always be mistakes but this cut out the most obvious ones. There needs to be a clear review process along with it when there disagreement. But for me it would be a step in the right direction.

Do you not still require the ref to call for var to get involved during the game?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - And who makes the decisions, ex-refs, current officials etc We can all argue whether if it's a penalty after watching endless replays so at the end of the day it still comes down to the exact same officials' decisions. Would you trust Hugh Dallas Snr to run the VAR department? Bobby Maden on VAR duties at a TRIFC game with Baby Dallas on the pitch reffing the match?
If the Bundesliga need to sack their head of VAR for all sorts of shady stuff going on what chance has Scotland got of getting it right, it also opens up LOADS more avenues for match-fixing etc for gambling.}

21 Dec 2018 22:33:35
I would only trust it if oab was in charge 😂.

{Ed007's Note - Him and Tam Boyd 😂😂😂

22 Dec 2018 01:29:32
It’s one thing to describe a bad call as an ‘honest mistake’ when a referee has to make a split second decision but it would be difficult to justify it after a panel of ‘neutrals’ had looked at it in slow motion several times and still got it wrong. I say bring it on!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you might want to go look at what has happened in Italy and Germany then. It is just as easy then, because the officials can use numerous get out calls, such as it wasn't a clear and obvious mistake so they just won't even look at it or say they haven't looked at it.}

Hi Welshy; V A R stands for Vilify All Referees - (in Scotland) lol Catch up with you all on the 'live chat' later.

Haha joke of the year goes to pud! Rangers or celtic leanings haha.

I think he’s only calling it The the rest of the teams see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Dec 2018 11:39:55
If it's var the ones making the calls couldn't make wrong ones because it's not a split second decision and would be sacked if they did. its a yes from me.

22 Dec 2018 00:12:35
ok Ed, I guess you are not for then?
I would be ok if the paying customer (crowd) saw the same clip as ref at same time while HE explained his decision.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I just think it's pointless as it's the same people still making the decisions, watching it again only backs up their initial decision as well. Would football fans accept a VAR decision as final if they still thought it was wrong?
The ref explaining things to the crowd's never going to happen.}

22 Dec 2018 16:23:48
Here's the thing. VAR is coming. We all know it it, so we as a club better be at the front battling to make sure it's fine right.

23 Dec 2018 03:05:01
Ed, how would the panel explain the Morelos goal at Tymecastle? If nothing else, it would sort out the erroneous offside decisions and we wouldn’t have to hope that they might even themselves out over the course of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They wouldn't need to explain anything because that's not what VAR is for. It would only cut out offside decisions if a) the ref called for a VAR review and b) the ref overrules the linesman's decision (what would that do with moral between our officials). Can you see many Scottish refs watching a VAR review and then holding their hands up and saying they got the initial call wrong?
What if the ref looked at VAR and decided Morelos goals stood, would you accept that it was onside then - after all the super dooper VAR confirmed it to the ref? What people don't seem to grasp is that it's still a human decision, it's still the same people making the decisions except now that will be able to say that he did review a decision and VAR actually strengthens the ref's case for making the initial decision.}

23 Dec 2018 11:29:35
I get that it still comes down to the decision of a person but I think when it is blatantly obvious, as in the Morelos goal, it would be difficult for that person to justify. I’d like to think that it might develop in a similar way as tennis has developed to allow each player a pre-determined number of challenges which would take out the dependence on the referee calling it into play.

I just wanted to say a big well done to everyone on our site who has helped ED007 bust his hoped for amount of donations (Foodbank fund closes tonight) £1000 raised.
What is even more amazing is that last year £860 was raised by ALL the sites as the other EDs opened it up, but this year as far as I am aware it was just our Celtic site.
There will be lots of happy kids waking up on Christmas Day to new toys.
YOU TIMS ARE ALL AMAZING hail hail.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Me (and my family) are pretty speechless with the absolutely fantastic effort from everyone, Tim and send our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated. You have no idea the difference that amount of money is going to make 🙏
Most of the the money last year came from our site too btw so you guys have smashed your own record as far as I'm concerned. And again, thank you all SO much.}

Its great to know we can help put a smile on other peoples faces Ed007 with your kind help at this time of year!

Brilliant ed. I've seen first hand the difference it can make. We should all give what we can, although it makes me sick that it's come to this where people are made to rely on handouts from the working class! F~€£ the upper class they only care about themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's too many idiots in Scotland that vote according to the way the scumbags in the OO and Mason's tell them too without actually looking at what's going on around them. While kids are living in households without heating or food all they bother about is that they can keep their sectarian marches and wave their wee Butcher's Aprons, they need to get it through their thick skulls that Farquar Henderson-Smythe in his £3 million Kensington apartment doesn't give a stuff about them.}

I'd be looking to sign Emmanuel Boateng from LA Galaxy if I was in charge of Celtic. Can play all over the midfield and on a free! Quality player would walk into the team in place of Sinclair. Team player skilful and fast. After 2 seasons be worth at least 15 million. I know MLS very different from our league but definitely worth a punt!
Anyone think of any other realistic signings that could be better?

I really liked the look of the Modle ST Erling Braut Håland.

Missed first game against Hibs in Euro qualifiers this season but returned for 2nd and tore them apart (think he even scored all the goals)

I had heard that Salzburg had agreed 7 mill fee in the summer but can only assume nothing materialised as he's still at Modle.

Morning all,
Just had a look at Ed007 just giving page. He's almost reached his goal for money raised.
Let's try and get this over the line. As we all know the world we live in can be cruel at times. No one should go hungry in this day and age but unfortunately people do. Please if any of our Posters haven't donated can I encourage you to make a small contribution.
Ed does a fantastic job keeping this Forum going and as a Big Thank You to him, let's try and make some families Christmas a little better.
