Fed up with the window so led me to thinking about fond memories. First ever game. Firhill with my Great uncle peter shouting at Danny Crainie taking a corner. Don’t remember the score! .

I really cannot remember my first game. All I remember is being told by a mate to stand outside the North enclosure and somebody will lift you over. Straight to the Jungle as a young'un and never looked back. Seen some great games and some not so great games. The days of mega crowds that were then reported in the rags as being 37 or 38 thousand. Bollox! At least 60 thousand at some games!

The turnstiles and he said they only counted 87 for every 100 through the gate to save costs on policing etc. Dundee centenary year comes To mind as a prime example of that.

St Patrick day massacre in the old jungle with my old man and my brother. Spent most of the game facing the crowd and being picked up by random fans and thrown about when we scored, great day!

My first game was against East Fife where I spent more time looking at the crowd. I had gone on the local supporters bus with my pals big brother. I was lifted over for years until a guy I asked to lift me over said, son you could lift we over. I was 23 to be fair. :)

For years stood near tunnel 7 in the jungle with my pals and went home and away for years. Like most have had fabulous times and some dark ones. The Murray goading us left a feeling of we will someday turn the tables and crush them.

Travelled all over Europe and was at the game in Seville which was my proudest moment, not just for how we fought, but for how our people supported our team. I was proud of every last one of them.

It’s not just a team, it’s a cause, as our beloved Tommy said. HH.

Sorry to say I can't remember the opponent, result or date, but I know it was in 1962 when I was 6. Got a lift over the turnstyle, papped down the very front of the Jungle, where there was a white wall the wee boys sat on and the 'revolving' polis barkin at us to keep our legs on the terracing side of the wall.
I was overwhelmed by the crowd, noise and singing and how close I was to the players and at half time the auld man brought me down a cauld pie that I had to dip in his bovril to heat-up and a lollipop - using the stick to write C E L T I C in the ash track.
Remember I ran onto the edge of the pitch at full time because every other kid was doing it - got a scowl form a grumpy constable and a clout on the ear from my Da who had came down to collect me.

Celtic v Leeds United, European Cup at Hampden. They say there was 120,000 there. Beat Leeds 2-1 after Billy Bremner scored. The great leeds united, we beat them Home and Away.

ED007 what is the TRUE story about McKenna of Aberdeen, I just cannot see us targeting a player who is a) injured and b) willing to pay an inflated price for a bang averge player.
Give us your insight please.

{Ed007's Note - There's definitely interest but I'm not sure there's any truth in the stories going round about a bid have being made. He wouldn't be my first choice but I'm really hoping that he isn't our main CB target, and it's a worry that it's taken us until now to make a move for a player on our own doorstep.
The fact he's injured doesn't bother me too much, he'll be back in 3/4 weeks.}

I hope that this is just a bad dream and not true, for me this would be a totally underwhelming signing. If this guy is the sum of our ambition it won’t help with getting some of the disgruntled fans back on side. Surely we can find a better option?

We have been dominating and often destroying Scottish defenses for seven years and the last foray into SPFL standard centre half has caused more problems than solved - so far?
McKenna is clearly a cop-out and step backwards IMO.
If it's true, then who will it be next? Efe Ambrose and Darren O'Dea.

I remember a centre/ right back that was on loan to Fulham last season, from Chelsea called Tomas Kalas who is a 25 yr old Czech International. Does anyone think he would be worth a punt - or loan if all else fails?

We keep hearing of the undoubted wealth of our major shareholder Mr Desmond, and I've often thought, given his staunch love of our club, to give our manager a lift, why not give him say 50 million, and take it back from the club over the years. Would that be feasible? Thought's guy's.

Clubs like Man City are propped up by sponsorship deals with their owners for obscene amounts of money. Their Etihad deal is worth about £35 - 40 million a year

Clubs can spend up to €5million more than they earn per assessment period (three years). However it can exceed this level to a certain limit, if it is entirely covered by a direct contribution/payment from the club owner(s) or a related party. This prevents the build-up of unsustainable debt.

The limits are:
• €45m for assessment periods 2013/14 and 2014/15
• €30m for assessment periods 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18

In order to promote investment in stadiums, training facilities, youth development and women’s football (from 2015), all such costs are excluded from the break-even calculation.

This McKenna news is not the best. He is no better than what we already have. If the other news of Bruma is true then we should be doing all we can to get him. Great experience in club and international football. He would help bring Hendry and Ajer on leaps and bounds.

Also Ed do you know if there is anything in the Chirivella transfer or is it just the media.

It must be hard getting info from Celtic these days but how come it takes the Liverpool ed to do it does this mean Liverpool are weaker in that department or do they not care that much about this possible signing?

Put mildly, I'm very underwhelmed with Scott McKenna looking like our most likely CB target. If he takes Hendry's place I'd say that's definitely an improvement but we're flooding the team with inexperience. Boyata's future is still up in the air and even if he stays, I'm not 100% convinced he'll bring his good WC form back here, especially given the carry on with his agent etc.

McKenna is Injured plus the ss will want a big fee they were quoting Swansea into double figures after they sold mawson for silly money. so expect a saga if the story is true which I am not convinced of.

Scott McKenna seriously! This is the same Scott McKenna that’s part of a defence who we routinely pump and so do sevco! If true then I have no words for how bad our scouting is! Went paid over a million for a diddy from Dundee, now probably treble that for a diddy from Aberdeen! I’m sure I remember Brendan Saying the words we’re only looking to bring quality in! Only us could be desperate for a centre half and think that signing an injured one from Aberdeen is a good idea! It’s just gets better honestly!

For once I agree with you Lavie Heed. McKenna may look good at Aberdeen but it would be no where near the calibre of big Jef Bruma. Celtic must pursue Bruma he will add class and grit to the backline.

Just because we pump a team doesn’t mean all of their players are terrible?

McKenna looks more like a proper CB but he should probably have been signed instead of Hendry. Whereas now it would appear we’re replacing Boyata with another young player.

I reckon the club are keeping tabs on him and would prefer him to have another year at Aberdeen but have maybe been forced into trying to get him this window because of other options falling through or maybe they didn’t expect Boyata to leave.

If we go for McKenna, then I never want to hear anyone at Celtic ever speak again about our aspirations to be a CL club or have ambition to be one. That’s clearly a lie if we go for him.

So, knowing Lawell’s abject inability to actually spend for real quality, he will be signed. Real quality must have gone down a notch. Just like our hopes. I wish I could say you couldn’t make it up, but we all know that’s the SP of all our boards. Cowards and risk averse cheapskates.

The people on here who support Brendan Rodgers and have no problem blaming the Board for our centre backs need to remember that Brendan bought in his centre backs in January . The Board could not be expected to keep providing funds for the same positions especially until some had been sold .
